Oh boy, I really haven’t been active on here lately. I kinda forgot I even had Tumblr, to be honest - I’ve been preoccupied with other stuff and social media’s a struggle as a whole… anyway, @gltownsend thanks for tagging me! I love tag games!!! :) 

The words are reach, gentle (took some liberties with this one, because Lost Paradise does not seem to be a book with much comforts haha), ache and alarm. 

Reach

This last statement was punctuated by a glare in the direction of the younger Magro boy, who froze in mid-reach, one hand stretched out giddily towards a ceramic vase on a nearby windowsill. The vase looked rather like it dated from the Hellenic period, and it was lucky save indeed that Angel had managed to stop his brother from putting his grubby hands all over it. Some things were priceless, after all.

Gentle

“You are Signor Magro? The gentleman who is registered for the midnight train bound for Firenze, passenger class?”

“That’s me,” Angel replied, and one should give him credit for how his expression didn’t waver or how his voice did not tremble in the delivery. “Angel Magro. This is my brother, Dante. We’re going to visit relatives in the New City, signor.”

The conductor dipped his head. “Of course you are.”

Ache

They ran until their feet ached, until their vision and perception had been so turned and twisted and scrambled by the labyrinthine streets and alleyways of Firenze that they had no choice but to stop. They had run for what seemed like millennia, spurred on in their flight by the sense of terror that clouded them. Cold and sore and shivering in sodden clothes (they had tripped and fallen in a hidden puddle sometime in the blur of motion and emotion that had been the last few moments), Angel collapsed against a way and held his own hands out in front of him, fingers spread, as if in this moment of relief he was silently amazed at the marvel that was both of them being all right - after everything they had been through. He may be tired, and freezing, and had splitting pains radiating from an ankle (he wondered briefly if he’s injured it, but then shrugged the concern off), but he felt that he had done more in the past day or so than he had ever done in his life up till then. That life had been a sheltered one, and he realized that, and for the past couple of months he had felt the gaping wound of loss whenever he let himself slip into thoughts of it. He still did, but Angel was quietly surprised (and not really, though) to realize that the wound was not smarting anymore.

Alarm

Her head shot up in alarm, and she managed to say only a couple of words — “What did…”—before she found that she could no longer speak. She coughed, as if hoping to dislodge the sound from her throat, and gagged, but nothing was said. She was completely silenced.

“That’s much better,” Anne said, pointedly ignoring the gesture Sophia gave her in lieu of a comment and turning away. Sharply, and in an instant commanding she beckoned for George to move back a little, and he did so, the lantern lights dimming at the same time. The shadows loomed around them once more, tall and commanding much like Annie herself was. The latter clapped her hands, and the shadows seemed to slink away, bend back slightly and out of sight.

At the sound, as if summoned, the bony form of Fineas Milani shifted back into view, dragging something dark and heavy behind him. The strange thing that he was tugging along, slowly, looked like a shapeless lump of fur, all dark and night. Perhaps it had once been alive, been something akin to an animal, as much as it seemed more to resemble a monster. All Sophia could discern was that, whatever it was, this furry mass made a teeth-clenching clamour while being dragged across the stone floor.

you're having terrible period cramps? this man will have a 'period aid box' filled with sweets, sanitary products, pain relievers, a heating pad, and more of your favorite things delivered to your door

it's pouring and you forgot your umbrella?

if he has an umbrella: will obv share it with you and doesn't care if half his body gets drenched, what matters is you're dry

no umbrella: takes off his uniform jacket/vest and drapes it over you. you'll end up damp but hey, he tried his best

the way he's so passionate about what he loves, then catches himself being so open about it, then blushes, has you swooning

it was a normal day when you asked him about all might. you ended up listening to him for two hours ranting and sharing

he's also incredible passionate about being a hero

you're a yapper. you're running your mouth twenty four-seven. and twenty four hours every day, he listens. quietly.

at first you thought he was just ignoring you, but he brings up what you babbled about from time to time.

the way denki's so easy to talk to and have fun with makes you feel so safe and secure

this dynamic between the both of you confuses people. some look at the both of you and think you're a duo misfit who constantly gets called out during class, and some give you teasing looks

when you started to notice these feelings for him, you couldn't help but grin at the thought of marrying your best friend.

your lips part, heart about to beat out of your rib cage. your mouth feels dry and you can't help the desire to tell him everything you feel for him- but you can't. you don't wanna risk ruining your friendship.

"yellow," he calls. ever since you laughed at his joke for the first time, he's been calling you yellow. he says your laugh magically brightens the room, the sight of your smile lifting the heaviness on his shoulder. "smile for me?"

and you do.

