A quick ramble-post because I just finished Haikyu 4:21 and I’m gonna explode

Spoilers for Haikyu below. Also lots of screaming. You have been warned.

Before I jump straight into my Nishinoya freakout, because that’s the main point of this post: KINOSHITA?? MY MAN??? YOU ARE A HERO!!

What a day to be a Nishinoya fan. What. A. Day. I can’t even right now. AAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! HE DID IT GUYS!!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Is it weird to say that I feel validated?? I know Noya’s not a rare pick by any means, but compared to a lot of the other characters it seems a lot harder to find people who also have him as their favorite. I mean, he’s been such a steady and consistent presence and he hasn’t had a whole lot of troubles up until Ushijima last season. And even then, he took that in stride and still faced it head on, like he always does. So I feel a bit like an oddball because he is 100% without any doubts my absolute favorite Haikyu character of all time and always will be, even though for the first two seasons he is pretty stagnant in terms of character arc. So this whole arc of his for these past few episodes has been SO. VALIDATING. It hurt so so bad the whole time because THAT’S MY BOY, HOW DARE YOU. But getting more of his backstory? Watching him do that overhand receive? With that music in the background? IN SLOW-MO!? AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! That made me so incredibly happy!!! I kid you not I must’ve rewound that specific part of the episode at least 6 times!

I’m so happy right now.

Noya is such an inspiration. I think that’s why I like him so much. He embodies a lot of qualities I wish I had. Honestly he just amazes me to no end.

I’ll probably do an in-depth discussion of my thoughts on his character after the show is over (and maybe a few others! Right now I definitely plan on doing one about Noya though.), so I’ll get more into what I admire about him when I do that.

8. What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story? 

this ended up being more a "which traits do you share" oops but i hope that works!

Neira: being acutely aware of responsibility, trying too hard to avoid/postpone making decisions, her relationship with her sexuality (& gender, kinda)

Kala: her brand of defiance & stubbornness & sense of self, her fascination for the world around her and the live for little things, her wayof emotionally detaching herself when needed

Liam: the tendency to get too melancholy and stuck on the past, the wanting to stay out of drama the best he can. & his general sense of privacy and boundaries around it are similar to mine i think

Lilian: her the way she deals with intrapersonal conflicts and her attitude towards life, her brand of protectiveness and bond with her siblings

June: her trouble with social graces and expectations/politeness, her body type kinda?, her way of thinking wrt problem solving

Ari: wanting to get things done by himself, overthinking social interactions, "i'll just finish this one thing" "oh crap it's 3am"

12. What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)? 

Neira: her fuckign. Face shape. Sometimes it looks just like i want sometimes it looks awful, it's a 50/5p thing. Also i never get her to look skinny and lanky in the way i want. & drawing burn scars is hard </3

Kala: the braiidd i struggle sm with braids and i always forget to adjust the length over time lol. Also her height & making her look fat and beefy in the way i want

Liam: height again </3 also his dai era hair..... how even does one draw short spiky hair that sticks up all over the place

Lilian: still cant quite settle on the exact body type for her... And her nose, i can never get it right smh

June: very easy to make her look too young rip

Ari: horns >:( specially the broken one lolol i'm so sorry Ari for constantly butchering your horns 😔. And his proportions give me trouble smh....

Noya: i actually hate drawing her face tattoo more than renan's vallaslin lol. Also her hair and nose.. i still struggle with curly hair and i am super finicky about the nose shape and i can never get it Quite Right

Bonus Info

The first two people to move in were Yamaguchi and Yachi, who went to high school with the kageyamas

People with the profession waiter work in the Kageyamas' café

Oikawa arrived here after being thrown out of his house to be gay, and being too afraid to ask iwaizumi for help,(for fear that the same thing will happen) he ran into Kageyama (same backstory as in haikyuu except the volleyball) who took him home like a stray dog, he got his modeling job thanks to Atsumu who recommended him.

Kenma doesn't officially live here but spends 80 percent of his time here, so he's counted as Yaku and Kuroo's 3 roommates.

Mika and Daishou arrived through Yachi (she and Mika are in the same class) So she started to panic when Kuroo and Daishou started beating each other (high school rival) because she thought she had done something wrong.

Tense at first between Ushijima and Oikawa (high school rival) but it gets better after, they are now friends.

