I experimented with overlapping words/phrases that show up in all three lines - this was a lot of fun! Took me a few days but it was worth it. Might be one of my favorite pieces so far.

guy whos normal about the doctor who soundtracks: omg did you hear that short melody that just played for 2 seconds? yeah its part of one of my favourite themes in the soundtrack. theres also another alternate version that plays in another scene also for about 20 seconds and is unreleased but also it sounded so good i wish there was a full version. wait what was that omg i think i heard another leitmotif YESSS YESS YAYYYYY guys i love music this is awesome

Thinking about how noninterference is said to be the most important law on gallifrey and yet they inevitably interfere, they are inevitably one side of a war that threatens the universe itself, how it will inevitably need to be destroyed to save all other life, how it will eventually come back and start the whole cycle over again

Also tbh I thought that the last ep of Echoes of eternity takes place before Narvin’s meeting with Leela in WR1 but I’ve seen peeps thinking it’s further down the timeline 🤔 Is it because of “Time War will end soon?”

finally someone who gets it! andred is a dick but he was literally dead from the very beginning he's a corpse walking his days are numbered and all because he chose death from his first breath!!!

YES EXACTLY there's a lot to be said about andred's actions and behaviour but if you put aside his being a dick for a minute there's a fascinating character study there!! a walking identity crisis! what does it even do to you to have your core memories intact but to have your unformed newly-born personality completely overwritten by the personality of a dead man? the man you just killed?? to choose to do that to yourself for not only self preservation but to further the agenda that got you here in the first place? and then once he's found out, he has to let torvald go and try to figure out who he is now, andred ii (or whatever), as if that's even possible. as if he isn't half a dead man forever now

obsessed with the idea of the doctor and the master standing together in opposition to gallifrey post-end of time. less in it being the reality of the situation, and more in it being what the master perceives it to be in the immediate aftermath of being. well. told he was going to be disposed of. the combination of that rejection with the doctor choosing him, the way that sets them up with a common enemy. but where that enemy for the master becomes gallifrey in the abstract with the council as the face of it, the doctor never sees it that way, never thinks of it as the two of them against their own world. the doctor, crucially, kept count of the children. when he saves gallifrey, it isn’t about the master at all, not to anyone but the master themself. because how are they supposed to take the doctor choosing gallifrey over them as anything other than a betrayal.

btw re: my dialogue analysis project, i would absolutely love to look at the new Trek seasons because i'm sure there were BIG shifts as a result of the very serialized shows like Discovery & Picard (vs the episodic Lower Decks/SNW and the somewhat episodic Prodigy) but i can't as there are no good transcripts available. i made transcripts for s1 of Picard (and am still passively working on transcripts for s2 and probably s3 when my joints come back from the war) and i'll likely add those seasons to my analysis but it's just not realistic for me to personally transcribe 14 other seasons of Trek so if anyone knows where to get polished transcripts that list the character name and everything please let me know and i would love to continue the project.

Rewatching my favorite Christmas special and I cannot get over “Psych*tic Potato Dwarf” as an insult from a person who — canonically — according to sources from the same writer — often hears voices that he has trouble distinguishing from reality. It's not just the one line, it's the fact that it’s the title of Strax’s theme! I always wanna call it out 😭, which works out in my The Snowmen-era Eleventh Doctor fanfictions because Strax is a nurse and would know what that word means.

Like, it does unfortunately fit the character because Gallifreyan culture is — canonically — systematically exclusionary of mentally ill people, and the Eleventh Doctor — canonically — hates himself more than anyone in the universe. But the choice?

I'm currently both a full time student and working a full time job, and I've got about $200 to get me through the next eight days until my next paycheck. That's to cover mostly food and gas, and I should be able to just about make that work, but it also means I won't have anything left in case of an emergency.

Okay I did have to look this up, "Important Babylonian Checkmark"—multiple sources say it means important (as the name would imply) but tumblr staff blog says it has something to do with bad customer reviews??
