Okay, a friend of mine said "obi-wan about Anakin" and it gave me several silly ideas so i'm gonna share them. Insert random headcanons about Anakin and his catch-it-eat-it diet below the line.
I'm just imagining Anakin opening cabinets, getting down on the floor and searching. Army crawling to look under tables and cabinets, pausing to sniff once in a while.
"Its around here somewhere... i just know it"
"Did you lose something?"
"No. There's an ant in here"
"Oh?... did you see it?"
"No. I can smell it. Its taunting me"
"You can.... smell the ant?" -there is a moment of silence "AHA!" "Oh. oh no. Anakin please don-- oh stars"
It's too late. Anakin has already put it in his mouth. This ties into coming from a planet where food is a little more scarce. He was raised where if you can catch it, you eat it. and obi-wan's reaction implies that he knew it was coming. which led me to headcanon number 2. This is not a new occurrence. You ever imagine the other jedi masters watching this mid-twenties fresh baby faced knight trying to wrestle a small reptile from the grubby hands of feral desert child? Because i have.
Anakin is upset because he caught it to eat it and obi is trying to convince him that there is plenty of food in the cafeteria, please do not eat that.
Perhaps, an 11 year Anakin running by with pudgy stuffed cheeks, obi-wan hot on his heels, shouting frantically "WHAT IS IN YOUR MOUTH?!"
Hearing from another room "SPIT THAT OUT THIS INSTANT! YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE THAT'S BEEN!" Followed by the sounds of a scuffle, which is certainly Knight Kenobi trying to wrestle Anakin's mouth open like an unruly dog with a wrapper, attempting to get it out of him mouth. then a sharp yelp "you BIT me?!" if it's small enough to fit in his mouth, it's going in. Bugs. Lizards. if he catches a small rodent he'll cook it first. but he'll eat it.
Headcanon number 3. Obi-wan is utterly devestated when he discovers that Ahsoka will also eat small critters.
Anakin spots a bug and stares at it, moving to stalk and it sets Ahsoka off. Next thing you know, her pupils have turned to slits and she's fallen into step, stalking alongside him. It doesn't matter who catches it first, Anakin gives it to Ahsoka because he's a good Master.
"here. i had one earlier. you can have this one"
"thanks master!"
Obi-wan is making an utterly despaired sound in the background.
"oh. i'm sorry master obi-wan. did you want that?"
"oh no, snips. obi-wan's a picky eater. he doesn't eat bugs"
"force have mercy. there's two of them"
Next headcanon. fuck naming them. there's too much going on here.
Obi-wan has no spice tolerance, which is a huge issue considering that he spent years hiding out on Tattooine where EVERYTHING is spicy, including the meats. This means that he has to find alternative means of getting his nutrients.
This ends up being a diet comprised of desert grasses, roots, mushrooms, legumes, and insects.
he's scooping out the insides of a giant millipede while staring into the distance, disassociating through dinner. He spends so many meals half to tears because "Anakin would've loved this" -- both the mean and watching Obi-wan suffer through eating bugs.
Next headconnon.
Anakin is a little shit.
that's not a new idea, you say. i know. that part is canon. hear me out though.
Freshly Knighted Anakin taunting Obi-wan with his own nuggets of wisdom
"a varied diet is paramount for a healthy body, master. it's important~" and he's holding up a grasshopper.
"no, thank you, anakin. there is plenty of nutritional value to the temple made meals. i'm quite alright."
"but master. i caught this just for you."
"that's very kind but i simply couldn't" Obi-wan is not very fond of bugs to begin with but he's less fond of them when Anakin decides he wants to chase him with them. "no! stop that!"
"c'mon master, eat it!"
"stop that, you menace!!! anakin no!"
obi-wan afterwards is bent over, hands on his knees after force running around the temple with Anakin chasing him. He's gasping for breath.
And then Anakin just approaches, still holding the bug and Obi-wan has clearly hit his limit of what he's willing to put up with and Anakin grins before popping it in his mouth.
"look at that, master. my force running has gotten better. i can keep up with you now~" 😇
"we-- *gasp* should've left you on Tattooine-- *wheeze* where we found you, you brat" *various dying sounds*
"but ya didn't~❤️"
Obi-wan is ready to kick his ass.
I doubt that it's the only time this has happened. Which brings me to my final points. The addition of Yoda to this horrible shit show.
Anakin's bug buddies, Ahsoka, and Yoda.
We have Anakin chasing Obi-wan once more with a different insect. This happens to be a bad time to be wandering the halls. Obi-wan head to do a, rather graceful, flip to avoid taking out Masters Yoda and Plo Koon while on the run. Anakin is close behind and he barely has time for more than a shouted apology.
Anakin has his bug held high and is excitedly telling his master that "this one is crunchy. you'll like it!" with a little too much glee.
Yoda watches Anakin pass by. takes a deep breath and uses a long frog-like tongue to snatch the bug right out of anakin's hands.
"running in the hallways, against the rules, it is." ☺️
anakin, who knew his master wouldn't eat it and had planned to have it himself when he was done tormenting obi. -- "😟 my bug"
Yoda is, fondly, referred to as "Master Steal your lunch" by Anakin the next time he sees him. Yoda, seeming to sense his error, and enjoying being a menace as much as Anakin, even if it's kept under wraps for the most part, sees an opportunity to ruin someone's day.
He snatches a fly from midair with his tongue and then wipes it off on his robes before offering it to Anakin, well aware it had his saliva on it, as a replacement for his pilfered snack.
There room is draped in horrified silence.
obi-wan is nearly in tears
"oh, merciful force. Anakin, i beg you... don't... "
Anakin seems to have a silent conversation via eyes before he smiles pleasantly, takes the fly, thanks the master so very pleasantly, and just pops it in his mouth, to the unending despair of his master.
Obi-wan has his head in his hands, mortified by this nonsense.
"please, Master Yoda, i beg you, don't encourage him"
imagine if your boyfriend was like I can smell an ant. and started tracking

So I had ideas for Mecha Pilot AU while reading some of the things that other people have sent and those ideas turned into this!
Enjoy some Hot Rod shenanigans!
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
It starts when Hot Rod catches First Aid trying to smuggle a metal sheet out of the base.
Well, no, it really started when the higher ups said that Jazz, allegedly, stole a half put together experimental mech unit. Which, Hot Rod would like to point out, makes absolutely no sense. Jazz is smart. If he was going to steal a mech, he’d wait until it was completely built and fully functional. No, there was something else going on and it had something to do with those strange upgrades that a few of the mechs got. Jazz had taken one look at them and booked it.
Then immediately stole a half made mech that was completely covered in the stuff.
All of this happening after he had been gone for months before mysteriously returning.
Point is there’s something going on and it started with Jazz.
Presently, it has something to do with First Aid and the hunk of metal he’s carting around.
The hunk of metal that looks like that strange upgraded plating.
“Sooo…” Hot Rod says as he looks the other pilot over, “We stealing now?”
“No, I- this is- Vortex is up next for the-.”
“Nah man, you’re fine.” Hot Rod walks over to the back of the cart and places a hand on the metal. “I’m game for whatever we’re doing, I just want to know if we need to be sneaky.”
“It- what? We?”
“Yeah.” Hot Rod smiles and tilts his head to the side, like this was a given. “So, we stealing?”
First Aid gives him a look that’s a cross between befuddlement and scrutiny. It’s one he gets often, but the newer pilot seems well practiced with it. A solid eight out of ten honestly.
“This isn’t for profit.” First Aid says slowly. “And this isn’t for me.”
Hot Rod’s smile takes a slightly more feral edge. “Even better.”
_._._
Apparently Jazz has an alien robot boyfriend and the higher ups were using parts of his body for upgrades.
Very morbid, but sadly not surprising.
They need to get as much of the original frame as possible back to Ratchet as that would make repairs easier.
They’ve apparently been getting a lot of the pieces that had already been on other mechs through “collateral damage”.
First Aid had shrugged, “It’s not my fault if an upgraded mech gets between Vortex and a monster.”
The real tricky bits to get were the ones still on base and being tested. Which, for some reason, included an entire oversized thumb.
An oversized thumb he and First Aid are trying to sneak out from under Shockwave’s nose.
“The rest of the hand was in random parts of the base.” Hot Rod mutters. “Why did the thumb need to be in such a secure area?”
“Complain louder. I don’t think the bugs heard you.” First Aid sasses in a hissed whisper.
Hot Rod shivers at the reminder of Shockwave’s “helpers”. Knee high robots with four legs and a hexagonal face. They would’ve been cute had their singular yellow eye not reminded him of the eerie visage that is now the scientist's face. Shockwave used them to help in his work but to also keep an eye on his lab and the surrounding hallways.
“Don’t even go there, Aid. You’ll end up jinxing-.”
His warning is interrupted by a faint skittering from around the next corner.
“Crap crap crap crap crap crap crap.” Hot Rod looks around frantically before shoving himself, First Aid, and the thumb into the nearest door.
It turns out to be a closet. What kind of closet? Hot Rod doesn’t know and he refuses to find out. While it could be a normal supply closet, he’s not taking the chance that it could also be storage for strange and dubiously ethical experiments.
So Hot Rod crams himself into the small space while keeping his eyes entirely focused on the door as he closes it. He and First Aid hold their breaths as the skittering of the bug gets louder, comes right in front of their hiding spot, then continues on without pause.
They both let out sighs of relief and Hot Rod sets his forehead on the door.
First Aid makes an inquiring hum. “There’s a vent in here. Think the thumb would fit?”
“Oh no.” Hot Rod says, face still against the door. “Do you have any idea how loud that would be? We aren’t dragging a large metal thumb through the metal vents and destroying our hearing with the echoing screeches.”
“Well, what do you propose we do then? Take it out the front door?”
_._._
“That never should have worked.”
“You should never underestimate the power of looking like you know what you’re doing while carrying a box.”
“That never should have worked.”
Said large and long box holding the alien robot thumb sat innocently in the back seat of Hot Rod’s truck.
_._._
“We need a movie for Rachet and Drift.”
Ratchet, who is helping Jazz repair Prowl, gives Hot Rod that “befuddled and scrutinizing” look that everyone seems to give him (A definite ten out of ten for Ratchet; truly a professional in giving out looks to others). “What?”
“Well, yeah! We’ve got Ratatouille for Jazz and Prowl. Aid and Vortex got a reverse Ratatouille-.”
“How’d you hear about that?” First Aid demands.
“Tailgate.” Hot Rod answers easily, then turns back to Ratchet to continue his previous thought. “So now we need to think of a movie for you and Drift!”
Ratchet’s eyes narrow in the unspoken promise of bad things to come. “No.”
Hot Rod, being the one who got a mech that catches on fire and made it work, takes Ratchet’s look as a challenge. He snaps his finger and points at the older man “I got it! ‘The Iron Giant’.”
Ratchet scoffs, rolls his eyes, and gets back to working in the alien robot’s arm.
“What?” Jazz protests, while keeping his main focus on the internals of Prowl’s arm, “Iron Giant? Really? That’s a loose connection at best and you know it.”
“Oh? And do you have something better?” Hot Rod playfully challenges.
“Dude, ‘Lilo and Stitch’ is right there.”
“How is that any better than mine?”
“Because War Crimes McGee here,” Jazz gestures to an amused looking Drift before getting back to his work, “is a better fit for Stitch than the Iron Giant any day of the week.”
Jazz may have a point, but while Hot Rod’s mom may have raised a fool, she definitely didn’t raise a quitter.
“So Ratchet here tells Drift all about ohana and kicks off his character arc?”
“Not everything's one to one, Roddy. I’m not using Prowl to become the best chef is Paris. You just don’t want to admit I’m right.”
“I agree with Jazz.” First Aid cuts in.
Hot Rod gives him a mock glare. “You’re just saying that so you won’t have to agree with me.”
First Aid shrugs. “True, but that doesn’t mean he’s wrong.”
“Children. The lot of you.” Ratchet grumbles.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
And yeah! Ideas was mostly ‘Hey, they could probably have Vortex get pieces of Prowl back since fights like that are bound to be very chaotic and Vortex would have no hang ups about attacking allies every now and then’
It went further as the idea of Hot Rod and First Aid trying to do spy things and be sneaky but somehow succeeding due to Shenanigans was too funny to pass up XD
Loving this AU so far and all the cool stuff people are making for it!
OMG THE CHILDREN ARE STEALING FROM THE BIG CORPORATION IM SO PROUD OF THEM~~
Also the way all these different plot lines are crossing each other and occasionally coming together is just so cool I love it
Like, yeah we have fucked up horror, we have space drama, we have Lilo and Stitch aaaaand we have option to combine them together. Also now there is Shockwave so all the guys have the "free angst" option I gues ahahah
#dude Lilo and Stitch is right there#HELP#YEAH NO THIS ENTIRE AU IS JUST CURSED VERSIONS OF MOVIES WHY NOT HAHA#KFNFBFKGKFNKFF#WONDERFUL#mecha pilot jazz au#tf mecha universe

And They Were Roommates pt.10
summary: friendsgiving, you meet all the slytherins, this kinda doesn't contain a lot, just meeting new characters and wholesome interactions, i might make a part two to this lmao
cw: casual drinking? firewhisky is mentioned but you can interpret it in any way you want really
word count: 2.1k
“Stop that, Siri,” you scolded, swatting at his hand, “It’ll never boil if you keep stirring it.”
You were at the stove, boiling water for potatoes, or trying to at least. Sirius, bless him, wanted to help out, but he was really just in the way if not a downright hazard in the kitchen.
“You told me to boil and stir, those are my duties and I take them very seriously.” He said with a chuckle at the last part. You rolled your eyes and scooted him out of the way.
You had already baked a lovely cake, and helped James cook some chicken and pasta, the last thing you had to make were the mashed potatoes. Remus had cooked up some veggies and was storing them in the warmer.
About a week ago, you suggested a “friendsgiving” to the boys. They had no idea what you were talking about, staring at you and blinking blankly as you explained the concept. You just wanted to have your friends over, all under one roof, and eat yummy food and play fun games. It sounded easy, in theory, but it turned out to be a lot more work than you were expecting, especially since one of the three boys could not cook to save his life. You decided to put Sirius in charge of drinks and entertainment and that appeased him.
The house was a rush for a couple days, you all decorated and figured out recipes you were going to make for the whole group. Then there was the inviting everyone and setting a time that everyone was available. It was like herding cats.
Your friends, Mary, Lily, and Marlene, were all easy. They communicated and organized and everything went off without a hitch. But Sirius wanted to invite his brother and some friends that you had yet to meet and they seemed…. Well a little less communicative and organized, but that was apparently very normal for them, none of the boys were upset by it.
“Remus,” you called into the other room. The tall boy appeared on the doorway in an instant. “Would you please help me finish the food?” you asked sweetly, batting your lashes to really drive it home.
Remus smirked and rolled his eyes. “Only if I have to.” he replied jokingly.
Sirius whined from beside you where Remus was now moving him out of the way. “Well what am I supposed to do?” he said, pushing out his bottom lip in a fake pout.
You looked at him and smiled, knowing his antics, he was only wanting to stay in the kitchen so he could “test” everything you were making. “Why don't you help James?” you suggested. James was in the living room, setting up some fall-ish decor which included strings of leaves he found outside. He claimed the colors were too pretty to be left out in the cold, so he hung them up insead. It was cute.
Sirius huffed and exited the kitchen. You continued on cooking, a little faster and more efficient now that Remus was actually helping you. It was a little while later, as you were finishing up, you heard some muffled arguing in the other room. You and Remus gave each other a confused look, then went to go and see what all the commotion was.
You entered the living room and it was completely transformed into a fall wonderland. There were strings of leaves hung up across the ceiling, carved little woodland creatures strewn about, candles lit everywhere, and a fire stoked in the fireplace. The room had a warm glow to it. You stood there in awe, taking it all in. Maybe you should put Sirius on decorating duty more often.
“How did you do all this? And.. you were in here for like ten minutes, how?” you asked, still in shock.
Sirius smirked at you. “Magic,” he drawled, shoving what looked like one of the decorative sticks into his back pocket. James shook his head at Sirius, and Remus coughed from beside you. You couldn’t believe it, he and James must have worked really fast.
Your attention was drawn to the door, hearing a knock and some cheerful chatter. You smiled, instantly knowing who it was.
You opened the door and were met with the sight of Mary, Lily, and Marlene, all holding dishes they made.
“Hello love!” Mary sang, kissing you on the cheek before stepping inside. You hugged both Marlene and Lily and let them in as well.
“I can’t believe you actually live with them,” Marlene said to you while handing her dish off to James. “I mean, if you ever need an escape, just let me know and you can come stay with me instead.” she said, conspiring against her friends.
You laughed but answered, “I like it here, the boys are lovely.”
Marlene blinked at you in shock. “The boys? Lovely?”
“They better be,” Lily chimed in, glaring at both Sirius and James.
The latter held his hands up in defense as the former confirmed “We’ve been on our best behavior.”
All of you settled in, the girls leaving their dishes on the long table that James had somehow conjured up early this morning. You all found space on the couches or chairs or just on the carpeted floor. Conversation was lively, they all were recounting stories about their school days.
You learned a little bit more about the boys through the eyes of the girls. Apparently Remus was known as sort of a “casanova” in their years at school, James and Sirius got detention every day for three months but were able to sweet talk their way out of it after only a week, and that they had once set a fire in their common room.
“It was small!” James defended himself and his friends. “And we put it out eventually, didn't we?”
“Yes, because I supplied the water!” Lily laughed, making the rest of the room chuckle along with her.
“What about you, Y/N? You have any harrowing tales from school?” Mary asked.
You shook your head and let your gaze fall to the floor. “I was way too shy to do anything bad or adventurous in school.” you supplied.
“You never got into trouble?” James asked. “Not even once?”
“I mean…Not for anything like setting a common room on fire.” you shot back at him, jokingly. James smiled at you, the perfect, warm smile that he often reserved only for you. The type of smile that would instantly heat your face.
You were grateful for the knock at the door, taking the attention away from you and your growing blush.
Sirius jumped up and raced to the door, opening it to reveal a boy you had yet to meet. He looked almost exactly like Sirius, the only differences were his shorter hair and his sharper features, almost cat like.
“Reggie!” Sirius exclaimed, wrapping his arms around him in a tight hug. The boy stiffened a bit but pat Sirius on the back. "You didn’t make anything?”
The boy furrowed his eyebrows. “Why would I make anything? Can’t we just-”
“Regulus! It’s been too long” Mary called out, skipping up to him and hugging him as well.
“Where are the other two?” James asked.
The boy shrugged. “Honestly I don’t know, I told them I was leaving at 5:00 and for them to be in the car. I left at 5:00.” he said plainly, making James chuckle.
“And they weren't in the car?” James asked again.
“They were not in the car.” The boy confirmed smiling slightly, just the corners of his mouth, but somehow it lit his face up entirely. He turned to you, looking you up and down. “Hello, I’m Regulus.”
“Hi, I’m Y/N.” you said, giving him a small wave. “I’m their new roommate.” you explained, nodding your head to where James stood beside you.
“Oh right, Sirius mentioned you,” he said. You couldn’t really get a read on him, didn’t know if he liked you or not, if he was friendly or not.
You were saved by Marlene inserting herself into the conversation by asking, “So Reggie, uh, do you know who else is coming?”
Regulus turned his attention to her and smirked. He raised his eyebrows and said, “Oh yeah, Pandora is coming. Can’t wait to see her.” He smiled at her like he knew something, like he was onto some game she might be playing.
“Cool, yeah! Love Pandora. I’m, uh, excited to see her too.” she said quickly, then walked away. Regulus and James laughed.
There was another knock on the door, Sirius again opened it and revealed two girls standing side by side. One with dark brown hair and the coolest clothes you had ever seen, the other with blonde hair and an eccentric aura around her. The blonde was holding a tray of baked goods and the brunette was holding some sort of bottle.
They said their hellos to everyone before the blonde stopped right in front of you. “You must be Y/N! It is so lovely to meet you. I am excited to get to know you more, I’m Pandora by the way.” she said in an airy type of voice. She seemed sweet, kind. You were excited to get to know her more too.
“Yeah, nice to meet you too.” you said.
“I made pumpkin pasties, I hope that's alright with you.” she said, motioning with the tray in her hands.
“Oh, uh, yeah that’s great, thank you so much.” you started, “I’ve never had one before so, I’m happy to try one!” you finished, trying your best to match her cheeriness.
“Never had a pumpkin pasty?” she asked, cocking her head to the side. “They are practically all I would eat when I was at-”
“I’ll take that.” Remus interjected, taking the tray gently from her hands.
“Oh Remus! How have you been? I was wondering about…” she started, getting distracted from you and following Remus into the kitchen.
The other girl now stood in front of you. “Hey, I’m Dorcas.” she said. (you noticed Marlene blushing in the corner, eyeing her. Is this who she was hoping would show up…)
“Hi, I’m Y/N,” you repeated to her. “Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too,” she echoed the formality. “So… you’re living here now? With them?” she nodded to Remus and James in the kitchen.
“Yeah,” you said, nodding.
She handed you the bottle in her hand. “This is for you, I think it may come in handy living with that bunch.” she laughed, her voice smooth and soft. “It’s whiskey.”
You giggled and thanked her, taking the bottle. “Drinks, anyone?” you asked, raising the bottle up for all to see. There was an assortment of yes’s and agreements. You made your way to the kitchen to start handing out drinks.
Everyone was mingling and drinking, making their way to the table. You sat between Remus and Dorcas, talking to her about clothes and jewelry. She was wearing some of the coolest rings you had ever seen and you needed to know where she got them. “Oh here,” she said, handing you one you had asked about.
“W-what no. I couldn’t” you stuttered, shocked that she would be willing to give it up. Like she had known you for years, like you were sisters sharing clothes.
“No, don't worry about it, think about it like a house warming present or something.” she explained, popping the ring on the placemat in front of you. “Besides, I like making my own rings, I can always make another.”
You thought right then that she may be the coolest girl you had ever met.
There was yet another knock at the door. “Late as always!” Mary sang from the other side of the table, making the room laugh. Pandora was the one who jumped from her seat and made for the door.
“Evan!” you heard her call out. She re-entered the room with two boys behind her. The first boy was tall, almost as tall as Remus, and blonde like Pandora. The other was slightly shorter and had green streaks dyed into his black hair. The second boy was holding a pie.
“I told you I was leaving at 5:00” Regulus muttered from one of the heads of the table.
“We made a pie.” the one with the green streaks said, extending out the pie he was holding.
Lily crossed her arms over her chest and raised a brow “you made a pie?” she said with an accusatory tone.
The green haired boy smiled. “We bought a pie, and the pie is here.”
You stood and walked up to the two new boys. You introduced yourself and took the pie, telling them to follow you to the kitchen so they could grab drinks as well.
“I never thought the day would come when I would be jealous of the marauders.” you heard the green haired boy, whose name you learned was Barty, mumble to the tall blonde boy, whose name was Evan, Pandora’s twin brother.
so this one was so fun to write even though nothing really happened, I just like to flesh out all their personalities kinda... idk. also there is so much magic in this one if you're looking for it. I do wanna do a pt.10 pt.2 lmao but that is so silly