Yaku meets Lev through atsumu, they were supposed to work together.

Usually everyone has breakfast together at the Kageyamas' in the morning (apart if someone is in a hurry)

Osamu wants to open his future restaurant not far from the café to stay close to everyone.

Osamu and Atsumu once called Shouyo and Tobio Mom and Dad by accident.

They have a movie night every Saturday

They have a chat group called: The Children of the Kageyamas (Group named as such, since Osamu and Atsumu called Shouyo and Tobio Mom and dad by accident)

I kid you not I argued with someone on YouTube who said that NAOYA was better written than Megumi. Yes, NAO-FUCKING-NOYA. 😭They said that just because Megumi is suicidal he’s badly written and that Naoya is better written as a character. I’m serious. And no, it wasn’t rage bait by them. They were DEAD SERIOUS in this random argument they started with me. 😭

But also holy shit that's kind of hilarious. A character literally created to be the worst person ever. a mysogonist, sexist, classist pos whose only express purpose in the story is to get pummeled by Maki and has literally 0 on-screen wins >>> the "suicidal" kid who actually recognizes their flaws and works on them throughout the story and GROWS along with being arguably the most important character in the series with the added bonus of actually being a nice, down-to-earth person and not an asshole. Makes sense to me idk what to tell you /j

what does it even mean to be better written for them? 😭 Naoya literally exists to portray the misogynist fans and to die by maki's hands to prove a point. He's a caricture at best without any sort of dimensionality. He doesn't even go through a character arc or anything. He doesn't even have a backstory LMAO???

Megumi IS well-written, we see him go through an actual character arc (though it has been halted for now) it would be badly written if his suicidal tendancies came out of left field and were never addressed but they make complete sense within the context of the environment he grew up in. His father selling him made him associate his self-worth with his technique, so he has no regard for his life and considers it collateral most times. He was surrounded by Jujutsu Sorcerers whose entire job description is to be batshit insane enough to do whatever it takes to win. (He was surrounded by GOJO of all people growing up 😭 that's the same guy that debated killing geto in the middle of the busy sidewalk FULL OF PEOPLE LMAO) along with the fact that he recognizes it's a flaw and works on it. I think people see him using it in Shibuya as him regressing when it really didn't have anything to do with his mentality. He was literally out of options then. He either dies pointlessly or he dies and takes down an enemy with him.

Every action Megumi takes is heavily criticised without them even considering the context of why he made those actions, that's why they think he's 'badly-written' because god forbid a character has flaws or makes a mistake or two and learns from it.

Naoya being a better written character is such a weird hill to die on lmao like Naoya's not even a great side character he's a genuine asshole. I dont understand why people like him at all. I guess this proves pretty privilege is a thing

It's dark outside by the time practice ends. I feel gross with how sweaty I am and musty the air is in the gym, I need to get out quick. I thank the coach and my captain and quickly leave for the locker room. I sent a quick text to Yuno that i'm gonna be like in 15 minutes. I try to be as quick as possible because we are having a dinner date at a local place in a bit and I don’t wanna be late. After my shower I send another text to Yuno that I'm done and he can meet me outside.

I walk out of the locker room and through the front door to the outside, this is nice. I feel my body temperature cooling down and I can finally somewhat relax. I wait a couple of minutes before I hear yuno calling my name, “Tsuki i'm over here!” I look around for a second to see where he was and I see him at the entrance of the parking lot. I walk over there as quickly as possible. When I walk over to him I pull him in by the waist with one arm and kiss the top of his head, “Wow Tsuki, didn’t realize you missed me so much” Yuno says with a smirk “Oh shut it” I reply back with a small smile “Now lets go”.

Top 5 favorite Haikyuu games!

I'm still riding that buzz after watching the Haikyuu movie and after sorting my thoughts and giddiness, I thought I'd make a list of my top favorite Haikyuu volleyball games!

The Battle at the Garbage Dump/The Dumpster Battle (Karasuno vs. Nekoma): This isn't just because of the movie, I genuinely love this game! It's so good! Kenma's strategy and genuinely finding love for the sport was the biggest highlight! I will forever love Kuroo's and Kenma's backstory and Hinata's struggle but never giving up. That shot if the crow breaking out of the cage, the shot of Hinata and Kenma's knife fight. Heck, the movie making the last bit full on Kenma's POV! Everything was so good!

