Day 13

I got the last two Pokemon!!

All in one Distortion!

I found a Linking Cord first and after catching a Steelix, I got a Metal Coat!

Arceus loves me!

I have finished the Obsidian Fieldlands Pokedex!

As far as I could

Aipom and Ambipom are the only ones missing

I caught a Togetic then Togepi in the Crimson Mirelands

Before going into the Crimson Mirelands Bow was level 92, Lek was level 87, and Ken, TheCoolerKen, Coil, and Jewel were level 77

The leveling was so off!

I kinda felt guilty

The overall Pokedex was 96 seen and 92 caught

Before I even got to the Crimson Mirelands, that section of the Pokedex was 35 Pokemon seen and 33 caught

Then after one day, I had 66 Pokemon caught and 64 seen

I won't be able to get the Goomy line as I need the fish lord

Will I really be staying in the Crimson Mirelands for only 2 days?

Compared to 13 in the Obsidian Fieldlands

I guess

Got all the Unown in the Crimson Mirelands and Jubilife Village

Got 9/20 Wisps, will need the fish lord again! to get the last two

You'd think Jamie would be right at home in the wild setting of Hisui.

Maybe if she went back at a younger age... she would be.

But if it were to happen to present day Jamie... she would barely hold herself together at the start. Her one driving force would be the desire to get home. Her Pokemon help, somewhat--especially Wisp the Zorua.

If nothing else, they're a distraction from her heartbreak...

Lumine the Cyndaquil/Quilava is caring, but quiet. As in, he doesn't talk. At all. He'll share his affection through touch and other means, but he's not good for reassuring conversation. At least Jamie knows what to expect with a Cyndaquil... right...?

Cooper the Umbreon is much more reserved, keeping to himself. Jamie took him on as an Eevee when she found him watching some others eat from a distance. He was clearly hungry, verging on starving, but he was often bullied away from meals by his siblings and had to wait for the slim pickings. So, Jamie offered for him to come with her, battle participation not necessary. After a short while with her, he realized he was finally free of the suffering his siblings had put him through, and was having a good time. Feeling a wave of thanks and affection for his new trainer, he evolved into Umbreon.

Wisp the Zorua is the most comfort Jamie receives early on. She's older than her evo stage would imply, being the team mom and doing her best to be just that for Jamie. Being the type to care rather than fight, she would often run from opponents, ending up staying a dangerously low level and being rejected by her clan for her unwillingness to fight. She wandered her way through Hisui, surviving against the odds to make her way to the Obsidian Fieldlands where she and Jamie met. Jamie offered to either help her work past her fears, or just be company for her. So, the Zorua joined her team.

Note that this was the team when I started the picture. I've since caught two more in my playthrough.

Warden Penny with Lord Overqwil and Warden Arven with Lady Zoroark when?

Ok so, in my AU, Nemona is the only one who gets isekai-ed to Hisui, HOWEVER! Your ask did get me thinking about what Warden Penny and Arven would be like.

So while this isn’t canon to the AU, I did make some little doodles for it!

Ok so, Arven first. I really like the idea of Him being the warden to Hisuian Zoroark, as it is a pokemon usually associated with loss and pain, feelings that Arven knows too well… 

I made him a member of the Pearl clan, as Hisuian Zoroark is found in the Alabaster Icelands where Pearl settlement is, so they would be more likely to find him first. I also gave him a large bulky bag reminiscent of the one he wears in SV ( Knowing him he’s probably carrying around cooking supplies and ingredients. Smart! )

Ok now for Penny. Personally, I don’t think Overqwil would be the most fitting for Penny, if we're thinking in terms of symbolism. ( to be honest after reading its entry, I think Carmine would be a better match for it lol. ) That’s just me wanting to make it symbolic tho, and it honestly isn’t a bad idea, especially considering that it’s one of the only Hisuian forms that isn’t a noble pokemon ( not including the starters of course. ) 

However, I did have different, very silly idea that might work ( albeit maybe not for a serious au )

Eevee. 

Hey! It certainly fits Penny as a character! Lol 

I know there isn't an Hisuian Eevee varient in game, but considering this is a thought experiment I thought I could just make a fan one!