— 「 FLASH FIRE 」
lighter lorenz x reader — 2.8k — mdni summary: it’s reciprocal - lighter helps out with your car, you fuck him in the back seat. everybody wins. content: unprotected sex, forgetting to pull out, creampie, titsucking, hair pulling, brief mention of fisting.
You're running out of excuses.
You had traded favors and supplies for car maintenance for months now. Strictly business, at first, but the aimless teasing had quickly evolved into flirting, and the flirting had rapidly shifted to something more physical. Soon, your car became plagued with all kinds of problems, both real and imagined. Lighter had even let you get away with asking him to change your tail light. He didn’t even seem to realize what you were up to - not at first, anyway.
In reality, Lighter's had you figured out ever since you called him to check your tire pressure. You don't really need his help for most of this stuff, but he puts on a good show when he spreads his tools out in your garage. Your eyes always drift to his biceps when he hefts up the hood of your car. He braces a hand against the side, leans his weight into it, and you're torn between gawking at the way he peers down at the guts of your car, appraising, or the way his ass is squeezed into those jeans, hips cocked, heavy boots tapping against the garage floor.
It usually ended up in the backseat of your car -- or on the hood, or pressed up against the side. You had started stashing condoms in the center console.
“Need me to change your oil?" He offers one day, cutting off the way you're grasping at straws, floundering to keep him on the line. "It's about time."
Was it? You didn't know. You assumed he didn't either, figured he'd show up, check the mileage, and shake his head. Not quite time yet - but that's all right. He already came over, so he can find something else to work on.
But when he rolls up to your place he's got oil and a catch pan in hand. His jacket is discarded on the back of his bike, leaving him squeezed into a white tank top. He pats your arm as he walks by, eyes gleaming behind his sunglasses. Your surprise clearly delights him.
You plop into the back seat while he works, peppering him with offers for his service. Faint guilt swirls in your gut. You hadn't expected him to actually work on your car today. You could pick up his groceries when you ran into town, or help the Sons out with planning for Settlement Days. Each offer was barely considered, dismissed by a muffled ‘nah’.
It turns out the benefits of hooking up with Lighter include free car maintenance.
“You're all set,” Lighter says, slapping his hands against his thighs as he stands. He rounds your car to tower over you where you sit. Your legs swing, hanging off the edge, scuffing against the floor.
You spread your legs for him to step between — force of habit. Can't help but spread ‘em when Lighter steps up like that, when his hands brace against the top of your car and he sways down. He steps between your legs, nudging your knees wider with a powerful thigh.
“How am I going to pay you back?” You sigh dramatically, stifling a giggle. Lighter pretends to think for all of three seconds.
“A kiss?”
“That's all?”
“You're right. Two kisses.”
You grin. You can do better than that. You grab the front of his shirt and tug him down. He ducks past the door, laying you back against the seat. His kiss is languid, smiling against your lips as you laugh. You pull back to take his sunglasses off, noses bumping. You fold them closed and set them in the front seat, half-sitting up to reach.
Lighter takes advantage of the way you stretch, the column of your throat bared to him, ripe for his kisses to darken you skin. He sucks a mark beneath your jaw as you lay back into the seat. His hand slip up your shirt, palms lighting a warm path against your skin.
You roll up off of the seat, tits pressing into his chest. Lighter rolls your shirt up, separating from your neck briefly to fling your shirt outside of the car. His body covers your again, pressing you back to the seat. His scent, earthy and mouthwatering, infused with a tinge of oil and sweat, blankets you as he noses against the hollow of your throat.
You flip open the center console, searching sightlessly for a condom. Lighter works your bra off to paw at your tits, taking a moment to appreciate the weight in his palm before he latches on and sucks. His teeth scrape against your hardened nipple and you keen, back arching, pressing his face deeper into your breasts.
"Fuck - relax. Milk's not gonna come out," you grumble, free hand fisting tightly in his hair.
Lighter moans. He pops off one tit, dropping a sloppy kiss to the valley between your breasts. His knee slides up firmly against your pussy, grinding against you until you catch onto his rhythm and do it yourself. He's got that smug look on his face when he licks up your other, neglected breast, tongue lapping at your skin but lips never sealing around you.
You tug at his hair. Another moan, louder, more whiny. Your clit pulses against the seam of your jeans, and he finally commits to sucking your tits again.
Christ, you've got to find that fucking condom.
You sift through old receipts and miscellaneous bits and bobs blindly, struggling to find that elusive, crinkly little square. Lighter's hands slide down your sides, squeezing the dough of your hips tightly. He flicks the button of your jeans open, drawing his leg back to wiggle your pants halfway down your thighs. He palms your cunt through your panties and whines again, tremulous and pitiful.
"I'm so damn hard," Lighter groans. He drops his forehead against your collar bone, warm breath puffing against your skin. A searing heat blooms in your belly.
“Do you have a condom?” You blurt out. You can’t keep fumbling around like this - you need him now.
Lighter’s hand squeezes you, middle finger trailing against your clothed slit. He keeps one hand stroking your pussy while the other reaches behind him, patting the pockets of his jeans. He swears under his breath. His finger taps just over your clit - using your pussy like a damn fidget.
“I’ll pull out.” That’s his genius solution.
You should say no. You should offer to blow him, or let him fuck your tits, or anything other than the tried and true pull out method, but Lighter dips his fingers beneath your panties, presses the pad of his thumb against your clit and rolls. Sparks ignite in your veins. His finger teases your entrance. He only has to press gently into your before your greedy cunt tries to pull him deeper.
You grit your teeth. The promise of more makes you whine. Fingers won’t be enough. He could take his time finger fucking you open until he could fist you and it still wouldn’t be enough. You need his cock and you need it now.
“Okay,” you breathe out, face warming. You shouldn’t be agreeing to this. Even Lighter seems surprised. He picks his head up from your chest to meet your eyes, brows arched. You melt under his watch, body puddling against the seat. You roll your hips. His thumb stays steady against your clit, lets you roll yourself against his hand.
If he wants to ask if you’re sure, he loses the will when you squeeze around his finger.
He’s got more patience than you. Lighter presses kisses along your jaw, murmuring “okay,” as he slips down your body. He nips at your neck while his finger strokes through your soaked cunt. You try to spread you legs wider, to accommodate the fit of his hips, but your knees are trapped by your jeans, still hanging on for dear life.
You kick your foot and whine, your pants flapping comically. Lighter laughs. He struggles to pull them down further with just one hand.
“Hold still,” he murmurs, shifting awkwardly in the cramped back seat. His chest presses against yours, pinning you down with his weight. In the tight space, it’s impossible to escape his scent, his warmth, the hand toying with your pussy instead of shucking your pants off, winding you up.
You squirm beneath him, barely able to move. His laugh pools from his chest and into your.
“So fun to play with.” His voice is a rumble next to your ear. Your body tenses, skin feeling tight, flushed, stretched thin in anticipation.
“Hurry up,” you whine, jolting your hips up against his. He sucks a breath through his teeth.
It’s a heated blur. His hand withdraws from your pussy. He struggles with his belt long enough for you to wedge a hand between your bodies and try to help. It's finally open, his zipper barely down before you're shoving your hand into his pants to palm him.
He pushes your wrist away gently to pull himself free. The thought of taking him into your mouth makes drool pool in your mouth. You swallows thickly, swollen lips pouting. Eyes on the prize.
“Whatcha want?” Lighter leans back, his back hunched awkwardly in the small space of the back seat. He strokes himself slowly, his eyes fixed on your cunt.
“I want you shut the fuck up and fuck me.”
He taps the head of his dick against your clit, eyes lingering on the way he bounces it off your body, the way your thighs tense. Your struggle to stay still is plain as day in close quarters. Lighter grips the base of his thick cock. He slides himself through your folds, glistening tip nudging against your clit, each pass making you clench around nothing.
“Please,” you whine, smacking your head back against the seat. Your hands grip his biceps, nails biting into his skin.
He doesn't give you a chance to beg again. The fat head of his cock glides snugly into your pussy, the first inch frictionless and squelching. His fat cock catches, the stretch enough to make your breath sutter. Lighter plants a hand by your head, fingers dimpling the cushion. He pulls out, fucking himself deeper.
His forehead drops against your breast, chest near heaving. Lighter's hips stutter - barely restraining the desire to pound you into the carseat.
“You feel so fucking good,” he moans. He grinds into you, thick cock dragging against your walls, each roll of his hips sucking him in deeper and deeper until you can feel him in your stomach.
Your voice is caught in your throat, toes curling, knees pressing in, pussy trying to lock him in. You squeeze around him again and again, pulsing. Lighter bottoms out with one last, powerful roll of his hips, his restraint slipping, shuffling you up against the seats. Your cry out, pushing him back only to tug him closer, his face suffocated in your tits.
His hand slips down your spine, finding the small of your back. He angles your hips up, cock battering perfectly against a spot that has you crying out at each thrust, nails streaking red line against his biceps.
"Shit— shit," he pants, face buried into the junction of your neck, hips pinning you to the seat.
Lighter’s hips rabbit into you, fucking you hard and quick, lost in the feel of your gummy walls.
Never going back to fucking condoms,” Lighter puffs out. Every thrust presses him against your clit. Tears prick at your eyes. Your mind blanks. You babble something incoherent in response. Your hand wedges between your body, rubbing frantically against your clit. “Feels so good. Not gonna last– fuck!”
Your dripping pussy has him in a vice grip, spasming as his hips drive into you again, again, again. Stars explode behind your eyes, fingertips clenching, chest too tight. His hips pin your hand against your clit. He doesn't draw back fully again, drags his fat cock hard and languid against the same spot over and over until all that tension unspools and the warmth spills over into your veins, onto his cock, coating your seats.
Lighter fucks you through it, voice pitching higher as his thrusts get sloppier, more desperate. He grumbles promises into your skin – gonna buy your birth control, baby, don't make me squeeze into a condom again, you feel too fucking good, holy shit, fuck, cumming—
You're already half-way to bonelessness, riding out the current of pleasure churns in you, when he floods your pussy with his cum. Spurt after spurt of his thick seed splatters against your walls. Your stomach flutters, eyes glazed.
Lighter's hips pump and sputter, staggered and stuttering, fucking his cum deeper into you. He leans his weight against you fully, muscled body pressing the breath from you. You don't know how you could be closer than this but you crave it, crave him, need more, need this to be unending.
Gradually, his hips slow. He comes down from his high, the whine in his voice pitching back to gravel. His cheek rests against your shoulder, hands flexing against your skin. You pet his hair idly, eyes shut, soaking in the bliss and the closeness.
His cock softens in your puffy walls, but his muscles tense with a sudden realization.
“Shit– I'm sorry,” he says in a rush, picking his head up to look at you. You only hum, confused, barely cracking an eye open. “I– inside. I didn't mean to–”
Oh. Ohh, fuck.
You swear quietly beneath your breath. Your teeth catch your lip, worrying it for a moment – but as fucked out as you are, brain still melted, it's difficult to muster panic.
You stroke his hair firmer, trying to urge him to lay back against you. His strength is evident in that moment when he resists your pull. The restraint in his touch is clear - and the threat of his strength has your aching clit twinging painfully. You were going to have to unpack that later.
“Lighter - it's fine,” you say. “I'll go to town later.”
“I'll drive you.” His tone brooks no argument. He pulls himself away from you, and the cold prickles against your flushed skin. You can't help but feel lost when he pulls himself out of you, pussy throbbing for the stretch of his cock - missing him already.
He tucks himself into his pants again, not bothering to zip back up. He bends, the curve of his tight ass on display. You sigh dreamily - nearly forget to react when he tosses you your discarded shirt back.
Lighter holds up a finger, chest still heaving and flushed, fluffy hair matted to his forehead with swear. He disappears from view, rattling around in your garage out of sight, before he comes back with a rag in hand.
"We should do this in a bed," you say, accepting the rag Lighter passes you. You inspect it carefully. No oil, no dirt - good enough for you.
"I think I can get a truck for an evening."
"What? No," You laugh. "Like a bed bed. With pillows, and blankets."
Lighter keeps his back turned to you, arms pausing mid-stretch. He rolls his shoulder, fluffs his hair - takes his sweet time turning back to face you.
Your stomach churns. Fuck. That was too much too quick. Sure, he just came inside you, but you were going to scare him off like this. He wasn't going to help you air up your tires ever again, much less fuck you–
"I can put pillows and blankets in a truck bed," he points out.
You huff a laugh, shaking your head. “I guess that's better than nothing.”
Lighter's lips quirk into a smile. He ducks back into the car, tapping your hip. You scoot back to make room for him. He lifts his arm, expecting you to curl up against his side.
“I'll drive you out for the sunset.”
“The sunset?” You repeat skeptically. You hadn't expected something so… sweet.
Lighter shrugs you closer. He tugs at a lock of your hair, teasing.
“Or for stargazing,” he counters, a hint of desperation sneaking in, cracking past his suave performance. “Whichever.”
You study him for a moment. He feels so unguarded in this moment, without the vestiges of the champion. He's just Lighter in this moment - just the man who fucked your brains out in the back of your car, who was at your beck and call for every stupid excuse you could conjure up just to see him.
“Both,” you decide. You nestle your cheek against his shoulder, eyes slipping shut. “If we stay long enough, we can do both.”
A guaranteed, precious few hours with him all to yourself. Your stomach squirms. You blame it on the feeling of his cum slipping out of you, pretend that your affection isn't burning you up from the inside.
Lighter shifts to kiss he crown of your head. His hand trails a lazy path against your arm, fingers warm, comfortable against your skin, his touch so different from the way he had pressed against you moments before.
One of these days you were going to get this man into a proper goddamn bed, but you'd settle for malapropisms until the time came.

