Had a facepalm moment earlier of discovering the brilliant fic you wrote for someoneās Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan prompt and hoping youād write more, and thenā¦several days laterļæ½ļæ½realizingā¦PROMPTS. Thatās how this works. Anyway, canāt believe I didnāt send you one earlier, but: Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan for "I missed youā, if youāre up for it?
Let Me Count the Ways ask game
It had been a long, exhausting day, but Obi-Wan didn't feel tired in the least. Packing up all of his belongings (few as they were) and moving them across the Dune Sea would have been a tiring endeavor, even if he hadn't just come from a harrowing trip halfway across the galaxy. And then, of course, there was a new cave to find, preliminary preparations to be made before nightfall in order to make his new home habitable...but none of that mattered.
Wrapping his cloak around himself against the chill of the desert night, Obi-Wan sat on the shelf of rock where he'd placed his bedroll. He pulled his legs up onto the blanket, closed his eyes, and opened himself to the Force.
Warmth and light that had nothing to do with his small heating unit suffused him from the inside out. For a moment, he hesitated. Then he reached out tentatively and murmured, āMaster Qui-Gon?ā
āObi-Wan.ā
His eyes popped open, and there, sitting beside him on the rock as if he'd been there the whole time, was Qui-Gon. Translucent and tinged blueālike a hologram and yet notāQui-Gon looked the same as he had the day he'd died. The same twinkle in his eyes, the same hint of humor lingering in the creases at the corners of his eyes, in the twitch of his beard, in the lilt of his voice....
āYou're here,ā was all Obi-Wan could think to say.
Qui-Gon nodded patiently. āSo I am.ā
āI missed you.ā Unbidden, tears welled up in his eyes. āI missed you so much, Qui-Gon.ā
Qui-Gon's eyebrows knitted together with a look of sympathy. āI know.ā
If he'd been here physically, he would have reached out and placed a reassuring hand on Obi-Wan's shoulder. Now, he didn't move, but Obi-Wan felt a gentle ripple in the Force washing over him, warm and familiar. Obi-Wan closed his eyes to savor that feeling, something he hadn't experienced in so long.
How many times a day would Obi-Wan feel that presence brush against his, like the touch of a hand? Checking to see where the other was, reassurance in a moment of trouble, a brief reminder or admonishment that needed no words. As unique and unmistakable as a voice, as a fingerprint forever marked in his soul.
And yet, for some twenty-odd years, he hadn't felt Qui-Gon's presence even once.
When Obi-Wan opened his eyes, he felt like a boy again. Like that twelve-year-old boy who had just become a Padawan and wondered if he would ever truly please his Master.
āI needed you,ā he whispered, the desperation in his own voice surprising him. āI called to you, again and again. Where were you?ā
Qui-Gon's eyes were as kind as ever as he folded his arms inside the voluminous sleeves of his robe. āTell me, Padawan: What happens to us when we die?ā
Now he really did feel like a boy again. This was a question even the youngest of younglings could answer. āWe become one with the Force.ā
Qui-Gon nodded, as though that settled the matter.
It didn't take a genius to understand what Qui-Gon was getting at. The dead became one with the Force, and the Force was a Jedi's constant companion. In a way, Qui-Gon had never really left.
And yet, Obi-Wan still couldn't shake the feeling of abandonment. He dropped his gaze to his hands clasped in his lap. āThere have been so many times I needed your guidance, Master,ā he whispered. āAnd never, not once, did I hear your voice.ā
āAnd were you listening?ā Qui-Gon's voice was gentle, oh so gentle, but still it made shame swirl in Obi-Wan's gut.
Because he hadn't been listening. He had closed himself off from the Force for so long, terrified of being found out, of being hunted down, of unintentionally betraying Luke to those who would kill him in an instant. And if he didn't leave even the slightest crack open for the Force to seep through, that meant Qui-Gon couldn't reach him either.
He really was like a child. A child with his fingers in his ears, demanding to know why no one would talk to him.
A warm brush of the Force, like a consoling hand placed on his back. Qui-Gon didn't even have to say anything, because he had already said it a thousand times, in a thousand situations over the years they'd worked together. Accept the shame, then let it go. You are not your mistakes. Learn from them, and they will help you grow.
Taking a deep breath, Obi-Wan envisioned his lungs filling with stale air from the years he had languished here on Tatooine. The years he had let the burden of his guilt press down on his shoulders till he could hardly raise his head in the morning. Then he breathed out, imagining the guilt and shame floating out like wisps of smoke on the air.
Opening eyes he hadn't realized he'd closed, Obi-Wan turned to look at Qui-Gon again. āI called to you when I went to face Vader.ā
Qui-Gon nodded, eyes warm with compassion. āI was there.ā
āI needed you...so many times...here on Tatooine.ā
āI was there.ā
Qui-Gon's form wavered, and Obi-Wan blinked, letting tears trickle into his beard. āWhen...I went to confront Anakin...on Mustafar...when I-I thought that I had...that I had....ā
All he could see was his master's eyes, full of sympathy and compassion, understanding and acceptance. āI was there, Obi-Wan.ā
For a moment, he held Qui-Gon's gaze. Then he dropped his head into his hands and let the tears flow. āSo...every time....ā
āAlways.ā
āYou saw...every time I've failed....ā
āAnd every success.ā Like a warm blanket, Qui-Gon's presence folded around him in an embrace he felt in the depths of his soul. āI am proud of you, Obi-Wan. You have become a greater man and a greater Jedi than I ever could have foreseen.ā
The heat of the twin suns seemed lodged permanently in Obi-Wan's chest. āOnly because of your guidance, Master.ā
They smiled at each other, and even though they looked nothing like they had when Obi-Wan had been an apprentice, the connection between them was as strong as ever.
#ask and you shall receive#pathetic-life-form#let me count the ways#ask games#star wars#obi-wan kenobi#qui-gon jinn#post-kenobi show#(but not really any spoilers for it)#this is a fic idea i've had ever since i first watched the show#originally it was going to be a 5+1 thing but i never got enough inspiration for that#so i was really glad to have this excuse to write the main scene i was actually interested in writing!#even so i'm kind of ambivalent about how it turned out#mostly because i stalled out for like a month in the middle of this#burnout + the sickest i've been in ten years will do that to ya x.x#anyway sorry it took so long to get to but i hope you like this!#p.s. kudos to anyone who noticed the cs lewis influence on this scene (i couldn't resist!) :P

i watched BOBF finally this week and while i get the criticism it was fun enough & cad bane looked cool as hell. i liked the powerpuff girl power rangers on their little scooters & have accepted them into my tatooine worldbuilding canon. i think itās nice to see tatooine shown as being / becoming a diverse community where people of all vibes can find their niche and help each other out. i liked that the droid lady mentioned being content with never having been off-world. star wars is so big and vast that sometimes itās nice to see people making the best of & enjoying their own little life at home wherever that may be. i think all critique on scripts and production value is valid but you can just say āitās campā and move on if you want to have fun, which i do. itās camp!
#book of boba fett#book of boba fett spoilers#kinda not really but just in case#anyway it has silly comfort show vibes. andor iāll watch when i want my mind blown to pieces. this iāll watch when iām sick#kenobi show iāll watch when i want to howl into my pillow at night. you get it