I imagine that this variant of Eevee is quite large and is a Ride Pokemon. To be honest, I just thought it would be cool! Penny certainly thinks it is! 

Anyways I imagine Penny would have been located in the Obsidian Fieldlands. I drew her here with Diamond Clan gear, but to be honest either clan would probably work! 

Anyways, this was a fun thought experiment and good drawing practice! Thanks for the ask!

I've been rotating the "frenzied nobles mean frenzied wardens" idea in my head since I saw it. Divine madness my beloved <3 Do you have any further thoughts on the topic? How much worse and/or dangerous does it make the situation

Oohh yes I have so very many thoughts, but to start off, the wardens also being frenzied makes it far far more dangerous and worse for everyone involved. Unlike their nobles,

They're mobile.

The frenzied wardens roam each area quick to attack anything that moves, the wardens that remain don armor and spend all their time protecting people and pokemon from them. Some like Ingo, and Iscan especially running between areas to face more than one maddened warden.

For a time the only places that are safe from the frenzied wardens are the Obsidian Fieldlands and the Cobalt Coastlands, with no Lord Arcanine Palina was temporarily spared from frenzing. Lian and Sabi are considered too young to be going out and fighting directly so they help Calaba in the fieldlands where the injured are taken and kept. Lian spared from frenzing simply for not having aspects yet.

Not only must they fight against their fellow wardens there is building pressure from Kamado and Jubilive village for them to deal with the treat in a more permanent way. It is never outright said but there is that underlying threat to take it into his own hands. Irida and Adaman have meetings with each other and him often. That does not stop him from trying to pressure the remaining wardens directly.

Day 9 of being stuck in the Obsidian Fieldlands

Still no Golem, Machamp, Kleavor, or Scizor

But once I do get to the Crimson Mirelands, I'll have 32 or 34/75 Pokemom caught, so that'll be easier, I should be able to get Togepi, Togetic, and Goomy there

Unless I need the fish lord

Anyways, I perfected the page for Kricketune

And during a Wurmple outbreak, I got a SECOND shiny Wurmple

My two shiny Wurmple are the leaders of my Wurmple army

I also have two Alpha Wurmple and an Alpha Silcoon

I got another Oval Stone from the Ginkgo Guild

Got enough Water Stones to get five Vaporeon and finish that bit of the Pokedex entry

I could do Flareon too, but I'm saving the Fire Stones for Growlithe and Vulpix

Got four Razor Claws, one Upgrade, one Dubious Disk, two Protectors, and plenty of Magmarizer and Electirizer

I don't need anymore

Give me Linking Cords, Metal Coats, and Black Augurite

Let's throw in a Peat Block since I did get Ursarings from the Distortions

I'm curious how long it'll take to get one of those items

If I get to Day 14 and I have none of those items, I'm going to the Crimson Mirelands

Part 2 of reader who can talk to Pokémon please!!!!!!!

(a/n: HI HELLO I'M NOT DEAD i say despite having said exactly that last time oops

but um. yeah idk i wanted to write again and i had the bug so i'm here now oopsie! idk if i'll ever have a consistent schedule again but i did finish something for the first time in a while so here you get Content

also. thank you all for your patience with me. i am sorry it has taken me literal years to get to requests but i promise you they are in progress and i have not given up on them, so i hope you haven't either!! i still love this little scrinkle scrunkle and i hope he hasn't faded from your consciousnesses yet

You leaned against the smooth surface of the Mossy Rock, waiting for a familiar head of blond hair to appear. Around you, the Buneary gave you a wide berth, but you heard them gossipping about you from afar. You rolled your eyes and tried to ignore them, even as they snarked about Volo’s outfit.

Your visits to the Mossy Rock had almost become weekly occurrences at this point. At first, you thought he might not come back, but lo and behold, he’d arrived with his Pokemon in tow. Now, you spent most of your time here. You weren’t sure what it was, but there was something that drew you to the place. Drew you to Volo. Perhaps it was the fact that you’d felt understood for the first time in years, the first time you’d felt like that weight was lifted off of your shoulders.