Interns & Teachers hcs best to worst

Morris obvs we know doesn't wanna trade his mentorship with Milla so they must get along well, or at least he thinks so! I think he really respects and admires her, and wants to impress her. Milla on her part is textually a very good teacher and caregiver so she probably has given Morris a lot to work with to grow and improve. Maybe Morris was even more of a rascal and trouble maker before we met him and Milla taught him to at least put that energy toward something productive. Like Pirate Radio!

I don't USUALLY like going to extra material for things I think are true but the art book says Adam is senior to the other interns which I think implies he actually has spent plenty of time with Truman, rather than the impression the game gives of "none at all hes in a coma, lol".

That being said I imagine their mentorship is on a very professional feeling level. they get along and maybe Truman even tries to be friendly and casual with the boy, but Adam is super focused on being a good student and working on his big historical project. After the mole incicent though maybe he loosens up! He nearly lost the chance to talk to his mentor ever again after all.

Gisu and Otto are super duper casual in contrast to Adam and Truman. Gisu skateboards into his lab, yells WHATS UP TEACH! Otto says something abt his latest project before throwing a wrench at Gisu who catches it mid sick skate flip because Otto just expects her to help with said project in exchange to credits + not having to do homework for a week. They barely talk outside of this bc the agreement is not spoken and just based on vibes and knowing winks.

After the games I think Lizzie swings back to Compton's and he gives her a stern look and a raised eyebrow like you didn't do my assignment? and Lizzies like dude I tried man. and she thinks shes gonna get a lecture but instead Compton's like I'm sorry about that, let's start over, and then they play chess and he wins 3 times in a row. He learns Lizzie likes "weird" and "ugly" animals like bugs and rats and he makes some new assignment about just observing them in the wild, maybe try to talk to them if she can! and reporting back to him. Lizzie still thinks thisis a bit lame but at least she doesnt have to set up a Goat Trap so its an improvement

Sam learns what Coach did at camp and she doesn't do anything actively malicious but she does give him horrible stink eye for like a week. afterwards they go back to getting along surprisingly well aside from all the times Sam says some shit that sounds oddly like a threat but it goes over Oleander's head like half the time.

If Adam and Truman are a good professional vibe, Norma and Hollis are a bit of a stinky professional vibe. Hollis obviously thinks shes a capable young girl, she did let her teach class while she was off meditating about bills. But Norma wants so much more than that and tries so so so hard to impress her even though she ALSO thinks her homework assignment is boring and childish. She goes to Hollis' office like I want a different assignment, with the unspoken want "do not treat her like a child". and Hollis is like oh ok do you want to learn some advanced techniques that come from reading this big dry book of theory as big as your head. and Norma is like well, no. and Hollis is like ok then do your assignment very neutrally and Norma leaves thinking SHE HATES ME!!! bc I think Norma probably has. bad responses to rejection.

Hopefully Norma improves over time though bc I think! I think Hollis could possibly see a lot of potential in her!! She might even see a girl who's impatient, prone to rash decisions, and wants to prove herself so badly, and see herself in her. which is something that's only just occured to me but i enjoy the idea a lot so thats where I'll end this.

Today was a big day for you! Well…it was supposed to. You had been training with Miguel for a while but not too long, he said you didn’t need that much training because you were natural!

-Moving on, Time skip few minutes later-

Miguel and you were standing outside the meeting room. “Are you ready?” he questioned, placing his hand on the door knob ready to turn it. “Mhm!” she nodded in response. The two of you guys walked in and stood off the front of the meeting table. Miguel cleared his throat before speaking, “This is the recruit I was telling you guys about, her name is Y/n.” As he said this, the group looks at you with a somewhat judgmental expression. "Nice to meet you guys," you say to break the silence. The spider-mans all nod back at you, but still have this strange expression on their faces. You wonder if Miguel may have overhyped you.

As you stand in silence, you suddenly hear someone speak up.

"You're the recruit Miguel was talking about?" She said, her voice still judging and skeptical. You look over to who said that and see that it's Gwen. In any case, she didn't sound all that thrilled to see you.

"Gwen, come on, don't treat her like that." Miguel said, sounding annoyed at her behavior.

"She's a great spider-man with tons of potential," Miguel continued, sticking up for you. You were starting to feel like this was a terrible idea. A bad one.