kit's list of obikin fic recs in no particular order
y'all asked and i finally answered.....here's a list of fics i've read and adored this year! note that i've tagged things that i think could squick people (a/b/o dynamics, weird biology, dub con, heavy kink, etc), and i've noted the ratings (explicit, mature, teen), but i have not noted top/bottom (this list contains a pretty even split of both) and i havenāt indicated which are WIPs - take a chance! i've left little paragraphs as to why i liked the fic but i tried to keep spoilers out of them so the story can be a surprise :D
remember to leave a comment and a kudos if you enjoyed the fic :D
Igneous - zimriya Notes: Explicit, A/B/O dynamics, canon compliant, series!
Trying to find this fic so I could reread it was the thing that prompted me to make this list. Thatās how amazing this fic is. It tears out your heart strings. It hurts. I love it. Itās soft. It makes me cry. I am never going to recover from this perfect retelling of canon. This hurts just as much as the kenobi show. I owe this author a medical bill and a thank you card. I donāt care if a/b/o isnāt your thing or omega obi-wan isnāt your thing i need you to try reading this fic i really do because itās just honestly superb and beautiful prose and i think about some of these lines near daily. Ok, fine. Daily.
Iād Never Be Me (Without The Support of Your Loving Arms) by euryriceĀ Notes: Explicit
i donāt think iāll ever stop talking or thinking about this fic, itās up there for meā¦.such a good take on a bond/spy au that I donāt think Iāll ever seriously try at one myself because itād never be āiād never be me without the support of your loving armsā; itās just so well thought through. Canon lovingly applied. Kit beautifully moved and hungry for a second part of the series, even though it doesnāt even need a second part and is perfect as a stand alone. Witty banter rating: 10/10
Hooked On You by @whohatessand Notes: Explicit, infidelity, side anidala (padmƩ is being cheated on)
Dirty bad wrong never felt so good though; Anakin is cheating on his wife with her campaign manager. Anakin is very not satisfied with being a trophy husband, and honestly itās so valid of him. This is so well-written that Anakinās frustration with his life, his wife, his duties all feels very real and understandable. Does that excuse the cheating and the spit-as-lube fucking at a donor ball? Nah, but they know it doesnāt. And it ends on a very hopeful obikin note, which is my favorite
The Final Frontier of Pleasure by @jedibongrip Notes: Explicit, bp!Anakin, virginity kink (ish?)
āJust the tipā made into a very hot 2k fic wherein anakinās definitely not a virgin anymore, but obi-wanās gonna go along with it if it makes him happy (and means that he gets to keep touching him, god bless); note to say that all of this authorās stuff is very good!
Stars To Fill My Dreams by hidden_humours Notes: Explicit, reverse master/padawan, dark Anakin
Anakin is teetering on going off the walls insane in this fic and I am so here for it. This is just amazing. I love a padawan obi-wan and I especially love this time-travel with a twist (which I wonāt spoil!); the summary even says āyeah this anakin isnāt all thereā and the author is right!!! 100%!! I love it. I want to poke this Anakin with a stick. I want to push him off his metaphorical cliff of sanity. I want to push Obi-Wan off a cliff just to see what this Anakin would do. What a fic. What a goddamn fic.
Obi-Two by @virahaus Notes: Explicit, Obi-Wan/Anakin/Obi-Wan
Guys, holy shit I am so excited for this WIP you have no idea. Everything about it is delicious so far. The Obi-Wan that gets zapped back in time just before ROTS/Order 66 is living to see twunk Anakin again and he is so soft yet so commanding about it. Ben!Obi-Wan literally kills me in this fic. If thereās never another chapter, Iām begging you to read this anyway, itās that good.
Vast as the sea, constant as the tide by @moonlightatnoon Notes: Explicit, pirate!anakin, captain!Obi-Wan
So maybe Kitās attention was captured and held by the sea-themed titleā¦sheās a simple lady. But this fic is absolutely beautiful.Ā I love the intrigue, the history, the pining of it all. My attention, much like Obi-Wan, was gently captured and held hostage by pirate Anakin and the way heās like āmy obi-wan <3 mine <3ā while also being a whole ass pathetic lil mew mew of a pirate. He is so possessive and fearsome and clingy and needy I love this Anakin and how much he needs his Obi-Wan. I love the ending especially! Beautifully done.
Buns of Steel by @ragnarlothcat Notes: Explicit, humor, himbos the both of themĀ
Put this under Fics That Make Kit Want To Join A Gym. I love the humor here (Rag has such a legendary way with a great turn of phrase and pacing of jokes that just makes the fic fly by) and the ridiculousness of it all. Obi-Wan here is extremely lovably bitchy and I adore it. His dialogue is quite polite, but this is a fic where the narration really makes the characterization pop. Also the amount of lusting after his beautiful aerobics instructor that Obi-Wan doesā¦and how UNFAIR he finds Anakinās beauty. Just amazing. Cheering for Obi-Wan living his best life and getting the hot aerobics instructor in the end.
My Thoughts I Confess (Verge On Dirty) by @artemisthehuntress Notes: Explicit, horny, horny, horny Obi-Wan
This is, of course, the other fic filed under Fics That Make Kit Want To Join A Gym. I love Anakin in booty shorts. I love Obi-Wan, head empty and no thoughts because his dick is too goddamn hard to see straight. One should not be exercising under such conditions. The humor here is impeccable. Love all of Obi-Wanās fantasies with the hot guy working out next to him. If youāre a fan of horny-grip Obi-Wan, this is the fic for you! If youāre not as into horny-grip Obi-Wan, Iād say this fic is still worth the read because itās just written so well.
just like the days weād burn by @travellingcircus Notes: Explicit, PTSD mentions, heavy
I was always going to rec one of travellingcircusā fics of course. They are a fantastic writer and I love their fics - especially the long oneshots that consume my entire night when I see that oneās been posted and I get to delve into a new side of obikin I could never imagine. This fic is one of my favorites by them ā and maybe one of my favorite modern aus all together. Anakin has a racing career until he has an accident. Then he goes back to his small town and decides to have Obi-Wan instead because first love (I love first love fics especially in modern aus)!! Also Obi-Wan has a motorbike. This is excellent news. He also has helmet hair. I love Anakin in this fic so much. Heās crazy. Heās wounded. Heās obsessed. Heās in love. Heās desperate. And Anakin makes Obi-Wan all these things too. Such a good modern au for these characters. They feel so close to their canon characters, itās marvelous.
Where Every Mask Cracks by skyl_tales Notes: Explicit, a spin-off of one of their other fics, but can be standalone
Skyl_talesā fics for me are the very definition of fandom classic. They were the first fics I read and I continue to reread them roughly maybe once every year at least. Theyāre just all very readable. The writing style is something I have always loved and envied ā their fics are approachable and entertaining, no matter how much you know or donāt know about Star War at the time of your reading. Tbh I think this is the fic author who has influenced my writing the most! I love this fic in particular because I do have a soft spot for vaderwan. Old Ben being delightfully torn up over Vader and Vader being delightfully unhinged about his former masterā¦..with a magical fix-it device that restores both of them to their younger, strongest selves (if only to make the fucking easier and the horny insatiable)
Gay Chicken by zimriya Notes: Explicit, enemies to lovers, light daddy kink
Where to begin with this fic!!! I guess I cannot stress enough how much I love humor in fics when done right and this is done so well. Like it is literally so funny and so normal. There is something so beautiful about putting these space monk superheroes into like. Just situations. This fic is about laundry. But also upstairs neighbors. But also lost loves??? Iām always a bit hesitant for fics with a lot of notes/messages, because I can find that hard to read, but this was very, very easy to read, both format-wise and flow of the story wise. I love them both being assholes to each other.Ā Love them slowly becoming friends through notes under the monikers ā501ā and ā212ā. LOVE the twist.
wildest dreams by kidhuzural Notes: Explicit, 5+1 fic
Basically: Baby Anakin wants to get married to Obi-Wan. Teenager padawan Anakin wants to marry Obi-Wan. Clone Wars Anakin wants to marry Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan wants to marry Clone Wars Anakin. I love love love fics that start out with baby padawan Anakin and have him grow up. It places so much emphasis on their master&padawan relationship and how important they were to each other before AOTC or TCW, which I think is the strongest basis for obikin. Also this Anakin is just so cute and Obi-Wan cares for his baby padawan so much!! All in all, this fic is just so sweet. Obsessed.
In Pursuit of Cold Water by @jswander Notes: Mature, Merman!Anakin
Can I have a fic rec list that doesnāt include this fic?? I love this fic. I think I reread it like twenty times while waiting for the last chapter, and it was worth it and gripping and incredible each time. I am fascinated by writers who can worldbuild, and Jo worldbuilds so well in this mermaid AU. I love the descriptions of their fins; the possessiveness, the hurt, the anger, the jadeness, and the naivete of Anakin somehow all existing in the same character and all being so justified. Thereās some really heavy moments and also really silly moments (they dress Anakin up as an old lady to avoid detection at one point). I love the development of their relationship and especially the growth of their mental bond. Such a good translationĀ of their Force bond in canon (and such a clever work-around for a mermaid not speaking English!) Just an amazing fic. So good.
The Devilās In The Details by @ragnarlothcat Notes: Explicit, demon Anakin, darker!Anakin (because of the demon bit)
Back at it again with my Rag-writing obsession! Iām loving this WIP and how evil and innocent Anakin is. Yeah, heās a demon haunting Obi-Wanās new house; yeah, heās killed like. A ton of people. But heās so pathetic. So very eager to please. So very attractive. As a reader, youāre like Obi-Wanās friend, Quinlan, who discovers Obi-Wan sleeping with a literal demon, and youāre like ābestie, do you not know? Thatās a literal demon?ā and obi-wan is like āhe is quite polite and does so good on our walks around townā and youāre like āyouāre taking him on walks???ā but also you canāt help but root for demon Anakin and poor decision-maker Obi-Wan. Also, once again, I love Ragās humor and timing of it. The narration Obi-Wan has is so colorful and so fucking funny, I snort all the time. Heās such a bitch. Heās amazing.
By Omission by @posthumousvigor Notes: Explicit, reverse master/padawan au, drunk sex
This writer is very quickly becoming one of my favorites. I love their prose and the way they write Obi-Wanāespecially padawan!Obi-Wan with Master Anakin. One of my favorite dynamics for obikin aus, and this writer gives me so much good food. TBH one of my all-time favorite cliches/tropes is one of them getting dressed up out of their Jedi robes to be put in Situations, and I especially love this for Obi-Wan cause Anakin got a whole movie of dressing up for funsies, and this fic delivers. Master Skywalker comes back early from a mission to find his padawan slutting it up in the Lower Levels, and what is a man to do other than snap?? And he snaps so beautifully in this fic. I love it when theyāre horny beyond reason for each other.
how to stay by answersinahauntedclub Notes: Explicit, professor/student relationship
I know logically that this fic probably will not update again, but it is so beautiful and I think about it all the time. It is like. The peak of college/university aus in this fandom. Bold statement, I know, but I love this fic and characterization so much that I am stating it. Theyāre both disasters. They canāt resist each other even if they really, really should. Itās an incredible read and I am fascinated by both this Obi-Wan and this Anakin. Cannot stress enough the lovable disasters that they are. In writing this, I took an hour break and reread it again.
weāre swimming with the sharks (until we drown) by @obiwaned Notes: Teen, fake/pretend relationship
Getting this update notification felt like such a sweet sweet win for me. I loved the premise as soon as I read it and it just keeps getting better. Fake marriage for any reason is always amazing. I also LOVE non-linear timelines and this writer does it so well because you as the reader donāt get lost and confused trying to keep the timeline straight. Itās delectable, itās straightforward, itās so easy to devour, and I am obsessed with this fic and even the possibility of more.
Self-Insert by ZenyZootSuit Notes: Teen, crack
God this is so funny in a very crack way. Short and funny and perfect. Darth Vader writes self-insert fanfiction about being with Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Darth Sidious finds out. Imperial secrets are leaked, but Iām sure those were important details he needed to include!! For context! Realism! Absolutely perfect; no notes.
Open Circle by Calyss Note: Explicit, Dark Obi-Wan, dom/sub (under)tones, seduction to the Dark side
This is also one of my annual rereads, and one of my absolute favorite Sith Obi-Wans in the fandom. I love how out of control this sith Obi-Wan is, how very obsessed with just Anakin he is. Sith Obi-Wan really said āheās mineā and heās gonna destroy Anakinās marriage and the whole galaxy to prove it. And also Anakin is not going to say no or resist much at all because thatās his master and he loves him and has weird feelings for him he has not really examined. This is also such an id fic of mine. But no regrets putting it on the list. When I saw it updated in October 2022, I literally cleaned my room and improved my life before I sat down to read it.
How to Save a Galactic Republic Without Really Trying by @sharpest-tongue Notes: Mature, Post Kenobi show
So many amazing fics came out of the Kenobi show but this absolutely has to be one of my favorites. Thereās humor, thereās touching moments, thereās Star Wars lingo I didnāt know but that made the whole thing feel very much in-universe (and that I have now incorporated into my Star Wars Wikipedia slash Dictionary for later use, even if itās all made up). I love a time travel fic, has to be said, and this one delivers perfectly. The Jedi as family in this fic really made me emotional. Extra special shout out to Obi-Wan, raising his padawan again in a do-over, and thinking, āi was not this bad as a teenager wtf?? Yeah ok whatever i MAY have fought in TWO WARS at that age but still!!!ā love him. Love his obvious blind spots for anakin and also for himself. Such a good fic!!!
broken bones, thunder drums by @maragny Notes: Teen, hurt/comfort
There is so much to love about this fic and I love it all. Clone War fics are like my bread and butter in this fandom. I love obikin fics that take place in the middle of battle where the reader is confronted with the reality of either Anakin or Obi-Wan fighting ā and this fic really starts by throwing you into the action in such a visceral, effective way that I was stressed! I was gripped! It makes Anakin hiding his injury feel not only understandable but also like the only option. Good think Obi-Wan is there to save the day and help Anakin through his pain because he is overprotective and in love with him. Also the first chapter is told from Rexās point of view, which just. One of my favorite outsider POVs for obikin is Rex.
no news is good news by @rhymenoceros Notes: Mature, crack, relationship reveal, breaking news/news cycle format
This fic is so funny! The tone is perfect for what the writer sets out to do ā that is, make the reader feel like theyāre caught up in a social media news cycle! Thereās talk shows, thereās paparazzi, thereās space reddit, thereās leaked Jedi text conversationsā¦.the Jedi screen names are hilarious and easy to tell who is who while still staying true to the joke. Cannot recommend this fic enough. Cute, funny, horny, and with that sweet sweet Palpatine downfall that the best cracky fics always have.
Falling Deep Into You by @dark--whisperings Notes: Explicit, dom/sub tones, so much pining
Any fic that has the tag āObi-Wan Kenobi is a freak in bedā has my attention and my interest. This writer describes Anakin subbing and Obi-Wan domming so very beautifully that itās almost a manifesto in 8k. Lots of good sex here, but I really love the opening scene and the push and pull the writerās given the characters. They want each other so muchāObi-Wan wants so much, but alas! Religious guilt on par with catholicism! Of course the nasty freaky sex fiend in Obi-Wan wins out over the Jedi Master, but I really enjoyed the guilt and the way he gives in and goes to find Anakin because of course he does. And then the ending! A resetting of the chess board so that the game can start over tomorrow. A great fic all in all!
you took my love so tenderly by @billboguspreston & @acrylicsalts-inspo Notes: Explicit, prince/guard dynamic, exhibitionism
I started reading this fic when it was first posted, and I followed it attentively and with baited breath. I love the reverse age dynamic (I know, itās not for everyone, but I lovelovelove it), and I love that this Obi-Wan is such a spitfire. He knows what he wants and thatās for his silent, restrained, older, handsome bodyguard to snap and fuck him and he WILL brat his way into getting what he wants as is his right. Anakin being both incredibly horny (Anakin horny-gripping the pommel of his sword because Obi-Wan has decided to get off right in front of him to see if he can tempt him into fucking him) is amazing. Obi-Wan being both the aggressor and also the inexperienced one is chefās fucking kiss and a dynamic I do not see often enough. So worth the read. And there may be more sequels??? Be still my beating heart!
I Wanna Be Owned by @kyberkenobi Notes: Explicit, 5+1 things, light BDSM
Speaking of horny grip lol, I had to think for a bit about which fic from this writer to choose because all of them are very good and very very smutty with all sorts of kinks and dynamics. The writer you go to for mean dom Obi-Wan and if youāre feeling up for discovering a kink you werenāt sure you were into before. Thereās plenty of amazing fics on her ao3 (I was also immediately obsessed with the recent alpha/alpha one), but this fic is one of my favorites. I love the style of a 5+1 for a fic, and I am obsessed with casual slut (affectionate) Obi-Wan and Anakinās blinders of his master slowly being pulled away until he HAS to confront the reason Obi-Wan can untie and hogtie a criminal they caught so damn quickly. Itās indecent. Itās amazing.Ā
Our Man From Tatooine by kazmir Notes: Explicit, a/b/o dynamics, intersex omegas
This story is such a good, quick, enthralling read. I really canāt say much without spoiling it, but itās worth the read. Dark Obikin, twists and turns, roleplaying, horny mates being unable to resist the otherās drawā¦.so goodā¦.One of those fics I paused to reread while reccing it lol
Acts of Contrition by @marycontraire Notes: A series, ranging from Gen - Explicit
Cheating a little bit to rec you all a series instead because I just reread this fic series and fell in love with it all over again. Literally a fandom classic for me. The world building is amazing, the realism and research really pays off because it creates such a rich world for people to dive into. The Tatooine culture is so rich and interesting, and I love this Anakin especially. Itās a very realistic take on if Anakin had been expelled from the Order for the Tusken massacre. This Anakin is darker and clingier and Obi-Wan is trying to keep himself level and sane and something Anakin can cling to while still being a Jedi in all but name. Every installment of this series is gold and worth reading as quickly as possible just to have this in your mind faster. Also worth a slow read to savor it because unfortunately, you can only read a fic series like this for the first time once.
You can call me baby (you can call me love) by @lilredghost Notes: Explicit, 5 + 1
This fic is so sweet that I honestly forgot it was explicit - even though, yes, it opens with a sex scene lmao! But I love this writerās explicit fics so much (their ao3 is worth a browse) that I am not disappointed in it being explicit, no sir. Obi-Wan gets upset when Anakin calls him an old man repeatedly and Iāve read this fic so much that when I see repeated use of āold manā in other fics Iām like ā! no! His feelings!!!ā this fic ALSO has anakin calling obi-wan baby <3Ā so good so sweet so perfect.
take my hand through the flames by @atornpage Notes: Explicit, vaderwan, seduction to the Dark Side
Oh this may just be the WIP I am most excited to see updated! Itās such a clever and unique concept that Iām on the edge of my seat to see where the writer takes the story next. There are not enough stories where a character falls into a coma and time passes around them, and this is so perfect. I adore fics where baby Anakin is clingy and obsessed with Obi-Wan and everyone around them is like āthis is not REALLY the Jedi way, guysā, and this fic has SO much of that. I canāt wait to see all the promises of the tags come to fruition and am massively enjoying the ride to get there!
Heal Me, My Darling by @wasureneba Notes: Explicit, sick fic, idiots in love
Who doesnāt love a sick fic?? The tender healingā¦the careā¦the rotten workā¦not to me, not if itās you, etc etcā¦this fic is such a good sick fic too, I was here for the entire thing! Anakin is in top whiny form and Obi-Wan is cuddling him left and right! I also love Anakin having a praise kink in this fic ā it made me soft and so receptive to the idea again when I was getting tired of seeing it as a default in a ton of fics. But this fic said āObi-Wan tells Anakin heās doing good while touching his ass to administer a very important for plot reasons shot and Anakin bursts into flamesā and I said āabsolutely and understandable, please tell me what happens next.ā This is like a perfect sick fic for me. The right balance of sweet and horny. Caring Obi-Wan and whiny because heās bored! Anakin. God-tier combination.
ĪĻĻĻĪæĻ by NFx Notes: Explicit, stockholm syndrome typical of hades & persephone aus
I am always here for a good Hades&Persephone AU and I feel like this is a great one! I especially love AUs that carefully place Star Wars GFFA characters into an established world (like Greek mythology in this case), and take care to match up the side characters of the GFFA with the AU characters theyāre being transposed on. I like the pace and narration of this one too, the way the tone feels both readable and still old ā the dialogue and narration donāt read like a BBC documentary set in Ancient Greece where everyone just sort of speaks like theyāre in a Shakespeare play for some reason, but itās still sorta oldish/stiffer dialogue that really keeps you in the fic universe without alienating readers. Also, horny. But dark horny. Love a darker Anakin.Ā