You knew it was a little foolish, but you hoped Volo felt that way too. 

Sure enough, a few moments after you’d gotten yourself settled in the grass, the gentle, delicate chirps of a Togekiss heralded Volo’s arrival. He smiled at you as he approached, the angelic Pokemon flying low over his head. “I hope you weren’t waiting too long,” he greeted, sitting down next to you. “I wasn’t,” you replied, smiling softly. “How was the trip?”

As time passed, you talked about all sorts of things, from the weather in the Highlands to the Starly passing overhead. Volo had made a little home for himself just outside the Obsidian Fieldlands, far enough away from Jubilife Village that he wouldn’t be seen but close enough to take advantage of the region’s naturally fair weather. He’d given you the rough location so that you could come see him when you next had time off, an outing you eagerly looked forward to.

Ever so slowly, the sun made its way across the sky, and it painted the Heartwood in soft dusty pinks by the time you came to a natural pause in conversation. All around, you could hear gentle whispers and chirps of the forest Pokemon, going about their lives with their usual hustle and bustle. There were many of them, but you’d gotten used to tuning them out so they weren’t overwhelming.

Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Volo’s slate gray eyes locked onto you, and you turned. “Something the matter?”

Volo was silent for a moment before looking out to the forest. “You’re hearing them, aren’t you?”

You nodded. “Nothing special. Just…them going about their lives, you know?”

“Right…” Volo trailed off, finding something transfixing about the dirt.

You furrowed your brow, looking at Volo with concern. “Is everything okay?”

He didn’t respond right away; for a moment, you worried you’d overstepped some unspoken boundary. Then, finally, he spoke. “Did…my Pokemon ever say anything about me?”

This caught your attention as well as Togekiss’s; the avian Pokemon chirped once, looking at her Trainer with a concerned look that matched your own. You hummed, thinking about it. “Well… I always remember them being very grateful when you made them dinner.”

Volo laughed, the sound a little bitter as it left his lips. “That’s it?”

“I can’t remember right now, I’m sorry,” you replied, suddenly feeling quite sheepish. 

“No, no, it’s alright…” Volo sighed, looking back at you. “I was just curious to know…how they felt about me.”

There was something nervous in his eyes, something desperate. You recognized it from his expression at the temple, when he shouted questions into the silent heavens. This expression wasn’t nearly as intense, but it carried the same undercurrent; Volo wanted to be seen. Recognized.

No, more than that. Volo wanted, desperately, to have someone care about him.

You sat up, looking at Togekiss. “Well, let’s ask, then,” you said simply, drawing Volo’s attention. “Togekiss, how do you feel about Volo?”

Almost immediately, Togekiss launched into an animated spiel about her Trainer, almost too quickly for you to keep up. You were able to catch most things, though; she talked at length about how well Volo cared for her and her teammates, how passionate he was about everything he did, how he spoke, how he walked, everything. Volo gazed at her with wide eyes, darting back to you for interpretation every so often. You did your best to translate everything she said, trying to catch sentence fragments and missed words as much as you could.

Finally, Togekiss tired herself out, and you and she both let out an exhausted sigh. Volo simply stared between the two of you, not saying anything for a long while. Then, finally, he looked at Togekiss with wide, watery eyes.

“You…really think all that?”

Togekiss’s firm nod needed no translation; she nuzzled up against her Trainer with a soft coo. Volo held his Pokemon tightly, and you saw a few tears glistening in the early evening light. You watched the scene with a smile on your face, a warm feeling blossoming in your heart. To use your ability for good like that… It felt fulfilling. Inspiring. Like it was more of a blessing than a curse.

Volo turned back to you, his eyes still glistening with a few unshed tears. “Thank you… I’d been doubting how my Pokemon felt about me recently. I wasn’t sure they actually liked me, or if they wanted to be my allies…” He smiled at Togekiss again, who chirped happily. “Now I know, though.”

You nodded. “I’m happy to help. Besides, seeing you smile like that makes it worth it.”