"Yeah, but what potential does a 13 year old have anyway." Gwen said, looking at you with a judgmental look.”Gwen, I really don't want to deal with your attitude today, ok?" Miguel said, having had enough of Gwen's behavior. Y/n stood there dumbfounded thinking to herself did she really just say?! You started to grow annoyed with her bitchy attitude. You had finally spoken up, clearly not in the mood anymore , “If you wanna talk shit at least get my age right. I’m 14 actually dumbass” I scoffed.

Gwen looked annoyed when you corrected her. Clearly she was the type of person that got easily angered.

“Whatever!” She said, “It doesn’t make a difference, you’re still too young.” She said, not backing down. She turned her back on you and started talking to the other spider warriors that weren’t as annoyed with you.

“Come on Miguel, there’s no way you’re going to work with that.” she said, sounding annoyed. Miguel rolled her eyes at this. Miguel looked at Gwen, his patience already wearing thin.You left the meeting room pissed.

Miguel watched as you walked away in a frustrated mood. He took a deep breath before calling out to you as you headed to the door, “Y/n wait" He said in a concerned tone.

You continued walking out anyways, so he figured there was no point in arguing with you since it wouldn't make much of a difference. You left however, before he could say anything more. He watched you leave, trying to decide what to do. After a few hours , he headed into the room where you were last seen. Hi, sorry to bother you, I'm new in this fandom and I feel like you're kind of a big figure in here, so I wanted to know if you read fanfics and, if so, if you had any rec for me? I can't say I like the usual take on Chuuya or Dazai or their relationship in most fanfictions, making of Dazai an emotionless bully and Chuuya an angry spazz with anger management issues and absolutely no brains.

Your takes on the character seems to me closer to actual canon, and so I figured you'd probably know of fics I would actually enjoy.

Hey, it's been awhile since you talked about your Mamabel AU, I know it's been on hiatus, but it's one of my favorites and I've had questions about the AU for a long time now, the powers of Mirabel and the Vergara kids are never really explained, neither is Epifanio or what happened to Bruno, I know he's in the AU and he doesn't seem to have gone into the walls so what's been up with him for the past ten years? It'd be nice if you could elaborate a bit more on those parts, and frankly I'd love to know more about what Mirabel's house looks like, both inside and out, as you haven't really described it much

INDEED IT HAS 😧 but um. Lucky for you and all the other readers, its currently under write (which is why i've been slow on Mama Isa and the werewolf au but. Imma get there I SWEAR.

Likely, the currently chapters won't change too much, but enough. The family dynamic is a little different, but its nothing too bad. I swear.

Powers, Epifanio & Casita and Bruno were literally meant to explained in flashback chapters that. You know, never came to be.

But I'll try and explain without spoiling too much??? Epifanio is essentially a sibling to Casita. Literally from the same magic. I changed it so there isn’t a separate candle, BUT Epifanio is still seperated enough to where it has its own magic. But if the candle goes out, both Casita and Epifanio will have no magic. Only difference is that Epifanio won't fall, because it was built by the villagers for Mirabel, and wasn't created by magic.

And another thing. Mirabel's house was never meant to be permanent. It was more of a hangout spot for her and kids, you know a place where they can meet up. There's only rooms because Mirabel and the Miracle kind of willed it to have rooms. And the way the rooms work is weird??? Like there aren't 30-odd doors. There's a few ways to get to a room, the main one going to one of the few glowing (blank btw) doors. Whatever kid touches it kind of just. Materializes their rooms on the spot so they can go in.

Externally, Epifanio is visually pretty similar to surrounding house. It doesn't stand out in particular, aside from a few things, hence why the Madrigals never really noticed it. Internally, it's only one floor, rather than two. Again, it was supposed to be a hangout spot, not a house, so that's how it was built. There's more than one bathroom tho, lmao. There is two separate doors, Mirabel's room which the kids. Regularly just barge into to find Mirabel.

And then Bruno's room. Because while yes, he was in the walls for a few years, he didn't stay all 10 years because eventually Casita ratted him out to one of the kids and they dragged him out if the wall 💀 he's not seen in town though, at least not in the plaza, and any villagers that DO see him, they don't say anything. He obviously isn't ready to reveal himself (but he's working up the courage to do so.)

Another thing that's changing in the rewrite is any kid under 4 won't have a gift. Easy to write and. We don't need a bunch of toddler running around with powers. That's crazy. But they WILL eventually get gifts 😭 just after the story. Obvs. Mirabel's gift is pretty simple tho, it changed ever so slightly she has sort of. The ability to read minds. Talking into the mind, no, but reading it, yes. She has a whole hive mind with her kids. But she doesn't like take control of them, she can't do that 💀

This was a list I made a while back (edited a bit but its virtually the same). Basically it's the kids names, their age, whatever symbol they are on Mirabel's skirt, and then if they have one, their Gift

Ultimately, the rewrite has some changes, none too major, at least I don't think so. It will take a while cause I gotya rewrite the current chapters ans then new ones. I wanna say it'll be between?? 10-15 chapters. Because it takes place during the events of the movie, so basically its just Canon-Divergent.