One of my all-time favorites, I think, and if you haven't read it or haven't reread it recently, you need to! The answer to my poll
Re mispellings: for people who thought I did this on purpose to trick you, you are giving me way too much credit. It wasnāt a trick question I just didnāt check the spellings.
For the people who keep telling me. Iām a pedantic nerd I get the urge to correct spelling, it doesnāt really matter. I did not expect this to blow up I thought like two people would see it. My mistake, Iām aware.
(Some spoilers)
Read till the end for a surprise!
1. Max Rebo-Real-itās a crying shame people donāt recognize renound jizz wailer Max Rebo, people these days have no culture. RIP Max you wouldāve loved Chapelle Roan.
Sy Snootles-Real-The myth, the legend, the icon.
Hondo Ohnaka-Real-Basically Star Wars does Captain Jack Sparrow, one of my favorite characters. (Piping hot take, heās basically better Han Solo, I am prepared to be dragged through the comments for this opinion.)
Cham Syndulla-Real-people kept saying that they recognized the last name, but not the first of one of the characters. Itās either this one or another character below. He is a rebel Twiālek who fought in the Clone Wars and later lead the Free Ryloth movement to liberate his home world (Ryloth) from the Empire. He is pretty isolationist and doesnāt like to work with the larger rebellion, which is why he clashes with his daughter Hera who is a rebel pilot, general and leader of Specter Cell.
Biggs Darklighter-Real-A lot of people thought he was a parody of Luke Skywalker, which is hilarious, but he is real, he was Lukeās best friend from Tatooine. And was in some cut New Hope Scenes. He joined the Imperial Academy, then defected to the rebellion. Where he as killed at the battle of Yavin. Most importantly he has a glorious mustache.
Weāll come back to Tula Bonobo who many of you correctly pointed out was the fake.
Owen Lars-Real-Has the distinct honor of having the most boring name in Star Wars; He is Lukeās Uncle who raises him when dear old dad goes a little murdery. Sadly dies by way of being related to a fantasy protagonist on their heroes journey. A fate for 9/10 fictional uncles.
Garazeb āZebā Orrelios-Real-Ah a Tumblr favorite, Zeb is one of the last surviving Lasat after the Empire massacred his planet. He is a member of Spector Cell. He of course (and this is 100% canon cause I said so) flies off into the sunset with his husband Kallus at the end of the Rebels T.V. Show.
Elan Sleezbagano-Real- yes, heās actually real. He tries to sell drugs to Obi-Wan Kenobi, that is all.
Qui-Gon Jinn-Real-Obi-Wanās hippie Jedi master a real go with the force kinda guy. Getās shish kebabed in Phantom Menace by Darth Maul. Kinda responsible for ruining the galaxy because he found little orphan death machine-Anakin Skywalker. Played by Liam Nissan (fun fact he is so tall they had to spend thousands of dollars raising the sets to accommodate him.) Is also missing his true calling as a hair model.
Zevulon Veers-Real-The only character I spell checked the name on, his father, Maximillion Veers, was an Imperial officer during the battle of Hoth. (The other character people may have recognized the last name, but not the first.) He defected to the rebellion. (Family reunions must have been awkward)
Mace Windu-Real-Got killed by being thrown out a window (cause Star Wars.) One of the most powerful Jedi and the leader of the Jedi Order. Played by Samuel L. Jackson, and has a purple lightsaber, (Bad guys always have red, good guys, blue or green.) But are you going to say no to Sam Jackson? Legend has it that he has āMotherfuckerā inscribed on his saber hilt in Aurebesh (the Star Wars language.)
Now we get to as many guessed the fake name Tula Bonobo, a Bonobo is just a real animal that exists. I wasnāt trying to hide this fact. I shuffled through a few first names before landing on Tula. I think it sounds vaguely Star Warsy. And cāmon between Tula and Sleezebagano, which sounds more like the fake?
And now my confession: A wise squid-man once said āitās a trapā and this indeed was a dirty trickā¦
Gather around children while I tell you a story. So last year I took an anthropology class, did I have any interest in that subject, no, but I needed the credits. It was difficult, but I liked the professor. And admist the boring reports on pre-historic fossils, I hit gold. I feel itās high time the internet was re-introduced to this documentary of Liam Niesan narrating about ape sex. The meme potential is limitless. Have fun and use responsibly internet. Youāre welcome.