Well hang on, there's more to it than that.
In 2005 the EU and US came to an agreement about what could and could not be called champagne, and the rules around it. American wines sold as "champagne" must specify the geographic origin- they can't pretend not to be from the US. Also, this only applies to brands that existed before March 2006 because of a grandfather clause protecting the many businesses that already existed. Any brand established after then may not call it champagne and has to call it sparkling wine. International law does apply to champagne.
Tweed, now. (Before I get into any actual research that I did, I would like to point out that tweed is not food. I'm not trying to be a dick, but the laws and governing bodies regulating food are not the ones regulating tweed. Anyway.)
Trademarks like Harris Tweed are more likely to be protected by the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property of 1883, which the US did sign, and is still in effect.
Harris Tweed specifically also has the Harris Tweed Authority, a legal body which was set up by the Harris Tweed Act of 1993 to enforce the exclusive ownership of their tweed. I'm not a lawyer, but I interpret this bit as meaning that they are responsible for filing trademarks in the countries they sell to, including the US.
Their website (harristweed dot org) has what looks to be a pretty comprehensive labels policy and brand rules document. By purchasing from the company, you sign a contract agreeing to behave with their product, and that applies in every country they've registered a trademark in.
TLDR yes it is
The answer to "What the h*ck goes on on those islands to the North and West of mainland Scotland?" by Derek Guy @/dieworkwear on twitter [x]
#please reblog i spent far too long researching this#oh i almost forgot#parmesan and parmigiano reggiano are not the same thing#parmigiano reggiano is a registered trademark in the us#and as long as american cheese doesn't call itself that it's fine#the argument being that it's cheese ''in the style of the cheese from parma'' i.e. parmesan#which is dumb but still different enough to matter

Writing Notes: Compelling Characters
Characters & Goals
“Every character should want something, even if it is only a glass of water.” –Kurt Vonnegut
Characters should almost always have clear goals, even if these goals are not immediately made obvious to the reader.
Without goals, characters lack motivation—that is, they have little reason to do anything interesting.
For this reason, many writers connect the main character's goals to the main conflict in the story. This generally means that the main obstacle to those goals plays a key role in the plot as well (for instance, in the form of a villain).
Often, the main character is most interesting and when confronting his own shortcomings in pursuit of his goals.
There are a few ways to construct this character-plot connection:
CHARACTER-FIRST APPROACH
Constructs a story’s plot for a character that already exists.
It asks a writer to build a character that they find interesting and then assemble the plot around them.
Example: A character who is struggling to overcome a phobia might, as a plot element, come into contact with the thing she fears. Success in this instance would mean that she doesn’t let the fear overcome her.
PLOT-FIRST APPROACH
Starts by defining the major conflicts the writer wants to include in a piece of fiction and then builds a character who will be motivated by those conflicts.
Example: A writer could decide to explore the effect of a catastrophic storm on a city before writing a main character. A character that would feel motivated by this conflict would be one with a connection to the city or to someone living in the city. Therefore, the son of someone who went missing in the storm would likely be a good focal character for this story.
Small Goals & Big Goals
Though it’s important for characters to have at least one big goal, it can be boring for the reader if a character is totally preoccupied with a single motivation.
Strong characters generally have two or more goals of varying sizes that they might confront separately or at the same time.
The reader excitedly anticipates your character's success or failure in achieving their goals.
Believability
Another factor that can contribute to a successful character is an element called “verisimilitude,” also called “believability.”
When writers talk about believability, they talk about whether the constituent parts of a character make sense and feel cohesive.
Example: We might expect a character who gets paid minimum wage to struggle to pay her bills, so if we see her driving an expensive car or spending several hundred dollars on a meal at a fancy restaurant, we would question these details.
There are, of course, stories in which these situations could exist, but the reader would need to know what allowed them to happen (inheritance from a late relative, perhaps, or an irresponsible approach to personal debt).
Suspension of Disbelief
Stories that take place outside of a realistic modern setting will generally require some extra work on the part of the writer to make them believable.
This is because of an idea called “suspension of disbelief.”
This refers to the tendency of readers to challenge details of a story that seem out-of-place, but not to question those details if they are presented with enough contextual justification.
Example: A story contains people who can fly with human-size wings. The reader would need to learn early on that this is a normal event that occurs in the story world. A reader who unexpectedly encounters flying humans three-fourths of the way into a short story could easily be baffled by this development, and might also consider it a cheap cop-out if it's used to resolve a plot conflict.
Adding Physical Detail
In addition to planning your characters thoughtfully, you must also sketch them coherently on the page.
Careful selection of physical and environmental details will make some of your character’s traits visible to your reader without you having to tell them outright what you mean. Examples:
A character who is disorganized might have wrinkled clothing or might consistently arrive late to appointments.
An introverted character might bring a book or notebook everywhere they go and might also stay out of crowded spaces (or feel uncomfortable in those spaces).
Symbolic Meanings
Be aware of the other meanings that a detail can bring into a piece.
A physical detail, especially one that appears multiple times within a work, might also develop symbolic meanings in addition to its literal meaning.
Writing Exercise
In a short vignette, and using only physical details (e.g., characters' clothing, appearance, or body language), make it clear to a reader that a character is experiencing one of the following conditions: worry, hunger, grief, joy, confusion, lack of sleep, anxiety, homesickness.
The word you chose should not appear in your vignette, nor should any synonyms.
Adding Personality
Broadly, “personality” refers to the collection of beliefs, thought patterns, and other mental qualities that dictate a character’s actions.
A personality trait could be the character’s bubbly disposition, their self-deprecating humor, or the fact that they’re always nervous.
When constructing a character, it’s important to think about how she would react in a number of situations.
Here are some questions to help you discover your character’s personality traits:
Is he fond of attention, or does he avoid it?
Is she curious to learn more about a topic/location/person, or does she keep to herself?
How big of a role does fear play in his day-to-day activities?
How does this character react if things don’t go the way she wants them to?
Does he think that he’s more intelligent/less intelligent than others around him?
Does she think she’s average? How would she define “average?”
How does he feel about making decisions?
Does she make decisions quickly or slowly?
Does he tend to regret decisions they’ve made?
It’s helpful to connect these traits to elements from the character’s life or past.
Example: A character who grew up with a controlling parent might have difficulty making decisions once they start living on their own.
Personality traits might also overlap with physical traits.
Example: Talking too loudly or too softly or interrupting others.
It’s also important to make sure that your characters aren’t good at everything they come across.
Doing so will reduce your story’s believability because—let’s face it—no one is good at everything.
To this end, you should allow your characters to fail at something, whether that something is huge or inconsequential.
Writing Exercise
In a short vignette, deliver some news to your character.
The news can be good or bad.
It can affect just the character, or the entire world population, or any number of people in between.
How does this character react?
Who do they tell, if anyone?
How do they interact with the space they’re in (e.g. punch a wall, hug a stranger)?
Try this exercise several times with the same character but different contexts (e.g., the character receiving the news alone versus receiving it in a public place) to see how they react under different circumstances.
CAUTION: Using Fictionalized Versions of Real People
It’s common for writers to borrow details from real life—the shape of a stranger’s chin, a classmate’s clicking of their pen during a quiet exam, or the restaurant server’s shrill laugh, to give just a few examples—but a writer should be wary of recreating an entire person on the page.
There are legal reasons not to do this, of course, but there is also the danger that a story filled with too many real-life people and events will be flat and boring.
Fiction should generally be a healthy mix of the ordinary and extraordinary.
If the mix is skewed too far in one direction, the reader can find the piece too unbelievable or too boring.

here's a very, VERY explicit prequel to this little fic where Hob rescues Dream from his repressive home life and they run away together except the prequel is 4x longer
topics include purity culture, virginity, and Dream getting the sexual awakening of a lifetime
--
The third time Dream meets Hob in the tavern, he goes up to Hob's room at the end of the night.
He was always taught he should save himself for marriage. That access to his body was only to be bestowed upon his husband--the one chosen by his parents, of course.
But Hob doesn't make him feel that way, like his body is some prize, and Dream himself not part of the equation. He makes Dream feel wanted, wholly wanted, whenever he is there. He makes Dream feel... free. Like he belongs wholly to himself.
Dream always wanted to cover himself from the gazes of the suitors his parents brought around. He did not like the way they wanted him. But he likes the way Hob wants him. He likes the way Hob looks at him, like he would ask Dream a question he already knows the answer to just to taste the way Dream says it, like he would bring Dream close and make him know why he should want to be brought close. Dream wants to know why. He wants to feel it, all that Hob can give him.
When Hob offers his hand, Dream takes it. Follows Hob up to the room he's booked above the tavern. He lets Hob undress him, breathing unevenly as Hob's fingers ghost over his skin, undoing buttons, pushing his top off over his shoulders.
Hob's hands frame his throat. He studies Dream hungrily, tracking over his chest, his shoulders, the curve of his waist. Dream feels unpracticed, unrefined both in wanting and being wanted, but maybe Hob's hands, Hob's gaze will sculpt him into a finished being.
"God, you're so beautiful," Hob says, a ragged exhale, and Dream feels himself blush. Made daring by Hob's regard, he sets his hands on Hob's chest, palms flat. Feels the rise and fall of his breathing. Vital. Strong.
He had imagined sex to be sterile. Rote. A mechanical process. That was how it was always framed, for him. But he touches Hob's chest and he feels he can reach in and dig his fingers into the meat of Hob's flesh, join their veins and feel himself become something-- dirtied, but not in the way his mother would frame it, not wrong, but dirtied the way tree roots are, fresh and organic, connected to the earth, clinging to the natural detritus of being alive.
He slips out of his shoes. Then he undoes the ties on Hob's shirt, bids him pull it off over his head. Hob's chest is revealed to him, his broad shoulders, and hair over his sternum and pectoral muscles, which Dream digs his fingers into. He wants to put his mouth on Hob's skin, swallows, throat clicking, as the impulse washes through him. Is that what intimacy is, these strange instincts and desires to touch in ways animal and raw? Dream has barely touched anyone in years beyond formal handshakes with strangers, the occasional uncomfortable hug from his family, and now he's possessed with the feeling that he must put himself all over Hob, must make up for it on every inch of his skin.
Hob puts his hands low on Dream's waist, thumbs brushing under his waistband, kisses Dream's neck, and under his jaw, deep biting possessive kisses like he too could dig under Dream's skin. Dream gasps, heart pattering, heat flooding his belly and between his legs at the wet, sure contact of Hob's mouth. Hob makes his way to the corner of Dream's lips, biting, then claiming his mouth, tongue sweeping inside. Dream is so hot, so tense between his legs now that it almost hurts but he doesn't move away, only tips his head back into Hob's kisses, holds on, shivering, knees unsteady.
Hob undoes the tie at Dream's waist, lets his trousers fall, and Dream steps out of them, now aware suddenly that he is totally bare before Hob. Hob studies him hungrily, hands again low on Dream's hips, thumbs sweeping up and down over the juncture between thigh and pelvis. It makes Dream squirm pleasantly and want to push Hob's hands lower.
Hob backs him up, slowly, until Dream's back is touching the wall, and then Hob kneels before him. Nudges Dream's thighs apart.
"What...?" Dream breathes. Then gasps as Hob takes Dream's thighs in his hands, leans in, and sets his mouth to him.
Dream had imagined much, but not this. Not Hob licking up through his folds, sucking on his clit, only coming closer when Dream starts to tremble, pushing the tip of his tongue inside him.
Dream knows he's woefully under-educated when it comes to sex; he understands the practical mechanics of how his body works, but not all the ways to bring pleasure to it. For once he doesn't rue the lack of knowledge, for it's allowing him to be so pleasantly surprised.
Hob knows more than him, and is setting all that knowledge to making Dream feel good. That feels heady. It feels powerful.
He leans back further against the wall as Hob keeps opening him up on his tongue, drinking in his fluids, his beard scratching Dream's inner thighs. Dream feels so wet, he must be drenching him. The thought makes him moan and dig his fingers into Hob's hair.
Hob lifts one of Dream's legs over his shoulder, gets in deeper, craning his neck back. Dream shakes, holding tight for balance, soft noises pulled from him by Hob's tongue. Hob's mouth has found the brightest point of heat between his legs and stoked it higher. There is another, throbbing heat deep within him, heavier with each stroke of Hob's tongue, and he hopes, he hopes, Hob will touch it soon, too.
Hob grips his hip in one hand, fingertips pressing in tight enough to leave bruises, gets his other hand up to play with Dream's folds, dragging through his slick, as he moves to suck again on his clit. Dream digs the heel of his bent leg into Hob's back, swaying, shaking, wanting to close his legs over Hob's hand and equally, spread them wider for more. Then he feels Hob's fingertip at his entrance, and Hob pushes gently, but relentless into him.
Dream cries out, clutching tighter at him, body thrown into confusion over the tumble of sensations, Hob's tongue still on that sensitive nub and his beard rubbing Dream's inner thighs and now his hands, the slight pinch and pressure of his finger entering him and then the wash of heat and slick as Hob moves, stroking him from the inside.
"That's it, darling," Hob murmurs, breath hot against Dream's skin. "God, you taste so good. You feel so good. You're perfect. Is that good for you?"
"Yes," Dream breathes. "Yes, yes--" he breaks off in a jagged cry as Hob's finger catches on a spot in him that lights his belly up and makes his legs shake, and then-- oh! The tension heavy between his legs and hot in his belly crests and releases in a rush. Heat flushes his throat, his chest, his cunt spasms around Hob's finger, over and over again.
Breathing hard, he opens his eyes, having not realized he closed them, and looks down. He finds Hob, kneeling, face wet with Dream's spend, finger still buried in his cunt, looking at him with reverence. He thinks he ought to feel shame for finding himself in such a position. But there is no shame.
He touches Hob's mouth, where his own spend glistens. Knows the hair between his legs is just as sticky. He looks at it with wonder. He has brought himself off in his own bed before, most recently to thoughts of Hob, but it was not like this. It was never so full-bodied, leaving him shaking inside and out.
His legs tremble and give out, and Hob just barely gets himself untangled quickly enough to catch him and help him down to the floor. Dream giggles, high and woozy and feeling loose and warm in every limb. He can feel the echo of Hob's hands on and in him. He feels wet and messy and he never wants it to end, he never wants to go back to being his other self, never wants to put his shell back on.
He leans his head against Hob's, and feels the curl of Hob's smile against his cheek. Hob doesn't ask him whether it was good. He surely can tell how Dream feels. He pets Dream's hair, and lets Dream's curl into him, holds him close as his heart rate slows.
"You are," Dream says, when he's gotten his voice back, "wonderful."
Hob laughs. "Oh, darling. We are just getting started."
"Oh?"
Hob, of course, has not reached completion yet. Dream doesn't know what his plans are in that regard, but he's curious to see what happens next.
He reaches between them to cup Hob through his breeches, and Hob sucks in a breath through his teeth. He's very hard, straining against the laces, and Dream wants to touch, wants to see.
"Go on," Hob says, low and breathy.
Dream undoes the ties, and takes him out. Holds Hob's cock in his palm.
It is lovely, thick and slightly curved, soft to the touch and beading with pre-come, his balls hanging heavy below. Just looking at it, between Hob's strong thighs, makes him shiver, his cunt clenching involuntarily. Dream had understood the basic mechanics of penetrative sex before this, the basic structure of bodies, but he's never actually seen a man's penis before. And certainly not one that's aroused.
He stares at Hob's. He is meant to fit that inside him?
"You are really stroking my ego right now," Hob says, laughing. "Do you like what you see?"
Dream does. Still. "I don't know if I can take you."
Hob makes a choked sound. "God. Keep talking like that. But don't worry. It's okay if you can't take it. But I bet you can. You're capable of more than you know. Not just in this."
"You like the idea that I could not take you?" Dream asks. Fantasies given voice are so new to him. He's intrigued.
"No. I want you to be able to. But I like the idea that it challenges you, that," he breathes out, heavy and wet, "that, you have to work and stretch your body to fit me. Just a bit. That it's not so easy. But it's worth it."
Hob does challenge him, every time they meet. But Dream never feels that Hob will push him, make him go beyond what he is comfortable with. It's because of this that Dream consistently wants to push himself.
He imagines Hob pushing inside him, and feels himself grow wetter, his body caught in a spiral of heat once again.
"I want to try," he says. But he wants to touch Hob, too. He gives an experimental stroke of Hob's cock, pumping up and down, cups Hob's balls in his other hand, tugs lightly, curiously. Hob curses and tucks his head down, forehead pressed to Dream's shoulder.
Dream likes this reaction, and keeps at what he's doing. He enjoys the weight of Hob in his hand, how when he gets the rhythm right, Hob jerks and shudders against him, fingers gripping tight on Dream's hips. Hob thrusts into his hand, and just watching the animal movement of his body makes Dream have to swallow hard to clear his mouth, makes him hyper aware of how his kneeling position spreads his cunt open below him.
"God, your hands look so pretty holding my cock," Hob breathes.
They do. Dream's hands are not small, exactly, but his fingers are slim and make a wonderful contrast against the girth of Hob's cock. He feels this must be one of the places he was meant to be.
"Won't last long looking at you, though," Hob warns.
Tempting though it is to see Hob brought to pleasure at his hands, Dream does want more. "What do we do now, then?" he asks.
Hob gets his arms around him and stands, scooping Dream up. Dream squeaks, clutching at him, as Hob carries him over to the bed and lays him down, watching him with hooded eyes as he steps out of his boots and strips off his breeches, standing bare before Dream.
Dream studies his body hungrily. His cock, standing hard and proud, his strong thighs, the breadth of his shoulders, the slight softness in his belly that gives him a satisfying solidity. Dream feels sharp and thin by comparison but it is not unpleasant. He likes the thought of how much power Hob could exert on him.
Dream holds out a hand to him.
Hob comes to him, settling on the bed between his legs. He runs his hands up and down Dream's thighs, parting them, bending his knees up. Dream's heart pounds in his throat, shivery at the touch of his hands, at the exposure of being spread open, the potential of Hob between his thighs.
"You're utterly perfect," Hob says, sounding wrecked. Dream makes a low whimper. "God, darling. What a privilege."
Dream feels the privilege is his, to have Hob's regard and desire and care, but he likes the thought of being desired, too, of being cherished. That Hob takes this moment as seriously as Dream does--not as the fundamental change he'd once been taught virginity was, but as a moment he feels he's chosen, something given to himself, a breaking down of the fences put up around him.
Hob runs his fingers through Dream's folds, where it's wet and sensitive. "Should be getting open now," he murmurs, and slips a finger into him. It goes easily, and Dream whines. Hob works his finger in and out, then slips in a second one, and Dream cries out at the added pressure. It feels good though, and the look on Hob's face, hunger and reverence, is even better.
"Please, Hob," Dream says. "Fuck me."
Hob groans. "You'll be my death."
He settles himself between Dream's legs, hovering over him, braced on his arms by Dream's sides. This sets their faces in line, and so Hob leans down to kiss him, deep, longing, licking into Dream's mouth, sucking on his tongue. Kissing Hob is so much more addicting than Dream had ever thought kissing could be. He makes Dream want to take in the most delicious way. Makes him feel needed.
Hob breaks their kiss, saliva drawing between their lips, breathing hard against Dream's mouth. His eyes speak his need, and he needn't voice it but does anyway. "Dream. Need you."
Dream wraps his arms around Hob's shoulders. Smiles up at him.
Hob shifts his hips, works a hand between them to line himself up. The head of his cock presses to Dream's cunt, delicious blunt pressure that makes Dream whimper. Hob slips in gradually, holding himself steady above Dream's body, and Dream works on his breathing, shivery and unsteady as Hob pushes in deeper, deeper, splitting him open and lighting him up all at once.
Dream had-- he had not known it could feel good. He had been told it might hurt, except somehow with Hob he had always known it wouldn't. He'd trusted Hob in that. Still he had not expected being fucked to bring him much pleasure, he had wanted it because he liked the idea of it, and because he was curious, and because he wanted Hob to want him and to make Hob feel good.
He hadn't expected to have a hoarse cry wrenched bodily from his throat as Hob sinks all the way in, to clutch at Hob's shoulders and wrap shaking legs around Hob's waist, toes curling, trembling all over because he's so full. Hob is inside him, and the bodily knowledge of it makes his cunt clench involuntarily, wet and aching, and he whimpers as he's held open by Hob.
It is a bit of a challenge to take him, as he'd expected, but as Hob had said, Dream's body knows what to do, relaxes into being had, finds space he didn't know he could make and carves it open for Hob's body. Don't let yourself be taken, don't let yourself be brought down, he's been told over and over, but this feels anything but degrading. He is taking Hob into himself, holding Hob within him, an act of care and generosity, and knowing now, too, the pleasure it can bring him as well, Dream feels he is making out very well indeed.
Now Hob is trembling with the effort of staying still while Dream adjusts. "God," he says, voice choked, "you feel so good, love."
"You said I could do it," Dream says.
"And you have, good boy."
A shiver runs all through Dream's body at the words. Hob always tells him he is good, tells him he is good and right for choosing himself, for choosing his own pleasure, tells him he is perfect just as he is. No one has ever said that to him before. And he hadn't believed it at first, but now, with Hob, he feels it.
"Hob," he says, voice thin, "please."
"Should be the one begging you," Hob says. But he starts to move, slowly at first, a slick slide in Dream's body, each thrust pulling a moan from Dream's throat. He clutches to Hob's shoulder with one hand, the other buried in Hob's hair, holding on as Hob rocks him. Hob kisses Dream's neck, sucking in marks that will surely show later, breath hot and wet as he pants against Dream's skin. Dream wants them to show. He wants all of this to show on his body like a tattoo, wants to mar his skin with his own choices.
Perhaps he may be using Hob to rebel, just a little, but somehow he doesn't think Hob will mind.
He holds on, breathless, as Hob moves faster, chasing his need in Dream's body. Not making love, though Dream does feel cared for. Fucking him. Hard. Fast. Rocking the bed under them, shaking Dream's whole body. Dream is falling into senseless obsession with how it feels, to take all of Hob's need, the power of him between Dream's thighs, the pressure in his cunt, the heat building again in his belly, Hob's panting breaths and moans. Dream closes his eyes, hears himself making mindless sounds, cries and whimpers, gasping punched-out breaths. He feels shaken out of focus, and hot, and craving, more alive than he's ever felt.
Hob rolls onto his back, settles Dream on his hips. This dislodges Dream from him, and he whines, bereft, until Hob helps lift him, and Dream has the pleasure of sinking down on him again.
It's deeper this way, and Dream cries out as their hips come flush. Hob caresses his sides. He's out of breath, sweat glinting along his throat and chest, but his gaze is adoring. Dream likes this view. He likes being exposed. He likes being seen.
"Do you like what you see?" he asks, and Hob laughs.
"Oh darling, you know I do." He holds Dream's hips gently in his hands. "Go on. Take your pleasure."
It does feel pleasurable this way. Deep. Thorough. Dream rocks his hips experimentally, and Hob groans.
"That's it, love, keep going."
Dream keeps going. Lifts himself up, thighs shaking, then sinks down again. Does it again. And again. Until he's found a rhythm, rocking down onto Hob, then bouncing, faster, in his lap, Hob's hands on his hips helping him along. He whines as Hob scrapes his insides, fills him up so pleasurably, again, again, again.
He finds himself panting on each thrust, letting out involuntary cries of ah! ah! as Hob gazes at him adoringly. Dream tips his head back. Lets go. Rides Hob with abandon, taking moment after moment of pleasure from his cock.
His climax sweeps through him unexpectedly. He cries out, clutching at Hob's hands, cunt spasming around Hob almost painfully. Hob groans, hips jerking up into him, and comes. His hot spend floods through Dream's insides, and Dream cries out again at the feeling. It's good. It's so good. Hob is in him, Hob has left something in him, made himself a part of him, an indelible mark that Dream will always know was there. It can't be taken away. He knows, he knows, he shouldn't put a prize on virginity, but now it is Hob's, and it is his, and no one can undo that, no one else can have it, no matter how much they crave it. Dream gets to have it. Dream gets to give it to whom he chooses.
"Easy, darling," Hob says, as Dream keeps panting above him. "You with me?"
Dream collapses onto him, Hob's soft cock slipping out. Dream whines at the sudden emptiness, but it's made up for by Hob's lips against his temple as Dream lies on him, catching his breath.
When he's caught up to himself, when things are no longer spinning, he lifts his head, and kisses Hob. Sinks into the touch, Hob's hands on his hips, the wetness still between them, Hob's spend dripping from him, their naked bodies still pressed together. He's never felt more messy and ruined. He's never felt more embodied.
"Got you to come twice," Hob says, grinning, as they press their foreheads together. "Next time I'll make it three."
Dream laughs. "You will spoil me."
"God, I hope so." He strokes his hands up the backs of Dream's thighs. Touches, just briefly, where his own spend slips from Dream's body.
"I've never been one to make much of virginity," he says. "Bit ridiculous, in my opinion. But. I can't lie. God do I like being your first."
"You like the thought of setting my standards," Dream says. "Of leaving your trace on me." Or maybe it is just Dream who likes these thoughts. His own fantasies are beginning to unspool from his tangled mind as he lets himself reach for them.
Hob hums in agreement.
Eventually Dream slides down to lie beside him. Hob turns onto his side, head pillowed on his arm, gazing at him.
"So, first time for so many things," he says. His smile is fond. "What was your favorite?"
"I'm supposed to have just one?"
Hob laughs. "One at a time, then."
Dream considers. "I like being naked with you," he finally says, and Hob's face softens in surprise. "I feel... like myself, that way. Like I don't have to hide. It feels so natural."
Hob strokes his fingers up and down over Dream's bare hip. Dream likes the feeling of it, Hob's touch, nothing between them, nothing to cover up the truth of him.
"You're beautiful like that," Hob says.
Dream curls inward, presses his face to Hob's chest. Not to hide, but to be close. Hob drags his fingers through his hair, catching in the tangles, pets his cheek, the line of his neck, his back. If Dream had his way, he would stay right here forever, cradled in Hob's arms.
He knows he cannot, not tonight. He will have to re-clothe himself, put back on his skin, return home-- but not for another few moments. For these few moments, he can be with Hob, quiet, beloved, free.
~
At home, Dream paces his bedroom, restless. The peace that had settled in his bones as he'd lain with Hob has retreated again to the edges of his being. He feels like a caged creature, something given a long-craved gift only to have it snatched away again.
Someday. Someday he will figure his way out of here. For now he collapses onto his bed in his sleep clothes, wishing desperately that Hob were there, or rather, that he were with Hob. And not here.
He needs Hob. He's gotten a taste, and he's become ravenous. Insatiable. He's had Hob, he's been had, and still he wants more.
And he doesn't feel bad about it. Not at all.
He slips his hand in his pants. He had not gotten his mouth on Hob, as he had craved in the moment. So he imagines it now.
Meeting Hob again, and Hob bringing him up to his room. Dream falling to his knees before him. Hob's hard cock at eye level. Hob's hand light on his jaw. Open your mouth, darling. Dream doing so, obediently. Hob laying his cock on Dream's tongue. Dream tasting it, holding the heft of it in his mouth, feeling the shape within him, bobbing his head, taking Hob down. Hob saying, that's it, love. His cock bumping the back of Dream's throat, Dream hollowing his cheeks, learning as he goes, bringing him pleasure with the warmth of his mouth. Hob's grip tight in his hair. His hips thrusting up powerfully into Dream.
Dream touches himself, fingers moving fast over his oversensitive clit, cunt spasming painfully at the images that run through his mind. Hob's powerful body, and how it would feel for him to come in Dream's mouth, his soft gasp above Dream's head, his spend flooding onto Dream's tongue. How Hob would sink down with him after, bring him close, cradle him, saying, You're beautiful, you're perfect. My sweet starving boy, I'm so glad you're full.
Dream comes with a groan, legs drawing in at the sharp ache of it. That was probably too much, he was already too sensitive, but he feels insatiable now, he still wants Hob.
He wants Hob always. He wants Hob's naked body pressed up against him. He wants to go to sleep with Hob's cock in him and wake up with Hob already rolling him through a gentle, surprised climax. Hob has opened this door in him, and Dream cannot bear to close it.
He feels bright and full-bodied and alive, and his bedroom is a dim prison.
He has to get out. He has to find a way out. He's thought it before, but never has he wanted it so badly, never felt like he might claw his own body apart if he can't.
But. Now he has Hob. Will Hob help him?
He has never had someone who might help him. His siblings have kept his secret, diverted attention from him so he can meet Hob, but they would not have the wherewithal to rebel in such an open and consequential way. Nor had Dream, before this.
He finds he's caring less and less about the consequences. Finds them, for the first time in his life, vastly outweighed by what he wants.
Perhaps Hob will help him. Dream thinks he might. But even if he does not, Dream must act. That is paramount.
He wants to be with Hob. But he needs to be free.
#hob created a MONSTER and you bet he does not regret it#at this point dream's mother still thinks he's her perfect obedient child meanwhile dream's sneaking out to get railed by a local criminal#LMAO#dream's level of sex education in this is hilarious too bc he got all the biological facts but none of the fun stuff.#he's like yeah i know what an ectopic pregnancy is. who doesn't. hang on what's oral sex#dreamling#my writing#nsft