Karasuno vs. Inarizaki: Another game where so many things came together. From Noya's struggle and inner conflict, to Tanaka realizing that he's average but he's never giving up, Kinoshita realizing he's also important, all of it was so good! And Inarizaki is just a great team, introducing so many great characters (Kita, I love you!) The ending of that match will forever be my favorite of Hinata and Kageyama knowing how to stop their own quick.

Fukurodani vs. Mujinazaka: I like Kiryu. We should've had more of him and his team~ (I was rooting for them).

Karasuno vs. Date Tech: The revenge match! Where Asahi gets his confidence fully back, Noya puts all that training to use, Hinata realizing how great being a decoy is! It's the highlight of season one for me!

Karasuno vs. Aoba Johsai (2nd time): This match is what made me appreciate Oikawa. I will forever have that moment of him setting for Iwaizumi and crashing into the table but still getting back up while thinking, "Talent is something you make bloom. Instinct is something you polish" that was beautiful! It was a good send off for these characters too.

Those are my top 5! Anyone else want to share there's? I'm so curious!

I think that despite all the mysteries in OnS the one I want answered the most is the identity of the Japanese boy who was brought with Shikama to Japan. “boy”: it could refer to someone between their childhood years to early twenties. Could it be a previous clone of Yuu/Yū? But I don’t think so since I suppose “Yūichiro” was the name given to this Yuu clone who was born in Japan while originally the name “Yuu” was given by angel Michaela in the prehistoric ages so with that context in mind it has no Japanese roots. So is it referring to another person? All the vampires we know have foreigner names. Although some of the apostles’ original names are as Japanese-sounding as their demon names so could it be one of them? Byakkomaru, Gekkōin, Kiseki-Ō or Noya? Meaning that either of these four can receive more backstory in the future than the average apostle? (since other than Ashera the apostles are not given any attention) Or is it maybe a character who hasn’t debuted yet? If so, is he still alive as an immortal? Or did he have any descendants? Was he the one who name Sika Madu as “Shikama Dōji” and gave Shika the idea of giving the apostles Japanese versions of their names? Did he perhaps work with Shika after arriving in Japan in creating Mikado no Oni and carrying out the cursed gear experiments? So many questions😩…

Rereading your third hq@hogwarts and let me just say- I never in a million years would’ve headcannoned Noya as like a miniature Hagrid, but they way you write it it literally makes perfect sense! and it just fits him so well! One of my absolute favorite things about this series (besides being an overall incredible story) is how you were able to slot in hp magical abilities/traits with the hq characters- like Suga being the heir and Kenma being a metamorphmagus. How did you go about assigning those magical abilities to the characters?

Oooh, good question.

So, for Hq at Hogwarts, it's my first fanfic so for a really long time (like years) I spent just thinking about the idea and trying to match characters to characters only with twists. I honestly didn't ever think about writing it because I'd never done that before, I just liked thinking about it. So that gave me a lot of time to come up with ideas until I felt like "well, now I have to write this even if it's only me who thinks it's cool". Constantly blows my mind that so many people ended up liking it so much tbh, ya'll are great

Anyway, back to the main question. So, I planned out the major details of all o the books before I started writing which helped me fit together a lot of the characters' backstories early.

For Noya, I suppose I just thought he would work relly great with wild animals. Plus I'd already planned out that spoiler from the third story. So, when I was mixing aroundplot elements for the first story, I was like ofc Noya needs to be the one with the dragon and ofc he would tell Tanaka about it.

Suga was vaguelly in my Draco-Malfoy-with-a-major-twist stand in role anyway since I thought he'd do well as that character's complete opposite (also the hair, it was probably the silver hair that also inspired me). So, when I was coming up with story 2 one of the main things I like to do is take a main plot point and twist it. That one was "what if Harry/main character actually was the Heir of Slytherin and knew it the whole time". Thus it just flowed really naturally that it should be Suga so it could double well as a literal manifestation of his guilt with his family history and unwillingness to confront it honestly when he can just avoid the more nuanced implications (ie the diary). *Sidenote, Suga is so very much bargaining (dealing with certain factors to deny others) in between Iwaizumi's denial (to accept that he can't always protect Oikawa), Kuroo's anger (internally directed and most apparent when the gorup hits a major block), and Bokuto's depression. It represents how good they are at accepting situations and typically a major issue for them to work through.