The dark abyss that is Andor
There were several things that led to Andor.
On the one hand, Disney screwed up its Star Wars intellectual property by handing it to complete hacks for Episode VII to IX, leading a potential cash cow to attract less and less viewers over the course of three increasingly bad installments. Seriously, The Last Jedi is one of the worst disappointments I've actually watched, and not only was I thinking "This can't get worse..." every five minutes only to be proven, "Yes, it can!!", it completely killed my appetite to see IX (and I would have left the cinema at that one's sheer stupidity). With VII, I saw it once with some initial excitement in a cinema when it released and a strange feeling afterwards, and I never revisited it. VIII I saw on two separate long-distance flights because I couldn't stomach the thing in one sitting. IX I didn't see at all, but devoured YouTube videos ripping it apart. Clearly, Disney had a Star Wars problem.
The other thing is the reboot that was The Mandalorian, especially season 1. The Mandalorian had a penchant for not very strong logic in its writing that you still accepted because you had so much damn fun and loved the characters. Given the fact that it clearly pulled lots of viewers into Disney+ that were loving its vibe that was true to the core of Star Wars, Disney management saw the fact that theaters and theme parks were closed due to COVID on the one hand and that big Star Wars movies were at risk of actually losing money on the other hand, and they did what executives are wont to do - they decided that if it worked once, it will work again and declared they will pump out TEN Star Wars series in the near future.
Meanwhile they cancelled also their ongoing series of "A Star Wars Story" movies that started with what could be called "Episode III.5" - Rogue One. Rogue One was plagued with production problems, so much so that seeming key scenes from the trailer weren't in the movie. "I rebel!", anyone?? Still, it turned out to be something new - a new kind of Star Wars story. It took the idea of a war movie (or its modern equivalent, Band of Brothers) and put it into the Star Wars cinematic universe. It did without an actual Jedi (kinda-sorta) and it showed a strong performance of Diego Luna as the morally gray Cassian Andor. And... (spoiler alert) ... it killed its whole cast in its finale.
I know people that say Rogue One is their favorite Star Wars movie. (But other people dislike it.) I hold it in high esteem. The way the resistance is portrayed also seemed to be somewhat subversive - both to its previous image on screen and to what is portrayable on screen for mainstream audiences in general. It became clear that unlike in the original three Star Wars movies resisting an empire is, on the ground, a dirty business and not just about big battles or commando raids. (Which then happen anyway. Because Star Wars.)
Then followed the lackluster Solo and the third installment Yoda was never made as Star Wars increasingly lost its ability to draw crowds into seats.
And thus it came to Andor
Now what do you do with a character that (spoiler alert? really?) dies. You make a bloody prequel. Which is funny. Andor is a prequel to Rogue One which is a prequel to A New Hope. Prequels, like sequels, carry the risk of rehashing the original material without adding anything to it (Solo ...) and being trapped by the inevitability of what has to happen next, curtailing its writing (Kenobi ...). But Andor season 1 betrays none of that. (Talk about being addicted to prequels, Disney...) It is a strong piece of cinematic art in its own right.
And yes, I'm saying art. About a Star Wars series. That's how I feel about it. Andor not only has strong execution, it has depth. It was a show that made me pause it and think about what just happened on screen. It's a show that gets deeper if you know about history, unlike most shows that actually reveal their shallowness to the knowing eye. (Looking at you, The Man in the High Castle. Boy, I hated that tripe.)
But even before we get into that, let me say how I impressed I was with its set and costume design. Whereas the Book of Boba Fett gave us cyberpunks on floating scooters, Andor poured a lot of heart into how everybody looked in their various environments, creating a more rich and varied Star Wars society by portraying various strata thereof, from the life of imperial senator Mon Mothma to the middle class living literally in her shade somewhere on the middle levels of planet-city Coruscant to the mining town labor class that we find Cassian in. It flawlessly cuts between different well-thought out locations, including, of all things, a holiday resort.
This is paired with some very strong performances by similarly strong actors. I mean, we all knew Stellan Skarsgard would deliver, sure. But Denise Gough absolutely kills it, acting-wise. Her delivery as a villain is perfect, the way she manages to always look so sour and annoyed already is quite something, how she normalizes evil into a technocrat career. Every flinch of her face conveys books of information to me as the fascinated viewer. She is at the heart of this series, and worth the price of admission alone.
And let's not forget Andy Serkis' heart-rending performance. Really, we're being spoiled. People are seriously acting, not just standing in front of a camera wearing costumes! In Star Wars!!
And yet, if it was only that, it still wouldn't have impacted me as deeply as it had. There's one more layer to this, and it's the massive bottom of the iceberg that is Andor. I haven't forgotten, even though I'm writing this a year after watching it.
(And definitely spoilers from here on onwards.)
Life under fascism
The second half of season 1 however can put deep horror into any thinking person's mind. It radically departs from previous portrayals of the evil Empire. It's not relying on cheap gimmicks like Episode VII where we see a village razed by the First Order. (So evil. So cliche, too. Also murdering Max von Sydow. Tsk, tsk. They had to get him off stage before any good acting happens...) Andor creeps under our skin and then reaps havoc.
(This part of this entry will become increasingly dark. You might not want to read on. Because fiction is one thing, and comparing it to historical reality is another. This is an actual trigger warning. Proceed with care.)
The first half of the season is standard fare, almost. Cassian gets himself in trouble and there is really no redeeming quality about it. He also gets everybody else into trouble. The Empire in its heavy-handed hurry to eradicate resistance actually creates it in the first place. And still... the lack of compunction about torture, about going victim by victim, vanishing people into its torture cells, breaking them... this is merely an overture. No hero is born here, but evil wears its mask imperfectly.
Cassian escapes his small world to eventually live the good life on a resort world, getting laid, pretending to be someone else. Instead of being caught as the fugitive and murderer and partisan he actually is by now, he simply gets caught up in the arrest of somebody else. The way the Empire "perpetrates justice" not only gets him arrested while having done no wrong (in that cover identity), he also gets sentenced by a court that doesn't even pretend to actually care about due process in any way. There's a machine of oppression, and instead of competently catching him, Cassian becomes caught up randomly in one of its many gears.
And while this may seem random, it's brilliant. It's one of the many reasons why resistance exists. Because the Empire's overreach is everywhere, grinding up people just living their lives while trying to perfect its control. The corruption of the desire for power leaks through in its banality.
What follows is Cassian's imprisonment, and this segment is brutal and horrifying on a deep level. The more you know, the worse it gets. Cassian is transported to a prison facility where he's forced into repetitive labor to make equipment for the Empire. There's a set of steps every labor team has to execute, and the team with the lowest quota gets punished with electric shocks. Day after day.
This is "Vernichtung durch Arbeit." ("Destruction through labor.") This is what the Nazis did to their political opponents. Before there was a Holocaust, there were concentration camps. And prisoners were made to work - the cynic motto across the gate of Auschwitz was "Arbeit macht frei." ("Labor sets you free.") People would gradually be ground down until they gave out in one way or another, fell sick, die of exhaustion, broke psychologically. The series never tells us its "inspiration," it just goes through similar motions. With the veneer of a super-clean techno prison over it.
Not only that, the very scene reminded me of what I read in a book about the Holocaust. Towards the end of the war the engines for the new secret weapon jet planes or rockets were manufactured by prison labor. Crews of malnourished prisoners would each execute a few pretrained steps and crank out more jet engines in slave labor than was previously done in the Reich's armament factories. This was the culmination of the Nazi system where all labor-intensive things like the bunkers of the Atlantic Wall or the underground factories of Dora-Mittelbau were erected by and on the back of slaves that were themselves gradually killed in the process.
Without ever breathing a word of what is portraying, Andor portrays the same. Skillfully, horribly so.
The devil is in the details
Some way into this horror, everybody gets their sentence doubled. The counter simply goes up. No explanation. Total helplessness in the face of total control. The deep gut feeling of "No one gets out here alive" or "It will never end" begins to descend. That number was a sort of life line for people to brave another day. And it lies!
As unbelievable as it may seem, people did get released from concentration camps, especially those on "lighter charges" like "antisocial behavior." But nobody really knew how long they had to stay or if they were to be released. Often, initially told they had to do 3 to 6 months depending on their conduct, and yet most people never left alive. A quick read in a book behind me says that 8 million people were sucked into the system, 7 million died, 200,000 left by being released by the system itself. The idea you might be released one day added false hope that in itself could create further psychological torture if it was dashed over and over again.
Then there is the "divide and conquer" approach to prisoner management. Work crews are led by other prisoners, rebellion and resistance is quelled within the ranks. This Andor merely hints at, but the Nazi oppression system skillfully created hierarchies to make sure a comparatively small detachment of guards could handle a large mass of inmates which could overwhelm them if acting together.
But it doesn't stop here, not in Andor, either. Eventually we learn that the Empire starts to eliminate the prison population. Rumors start to spread that an entire floor of the super prison was eliminated by electrocution. Just like the real Nazis the space Nazis start to construct yet another death machine to eliminate opposition.
And this leads to that sub-plots final chapter, the prison revolt. There are a few historical mass escapes, even from Nazi death camps. There's also the heroism of the two uprisings of Warsaw (including the ghetto uprising). Left with nothing to lose, left with nothing but death ahead, the prisoners overwhelm the guards.
And this happened in real life, too. It's probably based on the historical case of the death camp inmates that were forced to run the gas chambers and crematoria themselves. This is part of the Holocaust itself, the Nazis had finally dropped all pretenses and resorting to kill people in an industrial manner. And these people knew that eventually their whole detachment would be killed. They knew too much, were witnesses to this massive crime against them and humanity itself. They were also among those destined for death. Like in an antechamber of hell itself they were merely bidding time. So they managed one of the few mass escapes on record.
While Andor doesn't stray as far down the road as actual history does, it knows how to cite history for those who know. It's not made up of whole cloth. It actually is referencing the real history of the most inhumane version of fascism, but it does not put the fact in your face. But if you know, its chamber of horrors becomes so much deeper.
And that's why
This is what makes Andor an absolute masterpiece. It recreates the conditions without blindly copying the source. It adapts, but you can feel how deeply inhumane the circumstances are that it depicts. It gives you the bloody creeps, and even if you don't know how much it is rooted in darkness, you will still feel it. It shows. It tells. But it never spoils the source material.
This is art. This is the deep craft. The banality of evil, the careless, uncaring attitude of evil towards those it deems unworthy and not human. It's all on display. It switches us into the place of Cassian and of Andy Serkis' character as it draws us in as audience. We don't see what happens on other floors. We don't have the information advantage. We can only imagine. We are subjected to the fact that we can only imagine it. And so we share a bit in the plight of these characters. Sometimes not showing a thing is the highest accomplishment of movie making.
And this is why I'm pissed that a series that was planned for five seasons was already cut to play out in two. Because we need more of this and less of more Jedi doing backflips. Just like Loki plays on a completely different level than the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Andor leaves all of Star Wars in its dust. If Rogue One was the attempt to tell a different kind of story in the same universe, Andor is the attempt at a different level of depth.
And this, more than Rogue One, makes it clear why they fight.
Watch it if you can.
And sorry if I horrified you.