out of curiosity, do you know of any games you’d consider legitimate ‘elf-kissing games?’ you know, high fantasy games that engender drama with mechanically explicit/reinforced relationship building systems?
besides d&d, of course. /s
Sadly I haven't found a perfect example of such a game: to me Monsterhearts is the best example of a TTRPG that centers romance and it is a perfect urban fantasy teenage monster romance game, but that disqualifies it on account of it not being high fantasy. Also, Monsterhearts' mechanics are very much about melodrama and like very petty, jealous, teenage romance, so it would not be the best for it.
Anyway, high fantasy intersects a bit with chivalric romances, and for that there's nothing better than Pendragon, a game of Arthurian chivalry in a setting that resolves the ahistoricity of Arthuriana by saying "well, Arthur was such a special guy that chivalry basically was real during his reign as king of Britain." It owns. Anyway, the game has actual mechanics for measuring characters' spiritual attributes, including their Passions, which covers things like strong feelings of hatred and love, so in that sense developing romantic feelings is mechanized and rewarded. Now, while knights doing quests is an important part of the gameplay, the game basically rewards characters for simply doing chivalric things, which means that besides doing quests knights are explicitly rewarded with Glory (the game's big reward currency) for engaging in romantic trysts. But sadly it isn't quite there because it is very heavily tied to a place and time, and I feel just transplanting the game into a fantasy setting would be doing it a huge disservice.
Which leads me to Mythras or RuneQuest 6th edition: basically the same game under two different names (Mythras is RQ6 rereleased after the creators lost the RQ licence). I won't go into the details but RuneQuest basically is part of the same lineage as Pendragon. Or they're like separate branches of the same tree. Anyway, somewhere along the way the creators of RuneQuest decided to basically borrow the idea of Passions into RuneQuest, and they serve pretty much the same mechanical purpose. The main issue is that while there are mechanical incentives for increasing a character's Passions (which works the same as increasing any other skill or attribute) they don't exactly represent relationships, as much as they represent internal emotions. Basically, a character's Passion of Love (Target of their affections) can be entirely one-sided. That's not to say that the system can't be worked to represent developing romantic relationships, but it's a bit of extra work (having said that: Mythras/RQ6 already is something of a "some assembly required" toolkit game, unlike the more recent RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha which is a very specialized game using the same engine, it's a whole thing). Mythras/RQ6 is a very traditional type of fantasy RPG but notably one where character growth isn't simply through becoming better at combat, and combat is somewhat disincentivized by the game. So it actually is a game that does wonders for romantic fantasy.
There's also Burning Wheel, which is a fun and gritty game, which has a system not unlike Passions in its BITs (Beliefs, Instincts, and Traits), but like Mythras/RQ Passions they are internal.
So I have yet to find the perfect elf-kissing game for myself, but if I had to choose I would personally pick Mythras: it is a very trad type of game concerned with verisimilitude above all else, but it has just enough tools for providing some mechanical grit to romantic relationships. In fact, when I first started reading it one of the first things I realized was "I would so much rather use this to run romantic fantasy than Blue Rose" (a romantic fantasy RPG powered by the Fantasy AGE system which suffers from the Fantasy AGE issue of ultimately being a D&D ass game with some light relationship mechanics on top).
Now having said all of that: there are hundreds of games out there that center romance, which I haven't mentioned here either because I'm not familiar enough with them or because they are not specifically high fantasy. But let me just rattle off a couple of those that I would love to play at some point: Star Crossed. Court of Blades. Eyes on the Prize. Heck, looking some more at the blurb of Court of Blades, it might actually be perfect for this ask, even though it is also like a general courtly intrigue game. Anyway, hope that's something.

Chapter Selection
“... Babe, I know you've described Damian's mom as a ‘real piece of work', and Bruce told me a bit about how she raised him before he came here, so I do know she's not what I would consider a good mom. But that doesn’t explain why her visiting means we can't go to the manor?”
Jason sighed, setting his phone aside. He cupped my cheeks, purring my name; “darling, light of my life. I mean this in the best possible way. … You cannot be trusted to keep your cool with her.”
I blinked several times, frowning; “what on earth does that mean?!”
“You are … passionate. You love fiercely, and I love that about you. Seriously, I don't want you to think this is a bad thing; the way you love us makes me feel so safe, and I know Damian agrees. But … you've already yelled at one of his teachers, his principal, and Bruce. You will not be able to hold your tongue with Talia. And holding our tongues is necessary with her. … If she believes living at Wayne Manor is making Damian weak, she will take him away 'for his own good’.”
“How on earth would I make her think he's weak?”
“Talia is the type of person who believes attachment makes us weak. The things we care about can be used against us, the people we love are the people who will hurt us the worst. She believes it's better to be feared than loved. She's why he's so good at masking his feelings. Why he doesn't always understand his own feelings; his early education did not include processing and recognizing emotions. But she's … incredibly astute. She's analytical, and brilliant, and terrifying, and … she's his mother; she taught him everything he knew before he came here, and now she can read him without trying, even when he tries to hide his feelings from her. So if she sees how you two are around each other, even if neither of you so much as acknowledge each other, she'll know how you feel about him, and how he feels about you, and we'll probably never see him again.”
I growled softly, clenching my jaw. “… Bitch…”
He chuckled softly, holding me close. “I know. Which is why we have to keep our distance. … She doesn't visit often, and when she does she never stays long. She'll probably be here for a week at most, stalking the kid to make sure he's not slipping, and once she's gone I’m certain he'll show up on our doorstep.”
I sighed softly. “... Ok. … If you see him between now and then you have to find a way to tell him that I’m missing him and I love him very much, ok?”
He groaned softly. “Aw, come on, babe. The Red Hood can't lean in to give Robin a hug during patrol!”
“I'm not asking you to hug him - don't hug him! Just make sure he knows that I'm thinking about him. Please?” I pouted, snuggling against his chest; “for me?”
“Ughhhhh …. Fine. For you.” He sighed, running his fingers down my spine.
I grinned, snuggling against him happily. “Thank you~”
“Yeah, yeah …” he chuckled, kissing my temple. We sat on the floor, curled against each other, for a long while before Jason finally moved us to the bed to get some sleep.
Jay quickly started moving his things into my place. I gave him my spare key and made space in the closet. When I got home from the next girls night some of his clothes were hung up next to mine. The next day there was one of those cheap plastic dressers next to my nice wood one, and sitting on top of it was Jason's cologne, a book, and his deodorant. His shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel joined mine on the side of the tub. We bought more towels and a new set of sheets.
All these little changes made me giddy; his things slotting into position next to mine just felt so right, and I would get used to the weapons that were suddenly stashed all over the apartment. We had a thorough gun-safety presentation that night, and he showed me where everything was. On the next gym-and-range day, we finished training with an exercise where he would, entirely at random, shout “intruder” and time how long it took me to have a weapon trained on him. My best time was two seconds; he had expected me to go for the gun in the drawer, not the knife block in front of me on the counter.
Soon I started packing Jason a lunch for patrol. Mostly because I wanted to take care of him in some way, but a part of me also hoped he'd run into Damian out there and share the cookies I made. He rolled his eyes at me the first time I pressed the insulated bag into his hands, but accepted it anyway. I sent him off with a kiss and a wave, and settled in to wait for him to come home. Hours later I fell asleep on the couch, and when I woke up it was 4:30am and he was unlocking the door. The exhaustion rolled off him as I pulled him into a tight hug, and we collapsed into bed. When I woke up for real around 11 the lunch bag was sitting on the kitchen counter, empty and clean. I grinned, filling it again that night, and Jason didn't offer so much as a token resistance before taking it.
A week and a half passed before he ran into Robin on patrol. Jason assured me that he had passed along my message, Damian was perfectly healthy and definitely missed me too, and he had even been forced to share the brownies I'd packed. I beamed, kissing his cheek in thanks, and we curled up in bed.
The next day, we started looking at houses online. We obviously only looked at what was available in Red Hood's territory; on top of him wanting to stay close to his patrol area, it was on the opposite side of Gotham from the well manicured lawns of Bruce's gated neighborhood and thus the perfect place to set up my clinic. Whether our home or the cave was closer, the bats would never be more than 30 minutes away from medical care. Jason took note of a few addresses he wanted to go check out, promising to swing by during patrol to see if they were securable.
“No reason to arrange a showing if I'm not gonna be able to make it safe for you.” He kissed my forehead, wrapping an arm around my waist. I chuckled softly, leaning against him. I was pretty sure he was the one who would need the most security measures to feel safe in our new home, but I wasn't going to argue. The way he lit up when providing for me was too precious a sight; if I complimented his cooking he turned pink and mumbled it was nothing. I thanked him for switching over the laundry and he sighed happily, nodding. When he saw progress in my training he beamed. And when he came home safe in the early hours of the morning, all anxiety and stress melted off of him the second he was in my arms.
In a lot of ways, life was starting to feel incredibly normal. We were like the picturesque 1950’s family I'd been taught to simultaneously idealize and vilify; until the spring semester at GU started I was free to spend my time how I pleased, and with Damian's mother still in town, that mostly meant finding new ways to feel like I was giving Jason as much as he gave me. I made sure he always had enough treats in his lunches, in case Damian was out too. When Jason returned from patrol I inspected him for any small wounds my first aid knowledge would fix. I doted on him every chance I got, and he doted right back. It was wonderful, truly.
But when he left for work, and I was alone with my thoughts, the stillness in the apartment quickly became overwhelming. At first Damian's sudden absence from my life had been annoying but acceptable. But after the first couple days it started to feel like a rabid dog was using my heart as a chew toy. Why was his mother still here? What was she doing? What was she saying to him? He had been making such incredible progress; he smiled more, he initiated hugs, he accepted them more readily. He was painstakingly tearing down the walls around his feelings brick by brick. It was a difficult process, and he was being so brave, I couldn’t be prouder! But what was she doing to those walls while I was kept away?
It had been two weeks, and I was starting to wonder if she planned to stay for the holidays. I didn't want her to stay for the holidays! I had plans, and I couldn't do my plans if I couldn't go to the manor! Being barred from Wayne Manor meant no Damian, but it also meant no Steph, no Dick, no Tim, none of them! We had decided it would be best if it looked like I was just Jason's girlfriend; as far as Talia knew he was indifferent to the family, if that. So I had to appear indifferent at best as well.
I was still able to go to girls' night, because that was being held at Barbara's home. There was no reason to believe Talia would know or care about that. But I missed training with everyone. I missed finding new ways to tease Tim. I missed Dick's good natured laugh. God help me, I even missed Bruce! He pissed me off, but he was still kind to me for the most part, and he was a good trainer. I wanted things to get better with him, for Jason and Damian's sake. I wanted him to be the dad they deserved, the dad Dick believed he wanted to be. I was pretty sure he had it locked away inside him, he just needed … something. What exactly that was, I wasn't sure; maybe to see how happy Damian was with simple childhood experiences? Or to see the peace on Jason's face when we cooked together. Or maybe he needed to experience some of that for himself. But whatever he needed, I was sure he wasn't getting it, and until Talia al Ghul left I wouldn't find out.
I tried to busy myself with crafting and baking. With the winter holidays on the horizon I really should have started on presents around Halloween, especially considering how many people I was making gifts for this year. But better late than never, so I used the time alone to get started. Jason would be gone for hours, I had plenty of time. Or, I would have if not for the knock at the door.
I jumped, looking up incredulously. I wasn't expecting guests, especially this late at night. Anyone I wanted here had my phone number, and no one had called or texted. I grabbed my phone, just to be sure, but I was right - no unread texts, no missed calls. A moment later there was another knock, this one more insistent.
I grabbed one of Jason's guns and my phone, ready to call him with the push of a button, and looked through the peephole. A beautiful woman was standing at the door, an unamused look on her face. Her clothes were too elegant for this neighborhood, she definitely didn't just wander to the wrong door. I sighed, a sinking sensation in my gut as I cracked the door open just enough to reveal my face.
“... Hello?” I frowned.
She raised an eyebrow; “... is hospitality well and truly dead in this country, or are you going to invite me in?”
“At eleven o'clock at night, in this neighborhood, with an uninvited stranger on the doorstep? It’s dead. Now, would you like to introduce yourself, or should I shut the door?”
She tsked; “I am Talia al Ghul. Why have you been spending time with my son?”
I silently cursed, but forced my expression to remain bored and distrusting; “... Your son?”
“Damian …” she sighed, “I believe he's using his father's last name now, Wayne.”
“Oh, Jason's brother? He's not here.”
“Obviously not.” She snapped; “are you going to let me in?”
“Why? He's not here.”
“I know he's not here! I want to know why you've been spending so much time with him.”
“I dunno about ‘much’. I've met him.”
“You are his emergency contact at that paltry excuse for a school he is enrolled at.”
“Oh, is that what you're so upset about?” I shrugged; “'m just doing a favor for Jay by doing a favor for his dad.”
“... Elaborate.”
“Mr. Wayne is a busy man, I am not a terribly busy woman. Emergency contact at the school was a simple enough thing to take off his plate. Kinda thing that seems bigger than it actually is. He now associates me with his life being ever so slightly easier. He already associates me with Jason, ergo he now associates Jason with his life being slightly easier.”
She frowned deeply. “You are emotionally manipulating Bruce into … what, being kinder to his second son?”
“... I suppose so, yeah. Didn't really think about it that way. 'Manipulation' makes it sound so much more convoluted and … effort-full. All I did was sign a piece of paper.”
Her expression morphed into a small smirk; a very Damian-like expression. “... And you are Jason's … girlfriend?”
“Yep.”
“... Hm.” She nodded once. “... Very well then.”
“... Okaaay. … So are you like, sticking around or somethin'? Do you want to be the emergency contact now?”
“No, there is no reason for that…” she pursed her lips; “establishment to have my phone number.”
I shrugged again. “Alright… Anything else?”
“... No, I suppose not.”
“Kay. I'm goin' back to bed then. Goodbye.” I shut the door, locking it, and looked through the peephole again. She glowered at my door, seemingly considering something, and finally left.
I watched her walk away until she was entirely out of sight, then slowly retreated to the couch to text Jay.
Me: Everything is fine, do not panic; but I just met Talia. 11:20pm
Jason: I'm coming home. Don't open the door to anyone. 11:35pm
Me: 👍❤️ 11:36pm

