I guess you are Bengali. There is literally a prosecution happening in India right now against poor Bengalis, but it also heavily depends on their religion or caste & class location, and it's so depressing because nobody cares about them, not even the self-proclaimed progressives. But then I remember it's not new in our country.for years, tribals,women, Dalits, minorities and poor people have been treated as 2nd-class citizens, and nobody gives a fuck, not even the so-called progressive people. There is literally a slur for Bengali people (also for Bangladeshi), "kanglu", like "paajeets" for Indian. Sorry for vining, but I'm drunk and depressed right now by seeing the condition of our nation and how it's getting bad day by day.

Yep I am but honestly there is no family i know of that has lived in West Bengal for quite some time so ig im kind of out of touch because i had no idea about this. i get feeling hopeless about it, especially for me when i learned about the state of India prior to colonization and how it seems the hatred the British sowed still runs rampant to this day

regarding your earlier ask i do want to say a lot of their romanticization is something ive actually noticed firsthand and honestly it feels like a coping mechanism for the toxicity they have to deal with (especially the girls). idk it does trouble me though how normalized and now even romanticized it’s become

As an Indian, I want to know. Is it true that a large proportion of the Indian diaspora, particularly the older and 1st generation, is Islamophobic, casteist, opposed to DEI due to racial approval (although benefiting from it), and opposed to immigration, particularly of underprivileged Mexicans?

My friend who works in the United States told me this, and she also said she chose to work in a place where Indians (mostly first-generation) are few, despite the low pay, because Indian-dominated workplaces are extremely toxic, sexist and they even discriminate and show microaggression if they learn you are from a different Indian state, religion, or caste.

im not sure if by “first generation” you mean the first generation of Indians that are born in America (like me) or if you mean the first generation of Indians that immigrated to America (like my parents), but i assume you mean the latter

either way i think that these outdated discriminatory attitudes are much much more common in those around my parents age simply due to the fact that, well, they’re from a different generation. pretty much all the desis ive met my age are extremely progressive and liberal like the rest of gen z in general

but for Indians around my parents age, yes ive met some that are definitely like that, a good amount are even pro Trump. i could definitely understand why your friend wouldn’t want to be in an indian-dominated workplace—while ive personally never experienced discrimination based on what state of India, religion, “caste” my family comes from, i could see it happening to other Indians for sure. the sexism is something ive seen myself , and honestly i think sexism and patriarchal structures are still painfully rampant throughout desi communities to the point that it’s almost expected atp

i want to say though that these beliefs that they are carrying over are not only outdated, but…kind of out of place? like they’re bringing politics from India into America and it’s like the enmeshing of political climates from two different countries which leads to some confusing and messy areas tbh. the majority of Indians around my age here are staunchly against those attitudes, and i think a part of it is that most of us are born in America and so American politics is what takes precedence so we kind of view things from that lens

this should all be taken with a grain of salt though because im from a very liberal area, so maybe there are more of those types than what i know? then of course there’s also the fact that everything im saying is kind of from a limited perspective bc due to the circumstances ive grown up in ive never really been part of the indian communities here, so im sure there’s more things that i dont even know about

omg hi and thank you! hmm i wish i had a good answer to this but i've honestly felt my titles are not that good since they are literally the very last thing i add (usually i'll give fics a title like right before i post them LMAO)... a lot of times the titles will be a reference to something in the story or just something that inspired the fic in the first place, for ex. You Are Also Like Me was inspired by the NASTYONA song with the exact same title lol

31. How do you stay motivated?

i don't. LMAOO like seriously i think abt giving up writing at least once a day 😭 the only reason i do it is i need something to get the (sukuna) brainworms out but also in general i think it's good for me to practice on conceptualizing things using words since i'm naturally bad (and have always been bad) at putting things into words .... so i guess that's the closest i get to trying to stay motivated?

i have never done a collab but YES i totally would, honestly earlier this year i really really wanted to do something like that but at the same time i think my ideas are kind of odd so i feel like it'd be hard to find people on that same wavelength? hahah..... the only reason im not currently thinking abt it is because i have a lot on my plate as of now 😞

honestly every single day i literally wish i was the kind of person that could lock in on a SINGLE project and just see that through from beginning to end before starting another.... but unfortunately at any given point i am working on at least three different works (i think i have four in rotation rn?)

hmmm i think Currit in Sanguine Nostra — if not for no other reason, then the fact that it’s quite literally the only fic with more than one part that i have actually completed LMAO. but also because there were some themes and takes on vampires that i personally haven’t seen before and i think i was able to execute those? oh and also because it’s the only fic ive written where I actually shed some tears while writing...

18. How do you decide what POV to write in?

more often than not the most intuitive POV would be reader’s pov, mostly because i want the actual reader to be able to feel what the character in the story is going through for a more immersive experience. i will, on the occasion, write from Sukuna’s POV if there is information from his perspective that the actual reader should know but can’t be explicitly revealed in the story for whatever reason (does this make any sense?? lol)

25. Is there a scene you are dreading writing? (Want to share what it is?)

there’s this wip ive been working on with like body horror elements and some action and stuff but i recently scrapped most of it bc i decided i wanted to take it a different direction? anyways there’s going to be a major kind of fight scene between reader and sukuna, and if there is one thing I literally cannot do for shit it is writing, reading, or even being able to comprehend action/fights (ironically i still like shonen anime's and stuff cuz its cool to see them even if i don't understand what's going on in real time...)

36. Are/were you surprised by your top fic? (hits, kudos, comments, anything)

i'm going to speak in terms of tumblr stats bc this is where most of my fics are, but the short answer is no. my top fic here is To Be Human and it's a story with fluff, crack, smutty stuff, but also angst, esp in regards to the ending. i think people on this app like reading things that hurt them emotionally LMAO but also in general i think the ending to a story is what can make it kind of stand out in your memory and i tried to give a (somewhat) memorable ending by making it a bit sudden and also tragic. i think part of why that ending hit a bit harder (at least while writing) is bc it's kind of realistic in the way death is often very...mundane? idk if that's the word... but the fact is people die in pretty unordinary ways for the most part in the real world which so that element of realism probably resonated more with people