ELITE UPDATE 2: THREE SEASONS FINISHED

Ookayyy let's go so my first elite (let's say review) was after watching just 4 episodes and forming a holy shit amount of opinions for every character coz boy was I wrong..anyways I just finished 3 seasons of elite!.. like wow can't believe that. so let's talk about it. I dug up a bit and found out that samuel and guzman have some beef over a girl in s4 and I am def not in the mood for seeing there friendship get messed up. So yeah for now it's a goodbye to elite. Bentinck doesn't cry about this because he thinks he's fulfilling his purpose.

i wouldn't say he enjoyed kissing William's father as a boy, he just thinks he did. obv we don't get to see much of it in Dona Dona bc it's from William's POV. but even then, as an adult, he stills sees it as an honor. AGAIN, part of his whole arc of how he views himself, the religion, and his role in it. that event is kind of the starting point of that, it was put there for a reason and not bc i actually think kids can consent/enjoy assault! in my experience, they can think they did. here again, the perfect victim narrative does not always reflect reality.

Can we talk for a second about how Piper isn't good Aphrodite kid rep? I don't wanna sound like a hater! But even though the children of Aphrodite are often treated like a joke (*smacks Riordan with my makeup bag*), they actually do have their own canonical powers related to love, attraction, and beauty. But Piper doesn't demonstrate any of them (except for her "kaleidoscope eyes" since Aphrodite kids can canonically change their hair and eye colors if they want), only Charmspeak. But while Charmspeak is a rare power for an Aphrodite kid to have, it's not unique to them. Anyone who learns magic can Charmspeak like Circe and Medea. When describing her past to Annabeth, she thought Piper could be an Hermes kid because she said she could be persuasive which Hermes and his kids could be (implication that Hermes kids could Charmspeak?), not to mention Piper would steal things to get her dad's attention. If it wasn't clear that her godly parent was female, then Piper would make more sense as an Hermes kid. Given that the series treats girly-girls/any girl who has a personality that's not "aloof, rough, and tsundere with a soft side" really poorly (and not even the tomboyish female leads are treated that well), it shouldn't be a surprise that Piper doesn't use any power specifically tied to her mother's domain of love. This just makes Piper come off as an Aphrodite kid in name only. - 💄 anon

baseball metaphor aside, I do think that piper's uniqueness is obv integral to her character but also just lowk a result of Rick writing himself into a hole. Because he characterized aphrodite kids as "aloof rough etc" like you said and when it came to creating a new character that was a child of Aphrodite he needed to subvert that to appeal to the "girl power" that Piper ended up embodying (the success of that is a different conversation). Just thinking about it, I think that in the time that TLH came out making Piper into a the quintessential aphrodite kid would have flopped so bad bc the badass teen heroine trope was on the rise. And compare that to Annabeth? Like Piper would have been hated so much more.

At the same time though, I'd argue that the subverison of the aphrodite kid stereotype has more weight on the story. Because Piper doesn't rly belong and tbh none of the lost trio do (i mean, they stay in chb for maybe just over a year combined? And then they all just kinda disperse across the country. Or die in jasons case lol) and the lack of an obvious commonality as an anchor just drives home the fact that Piper is "other". Which works so well bc she doesn't rly have that sense of loyalty to CHB esp in TLH (she sticks to what she knows). I just don't see HOO hitting the same if piper didn't carry the ruggedness she has.

But to the point of charmspeak, yeah, if you learn the magic you can do it but I think her use of charmspeak as a testament to her character is more important than just having it, as illustrated by Drew v Piper in TLH.

Additionally I think she certainly shares traits w the rest of the cabin like her stubbornness and her affinity (almost need tbh) for romance.

As an aside, that's kinda why I have a love hate relationship w the contrast between Drew and Piper. Because I like that both sides apparent, but I would like to see the middle ground of being an aphrodite kid, like w Lacy or Mitchell.

Overall though, it is rly curious that Piper's powers hve nothing to do w love/appearance.... esp considering jiper was huge to the plot of tlh and hoo AND that her appearance is commented on often ("You're a knockout")

tl;dr: rick dropped the ball as we know, but it does add dimension to piper's character.