Agatha All Along deep dive: episode 5 part 3
(Wandavision entries: [1][2][3])
(AAA entries: ep1 [1][2][3][4] ep2 [1][2][3][4] ep3 [1][2][3] ep4 [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][+1] ep5 [1][2][3][4])
when I first watched this I reallllllly hoped sharon was about to come back. but she wouldn't have ever called herself mrs. hart, that was an obvious giveaway
I know I'm repeating myself but - THIS MOTHERFUCKER
aw of course alice is immediately protective. that's so hot of her.
rio you'll have to stop being delighted at her antics, you're only enabling her at this point
agatha you fucker. and kudos for the excellent debra jo rupp impression, kathryn.
it's sweet and so sad that lilia fell for it. she consistently loses her seer abilities when dealing with the guilt for the people she couldn't save
jen is so done
rio is dismissive but also soft when she says this. and then she raises her eyebrows at agatha, as if dating her to deny it.
you can literally see her mask falling off.
billy shakes his head, disappointed. this is the first time he sees agatha fall so low
rio is like, come back here and face the music, my darling. she's really not letting her off the hook anymore
rio laughing in delight when death is mentioned, like yes! that's me! I'm here! just happy to be included!
agatha's panic is so overwhelming she's already at the point when she bolts. but there's no running this time. billy, like wanda, is merciless.
screaming so awful that lilia jumps back to episode 2 to escape it. meanwhile, rio.
(is jen wearing bunny slippers lolll)
yes, yes, it's hilarious that she had to spit out her retainer. but dear god evanora getting to jen first because she's the one agatha hurt the most.
now rio is casually modeling. she's making a great show of not caring about what agatha is going through
her coven turning her back on her. again.
sorry for always pointing out what rio is doing, but aubrey is killing me. now she's going oh well! you heard what the lady said! looks like I'm not the only one who thinks you're a piece of shit!
and despite it all rio (who, once again, is not allowed to kill a fly) is not doing what everybody else is doing. she's just being butthurt at agatha
the essays I could write about agatha's internalized misogyny
oh billy, no. you didn't ever realize all the shit you were stirring.
wow this particular line coming from jen really hurts
rio is trying to decide if she's into zombie agatha, lol. it's like she's always in a different show than everybody else. or rather, she's transcending genres, she's always doing her own thing because the Road doesn't affect her. while the others see real danger, she sees painted sets she can cut through with her knife.
but look what happens next. rio suddenly turns serious, and there's even a hint of panic in her voice. it's as if she realized this is not all tricks and smoke.
and finally, she fully comprehends how dangerous billy is. like, the staggering scale of it. chaos magic creates life in an artificial way that goes against everything rio stands for. wanda did not create an illusion of Vision, she made a real, alive vision out of thin air. billy himself was created the same way. and now he has effectively brought back evanora - not a pale imitation, a ghost Evanora functionally indistinguishable from the real thing, just as full of hatred and just as capable of hurting agatha. if it wasn't personal before!
you know, I didn't like this episode as much as the others on first watch, but I was wrong. there is a lot to unpack here. like many things on AAA, it's all in the subtleties.
go to episode 5 part 4

[head in my hands] diabolical hockey au just hit me rn-
thinking about being the specgru’s head coach’s controversially young gf, and most of the team are fucking enamoured.
so taken by how you look that, sometimes, they’d chirp at their coach (it’s nikto.. i have been bewitched 😣) about how maybe they’d get to focus if he just brought around his little sweetheart and nikto stares at them with pursed lips and deadpanned eyes before making them run lines for hours.
but nikto’s… intrigued by this. because he is the first to say that yes, you are a doll. god, the prettiest of them all - he still doesn't understand why you even chose him but it's not like he'll let you go anymore, darling. not a chance.
but mactavish's chirp is still bright in his ears that nikto realizes that maybe, just maybe, he can indulge the boys a little bit.
just a smidge. not enough to actually give them a taste, but just a spark; light up that hunger they're feeling, and maybe nikto can even get a reward for himself. maybe they'd finally lockdown on that powerplay or even solidify their defense, but whatever it is, nikto's quite excited.
it's not often that the solution to your team is right there, in the palm of your hands.
.
in the next practice, nikto pretends that nothing's changed in the routine. the boys are still doing their stretches, with garrick leading them to it, and the assistant coaches are gearing up for diverse set of trainings. keller, for one, already's got the backup goalie with him while they set up drills for him and price.
the practice goes on, with nikto amping up the intensity just so the reward falls sweeter than it is, before winding them down for the natural break. nikto gets off the ice while the team makes a game out of gathering up the pucks to dump them back into the bin, and he watches, almost with anticipation, as time trickles.
then, the inevitable-
you, bounding in from the locker rooms at nikto's message, and the team's attention easily being snagged.
it started with johnny, elbowing riley, then it was everyone turning to watch as you walk towards him you don't even give the others a second glance, laser-focused only on him. on nikto.
look at you. a room full of men who wants you and all you care about is him.
nikto feels his gums throb with something like pride, and he doesn't even notice that he's began posturing too - back straightened as he rolls his shoulders and stands up straight.
"baby," you breathe out, giggly almost, as you fold yourself into his arms.
"kotenok," nikto rumbles out, pulling you impossibly closer. sure, half of it is for show, but the stronger half is thrumming with obsession. with possessiveness and desire. because the team doesn't need to chirp for nikto to know how perfect you are.
the team's gone all quiet and laughably docile, and nikto would tease. would chirp back just to see all of them grumble at the realization that nikto can bring you around all they want, it won't change the fact that you don't even care about them.
but you're already in his arms and they're looking on with vivid envy that nikto dismisses the idea and calls for the end of practice.
that doesn't stop the boys from flirting with you, apparently - johnny catches up with you on his way back to the lockers, chatting up about your dogs like they're not nikto's dogs too. simon's brooding, quiet as he shadows you and mactavish on the way back, and only pipes up when you turn to include him in, like you're truly his weakness.
price is more subtle - stealing your attention as he stands beside nikto, like he is truly challenging his coach for his coach's girlfriend. it sort of works too because you're vibrating from where you stand as you ask him about his recent shutout - against washington - all starry-eyed like the fan you are.
but garrick. nikto thinks he might just be the worst because it's him who has you acting all shy, your eyes flicking up to kyle's face before ducking down as you busy yourself with the zipper of your jacket like you couldn't handle prolonged eye contact. it's kyle who speaks to you with such quiet timbre that you're visibly quaking when he leaned forward to whisper directly into your ear after another stuttered, "huh?"
it's kyle who walks away first too, and the one that had you tripping on your feet as you subconsciously followed even when nikto's already waiting by the car.
damn it. maybe he'll make garrick do suicides tomorrow.
#suns#hockey au#NONCANON THOUGH!#nikto x reader#141 x reader#not proofread bc my minds angry and pulsing but the idea is so brrr

