Hello, all of you! I am finally revamping this old post of mine. Mainly because I have grown as a writer and it is time I expanded my writing options. I have grown as a writer and am proud of where I am. Some of my old fanfictions weren’t the best, but we all gained experience.

So what's "blatantly insulting," Nonny, is you ignoring what AMC plainly showed on screen, which clearly flew right over your head, as you try some sort of racial dynamics gotcha! as if you care about Louis' "character and agency," when you didn't even pay attention to the episode or care to get Louis' story straight before insulting ME.

And now I'm a terf--that's new. Just cuz I said it's misogynist to reduce gender solely down to clothes--when the previous anon I was responding to implied through their over-emphasis of Lestat crossdressing & Louis not crossdressing was that wearing dresses is the only way to be accepted as a woman/female-coded; and only pants/suits/etc to be accepted as men/male-coded.

And she heavily factored into his abandonment issues & expectations in the 20th century that his fledglings WILL stay with him & obey him--I AM YOUR MAKER. Lestat's a constant work in progress--but he's NOT as progressive as people like to imagine.

Hence why I NEVER said men can't be domestically abused--why would I, when I've been screaming that Louis' the one being abused by Lestat the whole time. Again, I've discussed Lestat wrt 18th century dandyism (X X) if anyone wants some IRL historical context for what men dressed & acted like at the time Lestat would've been born & raised--and how that is REFLECTED in what he wore in Ep5 when he beat the hell out Louis & dropped him 2km from the effing sky "to BREAK what he could not OWN." i feel like it's fine when it's explicitly stated in the beginning that it's going to be only f!mc/f!reader stuff

however writers who stubbornly refuse to use gender neutral terms when talking about the mc in general, or just refuse to put the f!mc tag when they do in fact only write for cis female mcs do piss me off.

obey me using gender neutral terms for the mc is a big thing (actually one of the things about the game that kept me hooked in the first place) and I think it's also one of the reasons as to why the game managed to gather so many queer fans. we rarely get any sort of media that sticks to neutral terms and therefore allows non cishet people to feel included and valid, so to see certain fans go so hard against it when it's fairly easy to just use gender neutral terms can really be frustrating.

so, to me dom character/sub reader fics are so jarring is a few reasons-

1) writing a character as a dom is very trendy on tumblr

2) writing a MEAN dom (whether or not it’s ooc no one cares it seems) is also trendy

3) people seem to think all sexual experiences and smut must to have a d/s dynamic, it really doesn’t

4) the reader is obviously typically coded to be for a skinny white cis woman

5) and no one tags for shit ! I am a sub leaning switch but I don’t do degradation

it’s seriously frustrating, and I do enjoy reading some dom reader content as a switch

Hm, I'm not sure what you really mean by "trendy". I do think a majority of obey me fans who enjoy sub/dom dynamics are subs. So there's more sub!reader content out there.

I went off a little in my last post about society's idea of BDSM and what it looks like. Mainly as a rough and mean guy domming a meek and shy girl. And how that perception can well, for lack of a better word, leak through into fandom smut. So that's why I think that kind of dom/sub relationship is most prevent in fandom spaces.

Or well, it's preceeded that way. Ah, think about it like this. If you're a dom and you reading a bottom!female!reader fic with a top!male!character, and the character teases the reader, or does something that can be preceeded as rough. Such as give them a hickey or firmly grab onto their thighs. One might assume that the author is slipping in a dom/sub dynamic, because images of what our culture labels as "BDSM porn" features a male dom doing exactly that to a female sub.

Even when the author didn't intend that at all. That it was meant to be protrayed as a normal, sexy sex act. That if the roles were reversed, if the female!reader pushed the male character down to the bed and said they wanted to ride them, that could not automatically be preceeded as a sub/dom slip.

Mainly I think this is because bottom kinda gets preceeded as "sub" because well, you know, culture and stuff. So any thing added to that might be more noticeable as "tipping the scales" so to speak.

Ah. Look. More rambling about a topic not brought up.

(OK but real quick. Is the viewing of "giy being kinda forceful" as a dom/sub thing because of how BDSM is preceeded, even the when the author didn't intend that, true? Is did that slip in because the author was made to think that's how guys act during "normal" sex because of our culture focusing on how men are supposed to dominate women? Is the reader being influenced by culture, or is the author? Or possibly both?)

ANYWAY!! I totally get your salt about reader being coded as small, and skinny, and white and female. I too have complained about that before. You can not alone. If I hade to read another x reader, or even x female!reader fic were the character goes off about how "small" and "soft" the reader is im gonna loose it lol. Also the "not tagging" salt. First thing that comes to mind would be the food…or the ingredients they have in the Devildom rather. She finds everything rather interesting and terrifying at the same time.

Like wtf is a Bufo egg? Are the poisoned apples really poisoned? Is anything here safe for human consumption? Will she die if she eats anything?

She’s not really a club person, so any club Asmo tries to drag her to.

[Stuff that Can be Considered a Negative About the Devildom]

She finds the whole, not having a sun thing very inconvenient.

On one hand she can easily go for a nap with out having to make sure her room is dark. But on the other hand if she’s up late studying or working on something all night there’s no indication that it’s now morning without having to look at a clock or her DDD. She knows there’s a difference in the darkness but when you’re sleep deprived it all looks the same.