Fic rec time! Star Wars: Obi Wan x Jaster Mereel
'The Temporary Temple Guards': 60+k, by RoosjeM on Ao3, not rated, prequel trilogy
Summary: It was a widely known fact within the Temple, that the Temple Guards stationed at the Coruscant Temple were experiencing a āshortageā at the moment. Seeing as Knights were sent out to complete missions and went on protective details, they were also the Corp that was responsible for the Temple Guards.
āI may have an issue.ā
āWhat is it?ā
āI have a youngling in front of me. There is no one else around and I am pretty sure heās Mandalorian, and he's lost.ā
Or: itās Knight Obi-Wan Kenobiās turn to be a Temporary Temple Guard and of course one of his past missions comes back to haunt him.
It's quite canon-divergent from even before the fic timeline starts, the author sums it up quite well in a note on chapter 2:
"Korda VI happened differently, Galidraan didn't happen but Mandalorians and Jedi have not been in contact so all they really know about each other is galaxy wide rumours and their troubled history [...].
I moved Obi-Wan's timeline up. [...] the Missions to Mandalore [was] his last missions as a Padawan in this fic (meaning he's early twenties when he is there). The Naboo mission is not a thing.
Jaster [...] writes the Supercommando Codex earlier. His Haat'ade were only starting to gain allies which eventually led to the Clan Wars.
Jango is younger as well because I think baby-Jango is top tier comedy."
This fic is so good, I'm trying to follow it along despite my usual modus operandi with wips being either a) ignore it till it's finished or abandoned or b) read what's written then forget about it forever, because i just don't have a good enough memory to know what fic it is whenever sth updates...
I just re-read the first ten chapters (because, again, no memory) and summarized them all so in the future once the fic updates, or if I don't read the next chapters in one go, I can just read my summary instead to remember where I'm at - when I wanted to continue my summary on my bookmark for c11-16, I ran out of character space! So I'm continuing it here on tumblr instead :)
Feel free to save this post if you are also following the fic along as it's written and have the same memory problems as I have :) if you aren't up to date with the latest chapters yet, beware the spoilers below the cut!

C1
Obi & Quinlan are temporary assigned as guards bc of a staff shortage
A Mandalorian kid is lost, sees a man in armor & asks for help, not caring that it's a Jedi, not a Mandalorian! Obi brings him to little keldabe as taking him to the temple could cause an international incident, breaking pretty much all Guard rules apart from the vow of silence which he keeps the entire time.
In Little Keldabe he is threatened with weapons but not harmed because the kid is in the way. Once the kid's Buir shows up (Jaster, though he doesn't recognize him), Obi escapes through the sewers.
C2
Flashback: obi's mission on mandalore! Satine and the new mandalorians are a bother, Obi-Wan doesn't like their fake-pacifist weak ways, he wants to join with the Haat'ade for his and Satine's protection. They go by Ben and Tina for anonymity.
Present day: Jaster POV: on Coruscant for peace talks the Senate asked for, he hates the planet. When guards lose Jango he's even more pissed and ofc worried.
"You saved the squad that just so ended up being the current Mandāalorās squad.ā Quinlan remembers about Obi-Wan's time on Mandalore.
There's video footage of Obi bringing Jango to little Keldabe, so the mandos see (and Jaster thinks Obi seems familiar), and the Jedi find out- obe's not worried about the council because 'Yoda felt guilty for all the kark Obi-Wan had to go through under Qui-Gon Jinnās care since he was the one that pushed them together.'
Turns out the council isn't too pissed anyway because his stunt improved the image of Temple Guards quite a lot. He's still asked not to repeat it.
C3
Jaster's mandos observe the temple looking for obi-wan. Jango also wants to find 'his Aran'.
Obi-stays temporary guard with Feemor, and they have lineage tea with Dooku, who's quite nice if you get to know him better.
The Temple Guards bring the lurking mandos datapads: subtly and threateningly telling them to piss off.
Flashback: obi on Mandalore with his late adopted dad Bardan Jusik of House Skirata (Kal's uncle btw), learning about armor.
C4
Overtired obi in Guard armor (& hidden Mando vambraces) after his shift stumbles across visiting Jaster, they fight and Jaster takes off his helmet to reveal - they knew each other, friends when Obi was on mandayaim
More flashbacks of the haat'ade, mentions that Qui-Gon left obi behind and did a shit job at mentoring in general, and more flashback to how Obi became Ben be aliit Jusik of House Skirata: Bardan offered to adopt him, asked him to consider becoming haat'ade. The Goran had figured out he was jettii and offered armor anyway. He also became close to alor Jaster, into the inner circle of the Haat'ade.
C7
Flashback: Jaster x Obi get together ā”
When death watch attacks, Obi-wan fought back with his lightsaber. Bardan's death by darksaber was blamed on him by the Skiratas and he named Dar'manda. Obi took Satine and left without telling Jaster goodbye. To
Present day: Jaster tells him he should have come to him to clear it all up, that he would have protected him, that he loves Obi-Wan/Ben and doesn't think their time was a lie, that he wants to get to know Obi-Wan properly now.
C8
Jaster tells Obi that his buir Barden lived! The Skiratas have been looking for him all this time.
The mandos are offered lodgings in the temple (bc Jaster and Obi are taking so long in Obi's rooms xD) they recognize Feemor as the threat/message bringer bc he 'moves the same'. Feemor is freaked out by this.
Barden POV: he is impatient, not having heard from the mandalorians on Coruscant since they went to the temple. He and Alor Skirata are also looking for Ben, going to MelidaDaan.
Jaster finds the dha'ka'dau in Obi's room, who didn't know what it was, just that the kyber wanted to rest.
Mandos incl Jaster&Obi are invited for breakfast, the mandos realize the Jedi are all just one big family.
Council meeting: it's revealed by Jaster that Obi is still considered adopted mandalorian, even if Barden had really died. It's decided he should go to Mandalore as a potential watchbeing and to give him the opportunity to meet with the Skiratas.
C9
The darksaber decides to come along to Mandalore, bullying Obi-Wan into it (sentient sword!!)
Obi-Wan won't hide his Jedi heritage this time. He's being a bit petty about it, refusing to wear any armor apart from the kom'rk(vambraces).
En route, Jaster and Obi meditate together. Jaster is just slightly force sensitive.
C10
Bardan learns about the former Young on Melidaan but doesn't figure out that 'Obi-Wan' is his kid. The Young regret that Obi-Wan left and they don't know what happened to him.
Arriving on Mandalore, Obi-Wan is greeted with weapons aimed at him when Jango asks to be picked up. Jaster reprimands the mandos and has Obi with Jango walk next to him despite him not having a rank
C11
Walon Vau, a friend of Bardon and so Obi's uncle, comes to collect him for first meal. He is asked to sit with him, Jaster and the other alore. Jaster says that despite first meal not being socially important for mandalorians, he wants to spend it with his cyare Obi-Wan because it is important for Jedi.
Obi-Wan goes to the Forge with the Goran, who asks why he isn't wearing his armor, and Obi-Wan finally admits he struggles with the dual identity of Jedi and Mandalorian. He meets Mand'alor Tarre Vizla in a vision who thanks him for taking care of the dha'kad and asks him to unite Mandalorians and Jedi. Obi-Wan's armor is to be reforged.
Bardan and Obi-Wan have a tearful reunion.
C12
Obi-Wan tells his buir everything and asks for advice about what to do after the three months posting in Mandalore is up.
Erri Skirata feels guilty for being the reason Ben/Obi-Wan ran away. Obi-Wan and Erri have an official clan dispute talk with the Goran and Jaster, and Obi-Wan forgives her for what happened, saying given the circumstances, he understands why she thought he killed Barden. He just wants to move past it.
Jaster with Kal's help starts an investigation in the Jedi's ties to the Senate and the Ruusan reformation.
C13
Obi heals a plant, thought on Mandalore to be the last of its kind, and recognizes it from a Jedi garden.
The Young are visiting and Obi-Wan has another tearful reunion! Nield apologizes for blaming Obi for Cerasi's death. Barden realizes Obi-Wan the General of the Young is Ben, his son, and breaks down crying.