Adopt a Jock Part One / Previous Part / Part 10.1 (you are here)
A03
Chapter 10 is complete and will be fully uploaded to A03 this weekend when I can get around holiday shenanigans. It's very long so tumblr gets it in parts. I'm sure I could make a Thanksgiving food pun there if I tried hard enough but alas I am not Steve nor Dustin.
Apparently, if you stumbled into supernatural shit, you were rewarded with a mountain of legal paperwork so absurdly thick that Gareth was almost positive it included a government-approved execution clause for anyone reckless enough to speak about things better left unsaid
So, here they were: barely a week past the lab incident, eating lunch, keeping their heads down, like their entire world hadn’t been turned upside down.
(He couldn’t even appreciate the pun.)
“She keeps looking over here.” Tiff’s pen tapped out a furious rhythm, her gaze fixed on one Nancy Wheeler, “And she’s been following us.”
“Well according to Steve she knows about--you know.” Gareth said, keeping things vague in hopes it would prevent any visits from men in black suits.
“I’m sure she just wants to talk.” Jeff said with a note of sympathy.
The fucking traitor.
“I’m sure we’re not allowed to talk.” Stewart muttered darkly, pushing his peas around his lunch tray with a fork.
“Only with people who don’t already know.” Grant tried to argue, and that rapidly dissolved into an argument regarding NDA’s and tricky legal language that Gareth tuned out in favor of his new found hobby--doing his level best not to think about anything beyond his lunch and what new D&D character he wanted to play.
His last one died in the prior game, and though Eddie had--weirdly and entirely out of character--offered to revive it, Gareth had waived him off.
They needed some normalcy right now, and if that came at the cost of Gareth’s beloved druid meeting her maker, then so be it.
Plus a new character was a great distraction.
(He was set on playing a noble elf known as ‘Gregg from Accounting’, but a second dwarf named Iron the Chef had been tempting…)
“She’s coming!” Tiffany hissed, slamming her pen down.
Mourning the loss of an easy, drama free lunch, Gareth sighed and prepared himself.
“Hi.” Nancy said, announcing her presence with quiet determination, books stacked in her arms and chin raised defiantly.
No one said a word back.
“Jonathan let me know what happened, and I wanted to say that I’m sorry you got pulled into all of this.” She paused, clearly thinking her words over, before adding; “Steve, Jonathan, and I used to practice.”
Nancy stopped again, this time blatantly waiting for one of them to say something.
She got more stares in return.
“Given that things sound a little open ended, and that there were injuries, I thought it might be good to start up again. Steve suggested if we do, you all should come too.” She finished, bulldozing right through her own awkwardness.
“Practice what?” Grant asked, confused and trying to cover it with suspicion.
“Defensive measures.” Nancy answered.
Seeing their unchanged blank stares, she gathered her books in one arm, formed a finger gun with her free hand, and mimed shooting in such a deadpan manner that Gareth almost burst into disbelieving laughter.
While he was haunted by visions of Nancy Wheeler holding a gun, Tiff loudly picked her pen back up, making enough noise that all eyes went to her.
“You beat my score on Mrs. Click’s practice test by two points.”
“Uh--yes?” Nancy said, blinking at her.
Tiff's eyes narrowed. “I’m kicking your ass on the final.”
Another dumbfounded blink.
“Okay?”
“Tiff’s coping, as are we--no…defensive measures necessary.” Jeff said, in a desperate bid to soothe things over, “We appreciate the offer.”
She nodded, seemingly placated by his response. “Actually, where is Steve? I wanted to talk to him too.” Nancy asked, changing topics with ease. “I haven’t seen him all day.”
“Ah-ha.” Tiff muttered under her breath, as if catching out what Nancy really wanted.
Stewart kicked her ankle.
“He’s with Eddie.” Grant said, covering the sound of their resulting scuffle.
“He’s been spending a lot of time with Eddie lately.” Nancy noted, in that same neutral tone the Feds spoke in. All fake nice without giving a single thing away.
It was a little terrifying.
“We all spend a lot of time with each other.” Tiffany shot back, hackles very much raised and not bothering to hide it. “We’re friends. That’s what friends do.”
“Man, we are vicious today!”
“She’s really sore about that grade.” Stewart covered, offering a sympathetic pat to Tiffany’s shoulder (who looked an awful lot like she was going to bite his hand for it).
Did Nancy Wheeler even know about the weird academic rivalry Tiff had with her? Gareth took one look at Tiff’s gritted teeth, and thought better of it.
“I wouldn't be if I was able to properly finish that essay,” Tiff motioned to the now hopelessly crumpled paper underneath her pen, “ instead of rushing it because I had to pull someone out of a lab--”
“Nancy’s right.” Jeff cut in, in another desperate attempt to distract them all from eating each other. “I haven't seen much of Steve or Eddie today.”
He turned expectantly to his right. “Gary?”
Gareth frowned back at him.
“Why would I know where they are?”
“Oh,” Stewart said, far too innocently. “You haven’t realized you’re their assigned zookeeper?”
Wadding up his napkin was second nature. So was launching it at his friend's head, who expertly (and unfortunately) dodged.
“So you’re saying you don’t know?” Grant asked, a smile creeping across his face.
Gareth opened his jacket, fishing around for a moment as if he was searching for something, before pulling his hand back to show off his extended middle finger.
Pity he actually had the answer.
“They’re in the drama room. Steve sweettalked Mr. Barns into letting them set up early for Hellfire’s game.” He grumbled, ruining the entire effect.
“See?” Stewart said smugly.
With deliberate slowness, Gareth raised up his other middle finger before waving them both in a circle.
“Fuck you, fuck you--”
“Not in your lifetime.” Tiffany answered, to multiple chortles.
“Don’t bother them, Wheeler.” Gareth continued, ignoring the assholes he called friends to turn back to Nancy. “They’re setting up for the Hellfire’s last game of the year and Ed’s is a little…obsessive about it.”
As in he was known to be a complete and utter terror in the days leading up to his grand finales but Gareth wasn’t telling her that.
These games were a big deal for Hellfire as a whole. Precious things they looked forward to and the finale game was something they often worked several months, if not a solid year, to reach.
This year's game had more riding on it than any one prior. Hellfire’s shared sanity, for example, and a shining piece of normality they all found themselves desperately needing.
(Plus the problem of Eddie flunking again--and not telling anyone.
See--Eddie had been touchy the first time he hadn’t graduated and even with the appearance of monsters and government lackeys, Gareth expected this year to be even worse--but the Steve of it all added a rather explosive emotional element.
“You still have most of Hellfire.” Gareth had pointed out, when he’d hitched a ride home a few days prior and found the paper declaring Eddie’s super senior year a lost cause. “You know you’ll still have them after they graduate too, right?”
“Because they’re going to be looking forward to their old pal Eddie while in college, sure.” Had been the clipped response.
“They will.” Gareth said, with a level of assurance he hoped Eddie could feel. “And if that’s the concern, then you’ll definitely still have Steve.”
Who hadn’t gotten into college, and openly admitted to refusing to try now that monsters were back.
“I guess.” Eddie had said, looking like a deflated party balloon.
In typical Munson fashion, he seemed to realize he was giving away more “real feelings” than he’d intended too, and changed the subject with an energy that Gareth knew was fake.
He hadn’t called him out on it though, and equally, he had not called out the mania Eddie had slowly been succumbing to since that fateful day. He’d get over it--Gareth knew he’d get over it--if they could just make it past the point where Eddie’s own brain informed him the world was ending to prove it.)
All of them deserved a break, and a place to put aside all the stupid shit and simply have a good time, and heading off Steve’s nosey ex-girlfriend before she could cause problems would go a long way to help.
“I’m sure they can spare two minutes.” Nancy was saying, mid creation of the exact problem Gareth was hoping to avoid.
“No--uh,” He flailed about for a reason she couldn’t, and the longer she frowned at him the more his brain simply vanished all forms of higher thought. “Don’t?”
Nancy’s expression soured, mouth twisting in a line Gareth very much did not like. “I’m sure they--”
“Tell us what other things you practice. Besides, you know. The pews.” He interrupted frantically.
Under the table his foot struck out, and though he had no idea who he’d struck he hoped whoever it was understood what exactly he was trying to do.
“The pews?” Nancy echoed, after a painfully long moment.
“You know? Pews!” Gareth mimed a gun, and then made “pew” noises while firing it.
Besides him, Jeff gave a very Harrington-like sigh.
(He’d been doing that a lot lately, Gareth made a mental note to mock him for it.)
“You cannot tell me you guys only practice with guns.” Tiffany huffed. She had not been the kicked party, but thankfully, hadn’t needed the nudge to catch on. “What happens if you run out of bullets?”
Nancy gave her an odd, almost calculating look.
“We use whatever else we have on hand.” She said flatly.
Which just boded so fucking well for the rest of this conversation (and Gareth’s life, given he was uncomfortably aware of the things that went bump in the night.)
“Well, give us an example.” Tiff continued, and given the now increasingly concerned looks that the rest of Hellfire was darting between her and Nancy, Gareth knew the rest of his idiots hadn’t caught on.
On a piece of paper he scrawled--and the underlined twice, for good measure;
‘Go. Find. Byers!’
--and then chucked it at Grant’s head. Who thankfully opened it, even if he made a face while doing so, before proceeding to pass the note around as Tiff and Nancy traded increasingly pointed words about weapons training.
“When you’re in a situation, you use whatever you have on hand. I would assume you knew this, given what I heard happened the other day.”
“Yes, but wouldn’t it make more sense to train and carry with backup weapons rather than just hoping you find something on the way? What if the--what if we’d been in the woods?”
Gareth watched the note travel from person to person, until it was dropped back in front of him.
‘You go find him.’ Someone had scrawled, followed by multitudes of doodles, two of which featured army-hat wearing dicks driving tanks.
Then and there, he decided that perhaps his friends truly did deserve death should a similar situation arise in the future.
Useless. They were all useless.
“You’re welcome to make a suggestion, Tiffany.”
“I will. I’ll make a list even.”
“Good.” Nancy smiled, with all her teeth.
“Fine.” Tiff returned, looking half feral.
Was this some type of weird mating ritual between academic types? God, they were scary.
‘Well, that definitely won’t come back to bite us in the ass.’ Gareth thought wryly as Nancy stormed off in the opposite direction of the drama room, tapping the note against the table. He glanced at the rest of the group, who appeared to be attempting to tempt Tiff out of her snit by way of asking her what dramatic bullshit she thought Eddie would be pulling in the finale.
If nothing else, he decided, they’d prevented ruining Eddie’s day--and possibly, their entire night.
Nothing, save more fucking monsters or equally evil government lackeys could manage that.
(Pity that Gareth had forgotten the third most powerful force on the planet when it came to wrecking plans.
Middle schoolers.)
xXx
The day had dragged but they'd made it, and Eddie in turn, had made that wait worth their while.
The lights in the drama room were low.
The entire table had been set up with such care and drama that Gareth almost couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Goblets lined both sides, each filled with a dark red liquid Gareth knew damn well could not be wine.
Candles--real ones, had been lit, casting shadows across Eddie’s face as he lounged in his throne, a master in their element.
A castle, meticulously crafted out of wooden sticks and painted a dark, forbidding gray towered in front of Eddie down at the end, with the layout of the insides crawling down the table atop carefully gridded paper.
Monstrous figurines stood in a row off to the side, like little soldiers, planted right in front of a plain, if not comically large, cardboard box.
It was elaborate, meticulous, and half the items had clearly been stolen from Steve’s house, if not outright decorated by the man’s own hand.
“Welcome, my friends.” Eddie purred, breaking the spell that had fallen over Hellfire.
“Oh my God.” Grant breathed, jostling Gareth’s shoulder as he pushed inside.
“Dude, you outdid yourself!” Stewart added, voice awed as he took it all in.
“He had help.” Steve confirmed, materializing at Eddie’s shoulder. He leaned forward, adjusting something in front of Eddie, ignoring the immediate angry swat and hissed warnings about “ruining the moment, Steven!”
“Glad to see you putting your mom’s party planning skills to good use.” Jeff teased, but no one missed the way he ran a hand down the table, staring giddily at the spread.
Steve gave him a shrug, but even in the dim light Gareth could see how pleased he looked.
It was magical, and Gareth felt something come alive in his chest that he’d privately thought the manticore had killed.
A childish sort of excitement, bubbling up as he realized he was about to have a damn fine time.
This, of course, is when the actual children came in.
“I made a timeline.” Dustin announced, shouldering his way in between Jeff and Grant to slam down a massive piece of paper.
“Oh my God where did you come from!?” Stewart yelped, started as more and more children suddenly swarmed Hellfire’s table.
“The middle school is literally next door. We walked.” Max rolled her eyes as she took a seat next to Tiffany. “What idiot let you guys light candles in here?”
El fell in right next to her, stealing what was clearly intended to be Grant’s chair.
Who looked like he’s about to say something about it until he caught sight of her delighted face.
Gareth would have laughed at the obvious way Grant’s shoulders slumped as he accepted his fate, if his own chair hadn’t just been usurped by Michael Wheeler.
“A timeline?” Steve asked, before Eddie could surge to his feet and kick the brats out.
(They all watched him jerk anyway, like he’d intended to do just that and barely caught himself.)
“Uh, everything?” Dustin scoffed, waving a beat up folder in the air. “We took it all the way back to when we first met El.”
Next to him, Lucas had stepped up to the table, running a hand down it in much the same way Jeff had. “We decided it might help us figure out where the manticore came from.” He said absently.
A riot of emotion exploded over Steve’s face, made all the funnier by the fact that it was entirely at odds with the setup he’d so lovingly created.
“I’m sorry, did we not hear the Chief of Police? He’s investigating this, our involvement is over.” Steve made a slashing motion with his hand, as if that would hold them all off.
(Gareth, who once watched all of these children fight each other over an arcade score for three consecutive days, knew it was a lost cause.)
Dustin made yet another scoffing sound in return.
Given how often he seemed to make them, Gareth wondered if he had problems with a sore throat.
“I thought we all widely agreed Hop’s investigation skills are terrible.”
“Hello?” Stewart said irritably. “We were about to get started?”
Eddie swung himself into a sitting position and made like he was going to stand up, likely to pounce on the opening Stewart had just given.
Pity Steve once again, beat him there.
“Yes, but he’s not investigating, is he? We,” Hellfire’s jock made another motion, this one a circular twirl of the hand. Gareth was starting to wonder if the gestures are directly linked to his stress level. “already did that part. He can now do the part he’s good at, which is fixing it.”
“He’s not good at fixing it, look at what happened with the demodogs!”
It was at this moment Gareth made his fatal mistake. In hindsight, he should have known better than to ask out loud,
“Okay, can someone please explain what the hell’s a demodog?”
Several protests, groans, and pencils are flung his way for it.
(“Do you know how often that word has been thrown around!?” He’d defend much, much later. “You guys keep saying it but not what they are!”
“If you stopped eavesdropping all the time maybe you wouldn’t be wondering about such things.” Eddie had responded snidely.
“It’s not my fault you keep talking about this shit when I’m right there you asshat--”)
“What, you didn’t think there were actually feral dogs in Hawkins did you?” One of the kids asks incredulously, like he can’t possibly believe anyone is so stupid as to buy into it.
“They were like the manticore, but small and more, well, doggish.” Dustin dismissed, this time with a Harrington flavored hand waive of his own. “Ask Steve, he was there.”
Gareth turned to do just that, D&D campaign be damned (He would not apologize for wanting to know what else might be out to kill them all even if the finale was technically on, sue him) to find Steve had slipped right into mother hen mode.
“No.” He spat, charging forward as he flapped his arms around, like the children are a flock of birds he can scare away. “You are not sucking anyone into this, and we are not getting involved! You heard Hop!”
Mike rolled his eyes. “Don’t be a coward, Steve.”
“I’m not a coward, I’m someone who doesn’t need another near death experience! There’s not a reward if you have five in a row, dickheads.”
Seething and not bothering to hide it, Eddie picked up the massive gold goblet in front of him and took an obnoxiously loud sip out of it.
“I’m also going to remind you that Henderson here,” Steve stopped behind Dustin to rattle his, “is going to camp in a few days? I believe the rest of you also have similar engagements.”
It was Mike’s turn to scoff.
“Lucas is only in summer school until 3 and camp doesn’t start for another two weeks. We have plenty of time!”
“It’s not summer school,” Lucas protested, eyes darting to Max and back as if she wasn’t aware the kid was a nerd. “It’s a creative writing program--”
“Yeah, well, the rest of us are busy.” Steve fired back. “So any theories you have, you can take and shove right up your ass.”
“Why is it always the ass with you Steve? Do you have an ass fixation?”
Gareth watched as Eddie immediately choked on the dyed Mountain Dew he had been chugging down, hacking so hard tears welled in his eyes.
Jeff shared a pained look with Gareth over the table as Grant pounded him on the back.
“I do not have an ass fixation, Henderson--”
“Okay.” Tiffany clapped her hands together, the sound ringing out throughout the drama room.
“Here’s the deal. Summer break is two days away. Steve is right--most of us here are working, if not preparing to go to college. No one needs to go snooping around where we aren’t wanted, and we definitely do not need anymore injuries. Kapeesh?”
Henderson immediately turned on her. “So we’re just gonna trust the guys who fucking started all this!?”
“Given they also have better ways of handling it, yes. We are. Hopper told them about Stewarts goo, they sent some suits in to kill the manticore, and thanks to El’s heads up we caught things ahead of time for once. Can’t we just enjoy that?” Steve was beyond worked up now, repeatedly running his hands through his hair, only to fix it, pick at it, and then repeat the process again. “For fucks sake Dustin, Eddie just stopped limping!”
“I don’t think it’s over.” Mike muttered angrily, pushing a finger against Tiffany’s water bottle.
She grabbed it before it toppled over, glaring at him.
“El, do you feel anything?” Steve spoke like he was invoking a god and not an undersocialized twelve year old.
“No.” She admitted, after a long almost uncomfortable pause. “I do not.”
Steve pointed at her victoriously. “There you go!”
“But--”
“No more buts!” Steve shrieked, before seemingly to realize he’d done so. He coughed, and then said; “I thought you dorks would be storming in here trying to get Eddie to DM for you, not harassing us about the Upside Down.”
“You guys are playing D&D?” Lucas asked, as if he hadn’t been salivating over the spread for the last five minutes.
“I really like your cleric.” Will said quietly to Jeff, having leaned over to look at his character sheet at some point during the argument.
“Will, aren’t you a Dungeon Boss?” Steve asked, to the horror of those around him. “Why don’t you go sit by Eddie, I’m sure you’d enjoy seeing how he does stuff.”
A wince rippled through the members of Hellfire.
There was simply no way Eddie Munson, a man known to be possessive at best, would ever allow any of them to even glance at his notebook, let alone his entire spread laid bare behind his screen.
Those were his secrets--the result of too many late nights and an easy contributor to his failing high school yet again--and this was the grand finale.
Steve sitting next to Eddie had been miraculous enough--and that was with Eddie actively demanding he sit there, in a vain attempt to drag Steve out of his issues.
Fearing the worst, Gareth snuck a glance at their glorious--and notoriously ridiculous--leader.
Eddie sucked on his teeth, the noise painfully loud in the abrupt silence, eyes on Byers the Younger before they drifted back to Steve.
Who clearly had no idea he’d put his foot in it.
Tiff looked ready to break a pencil, eyes glaring a hole in Eddie’s head as if daring him to disappoint the group's golden retriever while Grant, Jeff and Stewart had all magically found something else to look at.
Gareth himself hunkered down, waiting to see how this would play out.
One more painful, pulsing second and then Eddie seemed to come to a decision, rolling out his hand and gesturing Will closer.
“Indeed Baby Byers,” He dropped into one of his many DM voices, something deep but alluring. “come closer and learn from the master of masters. Perhaps you’ll find something here to take back to your own campaigns. Something truly…terrible.”
He waggled his eyebrows at Dustin as Will’s Party groaned, though none of them put up much of a fuss once they saw the sheer smile that overtook Will’s face.
With the unique combination of embarrassment and pride, Will took his place next to Eddie.
Steve beamed in the corner, clearly pleased with himself and it was not lost on Gareth (or anyone else in the know) that Eddie preened only after sneaking an obvious look at Steve’s face.
“God he has it bad.” Stewart muttered, only to hiss when Jeff not so subtly jabbed him with a pen.
Gareth just shook his head, and gave Eddie a grin that said he would absolutely be getting shit for this later.
“Stevie, be a dear and fetch more chairs would you?” Eddie drawled, as he settled back into his throne, baby Byers happily checking out the items he had laid out behind his DM screen.
Which Gareth supposed was Steve’s punishment for inviting the kids along, but then, Eddie may as well have been bossing the jock around all day regardless given the look of the place.
(He’d certainly taken advantage of doing just that while his leg had been healing.)
That was their mess though, and Gareth happily put all thoughts of monsters, murder, men in black and every other awful M word aside to inside pull out his luckiest D20 die.
“Hellfire,” Eddie boomed as the all finally settled, “It's time to show the kiddies how it's done. Let’s roll!”
“And Dustin bitches at me for my puns.” Steve loudly complained as he came back into the room with chairs.
Eddie shushed him again.