For Kenma....Kenma has multicolored hair. Is hairdye even a longterm thing in Harry Potter? Who knows? Boom, metamorphmagus. (Followed by: oh, how can I make this a larger issue that relates to his charcter? Right, the Kuroo's dad thing)

By and large, most charactrs just slowly and gradually fell into ideas I had or ideas about how I could translate their canon plotlines/characterization into Hq.

When Qymaen’s work took him to Coruscant, he liked to tackle his collections from the top-down, starting at the grandiose skyscrapers of the surface and descending through the ecumenopolis into the gritty underworld. He supposed other agents might have preferred the opposite: work their way up from indigence to affluence, get the low profile clients out of the way before enjoying the more lucrative commissions that came from the wealthy upper levels. Qymaen’s priorities, however, lay in what brought him greater pleasure—and he garnered immense satisfaction from releasing a healthy dose of pent-up violence upon deserving parties, most of whom tended to make ends meet in the undercity. He always saved the best for last.

On this particular excursion to Republic City, the best and last saw him ducking into a public refresher to wash the blood from his knuckles while his IG-100 units waited patiently outside.

Qymaen’s position of commander of the Collections and Security Division did not preclude him from continuing his usual collections duties, even minor assignments—not that he minded in the slightest. He did have the means to send forces of droids in his stead and issue orders from the comfort of Muunilinst, and once or twice he conducted his affairs thus, but he knew from the outset such was not his preference. When he was Khagan, he threw himself into battle at every opportunity, and while his assignments for the IGBC hardly qualified as warfare, the sentiment still stood. He took what he could get, and then some.

Perhaps that was why he’d beaten this last client’s face to an unrecognizable pulp after he’d already paid the owed credits. A bit much; remarkably cathartic.

Welp. Types of Outer Wilds player blorbo post because brainworms

I don't think any of this is very spoilery without context but i'm putting it under a cut anyways. If you like story driven exploration games I highly recommend checking it out yourself! :)

With that out of the way..

Neira: Would not enjoy the game much/ get very far on account of being overwhelmed; there is too much to do all at once with too little direction or clear path. Also, visual/sensory reasons (everything Moves Too Much)

Kala: Would not care about the plot but would enjoy just flying around and exploring the planets, even if the whole flying and space business makes her queasy. She avoids Brittle Hollow though, that one's a little too much on the Heights and the Falling. Ember Twin is her favourite :)

Noya: Starts out curious but probably gets stuck cos she tries to brute force through instead of figuring out hints. Admires the art direction and the music for a while but at latest gets stuck because she avoids Ember Twin like the blight (hah. get it. because. deep roads-)

Var'renan: Would start out vaguely interested at best but would get invested in the puzzles, and end up getting very emotional about the plot. Solanum breaks them a little i think

Liam: Would not enjoy the game, it'd be frustrating for him more than anything. He is not one for puzzles or reading, which is, yknow, most of the game lol. Would get frustrated about getting lost and/or getting stuck. Also the story/themes would just make him depressed

Lilian: Would only enjoy it when playing with others, cos then the exploration and theorising would be fun. Will make up elaborate lore and backstories for all the characters (but again only with friends)

June: Would love the game, even though she wouldn't get too invested in the emotional aspect of the story. She will however get invested in the discovery and science aspect of both the story and the game in general. Will definitely complain about all the ways it doesn't make sense lol but will also be impressed by the how the physics in the game work. Would theorise so much about how things like the quantum objects or Dark Bramble work on both an in-universe and meta level (assuming magic still exists lol). Giant's Deep and Dark Bramble give her anxiety but at least Dark Bramble is fascinating in a physics sense. Has a blast exploring and fucking around

Ari: Loves Connecting The Dots (he didn't connect shit) (he's connected them) so the mystery/puzzle aspect is what draws him in. 100% overthinks everything including metatextual things. Probably takes notes despite the ship log. The sun station reveal is where he has to put down the controller and pace evilly and process all that and almost stops playing but he Gets Through It. May or may not actually help him process things irl. May also make him worse! Depends on what he decides his takeaway is <3