Volo’s face flushed, and he glanced to the side. “Oh, surely you don’t think that…”

You shook your head. “I’m serious.” And you were; you hadn’t thought about it for a bit, but you’d only ever seen a real, genuine smile from Volo once or twice. Almost everything prior to the temple had been behind a mask, a façade designed to keep you guessing. But this…this was real.

You didn’t think you’d ever tire of it.

Volo gazed up at the sky, one of those rare genuine smiles gracing his lips. The sun had just about set, and the sky seemed to glow with soft purples and blues. “It’s getting late,” he mused. “I should be heading back… And they’ll probably be wondering where you are, too.” 

You nodded, going to stand up before offering a hand. He took it, his grasp firm and his smile one of renewed confidence. You smiled right back at him. “Same time tomorrow?”

Volo nodded firmly, and Togekiss chirped happily.

“Same time tomorrow.”

-immediately from now on attempt to down low talk to every pokemon i see. They are all as weirded out by this as the humans are

-catch the little freaks for laventon same as usual. My hand eye coordination isnt that great but i only miss once ✌️

-the oshawott puts up a fight and sky zaps the fuck out of it. Hardly even a battle

-apparently nobody in the galaxy team has heard of being able to talk to pokemon.

-rei and akari are both there. Thank god. If i fuck it up and stop being the protagonist one of them can do the story mode

-skylark points out that given the severity of catching a starly shinx and bidoof in the game, they are for sure definitely for real trying to kill us by making us fight an alpha bibarel on our first day

-i genuinely debate wandering off to go explore and do something more interesting like shiny hunt but i dont want to let the kids get straight up killed when im supposed to be watching them because im not sure i believe in the power of their pikachu and eevee to protect them from any actual threats here. Like an alpha

-volo says some obscure shit about the vortex and how interesting it is that i fell from the sky. I debate fucking with him in an uncountable number of ways but decide not to because i like him. I may change my mind in the future

-we do not battle volo because were about to fight kleavor and we need all the strength we can get for it. Im sad because i want to see togepi but i do not say this because it would be insane for me to just know what pokemon he has without being told

-drifblim does everything in its power to draw the brunt of kleavors fire. It’ll fire off gusts to whip up dirt and do its weird teleportation bullshit so that kleavor cant hit it but will be frustrated enough to keep pursuing

-skylark, shellos and iridas glaceon will lay down support fire for drifblim in case kleavor loses interest or if kleavor knocks it out. If it stays irritated its less likely to notice me and irida

-irida and i will throw balms while the pokemon fight

-shellos says shes not sure she’ll be able to keep up with the fight since she moves so slowly. This is a good point

-she cant sit on skylarks back because shes not a ground type so her firing off electricity will hit shellos.

-drifblim cant take non-ghosts with him when he phases

-glaceon agrees to carry shellos. I am flooded with relief at the fact that i dont have to carry a slug on my head while doing all this shit

-i remember that irida might not know that i can understand pokemon . dont worry about it irida we can talk later

-i also remember the kleavor cheese strat and bring up the idea of ducking behind the tree if kleavor tries to go for us

-irida is unsure if kleavor will remember the importance of the giant tree in his rage, but he hasnt cut it down yet, so its possible he will avoid slicing straight through it to get to us and instead go around

-we will just have to hope so!

-lets pretend drifblim is lvl 25 here since we start with stronger pokemon so it has mystical fire which i think is neutral against kleavor bc of rock subtype

-fight scenes are hard come back and figure the details out later

-someone should get injured here because its a big fight and that will raise tension

-i think the security corps uniform is probably thick for warmth and extra defense so maybe i just get like a really bad scratch on an arm or shoulder but not enough to be a super big deal

-drifblim is knocked out during the battle by a stone axe sorry drifblim i love you

-shellos actually pulling its weight with water pulse and mud bomb

-skylark would know thunderbolt at lvl 25 which is awesome. I forgot that eeveelutions have abysmal move pools except for literally 1 move they can use reliably we’re gonna have to do something about that

-glaceon launches literally 1 ice beam and then realizes it is also so ungodly fucked if it gets hit by a rock move so it focuses on dodging while shellos launches water pulses

-irida and i truly get a lifetime amount of cardio in