Thank-you sentences for Roosterwhale behind the cut; “we are so pleased with this match". (( chrono || non-chrono ))
“. . . what,” the scientist says, and Kara ignores him to revel in the perfect synchronicity that Kon and Match outright throw themselves at each other with. That's just very satisfying, as a beta. Especially as the beta who led this alpha to this omega.
As the beta who led her only sem-zahm packmate to the kyn-tul who’s been waiting so long for him to come and let him be a good bitch for him.
Kon and Match crash together and Match immediately tries to rip Kon’s throat out, which Kara considers very restrained of him under the circumstances, and Kon smashes him into the floor to keep from getting his throat ripped out, and Match hisses viciously and backhands him across the jaw. Kon snarls back down at him and Match claws at his face and Kon bares all his teeth, and Match’s breath–hitches, very noticeably.
And then he tries to bite Kon’s throat out, which is also very restrained of him under the circumstances, Kara thinks.
“About goddamn time,” the scientist mutters. “Subject Match will deal with this. You three, get the–”
“Uh, sir . . .” one of the guards interrupts him warily, the other guards looking somewhere between confused and alarmed. Kara assumes it has something to do with them actually being combat-trained and therefore capable of noticing things like, oh, body language and intent and specifically how Kon and Match are fighting each other, and the equally specific ways they very much aren’t fighting each other.
Like–very, very specifically, on both grounds.
“Don't interrupt me!” the scientist snaps at the guard, who grimaces. “Call the collections team and tell Lab 4 to prep for a new sample set. Vivisection or necropsy, whichever we get.”
Didn't even say “autopsy”, Kara reflects idly. Well, she already knew the asshole deserved this.
He deserves much worse than this, in fact, for keeping Match all locked up down here in a cell instead of letting him have what a kyn-tul on their cycle deserves.
And for keeping her packmate’s kyn-tul from him, he deserves even worse.
She is not in any way whatsoever going to even pity the Agenda, no.
Kon and Match are wrestling more than anything else right now–well, as much as “if Kon fucks up Match will murder him” can pass for “wrestling”, anyway–and Kara remains impressed with Match’s restraint. She cannot imagine what her father would’ve done if her mother had left him alone in . . . how many heats must Match’ve had by now, if he presented about when Kon did?
Kara does a few conversions to Earthling calendars and some quick math in her head.
. . . actually, she needs something stronger than “good bitch” to go with here, because any Kryptonian-raised omega would’ve gelded Kon for putting them through this.
The El packs owes Match such nice nesting materials. And his pick of places for nesting in, too, up to and including all their own personal homes and bedrooms and laps. And also literally every single thing he ever wants when he’s in heat or pre-heat for the entire rest of his natural-born life.
She should probably text Kal and her other self about collecting some of those things after they get out of here, she thinks. Once Match has gotten fucked into a more talkative mood, anyway, and can tell her what said things are.
Though the nesting materials she is definitely already making plans for.
Match slams Kon into the floor hard enough to crater it–hard enough to shake the room–and Kon struggles underneath him clumsily, clearly overwhelmed and trying to keep control of things he doesn't actually need to be in control of right now. Kara obviously understands why, given he's never done this before, but . . .
“K-Kara, I . . .” Kon pants from where he’s pinned and struggling underneath Match, his eyes flared wide and pupils almost as dilated as they can get. He keeps most of the alpha out of his voice, which is honestly fairly impressive too. “I feel . . . I wanna . . .”
“Don’t pay attention to her!” Match hisses down at him as he grabs his throat and starts to choke him, leaning all his weight and an obvious amount of muscle into it, and Kon grabs onto his wrists with a strangled wheeze. “I’m right here!”
“I told you, Kon, you have my permission,” Kara reminds him patiently. Again, she understands why he's trying to keep a rein on his alpha, because he's never gotten to not keep a rein on his alpha, but that's the literal opposite of what the current situation calls for. “Don't you know what your Match needs from you? Don't you know how bad your Match wants you to give him what he needs from you?”
Kon makes another strangled sound, and Match looks away from him just long enough to glare at her, baring his omega teeth in an alpha sneer–
Baring his neck, and leaving it unprotected.
He doesn’t know what he's doing, doing that.
But Kon's alpha does.
Kon’s eyes snap into full eclipses and he lunges up and throws his arms around Match as he buries his teeth in his exposed throat with a full-on alpha snarl, and Match–well, Match doesn’t have irises to eclipse, but his eyes still flare the exact same way Kon’s did even as his body reflexively stiffens–as whatever these stupid humans taught him makes his body reflexively stiffen–and then, as its actually honest reaction, just melts completely down into Kon’s teeth.
Because of course it does. Because Match is a good bitch who Kara can very clearly smell just slicked up enough to soak his hole over that bite, and is willing to let Kon prove that he’s a good alpha.
Kon drags Match down and rolls them over and slams the other to the floor flat on his back, and Match’s expression goes all dreamy and heat-drunk and he tries to smash Kon’s temple in with a fist. Kon digs his teeth in harder and catches Match’s wrists, and Match makes a breathy, omega-soft sound and then brings a knee up into his gut, and they both shove down and claw at and cling to each other.
Kara watches contentedly as Kon and Match thrash and struggle and crack the floor underneath themselves, all hisses and snarls and gasped-out little grunts and moans. They’re a little clumsy about it, but it’s their first time together, and she still can’t help finding it sort of adorable how their pheromones are all tangled up and smell like–well, a candy she’ll never taste again and a roaring fire, but also the quiet intimacy of a human bonfire off alone in the dark and the kind of sticky-soft-melty marshmallows that humans roast on them.
. . . or toast, maybe? Maybe it’s toast, she doesn’t really know. Mostly she just burned hers to charcoal, the times Kal got her to try it.
It’s a nice scent, though. Kara likes the thought of it all intermingled with and absorbed into their pack scent: the tangled mess of a compatible alpha and omega, all mixed up in each other ‘til even their own packmates won’t be able to tell the difference between their scents half the time. It might break her heart a little every now and then, but so does everything that’s ever mattered to her, from her parents to Krypton to Kal to their pack to finding out this was even a option.
For now, though, it’s just a submission bite and not actually a mating one–obviously, because Kon isn’t the kind of bastard who’d ever force something like that–so for now their scents are still separate enough to recognize as separate scents. Kon’s teeth are still in Match’s throat, and he and Match are still struggling on the floor, and all tangled up like this they smell warm and melty and burningly horny, which is both a good sign for their compatibility and also zero percent surprising at this point. Especially since their “struggling” is increasingly less and less about the “struggle” part and more and more about getting their hands all over each others’ bodies and dragging and grinding them both together.
And maybe about one other thing, Kara can’t help but think when she notices Kon fist a hand in the symbol on the chest of Match’s suit and shred it off him. She understands the temptation, with some other pack’s crest sitting there.
Also now Match is showing significantly more skin, which seems like a very Kon kind of solution to the problem but is also an undeniably effective one.
Kon pulls back just enough from Match’s throat to snarl down at him, his fistful of torn emblem held balled against the other’s chest, and Match stares up at him with eyes that can’t eclipse, that already look like moons anyway, and then–very obviously, and very deliberately–tips his head back against the floor and pushes his chest up against Kon’s clenched fist, fully displaying–and exposing–his throat and pectorals to him in the process.
Rao, that’s the kind of submission display most omegas wouldn’t even do in porn, Kara thinks, barely resisting the urge to cover the nearest guard’s eyes for propriety’s sake.
Well–Match doesn’t know any different, does he. He just knows what his omega is telling him it wants.
And Kon, presumably, knows what his alpha wants, but is just holding himself still and frozen above him; above that exposed offering of a posture from an omega who probably doesn’t even really understand why he’s doing it or what it really means; from a compatible omega who very obviously differentiated to be specifically compatible with him.
“Aw, I knew you liked each other,” Kara hums approvingly, mostly to confuse and stress out the Agenda’s idiot lackeys even more than they already are. They deserve a lot worse, frankly. And also, Kon and Match are stuttered to a stop and do both need and deserve to hear some encouragement. “The House of El is very pleased to see it.”
“What the hell are you talking about, you alien freak?!” the scientist demands, visibly sweating from nervous tension and struggling to regain his composure. Kara doesn’t bother looking at him, but bares her teeth sweetly all the same.
“Come on, Kon, give your Match what he needs,” she coaxes lightly, and Kon starts panting harder again, his own chest just shy of outright heaving. “He’s so angry all the time, isn’t he? So unsatisfied. Doesn’t he need someone to treat him right?”
“I really . . .” Kon chokes, a shudder going all the way down his spine and to his respective grips on Match’s wrists. “I really . . . Kara.”
“Doesn’t he smell so good, Kon?” she asks, just a little more coaxing in her tone–and her pheromones, obviously. “Isn’t it just how you’ve been waiting for him to smell?”
Kon makes a strangled sound, and she hears Match’s teeth grind together. They’re both still stuck in their standstill, neither taking their eyes off each other or moving to either accept that offering or retract it.
So Match doesn’t want to stop, and Kon doesn’t know how to start, and again: they don’t know how this goes, but Kara does.
“Relax, Kon,” she says, dropping her voice and pheromones both into soothing notes. Betas soothing anxious or overwhelmed or overemotional alphas and omegas through their cycles is as natural as cycles themselves. “Go with it. Your body just wants you to sympathy-cycle for your Match. Wants to put you in condition to take care of your Match. So let yourself go. Give him what he needs. It's alright.”
“Subject Match!” the scientist snaps sharply, his voice just barely avoiding cracking. “Kill Superboy! Kill him now!”
“Little late for that idea, don’t you think?” asks Kara, who is very much aware that Kon now smells like a Rao-damned forest fire to Kryptonian senses.

Hello! I think I'm doing this right but if not, I'm so sorry:
What do you think Silco would do if he found out, years later/during Act 2, that a fling he had when he was alot younger and dumber, resulted in him having a Son/Gender neutral child living in Piltover?
(how this is discovered can be completely up to you)
Would the angst of them being a Piltovian(?) citizen permanently leave their relationship undefined or would he push away his hatred of Piltover and try and meet them?
Better yet, how would Jinx react to this?
Just a bit of potential angst to spice things up I guess haha.
Thank you!
Thank you for this amazing prompt, anon! It's one of my favorite ones I've ever received! Why does writing angst soothe me? It doesn't make sense.

Silco receives a curious letter from a Piltie boy claiming to be his son. Spurred by lingering bitterness and unresolved anger, Silco visits Topside for answers and to finally speak his mind to the woman who left him so many years ago.
Dear Mr. Silco,
I'm not exactly sure how even to begin this letter, so I’ll start with the part that is most relevant to you:
I am your son.
I know, I didn't believe it at first either. But if you keep reading, I can tell you how that happened.
My mother was a brilliant woman, born and raised here in Piltover. She was the top of her class and an artist. My grandparents tell me that, in her university days, she had a bit of a rebellious streak. She ran away from home to live in the Undercity. Over the course of a summer there, she met a man. And fell in love.
You probably know more about how the rest of this story goes than me.
After that summer, my mom had a change of heart. She returned home with a new bundle in tow: me. And while she never told me, I assume she left the Undercity in order to raise me here.
But you probably don’t care about all that. You just want to know why I’m writing to you.
Well, first off: I'm not asking for money. My mom (and grandparents) provided for me and I have a comfortable life here in Piltover.
I don't want anything from you. Not really. I wrote because… well… My mother died recently. It's actually how I found out about you. My birth was a closely guarded secret and it was only when I was cleaning her stuff out after her death that I learned. She had a box of things from her time with you: a diary, some photographs, a bracelet. I thought you might want them.
I don’t know what your relationship with my mother was like or how it ended, but this seemed like something she would want me to do. If I crossed a line, I’m sorry.
I've attached her obituary. It has her final resting place. If you want to collect the box, I've left it on her grave. If you haven’t taken it by next week, I’ll assume you want nothing to do with it. And that’s okay, too.
Sincerely,
M.
P.S I also included a photo for proof. You can hold onto it. I already made myself a copy.
When finally Silco lifts his eyes from the letter, it's with slightly parted lips and inward curling eyebrows. Visions of memories long ago flick across his mind’s eye unbidden, released like water from a dam.
Setting the letter down, he retrieves the other effects in the pneumatic tube. Fingers tremble as they pull out a small photograph. It's worn around the edges and the ink has faded significantly, but the image is unmistakable: it's him in his early twenties, standing next to the woman who left him.
He remembers that summer clearly, the memories vivid and the feelings so strong it could power a Hexgate. He remembers the late nights talking, the sound of her laugh, the way she was always sketching in her notebook. He remembers the first time they kissed, followed quickly by the first time they made love.
Silco’s lips press into a thin line, something bitter bubbling within him.
He remembers his desperation when he ran through the Lanes, searching for her. He remembers how he couldn’t sleep for days, worried something had happened. That someone had taken her. Or worse. He remembers crying so hard that he could feel it in his teeth, his cheekbones feeling as if someone was pressing their thumbs to them with the aim of crushing them. He remembers drinking.
And drinking.
And drinking.
Drinking to cope.
Drinking to forget.
Drinking to wash down the bitter taste of the knowledge that he had let someone get so close to him so quickly, only for them to rip his heart out and slash it to pieces. And to add insult to injury—
My mother was a brilliant woman, born and raised here in Piltover.
He stares at that word again.
Piltover
Hand shaking violently, he picks up the pneumatic tube and hurls it across the room. It breaks on impact as it hits the office door, glass shards flying through the air.
Of course.
Who else could chew him up and spit him out? Who else but a Piltie? His home—his life—nothing more than a tourist attraction to her, a vacation away from her cushy, privileged life.
How could he have been so blind?
How could he have been so stupid?
He can feel his heart rate rising, chest heaving as his breathing grows unsteady. Good eye fluttering closed, he puts one hand out, signaling himself to stop.
Slow down.
Breathe.
He takes one long inhale through his nose, holding it for a moment before blowing it out his mouth through pursed lips. When he opens his eyes, his jaw is set, decision made.
He snatches the letter, photo, and newspaper clipping off the desk, shoves them into his coat pocket, and walks out the door.
As far as final resting places go, this certainly is one of the more luxurious ones. Even in death, Topsiders can’t help but preen and self-aggrandize, if not with their bodies, their tombs. Each gravestone seems to be attempting to outdo the next, growing larger and more gaudy in size as Silco walks down the rows of graves. Subconsciously, his nostrils flare and his mouth twitches into a snarl.
When he finds her name among the dead, he’s surprised to see not a tombstone but rather a park bench. Constructed out of blue pearl granite and polished to a brilliant shine, her name, date of birth, and date of death are carved into the back. The soil around the bench looks freshly turned over and the carved letters barely have any dust or dirt accumulated in them. Studying the dates, it would seem M did not lie; she had died two weeks ago.
And there—sitting on one end of the bench, waiting for him—is the box.
His chin lifts as his mismatched eyes scan his surroundings, looking over his shoulder, his ears alert and listening for any signs of other visitors. Certain no one is nearby or within eavesdropping distance, he turns his attention back to the bench.
He could just take the box and go. There’s no need for him to linger here. But as he stands staring at her name—carved with such finality into that unmoving stone—he can’t bring himself to leave.
And yet, it’s odd, addressing a bench. On his way over, he had envisioned himself spitting on a tombstone with great satisfaction. But now, as he’s faced with something as welcoming as a bench in a beautifully maintained cemetery, he feels stuck. Any anger that had been boiling in his abdomen before has simmered down, upended by the unexpected appearance of his former lover’s grave.
Reaching into his pocket, he retrieves the photograph. After propping it up on the bench, he addresses the woman who lies six feet underground.
“You…” He can’t even bring himself to say her name, both hands balled into fists in his coat pockets. “You’ve been here this entire time.”
Both eyes roll as he realizes the error of his statement.
“Not here, but in Piltover.” He brings one hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose, good eye squeezed shut. “I searched for you for weeks. I didn’t sleep. I didn’t eat. I thought someone had taken you. I thought you had—”
Died.
Well.
It’s accurate now, isn’t it?
“Typical Topsider,” he spits out, one hand gesturing as if throwing something away, like the way she had thrown him away, “You come to my home, promising a bright and brilliant future, but all you do is leave destruction in your wake.”
He steps back, pulls his head back, and spits onto the freshly dug soil.
“Disgusting,” he snarls. “And to think, I had lov—”
He pauses, unable to finish the word.
He was young. He was ignorant. That was not love he felt for her. Nor adoration. That was infatuation; merely a young man’s naive idea of what love was.
What that was—it was Not Love.
Silco pulls his fingers through his hair, collecting himself.
“Why?” His hand curls into a fist again. His tone is bitter, full of anger, growing in volume. “I don’t care why you left; I know exactly why you left.”
As he continues to speak, his concerns about being overheard are overcome by the thundering emotions swelling inside him, churning and bubbling after years of dormancy. “You didn’t want your son to grow up to be a street urchin like his sumprat father. No… all I want to know is…”
His next words are bellowed out, the sound coming from deep within his lungs, each word punctuated with a pregnant pause, as if he means to put his entire body into every syllable.
“Why. Didn’t. You. Tell. Me?”
There’s a flurry of wings as nearby birds take flight, spooked by the sudden noise.
Silco’s good eye flutters closed again and he takes long, deep breaths, recentering himself. His hand comes up, forefinger pressing to his sternum. There’s a desperation to his voice now, a yearning. Mourning something he didn’t even know he had until a few hours ago.
“I had a right to know.” He opens his good eye, staring at the photograph. Staring at her. “He is my son. He is my blood. How could you have kept him from me for so many years?”
He gathers himself, eyes casting to the ground.
He had so much more he wanted to say. Years of anguish, torment. But now that he’s here, he’s forgotten them all.
He feels empty.
Finally, he slumps down on the bench, next to the box. It remains untouched beside him. He sits with his shoulders sagging forward, both elbows resting on his knees, hands clasped together as his head hangs low.
It’s quiet in the cemetery.
He turns his face toward the photograph, addressing the woman in it with a whisper of a voice. “All I wanted was for you to be okay. For you to live a good life.” He lifts his head toward the great, open sky of the City of Progress, free from smoke and fissure gasses and ash. “And I suppose I got what I wanted.”
He hangs his head once more, speaking to the ground at his feet.
“You just did it without me.”
A stiff breeze blows through, tugging at his coat. He makes no move to bundle himself up further, letting the chill air surround him, seeping into his bones.
He sits.
And remembers.
After a few moments, he hears movement. Ears prickling and head whipping up, he spots a boy walking between some nearby tombstones. He looks to be a teenager, fifteen—maybe sixteen—years of age. The boy pauses at one of the graves, looking at it silently, his hands shoved into his pockets. After a moment, his eyes lift and meet Silco’s.
Silco meets his gaze, unblinking. The boy doesn’t seem at all fazed by Silco’s corrupted eye, giving him a small, polite nod. Silco nods in return before tearing his eyes away.
Ocean green and volcanic orange eyes pause on the small wooden box on the bench.
Mahogany. Expertly crafted. Like the bench, it’s beautiful in its simplicity. Unbidden, Silco’s throat bobs as he reaches for the box and gingerly places it on his lap.
After taking a deep breath, he lifts the lid.
The first thing he sees is a bracelet. Black in color and made of thin strips of leather with small circular charms along the strings, it’s plain and modest. The surface of the leather looks almost brittle, worn around its edges from frequent use.
Underneath, there’s a stack of photos. Lifting them, he recognizes the first as one he had taken. The late woman stands laughing beside The Last Drop’s jukebox, Felicia grinning widely next to her. Vander can be seen in the corner, caught mid-sentence as he speaks with whom Silco can only assume is Benzo. Setting down that photo, Silco’s eyebrows lift when he sees the next one.
He doesn’t remember this photo being taken at all, which is curious given the fact he’s the one and only subject of the photo. Silco—sporting long hair tied back in a low bun—sits at the bar, pouring over his notebook. His right arm is wrapped in strips of off-white fabric and in his hand is a pencil, which hovers over the page, posed to write.
Silco remembers this night.
It was the night Felicia told him and Vander she was pregnant with Violet. It was the night everything changed.
Funny, how the night he learns of one pregnancy happens to also be the night his lover leaves him because of hers.
He hums, continuing to study the photograph.
He had forgotten what he looked like at that age, so used to seeing his marred reflection in the mirror. So used to covering half of his face with foundation just to regain some semblance of normalcy.
Silco’s about to look through the rest of the box when he sees movement out of his periphery. Quickly, he shuts the box and looks up to see the boy from before, standing in front of him.
“Sorry,” he says, voice quiet. “I didn’t mean to startle you.”
“You didn’t,” Silco replies simply. His good eyebrow lifts in silent question.
“Is it okay if…” The boy gestures to the empty spot on the bench.
Silco stands, hand offering the seat, the box neatly tucked under his arm.
“Oh, you didn’t have to leave,” the boy says, scooting over to leave some room. “I just wanted to sit for a little bit.”
Silco eyes him for a moment, then, against his better judgement, sits back down. The mahogany box feels heavy in his lap. The boy’s eyes look at it briefly before looking out into the rest of the cemetery.
The pair sit in silence, the only sound the rustle of the leaves as the wind rushes through the nearby trees. Silco’s hand covers the box, fingers idly smoothing over the carving of a rose on the lid.
He doesn’t know why he does it, compelled by a nagging curiosity, but Silco breaks the silence.
“Do you have family here?”
The boy nods. “My grandpa.”
Silco hums.
Silence falls between them again.
“Do you?” the boy asks, eyes lifting to meet Silco’s.
Silco’s lips press together, the tip of his chipped tooth catching the inside of his mouth a little.
“In a sense.”
The boy sighs. “At least it’s a pretty nice view.”
Silco follows his gaze.
“It is.”
“Well, except for that.”
The boy points to a large tombstone made of porcelain with gold accents all along its edges. Every inch of it seems to be covered in some sort of design, painted in blue. But the patterns come across as less elegant and more like visual noise; the eye given nowhere to rest, the senses overwhelmed by all the complicated shapes and textures.
Laughing, the boy makes a retching noise. “It’s so ugly.”
Silco’s lips pull into a smirk, head tilting.
“There’s no accounting for taste.”
“Yup.”
The boy abruptly gets to his feet, seemingly satisfied. Turning to Silco, he puts his hand out in offering.
“I’m Marlow, by the way.”
“Marlow.” Silco takes his hand and shakes it. “Nice to meet you.”
The boy nods, seemingly out of words. After offering a small smile, he turns on his heel, heading for the gates.
Silco continues to sit on the bench, thumb rubbing absentmindedly on the box’s carvings. After a moment, his eyes widen and he reaches into his coat pocket for the letter, eyes darting down to the bottom.
M.
He looks up to find the boy has disappeared. He lets a short chuckle out of his nose as he shakes his head, rising to his feet.
After one final look at his ex-lover’s grave, he starts his trek back home.
He has a feeling this won’t be the last time he visits this cemetery.
And it won’t be the last he’s seen of that boy.