Rise of the Red Blade thoughts
One of the things Iāve long been asking for is for canon to do something to address the Inquisitors. We partially got that with Kenobi, but Reva is more of a special case. But with Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade we do finally have something that does, so it behooves me to add my thoughts. We do get a lot of interesting bits from this book - including, at last!, some canon Seventh Sister backstory!
(Minor spoilers ahead - though if youāve read the Darth Vader comics you know how this story ends)
First of all, on a story level, itās entertaining and I think does a good character dive on why Jedi fell and became Inquisitors. Ishkat Akaris is the POV character and she provides an interesting angle on struggles with the Jedi Order. Sheās neurodivergent, and while not specified Iām picking up ADHD. She struggles and never quite gets the support she needs. But she is an unreliable narrator, and there is a particular Roshomon incident from when she was young that we return to again and again, getting some different perspectives. Though the narrative (in true Roshomon fashion) never says which was the ātrueā version so youāre just left with the various ācertain points of viewā. But as a look at someoneās personal journey to the Dark Side, where at of the steps seem plausible and fair from their perspective, it works really well.
But what the book is great for is showing, better than other canon material Iāve come across, what the war does to the Jedi. Communications are poor. Information is sketchy. And young, inexperienced and over promoted Jedi are being sent out as commanders into highly stressful situations. And it really shows how the sheer stress of the war, and how this starts corrupting the more inexperienced Jedi, as the pressure to achieve results in impossible circumstances starts leading them toward āquicker and easierā answers, with even the brighter and more devoted Jedi starting to fray by the wars end.
It maybe doesnāt deep dive as much as I would like; and the timeline is a bit wonky in places (according to this the Jedi had the clone army before they went into the arena on Geonosis which ??), but as far as canon goes I think itās one of the best explorations on offer.
Thereās some other tidbits as well:
Confirmation that if you donāt connect with the Force regularly you will lose sensitivity to it and have to ārelearnā as per Kenobi.
We get a bit more in how the Inquisitorious works. Basically a perverse form of the Jedi Order. There are candidate Inquisitors, and when you āproveā yourself worthy you get a Name (eg X Sister). Which was hinted at in Kenobi (the use of āRevaā over Third Sister to emphasise her outsider status)
That said, numbering system still doesnāt make sense to me. I think the implication is supposed to be the number is the order in which a candidate āprovedā themselves, but I find it hard to believe that Trilla was the first one to do so. Particularly not as it says Fifth Brother joined willingly and Tenth Brother was already half-way there at the start of the war.
The Agricorps are back baby!
And some canon Seventh Sister backstory! To which:
Sheās a little older than Ishkat, whose about 19/20 when the Clone War kicks off. So my rough guess would be that sheās about 25ish when Order 66 happens. So Seventh is definitely a Jedi Knight - which does tie with her line of dialogue to Ezra mocking Kanan for not achieving the rank.
She was Aayla Securaās Padawan (asterisk on this one - the exact line is ātrained byā which is a little vaguer, but Padawan reads to me as the intent.) This would constitute a lore revision that Mirialans are only Padawanās to Mirialans.
Something absolutely horrific happened to her to make her an Inquisitor. Which you might think āof course it didā; but Ishkat meets Second Sister and hangs out with Ninth Sister and specifically mentions sensing something appalling happening to Seventh. So yeah, weāre talking orders of magnitude bad in comparison.
(For those wondering who read A New Dawn Breaks: none of this will affect Sorfelia; I already had something terrible plannedĀ š)
So overall, Iād say itās worth a read. And if youāve read the comics thereās some fun Easter eggs here and there as well!

*Ahsoka show and Star Wars SPOILERS*
I hope I'm not the only one who's incredibly disappointed with how the Ahsoka show went. But, I was. So much so, that I think The Book of Boba Fett, and the Obi-Wan Kenobi show were better than this show.
Ahsoka should've been mad at Sabine for not destroying the map. She should've been mad at her for going with the enemy and giving Thrawn the means to get back. Hell, Ezra should've been told about how Sabine got there sooner and should've been AT LEAST disappointed in her. But, they don't. The show keeps justifying Sabine's actions for some reason, when we damn well know she made bad ones.
And, the latest episode tries to make it a good thing that Ezra made it back home, but the thing is Thrawn is also back and he's gonna wage war against the New Republic. Innocents are gonna die. But, hey! The plus side is the guys she cares for made it back home and the only consequence she gets is being stranded on that planet. All this to set up either another season or another show or another movie.
So, totally worth it.....god, I hate Sabine in this show. I feel so sorry for some of the Rebels fans I've talked to that don't like how their beloved characters are being ruined in this show.
Also, Baylan and Shin were said to be really good characters, but we know very little about them and their goals.

Spoilers For Star Wars: Dark Disciple book.
After doing a quick research on Star Wars: Dark Disciple by Christine Golden, I understand why some may not be pleased to see Ventress return in the Bad batch S3 trailer.
In the book, before Order 66, follows the adventures of Quenlin Vos and Asajj Ventress to assassinate Dooku. Over time, the two fall for each other (cute!š„°). Long story short, Ventress get hevely injured by Dooku and dise in Vos's arms and she is buried š„ŗ. It's an amazing storyline from snippets I read.
This book came out in the year 2015. (I wasn't in Star Wars at that time). This book is connon to the Star Wars timline.
To be honest, I never read the book so I was really surprised to see Ventress shows up, since the last time I saw her was in the Clone Wars. I always thought she disappeared in the background and never showed up again. So imagine my surprise.
From the looks of it, seeing Ventress alive at this point in time, completely made the book non-canon. And trust me, I know how it feels to read or watch something only for the content to be non-canon (Agents of Shield, anyone?)
We'll just have to wait what's going to happen when Ventress show up and possibly Vos. Vos is one of the few Jedi that survived Order 66 and is later mentioned in Obi-Wan Kenobi to help Jedis escape.
I definitely need to give this a book a read when I have a chance, it sounds really good.

