To Some Pro-Palestinian Spaces

Please stop excusing Hamas, like, fuck Israel and its war crimes obviously, but please stop acting like Hamas has improved the lives of the people in Gaza. It's like nuance is lost on some people. And don't say that Hamas is defending Palestinians or is acting in self-defense, they're only interest is their own group, as with any authoritarian actor (basic IR, also Israel's an authoritarian actor as well so same applies for them). Again, the best alternative is for at the very least, a more moderate Fatah-like government to preside over Palestine as a crucial first step to improving Palestinian government. Israel and Hamas must be held accountable for the hardship they've caused Palestinians over the decades. As much as I'd like for a one state solution with Israelis and Palestinians coexisting, we must focus on accountability and punishing Likud, Hamas, and far-right Israeli nationalist actors for perpetuating a constant state of conflict and oppressive rule. Give Palestinians in the West Bank their land back from unlawful settlers, and become more heavy-handed with Israel and actually call out their behavior. They've gotten away with so many atrocities since their creation, the time is now (or I should say yesterday) to stop it; they've created the ingredients for Hamas and other militant groups to form, and the far-right Netanyahu does not want peace, and so props up Hamas as to prolong conflict and the terrorizing of the Palestinian people.

i’ve been thinking about innocuous photos like the one on the left. because it is my job to neglect the sprouts of imperialism and racism that accompanied my upbringing, i've been attempting to find solidarity even in the innocuous. and how easily it comes: marah and i, both schoolgirls who like cute things, both compelled by the desire to photograph our supplies after arranging them to be just-so. the photo on the right is an old one of mine.

“how much do i have in common with a palestinian?”

i think the answer would be “everything.” maybe you’re united by the love you have for your pets, being fans of the same goth rock band, or the fact that, were something of severity to happen to your family, you’d also be online, asking for help in a way your elders might find it hard to wrap their heads around, and making sure people knew they could trust your campaign.

and if this were a message you were sending, i hope that your hope would remain in tact, because people like us, on the other end, would be doing everything they could to help you.

I honestly don’t know how people automatically believe what the IDF puts out, how could they even identify which “militants” were killed among the dead at the school when not even the civil defence agency could identify the martyrs due to bodies being cut up into pieces? Or are they just going off intel which doesn’t always turn out to be accurate? Or even a list of names which doesn’t always correlate to the actual individuals they’re after?

why does it always gotta be "oh im a communist but not like those marxists leninists-" we had this debate. in the 1800s. in fact marx AND lenin wrote about it: you are either for some nebulous idea of communal living that gets you nowhere OR you realize that you have to start from the current material conditions, and organize, and the organization has to be centralized for it to work and you have to study a lot and also act in group because going to protests on your own is just perpetuating an individualist ideology. they were saying marx was outdated in 1915!! guess what happened two years later. like you can incorporate all you want from feminism and queer theory and even anarchy but at the end of it all. only one line of action can bring about revolution, has revolution as its objective and has in fact done so before. it's marxism leninism. you have just been conditioned to think it's outdated so you wouldn't use the only weapon that actually works! people cant afford to eat and the west's quest to maintain economic hegemony is pushing us into ww3 and you will not use the concepts of plusvalue, imperialism, and political party, why? because the ruling class told you identity politics are more modern?

honestly the positioning of common-sense sun protection- hats, parasols/sun umbrellas, sunscreen, etc. -as either prissy and affected or unnecessary anti-aging obsession is one of the most dangerous lines we've collectively been fed as a society, for 100 years now

like I get where it all started, I do. there ARE health benefits to sun exposure in moderation, those were starting to be understood around the 1910s, and the 1920s fancied themselves the inventors of science and Women Doing Things OutdoorsTM because of some discoveries made and voting rights gained around that time. tanning was the new miracle cure! it meant you were outdoors and active- with no consideration that the "active" part might be what made people feel good, not so much the endless sun exposure! it spoke to European or tropical holidays!

(if you were white. if you had natural, healthy dark skin, no dice; keep rubbing heavy metals on your body to look lighter. there's just no winning)
