Ever wonder what happened to cause Strax to become in debt to the Eleventh Doctor, leading to his involvement in the Battle of Demon's Run? Well, The Brilliant Book 2012 gave an answer!

It details that Strax had gotten stuck on a wall, and The Doctor had to save him, which inspired the fairy tale of Humpty Dumpty, with the original release sporting the likenesses of the two, along with the TARDIS, before being removed for future releases.

going through some stuff so I drew strax being happy and cute, he’s such a good comfort character

one of the top ten things I miss about classic who that I wanna see more of in new who is companions from different eras and planets. we got susan the time lord, vicki from the 25th century, jamie from 18th century, victoria from the 19th century, leela from an unnamed planet, romana the time lord, adric from alzarius in an alternate universe, nyssa from traken… I could literally do this all day.

the closest we get to that in new who is jack harkness, madame vastra, jenny, strax, and river song, and none of them are full-time regularly-traveling-in-the-tardis companions, with the exception of jack harkness for a bit in season one. the only full time alien companion in new who is nardole (who is incredibly underrated! and still misses out on a few of the adventures during his season).

the doctor is a time traveller who goes everywhere in the universe, let’s spice this up! give me some alien companions or companions from different times in earth’s history! I wanna see it all!

I love the Doctor, Missy, and Clara but they don't have shit on the Paternoster Gang like yeah they have two immortal fucks and one school teacher BUT do they have a reptilian detective, her cool ass wife who is literally a martial artist, and a grumpy ex-incel alien that they transformed into their bff and butler/nurse??? Im banning myself from watching that scene where Strax hits Clara with the newspaper bc I can’t stop laughing for hours. I watched it like, 10 times now? and I cant stop shaking with laughter it’s so stupid but so hilarious

Clara trusting Strax to send her the newspaper in a normal way and he just… uses his full force to send it flying through the window

Deep breath is such a good episode but that scene is the one that I can think of every time I think about the episode (and I start laughing so much)

ohhhh my god all the things 12 says at the beginning of deep breath, to the other characters, are never about them. theyre all about him trying to establish his new identity

they are not figuring out who strax is here. one of the dwarves they dont name is doc. 12 is grasping for a list of traits connected to "doctor" here: doctor -> doc -> the other dwarves from snow white.

here they're not talking about clara's name. they're talking about their OWN name. names are not the doctor's area, meaning he's never had one before. they don't know if they'll pick one yet, and clara is an option they could potentially choose, an option they haven't ruled out yet. and the "it's a lottery" comment — sound familiar?

Linocut based on the episodes "The Ghost Writers" and "Rulers of Earth" of the Paternoster Gang series, Heritage 4. There are a few details I messed up as this is one of my first linocuts but I'm still proud of it, especially Vastra's face. It came out better than I expected. Aslo, I still have to figure out why ink doesn't transfer well on the left side. I can't wait for Trespassers 4 this month.

While the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz were stuck inside a joke book, Stax decided to stand up; the Fourth Doctor was possibly in attendance and wasn't impressed.

Despite the warm reception from the Time Lord, he did it again, revealing he obliterated the people who laughed at his idea of doing comedy.