Vox continued to fiddle with his Voxtek phone, but he kept pressing the wrong buttons- not accustomed to his new fingers, and his screen not intended for flesh. He readjusted the phone in his hand and muttered some incomplete complaints under his breath about it. Working on putting the new service through his grade of vpn so they wouldn’t be tracked by the stolen SIM card. He still wanted the service. Specifically the gps if they were to need it.
“Look at the menu then.. I’m sure the bimbo is on her way.” He finally finished up with his settings and put his phone away in his brown jackets lapel pocket. Then took a second to look down at his outfit. Eugh he needed a wardrobe change. He hadn’t thought to adjust it before hand but he hated what the turtleneck was reminiscent of.
Vox’s attention went back to Alastor, smiling cheeky again as he was indirectly praised.
As Alastor decided on an item, the lady came back. Being silent now. Likely Vox’s intention.
She put the check down and Vox pointed to the sweet treat Alastor wanted on the menu instead of picking it up.
“Include this. To go.”
The waitress started to speak but Vox pushed the check back toward her curtly.
“Now. Now. Both. Shoo.” His voice was suddenly very soft and rushed- placating in the most demeaning way. Definitely to jumpstart some urgency, which it did as he waved her off.
Then Alastor’s last statement seemed to settle more. His crystal blue eyes darted back to the others. Trying to gauge more context for ‘needing it later’. Which he didn’t find.
His face got just the slightest bit pink. Suddenly seeming to have the thought that Alastor had already regarding their abrupt and sometimes violent trysts.
Wait this isn’t hell.
The flush on Vox’s pale face was so easy to see, and it got more prominent as he definitely tracked the thought further about how not being in hell would translate in their couplings. Then his eyes widened and his eyes darted down toward his own crotch. Then back up to Alastor.
“I only have one.” He mouthed without much voice, leaning over the table some.
Vox hummed in acknowledgment to Alastor’s compliment.. it was noted.. and he secretly did appreciate it. But his attention was currently on sizing up this waiter lady. Debating on whether or not he could bully her into letting him smoke in the restaurant. It was a stupid rule anyway.
Luckily he did decide against it, his gaze leaving her slowly. Until she spoke again about something about the coffee.
Vox shooed his hand at her insistently
“Go-go-away-“ he muttered after her as she hurried away.
He did immediately dig into the steak. Going very quiet as he ate, having not eaten since probably late afternoon yesterday. It wasn’t outstanding. And it was seasoned mediocre. But- it was a solid chunk of meat. And that satisfied Vox’s carnivorous stomach. The hangry nearly melted off of him as he finished it.
Then poured himself the coffee and immediately made a face at it- putting it right back in the mug from his mouth. His arm twitched like he had a mind to just launch the mug of poorly made coffee right back toward the kitchen. But he didn’t.
Instead as she passed he put his hand out to stop her and then handed her the whole pot of coffee.
“I’m not paying for coffee with pulp.”
She started to offer some sort of reparation to which Vox immediately interrupted with,
“Oh my god leave.”
And she did. Quickly.
“How’s your food.” He asked genuinely. Already acting less hangry.

lucky pt 3 - theo nott x reader
Theo doesn’t seem to care about you, and you can only lie to yourself that it doesn’t bother you for so long
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
a/n - the final part! so happy to finally write a happy ending :’) wasn’t planning on writing this until my finals were over but um here we are 🙈
tropes/warnings - tw smoking, a lil slapstick comedy ft the other slytherin boys, slight platonic hurt/comfort, angst, soft ‘smut’ (quite mild idt it warrants an 18+ tag)
word count - 3.4k
Two can play a game.
A week had passed since you submitted your Potions project, and after that one night of Theo staying up to help you, things went back to going from bad to worse. What were once paltry tiffs had now disappeared altogether. Theo attended and left lessons as if you didn’t exist. And you supposed you didn’t. At least, not to him.
Ivy worried over you, bless her. She’d noticed how listless and distracted you’d gotten, how much more prone you were to staying holed up in your room, how exhausted you seemed by the most mundane tasks. But this was something even she couldn’t help with. No one could help, you decided mournfully, resting your head against your dorm’s cool window pane. So here you were, staring out the window at 6.30 am on a Monday morning with irritated and aching eyes after a restless night of tossing and turning.
That was when you decided that the only thing there was to be done in a situation like this was to do what you did best - going head-to-head with Theodore Nott. He wasn’t the only one who could play at being emotionally avoidant, and it would be a cold day in hell before you let Theodore Nott best you in anything, including this.
And ignore him you did. You didn’t know or care if he noticed, but soon your already limited interactions became highly unabsorbing and apathetic. You barely acknowledged him in your shared classes. You matched every careless toss of his head with one of your own. As little as Theo cared, you could care even less.
Finals came and went. The morning after your last paper Ivy came barging into your room, demanding you come for an end-of-semester gathering by the Great Lake the next day. No amount of begging or burying your head in your pillow seemed to deter her. She was determined to see you there even if she had to drag you out herself, the recluse that you had become. She finally left after you very unsportingly relented and unsuccessfully tossed a book at her head.
You were already regretting being worn down by the next morning when you were deciding what to wear. Was Theo going to be there? Not that it mattered. You weren't about to pick an outfit around a guy who may or may not be present.
You met Ivy and Katie near the castle entrance and once you started walking down to the lake, you started feeling better about your decision. The weather was surprisingly cooperative and it was perfect picnic weather, if a little windy. It was a little early, only shortly after breakfast, and the refreshments were still being set up. From the few that had already arrived, it seemed to be a rather intimate gathering of mostly familiar faces. If you were especially lucky, Theodore Nott might not make an appearance at all.
You watched a group of Slytherin boys flail and struggle to set up a folding picnic table and put a sheet over it. Enzo Berkshire had flopped onto the table to stop the sheet from flying off while the table groaned underneath his weight. Draco Malfoy was crossly telling him off and trying to get him to stand while Mattheo Riddle stood a little to the side, still frowning over the table's instructions. Draco had now moved onto threats when there was a terrible creaking sound and the table collapsed under Enzo.
"I was just about to say," Matheo started offhandedly, while Enzo moaned pitifully, "I don't think we put the table together right."
"I told you we should have waited for Theo."
Speak of the devil.
“Ladies,” Theo drawled from behind, in his appealingly lazy accent. You turned to see Theodore in a relaxed button-down folded at the elbow, wearing a simple but likely designer pair of black sunglasses, holding a red solo cup. You instinctively glanced at his tanned forearms before snapping your gaze back to his face. Did he notice? It was hard to tell with the sunglasses.
“Hi, Theo,” Ivy said awkwardly when you stubbornly refused to respond. “What's that you got there?”
"Punch. Enzo had me taste test it."
"Oh. Is it good?"
He gave a wry smile. You wanted to roll your eyes. You had no patience to tolerate his irritating posh affectations.
"A little strong for my taste, but it'll do."
"Have you seen Ivan?"
He waved his hand carelessly. “He’s…around.” He turned, peering in the distance. “Right. There he is, by the steps. He’s bringing the drinks.”
“I’ll go help him!” Before you could reel Ivy back in and threaten her to stay with you, she was already halfway down the path, heading straight for her boyfriend. You scowled, your impassive mask shattering. You turned back to see Theo grinning at you with his stupidly mysterious sunglasses and you shot him a dirty look.
“Nice weather we’re having, hm?”
You schooled your features and shrugged noncommittally. The silence stretched unbearably between the two of you. Theo vaguely gestured to the boys with his cup.
“I should help them with the table."
You stayed tight-lipped, refusing to give in to the sense of camaraderie he seemed to be trying to foster with you. After all, you weren't friends. He made sure of that.
As he set his cup down and started looking over the instructions with Mattheo, Ivy returned, drinks and Ivan in tow.
“Punch?”
You raised your eyebrows. Even from a distance, the bowl reeked of booze. Still, you accepted a cup, downing it even as your eyes watered. You pulled a face.
“Merlin, that’s awful. Pour me another.”
You ended up sitting in a cluster of lawn chairs around a picnic blanket with Ivy, Katie and some other girls in your year. You were all giddily tipsy and in very silly moods, gossiping and swapping terrible first date stories.
The drunker and drunker you got, the harder it was to pull your eyes away from Theo. After all, as your inhibitions dissolved, what was there to stop you from glaring a hole into his skull?
Not that he noticed. He was sitting some distance away with his own friends, examining the bottom of his red Solo cup disinterestedly. The other Slytherin boys were absorbed in a spirited game of Exploding Snap. In the unassuming midday sun creeping up on them, he was a refreshing sight, sleek and cool in ways mere mortals could only dream of wishing for.
You scoffed under your breath. What, were his childhood friends too boring for him? Was that it? Who the hell did he think he was, anyway? You had half a mind to strip naked and run into the lake. Maybe that would finally be captivating enough for the oh-so-hard-to-impress Theodore Nott.
How many other girls did he help write essays for late into the night, letting them doze, holding their hand? You shook yourself. He never held your hand. He helped you with your project, brought you breakfast, and that was it. Still, your gaze stayed fixed on the back of your hand. Whatever possessed you to think he held your hand?
The sky had gotten a little cloudy. Theo pulled off his sunglasses, blinking, and cast his eyes around, looking for a place to put them. Finally, he settled on hooking them on the open collar of his shirt and looked rather pleased with himself. It was almost endearing.
Your gut told you to avert your gaze, but you didn't, and the next second his gaze was on you. For the first time in weeks, his eyes met yours, intense and unforgiving. You told yourself it was just his gaunt complexion and bruise-like eyebags, but that didn’t stop your throat from seizing with some inexplicable want. Even when he moved away to rejoin his friends, your skin tingled; your body positively thrummed with it. Any hope of playing at sanity was out the window at this point. No, you just had to accept that the two of you would always be unfinished business.
But that was it - he wasn’t playing at this like you were. This was all a pretence for you; the unaffected stares, the nonchalant nods, the afterthought smiles. This was all just you pretending you weren’t watching his every move. Pretending your attention wouldn’t stay fixed on him in a room full of burning bodies.
But he wasn’t pretending. Not for one second.
All of a sudden, you felt queasy. You were going to be sick.
"Y/N?" Ivy was saying, looking concerned as you unsteadily got to your feet. You could feel the back of your neck prickling with Theo still watching you.
"I'm - I'm fine," you slurred, fanning yourself weakly. "Stay - I'm okay. Just...s'hot. Need to -"
You put your cup down somewhere, stumbling back to the castle as fast as you could, your head spinning as the ground wobbled dangerously under you. You weren't sure how but you somehow made it to your dorm, flung open the bathroom door and reached the toilet just as your stomach started emptying its contents.
You vaguely registered that you had never been this drunk - it felt like you were slipping in and out of consciousness. You were only distantly aware of a familiar pair of hands holding your hair back, rubbing soothing circles on your back as you heaved. It was a cathartic kind of release, a purging of all the toxic anxiety that had been festering inside of you. And just like that, a dam broke. You started crying, sobbing like the world was ending, slumped against your best friend.
“Oh, Y/N…”
“I don’t understand,” you choked out, leaning your forehead against the tiled bathroom wall. “Why doesn’t he like me anymore? Why does he h-hate me?”
Ivy delicately smoothed some of your unruly hair down. “He doesn’t hate you, honey.”
“I’m not a k-kid, Ivy," you hiccuped. "You don’t have to lie to protect my feelings.”
Ivy hugged you close as you sniffled. I’m going to kill that asshole if Ivan doesn’t beat me to it.”
“No,” you said in a shaky voice, gingerly sitting up. “Promise me you won’t tell Ivan.”
“Y/N - “
“They’re friends! I don’t want to spoil that for him.”
“Trust me, if he knew what Theo was doing, he wouldn’t be feeling all that friendly.”
“Don’t, Ivy,” you pleaded. “This is just…it’s just between us. I’m fine, I swear.”
Ivy looked highly unconvinced. You let out a frustrated sigh.
“Look, at least give me a week to work through this on my own, alright? Then you can sic your boyfriend on Nott.”
“You’ve already had your week. Weeks, in fact.”
“Ivy.”
She pursed her lips. “Fine.”
You felt a lot more sober after throwing up. But you still weren't feeling up to returning to the party, so once you finally managed to shake Ivy off, you wandered the deserted halls of Hogwarts. Just like that one evening lifetimes ago, when Mattheo had insinuated Theo might have a thing for you in the library, you ended up at the Astronomy Tower.
It was peaceful. You could see why Theo liked to come up here to think. You looked up as you heard a scuffling sound from behind one of the pillars, near one of the stone arch windowsills. You walked over to find Theo sitting there, smoking, his long legs barely fitting across the length of the window. He didn't expect to see you either, if the way the cigarette was dangling from his lips was any indication.
“Put that out.”
It was the first thing you had said to him in weeks. You felt almost as surprised as he looked. He started, as if he had forgotten about the cigarette, and took another puff.
“I said,” you started again, half-heartedly raising your voice, “put that out.”
It was weak and unsurprisingly ineffective. If Theo picked up on what it truly was, a plea for normalcy, he didn’t let on.
Your already thin patience snapped. You stalked over, stealing the cigarette from his lax fingers. What you weren't expecting was Theo's fingers closing around your other wrist and firmly pulling you down to press his mouth hard against yours. It was a clumsy mess of teeth and tongues as you ungracefully reached for his arms to steady yourself. His grip lessened when he got the inkling you weren't about to pull away and sock him in the jaw. His hands drifted to your waist as the two of you fumbled for a more proper kiss. You could taste the lingering salt of the cigarette and your senses felt overwhelmed by the distinct feel of Theodore Nott.
“Tesoro -“ he wheezed, twisting away from where your hand had dropped to his bicep, the smouldering cigarette having singed through his shirt.
“Shit, sorry. How do you -?”
Theo plucked the cigarette from your hand and dropped it on the floor, grinding it with the heel of his shoe. He looked up to where you were still hovering above him before pulling you down into his lap by your hips. He grabbed your wrists, placing your hands on his shoulders, and you had to bite back a smile over how adorably particular he was.
“Telling me where to place my hands? And I thought I was the bossy one.”
Theo quirked an eyebrow. "Maybe I'm just sick of waiting." He tipped his head back against the rough stone wall. "And...wanting."
You smoothed a thumb across his collarbone, not missing the way he shivered under your touch. “So what do you want, Nott?”
He tipped you forward, kissing you much more properly this time. You didn't bother pulling much away as you broke apart, whispering with your faces inches away.
“We're actually doing this.”
“Seems so.”
He cupped your face, swiping a thumb under your eyes as his expression flickered.
“Were you…crying?”
You sniffed, dragging his hand off your face, and looking away. "Just - allergies."
Theo blinked, watching your face with a stunned (and slightly dumb) expression as if you hadn't said anything.
“But you never cry.”
You gave a bitter smile. “Congratulations, Nott. You’re officially the first person to ever reduce me to tears.” You desperately hoped he would drop the subject. Just talking about it was enough to make you want to start sobbing again.
"Did someone say something to you? I swear I - it's not because of me, is it?"
Your face crumpling was the only confirmation he needed. “It was like you - I don’t know. Like you hated me, or something.”
Theo captured your hands in his own where they had slid down to his chest. “I….hate you?”
“Or something. Probably the something.”
“But - why? How? If anything, I’d say you hated me.”
Your lips parted as your brow furrowed. “What gave you that idea?”
“What gave me the - I don’t know, all the scowling? The glaring? The snide remarks? The bodily harm?”
You flushed at the memory of the Potions storeroom incident. You could kind of see his point. “That was one time.”
“You owe me new pants, by the way. New pants and a new di-“
You muffled his rant with a kiss and instantly felt him relax beneath you, the tension and annoyance draining from his limbs as he moulded your body to fit more perfectly against his. So eager, so insistent, so different from the past couple of weeks.
“I don’t know," you started once you pulled away. "This felt worse than hate. It felt like…like you couldn’t even be bothered to hate me." You swallowed hard, eyes fixed on where you were fidgeting with the edge of his shirt's collar. "As if that was how little you thought of me.”
"Mia cara," he sighed, almost dejectedly. "Small is the last thing I think of you." He ran a hand through his hair frustratedly, searching for the right words.
“I’m not good at expressing…fondness.”
“No. You don’t say.”
He wet his lips. You could see the smile he was holding back.
“I’m not good at being honest or direct. Everything - my mind, it’s a mess, it’s always about what I want, and how to get what I want, I never - I never meant to make you feel that way."
Maybe it was still all part of some elaborate scam. But sitting there with the rough stone arch digging into your sensitive skin, the distant scent of holding Theo's face in your hands like he was moonlight, you believed him. You didn't even have to try. You just did.
“I’m not used to playing the part of the fool, bella. But when I see you smile, or read, or fiddle with your hair…" He reached out to free the lock of hair you were nervously tugging on, "...I never feel more foolish.”
"I don't think I've ever hated you either, for the record," you said, smoothing out his shirt where you had crumpled it in your fists. "I might have thought I did, but..." you trailed off, looking into his mesmerisingly blue eyes. No, you decided softly, you never could hate the boy.
"I never thought anything could come of us. You were - you are - so brilliant. You're on the road to brilliant things. I was only going to get in the way. And...I don't think I could live with myself if I did." He glanced up and, seeing the crestfallen look on your face, hastily amended his statement.
"That, and you had no patience for pretty boys.”
You scoffed half-heartedly. “I have no patience for you, either.”
Theo grinned, shifting you up his lap, as if you could never be close enough to him. He looked so carefree you couldn’t hold back a small smile of your own. “You keep me so humble.”
“I try.”
The two of you stayed like that for a while, tracing burning expanses of skin, staring at each other like you could never get your fill. You’d occasionally press soft kisses down his neck and jaw while his hands would drift up your ribcage or down your thighs. Both of you moved at an unhurried pace, because now you had all the time in the world to have and hold each other.
“It’s getting late,” you murmured, hours later, now tucked into Theo’s side as you lightly traced shapes on his chest. It was pleasantly warm and given the late hour, you could feel your eyelids growing heavier. When he didn't respond, you lifted your head.
Beneath you, Theo breathed deeply and evenly, looking half-asleep. You rolled your eyes and gave him a hard jab in the ribs.
“Hey. Nott.”
Theo grunted, stirring, swatting your hand away. You grinned to yourself - annoying Theo would never lose its appeal. Eyes still closed, his hand haphazardly searched for you to once again pull you against him. You ignored his efforts, deliberately unhelpful.
“You need to pick another name, y’know. This whole last-name business isn’t going to fly as my girlfriend.”
You felt yourself unreasonably perk up over his words. “Your girlfriend? Me?”
He cracked an eye open. “I thought the exclusivity thing was obvious. You're a serial monogamist.”
“Yeah, but you’re not.”
Theo groaned, too tired to keep up with you. He rolled you onto your back and propped himself up with a forearm. You giggled softly, flustered by the heat in his gaze.
“Then I guess you’re lucky I like kissing you the best, amore.”
He dropped his head, and you got the distinct impression you could never tire of the feel of his hands and lips on you.
“What were you saying before?” Theo inquired, while his hands continued their distracting exploration under your clothes.
“It’s late.”
“Right.”
“You have Charms right after breakfast. We should,” your breath hitched, “um, go to bed.”
Theo grumbled something in the crook of your neck, sending the most delicious vibrations down your spine.
"Fine," you sighed, encircling your arms around his neck. "Five more minutes."
He barely made it in time for Charms the next morning.