Ahsoka Episode 5 Spoilers Below!
*
*
*
Okay, Iām going to do something I never do, and I donāt think ever have done ā Iām going to do the ātakeā thing ā put my opinion online. I donāt like to do this, because I feel like there is ALWAYS someone opposed, and I just donāt want any bad energy revolving around my beloved escape from reality.
For the last twenty-two hours, I have been profusely hitting the ā¤ļøĀs on other posts, jumping up and down and hugging people, and basically just doing the equivalent of shouting, āANAKIN!!!ā but Iāve yet to really try to discuss Episode 5, because, quite frankly, itās just been too freaking emotional for me! I have all these feelings that I donāt know how to sort out, and I've honestly felt like I could burst into tears at any given moment, all day long. I went through this with the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and I remember I felt literally insane for a WHILE. Perhaps, I shouldāve written something like this back then ā writing is my outlet, after all.
So, here we go. . . I donāt have many followers, and I know many people wonāt read this, but I just need to get it out!
A couple of weeks ago, my dear friend, Wibz asked me, āWhat kind of story do you like? What kind of fic do you like to read?ā I replied sappy, mushy, hurt/comfort, of course. I told her I like dialogue ā dealing with emotional ups and downs - HEALING. I told her I liked fix-its and time travel, and I specifically said I like seeing into āwhat couldāve beenā scenarios, and I mentioned by name the movie, āItās A Wonderful Life.ā And the thing I really love about that movie is the ability to visit the past. I like stories that take us back ā and not just as a flashback, but a present character being able to look at their past and reflect. You probably know where this is going by now, but the way we finally got our long-awaited Clone Wars āflashbackā couldnāt have been more perfect in my opinion.
And the thing that has made me the most emotional through all of this was simply seeing that first battle in live action. I will admit, upon viewing the first two episodes of Ahsoka, I felt the show mightāve been better presented in Rebels animation. Well, I can now, happily admit I was wrong.
We saw the brutal beginnings of the Clone Wars at the Battle of Geonosis in Attack of the Clones, and we see the heart-breaking conclusion and the end of the war in Revenge of the Sith. My personal opinion is that we have been very fortunate to get a great show about the time in between, however; being short, animated (directed at a younger audience) episodes, there are emotional aspects that are rushed through and not fully explored. If youāve read my insanely long fix-it fic, then you know that it carries through these Clone Wars episodes that I love so very much, BUT in writing it my own way, I was able to put in all the drama I wanted to see ā the breakdowns, the tears, a deeper look into the trauma of fighting in a war. And yes, there have been some amazing Star Wars novels that do this, but again, seeing it in live action. . . seeing just how young Ahsoka really was, seeing her mourn the injured and deceased clones. Having her and Anakin address the fragility of life and getting to hear that conversation about it. . . Now the viewing audience has a grasp on just how bleak this time period was. I didnāt know how bad I needed to see this ā a human turned Togruta actor conveying those destroyed expressions and defeated body language. The impact was more than I expected, and it wouldnāt have been the same in animation.
The other super tear-jerky part for me was the theme of āLive or Dieā āFight or Dieā . . .I canāt let myself get into too much detail about this, but if you know me, and you know my story, then you know. Great. Iām crying again š¤·š»āāļø This was just such a powerful message for ANYONE struggling in any aspect of their life, and it sincerely helped me to rise another day, and will be a continued reminder, probably for a while.
You all know how much I love Anakin (and Obi-Wan), and so much of the hype is revolved around his character right now, but this personal journey we find Ahsoka on is truly beautiful to me. I was honestly uneasy about the way Ahsoka was portrayed, thus far, in our other series. She didnāt feel like Ahsoka to me. I accepted and understood that her character had been through much in her short life, and that much time had passed since we last saw her and she would've evolved, but overall, I honestly (š¬) didnāt much enjoy what we got of her in live action. I kept my expectations for this show at the minimum. I try not to predict what might happen in canon Star Wars, because I never want to set myself up for disappointment. I strive to go in with an open mind and a clear head and just enjoy the show. But Iāll admit, I was hopeful for Ahsokaās character development in this. . . and so far, I find myself satisfied. It has now been acknowledged how severely Anakinās turn impacted her ā that was a necessity in my opinion, because of course it did. And itās still unfathomable to me, but I feel like we got to witness her getting her closure with Anakin š At the end of episode 5, I was finally getting the Ahsoka vibes I was longing for. And letās not ignore just how āAhsokaā she was in the past scenes with Anakin! I was in awe of how her different animated fighting stances over the years translated into live action. It was her! And this is probably a great time to also mention: that was Anakin, too! In the beginning, we saw him on that World Between Worlds walkway training Ahsoka ā the orchestrated footwork, the lack of aggression . . . It felt like the Anakin we see in the lightsaber kata training video Ahsoka watches in Rebels! We have not seen this in live action! We have not seen Anakin as a Master to an apprentice! š„¹ And again, I didnāt know how bad I needed that. Later, when we are taken back onto that WBW walkway, we see him fighting like weāve seen in Revenge of the Sith. Itās Vader! And heās so pissed and intends to kill! I wonāt spend too much time gushing the way most already have ā the Sith eyes, the flawless ROTS attire we already loved given back to us, and the Clone Wars look brought to life. . . the hair š Just seeing him, Hayden Anakin, fight in a Clone Wars battle in live action! So strong and mighty šŖš» with such determination and sensitivity. . . with just the right amount of cockiness š Heās perfection. And I think this is noncontroversial opinion everyone would agree with lol. Ā
And maybe you do or donāt agree with this part, but I feel Anakinās appearance was šÆ open to interpretation, and I think thatās GREAT. This character means so much to so many people, and there is never a way to satisfy everyone when it comes to storytelling. Everyone had/has different opinions of how this shouldāve been handled. Was Anakin a Force ghost? Was the entire encounter all in Ahsokaās head? Was Anakin something else entirely? Was he Vader? Maybe you have an answer to this question and you are certain in your theory ā thatās awesome. I think thatās the way it should be. We get to āmake things the way we want them to beā WITH CANON! šš» I am not yet certain of what my own theory is. Iāve watched it four times, and I am still processing it all. One thing for sure, Iām glad the WBW was involved. Again, if you know of my preferred way to āfix-itā then you know what that means to me š„°
I think Iām done š«£ I just needed to release these feelings! And I feel we are so blessed. I still canāt believe this really happened. And I am so thankful to get to share in the joy with all of you š Okay! I think Iām ready to talk now if yāall want to talk! š¤

Who should play Omni-Man in a live action Invincible?
Whether you are an avid watcher of Invincible or not, at this point you probably know the character of Omni-Man through the zeitgeist, merchandise, or memes.
Since JK Simmons interpretation of the character, Omni-Man has sky rocketed into popularity. The incredible villain was a major part of Invincible's success, giving us a very violent, angry and conflicted performance from Simmons.
Given there will be a live action film, currently in the works from Allen the Alien actor Seth Rogen, I thought I'd throw some names in the mix who I think could be potentially great Omni-Men.
Warning: This will contain spoilers from Seasons 1 & 2 of Invincible so be warned!
Who can't be Omni-Man?
Before we get started into who could, I am gonna limit myself a bit. Let's start with the obvious, JK Simmons is too old. He's fantastic, and I love his version, but he can't be Nolan. Might I suggest Conquest, Art, or best of all, Cecil?
I also have no intention of picking actors who have played Superman. So Henry Cavill, Brandon Routh, etc, no dice.
Also in general, I'm gonna try to avoid actors who already have an iconic performance as a superhero character. So actors like Hugh Jackman, Ben Affleck and others won't be on this list either.
And finally, I've seen the fancasts of both Jon Hamm and Nick Offerman. Frankly I like both. But I think we can do better.
What are Nolan Grayson's Physical Characteristics?
Omni-Man needs to feel like the most dangerous man in the room AND the world's greatest hero. It's a very delicate balance to pull.
I'd prefer someone over 6 ft tall, with a background in both heroic and menacing roles.
Nolan is a viltrumite, meaning he could be any race or ethnicity.
If he can rock a mustache, even better.
I'm looking for an actor in their late 30s to early 50s. We have a little room to work with as his age is slower, but someone in their 40s is most preferable.
Let's get into it.
3. Colin Farrell
Starting off our list is the original Bullseye himself Colin Farrell. Though he is a little bit shorter than I would like at 5'10, Farrell brings experience, skill and likeability to Nolan, which is very necessary if we want to portray him as a good guy.
What really sold me on him is actually Saving Mr Banks, where he plays a sympathetic, problematic father who truly loves his children. That sympathy can go a long way for Omni-Man.
Where he doesn't sell me is the ruthlessness of Nolan, nor does he feel like he can be a very threatening villain. He did play a fun one, namely the Penguin in The Batman.
Really my main concern is The Penguin, as he is returning for his show and likely The Batman Part II. I'd prefer someone not as known for wearing the costume of such an iconic character.
2. Joel Edgerton
I feel like everyone forgets about good ol reliable Joel Edgerton.
If we want a villain with brutality, Edgerton can bring it. He can rock a mustache, he's played multiple convincing villains and could really make the role his own. He's held his own against power houses like DiCaprio and Maguire in Gatsby.
He's even played a few good guys, namely Uncle Owen in Obi-Won Kenobi.
The great thing about Edgerton is he falls so deep in the role, people forget it's him. It may be good to have an actor smaller than the role he's playing, but with a skill to match Simmons.
My main concern is very simple, he's 5'10". I'm sure we can make him seem bigger, but other than, he seems evil, untrustworthy. He often plays characters who are darker or troubled. Can he play 100% heroic? Or atleast faking heroic?
I think he'd do a fantastic job, but there's one more guy I'm itching to see put on the red and white.
1. Joel Kinnaman
Takeshi Kovacs. Rick Flag. Alex Murphy.
Joel Kinnaman is one of my favorite actors working today.
I think Kinnaman has both the intensity and heroic nature to be a perfect Nolan. At 44, he is in the perfect age range we want. He is 6'2", and while I admit he is leaner than I would like, bulking up to play Nolan I think is very possible.
He's got a great voice, can rock a mustache, play a convincing father, and has never truly donned a cape. He'd make a fantastic villain in a movie, and an even better hero once he joins the Coalition of Planets.
I think he'd add a different enough performance while being able to stand up to a great actor like Simmons. Joel Kinnaman is my ideal Omni-Man.
Thank you so much for reading! Please consider following, and check out my socials and other sites here! And let me know: Who do you want to see play Omni-Man in a live action Invincible?

More Bad Batch thoughts comin at ya, which means more spoilers! Stop reading this if you haven't seen the finale!!! I'm talking to you!!!
Okay, thought number one: FUCK YOU RAMPART YOU LITTLE SHIT BITCH
Okay cool thought number two: What the fuck happened to Cody???????? My mans "defected" in Season 2 Episode 3 and then never showed up again?????? Wasn't even mentioned?????? He just vanished into this air?????
Was that shit planned when he was supposed to be a major character in Kenobi before rewrites so they needed him away and alive? Did they just not have a good avenue to tell his story? Did they simultaneously not want to kill him but also not want him to overshadow the Batch?
I'm not even mad at the lack of Cody resolution, I'm just....befuddled? Like he's such a major character and an easy cameo and you just sort of....discard him? I'm not sure if we'll be getting more clone-based animation or what, but I'd really like some sort of hint as to what happened to him. I don't even need a resolution, just like a vague direction of what he got up to.
Thought number three: I want to see Emerie pop up in random Empire setting IPs because I love her, very glad she got her slice of redemption and set on the path of trying to make things right
Thought number four: ZILLOOOO BEEAAAAAASST IS BACK AT LARGE BABY love that big bastard
Thought number five: I was so skeptical of Bad Batch before S1 released. Felt like another spin-off we didn't really need. I was so very wrong. One of my favorite IPs now that all is said and done. They did something very special with this story, and I'm glad to have been wrong about it. Bad Batch for life.

