ABOUT HAIKYUU!! Movies and Fukurodani

i’ve been thinking A LOT about the Fukurodani vs Mujinazaka match and whether or not it’s gonna make it to any of the two movies we are getting

I just think there’s a lot to put in just two movies, unless they are like 3 hours long each

And I just hope really really hope they don’t take that away from us gaaaaaahh like there’s a lot going on in that match!!!!

• Akaashis internal monologue, and his self consciousness, and how he is really passionate about volleyball

• Akaashi calling Bokuto a star,

• AKAASHI SMILING AND LAUGHING!!!

• Bokuto being so so freaking awesome and yes he’s a star,

• the crowd cheering for him and bokuto just adores it,

• Konoha being a little ass ignoring bokuto and tossing to Sarukui instead

• Fukurodanis coach and Suzumeda considering Akaashi is a weirdo too

• Akaashi just being so fkng proud of bokuto and could you blame him,

• all of bokutos tender smiles when he tells akaashi his tosses are the best

ok so i love the “we are the protagonists of the world” an ABNORMAL amount but the fukurodani-mujinazaka game has so many other BANGER lines that i think we forget in the face of that one. like. that whole game makes me so fucking insane. i want to unpack the whole thing so so so bad but i am so tired all the time.

but like. some other insaneeeee lines:

“don’t let them break you bokuto.” (kuroo, chp. 330)

“the idle fleeting thought that he was a star crossed my mind.” (akaashi about bokuto, chp. 331)

“bokuto is the kind of person that compels you to give it your all, because you know he’s giving it his all” (akaashi, chp. 331)

then the full context of the protagonists line, which i think gets forgotten a lot and it deserves BETTER: “no matter what other people may say, we are the protagonists of the world. but it wasn’t like i chose to go to fukurodani with great ambition in my heart. i am glad i could be at fukurodani.” (akaashi, chp. 331)

“how laughably presumptuous of myself. as if someone like me could sway the game…with a star before my eyes, all there is left for me to do is to ‘play as i have always done, and deliver.’ …the only things you can control are your own thoughts and actions.” (akaashi, chp. 333)

anyways i’m normal about this game i’m so normal about it i read it a normal amount of times per month and i am soooooo okay and fine about all of this and if it doesn’t get animated i will be a regular amount of upset about it

Nothing has ever had me on the clouds to then let me down so horribly as the haikyu movie post credit scene , because that speech about how there's people that actually know they are here to win cuts to bokuto in the manga so I was like maaaaaybe they will give us some mujinazaka content but then it cut to hoshiumi and shoyo and I almost threw a royal hissy fit in the theater.

Top 5 favorite Haikyuu games!

I'm still riding that buzz after watching the Haikyuu movie and after sorting my thoughts and giddiness, I thought I'd make a list of my top favorite Haikyuu volleyball games!

The Battle at the Garbage Dump/The Dumpster Battle (Karasuno vs. Nekoma): This isn't just because of the movie, I genuinely love this game! It's so good! Kenma's strategy and genuinely finding love for the sport was the biggest highlight! I will forever love Kuroo's and Kenma's backstory and Hinata's struggle but never giving up. That shot if the crow breaking out of the cage, the shot of Hinata and Kenma's knife fight. Heck, the movie making the last bit full on Kenma's POV! Everything was so good!

Karasuno vs. Inarizaki: Another game where so many things came together. From Noya's struggle and inner conflict, to Tanaka realizing that he's average but he's never giving up, Kinoshita realizing he's also important, all of it was so good! And Inarizaki is just a great team, introducing so many great characters (Kita, I love you!) The ending of that match will forever be my favorite of Hinata and Kageyama knowing how to stop their own quick.

Fukurodani vs. Mujinazaka: I like Kiryu. We should've had more of him and his team~ (I was rooting for them).

Karasuno vs. Date Tech: The revenge match! Where Asahi gets his confidence fully back, Noya puts all that training to use, Hinata realizing how great being a decoy is! It's the highlight of season one for me!

Karasuno vs. Aoba Johsai (2nd time): This match is what made me appreciate Oikawa. I will forever have that moment of him setting for Iwaizumi and crashing into the table but still getting back up while thinking, "Talent is something you make bloom. Instinct is something you polish" that was beautiful! It was a good send off for these characters too.

Those are my top 5! Anyone else want to share there's? I'm so curious!

Lance Week '22 Ultra-Delayed Crosspost, Day ??? So last year, Day 6 was Crossover Day, a theme for which I had many ideas, given smashing different yet similar things together is one of my favourite pastimes! I thankfully also had some legacy art in the can, as in the end, I only finished this about 10 months after the original posting date xD I love the Haikyuu manga, and I love the Fukurodani vs Mujinazaka match's brief but piercing look at Mujinazaka's captain, Wakatsu Kiryu. The ace player and national top-ranked power hitter of the aggresive blue-and-orange themed team, who struggles with his relationship to strength and leadership and tries to shoulder his entire team's burdens himself... now doesn't that sound familiar

Well, given how the anime is now being wrapped up in two movies, Lance and Kiryu can most probably vibe together in the 'eternally benched' zone for characters who deserve better... but they can also hang out here and put the fear into their opposition with some serious hyper beams!