I would very much like to hear about ur dark side cult and am willing to trade the information given with random songs but they're in binary
I spent years in the rave scene listening to beepy clicky music that you can't really dance to so I'd probably be into that, ngl.
So the thing about the Bando Gora is that you can't talk about it without discussing a couple of characters, so I'll try to keep this fairly high-level, but some spoilers may follow for a couple of the Legends books. (And since we're getting a new new canon Dark Side cult with Darth Maul: Red, White, and Black in May, maybe we'll see some similarities. Canon likes to nod back to Legends once in a while, and I'm all for it.)
The Bando Gora appears in only a handful of places, namely Darth Maul: Lockdown, Darth Plagueis, a couple of comics, an RPG, and a videogame called Star Wars Bounty Hunter featuring Jango Fett.
It served as a terrorist organization and dark side cult that operated primarily in the outer rim, gaining power over a couple of decades before culminating in the death of its last High Priestess, a former Jedi and the lost padawan of Count Dooku, Komari Vosa -- one part femme fatale, one part pain in Sidious' ass, and the very same Komari Vosa that shows up in Darth Maul: Lockdown on Cog Hive Seven.
She was captured and indoctrinated into the Bando Gora following the battle at Galidraan along with twenty of her cohorts (whom she later killed while in captivity), and rose through the ranks rapidly to helm it as its leader.
She died in 32 BBY when a bounty was set on her head because the cult had amassed entirely too much power and Sidious was getting a little shifty about it. Jango Fett won the bounty along with the prestige of becoming the pattern for the Clone army, but it was Vosa's former Jedi Master (now Darth Tyranus) that snapped her neck, ending her life, and decapitating the cult. Vosa was completely relegated to Legends as of The Secrets of the Sith, but as the story goes, once Dooku snuffed her out, he took her curved lightsaber hilts and gave them to his sparkly new apprentice, Asajj Ventress.
As indoctrination goes, cult members were subjected to neurotoxin poisoning and tortured to open their minds to the Dark Side of the Force, the physical results of those rituals manifesting in glowing blue eyes, and blackened and mottled skin. "The Force shall free me" was taken to the letter, because Bando Gora Thrall emerged from the indoctrination process free of pain, free of fear, and relentless -- and without a will of their own. Thrall often wore Nemoidean skin masks --- possibly another aspect of the depersonalization process -- and Captains looked like this snazzy dude:
The cult had ties to the Hutts and Sebolto's drug cartel on Malastare, a notable tidbit because one of its last remaining ties to canon exists in one little scene where Obi-Wan Kenobi is offered Death Sticks -- the primary means of luring in new recruits to the cult by altering their minds, and reducing their resistance to indoctrination by creating a narcotic dependency with the "Death Sticks." As if calling them "Death Sticks" to begin with wasn't wildly enticing. /s
"You wanna buy some death sticks?""You don't want to sell me death sticks.""I don't wanna sell you death sticks.""You want to go home and rethink your life.""I wanna go home and rethink my life."
āElan Sel'Sabagano and Obi-Wan Kenobi
Other points of interest (if you're considering a vacation) involve the spot where the Bando Gora set up shop -- a lovely little place in the inner rim in Bogden's orbit: Kohlma.
Named after Colma (in California), the burial moon was covered pole to pole in tombstones and suffered Bogden's frequent gravitational shifts. A lot of the early concept art lends itself to horror (hi I love it!), which is probably why, at the first mention of a "burial moon" in Darth Maul: Lockdown, I went absolutely feral and started collecting every tidbit I could get my hands on.
The Bando Gora had a citadel out there, which ultimately became Vosa's tomb, and the memorial moon was a fitting choice because the first members of the cult were said to be graverobbers, thieves, and assassins. ššš
Thank you for the ask. Revisiting this stuff right before Camp NaNoWriMo is always a good refresher for me, since I'll be journeying right back here on April 1st. š

Minor spoilers for Dragon Ball Daima ahead!
The Portara Fusion thing in Daima is so funny because this is the exact issue that happens when you keep putting more and more expensive story in a smaller and smaller window of time. It's the Kenobi (2022) problem.
In Kenobi, they introduce a character whose goal is to kill Vader. Considering this show takes place between Star Wars Episode 3 and 4, and I've seen the original trilogy and know that Vader is very much alive and kicking during that time, I know they don't kill Vader. So why be invested in that character? Their big defining aspect is a goal I know won't get accomplished because I have working knowledge of Star Wars, so... what's the point?
Daima takes place between the end of the Buu saga and the beginning of Super, and Super takes place before the End of Z (the 10-year timeskip starting in chapter 517 of the manga). There's only so much space for meaningful stories to be added here! The re-retcon of Portara Fusion isn't that huge of a detail, it just makes things silly. If Kibito Kai just needed to get chewed up and spit out by Buu before Daima, why waste a wish on it during Super? Why un-fuse the characters just to re-fuse them again... to then un-fuse them again later? With the Super retcon of "mortals only Portara fuse for an hour", it really only serves to establish why they're being cowards and not making Vegito permanent. This retcon feels like mindlessly moving pieces on a board just to get them back on their starting foundation for the series that comes after this. Adds a bunch of funkiness to the narrative that feels more like busywork.
Again, it's a small detail and really not all that big of a deal considering how much other interesting world building stuff happens in that episode, but continuing to make stories in these smaller and smaller windows of time between the already defined end feels like an issue. Because, well... will any of this matter? Daima obviously doesn't really factor into Super that much, as Super starts with the foundation of Dragon Ball Z. Super doesn't really factor into End of Z that much, and actively contradicts the End of Z with how Super places it's events within Bulma's "we haven't seen each other in 5 years" window. So... what's the narrative point if we're just spinning our wheels to get to our predetermined destination? IMO, the interesting choice is to just commit to making changes to these characters and start carving out your own continuity. We already have multiple universes, why not keep going. At least that way changes and developments missing actually have some staying power.
To be clear, since I know I'm a bit of a hater, I'm still extremely excited to keep watching Daima! Opening a new Dragon Ball series with mostly world building, and super interesting world building at that, is so fucking cool. The fact that they're bringing in the weird variety of Dragon Balls (the in-universe objects) like the Super manga did is so cool, and adds a lot to the world. All the stuff about Demons, and implying that certain species in universes are based on Demon ancestry, is cool as hell. I just worry none of this stuff will matter to future stories and that the characters won't see any development. I'm not a stickler for canon, I just want these narrative choices to matter in the long run. As of right now, it doesn't feel like that's possible with Daima or Super as long as they keep sticking stories in this ever-shrinking period of time.

agree with you when it comes to misogyny in the fandom (and in general lol) and shipping etc and I wanted to dump this here because it's been bugging me and I have nobody to talk to about it irl that hasn't heard me muttering about it before but why do people seem so anti-romance in general? I see 'Star Wars doesn't need romance or a love story' all the time and I can't help but feel like it falls into the misogyny category a little because romance is seen as something inherently feminine or 'for the girls' ig so people think it's an unnecessary addition to a plot but it can actually affect a character and how they act/think etc so much whether that's for good or bad, hope that makes sense?
obviously not every character needs a great romantic love and Din-doesn't-need-or-want-love enjoyers do your thing but even in the first season he clearly considers Omera and seems open to the idea at least, so people being against Bo just doesn't make sense to me? has she done bad things? well yeah but what character hasn't in Star Wars? and even if it's not Bo I still see it thrown around that Star Wars doesn't need a love story but why? what's wrong with romantic love? there are other shows that they're making/have made that yeah shoehorning in a romance would've made no sense (i.e. Kenobi, I mean I've not watched it but I can't imagine a love story working in that) but the Mandalorian hasn't set itself up to be a show like that?
I hope this has made sense but I basically wanted to air that out and it just came to me reading your answers to other questions that it's probably at least a little misogyny that plays a part in that anti-romance feeling going around or that makes sense in my head anyway
(also Jyn and Cassian soulmates truther here so if people wanna beef about them pls consider not doing that or I'll cry, they're basically built to be perfect for each other so???)
i wanted to publish this before tonight's episode (i just woke up for work š).
i agree. it's always when there is some prospect of romance for these kinds of female characters that the "we don't need romance" brigade comes out. like, there's nothing inherently wrong with romance nor is there anything wrong with not wanting romance. it's preference. but c'mon it's not star wars even has a lot of it on screen for major characters. at least healthy relationships or ones that don't end in untimely death.
i can name the actual romances on one hand probably and further discussion is going under a read more out of sake for length and because some minor spoilers for clone wars and rebels.
padme amidala and anakin skywalker ends in tragedy, the eradication of the jedi order and the fall of the republic. anakin turns into darth vader.
hera syndulla and kanan jarrus again ends in tragedy. he sacrifices himself to save hera, sabine and ezra.
bail and breha oranga perish in the destruction of alderaan.
obi-wan kenobi and satine kryze never officially get together as she's dutchess of mandalore and he's a jedi knight. she's murdered by maul to spite him.
vel sartha and cinta kaz external circumstances and cinta's devotion to The Cause of the Rebellion put them on shaky ground.
han solo and leia organa are depicted as a kind of volatile relationship and we never actually really see them be a couple on screen besides some crumbs. by the sequels they are separated.
cassian andor and jyn erso dead before they could really have a relationship.
galen and lyra erso ends in lyra being murdered in front of galen.
owen and beru lars seem to be a relatively normal married couple but than they get brutally murdered by the empire so.
so where's the over abundance of romantic relationships in star wars?
i'd like one couple in star wars that doesn't end in a tragic demise or a "casualties: everyone in the local vicinity" type of scenario.
besides a "strong female character" doesn't have be devoid of romance.
allison argent still says it best "can't i be strong and go to prom?"
