Story concept: an conspiracy theorist who is actually right about everything (A) and is best friends with someone who is in the conspiracy(B).
A: “I’m telling you! The government is too incompetent there needs to be a shadow government who is more competent!”
B: “That ridiculous!” *Throws Shadow government ID into a closet* “I think you are just insane”

Sometimes I’m having a good day but then I remember that racist/homophobic LoTR fans exist and I’m like, “damn
they would be so mad at my idea of an accurate graphic novel adaptation
even if I was 100001% true the Tolkien’s books.”

i love defending pete wentz against the mania haters who call him the music industry's mr krabs bc he sucks in other ways.
#if you seriously think mania as an album was trend chasing then you must love being wrong.#it performed well commercially and all but it also like. bombed critically and with fans enough that#it's like almost a cult classic now lol.#'oh but it's not that old' 'oh but it debuted number one' and barberella was a hit in england. psychic blast.#dubstep was already on its way out of the mainstream as a trend by the time 'young and menace' dropped.#plus calling the reggae/reggaeton influence trend chasing is just incorrect. please listen to black cards.#p2 both are reggae/ska fans and them (especially pete as a bipoc of jamaican descent) taking influence from it isn't any more#trend chasing than them taking influence from rnb or modern pop. also most ppl hating on the genre experimentation here#were just being racist about it. looking at melon tnd for calling it 'white boy reggae.' i'd say he was probably just being ignorant#but also burna boy is right fucking there. directly contributing to the song in question. so that was just racist.#like there are genuine digs i COULD see ppl making about mania's. like. production. but it decidedly wasn't a sellout moment#if fob has one. i'm a pretty firm believer in them having been soldout since they formed but that's me#bc i believe 'selling out' really doesn't have to be a bad thing.#they formed fob to be more 'approachable' and 'softer' than the hardcore scene. and that does mean to the mainstream music world.#which is the definition. SUPPOSEDLY. of selling out: trying to be more popular all of a sudden. making more radio#friendly music all of a sudden. which fob has always done pretty much lbr.#i wouldn't call all (a lot even) of their songs radio pop or radio friendly but like.#did ya'll forget it's called pop punk or.#pete wentz#fall out boy#ALSO. people putting the sole blame on pete bc he 'controls' their image/presence.... there are other guys in the band.#btw. like yes it's his baby but it's theirs too.#it's so funny how ppl love to act like he contributes nothing to fob musically but then when it's time to critique their#genre experimentation the blame tends to fall solely upon pete.#i wonder why that is! /sarcastic.#ppl love to both delegitimize him and villainize him at the same time and it's like. so funny.#bc on one hand there is truth to him sucking and being evil but most ppl go about it all the wrong ways.#he's not even mr krabs he's like. plankton. MAYBE.

Wdym you didn't like my favourite movie? but it's anti racist :( yup it's really progressive. basically it discusses racism by using a non-human stand in for POC. it's really cool cause it points out how we may *look* different but we're the same on the inside. get it? yeah because theyre from a different planet and theyre a completely different species but that doesn't mean we can't get along. what don't you like about that? yeah ALSO the stand ins are like human/animal hybrids it's really hot. why are you blocking me?? i cant fucking believe you would do that. what did i do wrong?

Hi I hope this question makes sense but how would I call out friends use of what might be aave? Im worried about being wrong and it not being aave/sounding like a white knight but I dont want to ignore it.
Hi! And no, you’re fine. If you’re not black, it’s always best to look up terms and listen to what black people say to begin with, that’s the most important thing and if you’ve seen black people talk about a specific term that you might recognize as being aave, simply let your friends know that they shouldn’t really be using such terms in the first place since at this point, viewed as antiblack and micro aggressive because Black people have grown tired of having to talk about this same problem over and over again. Especially when they use such terms directed at Black people. If they continue to use the terms despite being told not to, then you already know what they are.
#I won’t deem everyone who isn’t black a full blown racist for continuing to use aave but it does show that they don’t respect us at all#and that being merely told about how harmful and uncomfortable it is for them to continue on using them while ignoring what black#people are always saying about such topics
well 🗿#meh#anonymous#tkf replies#what can you do#people still make fun of how black peoples talk but as soon as our terms go viral and turned into stupid internet slang all of a sudden#there are white kids and nbs from the suburbs and across the world running them into the ground and misusing them like hell#and in the same manner#they don’t even realize that they just end up embarrassing themselves in the same way old people try to act ‘hip’ and with the times by#using slang#it’s very
#this is literally how it looks to black people whenever nbs and white folks use it#it’s just very uncomfortable#and it’s even worse when you have them explaining terms and adding their own twists and definitions to terms that they never understood to#begin with#it’s rather unsightly lol#makes me cringe#sometimes I don’t even say shit anymore because I’d see mutuals use aave and I’d go ‘um
. đŸ§đŸŸâ€â™€ïž?’ like it’s so
#it always comes back to nbs and whites thinking that the way that black people talk is “’funny’ and when they want to act tough irl or over#the internet they start throwing out all sorts of aave terms like a baby learning it’s first words#the most incomprehensible string of words pulled together in hopes of appearing either ‘cool’ or ‘intimidating’#it’s
đŸ‘ŽđŸŸ#funny thing is#the lot of these people don’t even have black friends or talk to black ppl in rl#a lot of them act like they’re afraid of us for some reason and would pull a 60’s white woman crossing the street so fast but be on the#internet talking about some ‘don’t get caught lackin!’ like oh brother#you get how this sounds right 😭!? it’s ridiculous

You know what a petty bitch like me loves when I'm already having a great month? Walking past the person who fired me from my first job at this same university while I'm walking back from downtown with Florida water in my hand and a red keffiyah tied to my purse. I know why I was fired: I cursed at a staff meeting once, and also I refused to go to a group lunch that was happening at a country club. I am a Black woman and this is the south, so of course I'm not trying to eat at no motherfucking country club. This person happened to be head of HR and was present for my firing. I was asking questions about why I was losing my job even though I got along great with my students and worked hard at outreach and recruitment, and she literally interrupted me to say "[govt name], this isn't a conversation." She then offered me a box so I could clean out my desk.
At the time I'd never felt like less of a person than I did in that moment. She was obviously looking forward to firing me and made no attempt to make the process easier for me. Bitch was literally like "shut up, there's nothing to discuss, let me bring you a box."
And I walked past her today on my way back from the metaphysical shop with my rose lip balm and Florida water. She couldn't even look at me. She saw me and then she started gazing at whatever was in her hands. Not exactly sure why her discomfort delights me so much - actually, I am. It's because she shamelessly delighted in terminating my employment and went out of her way to make me feel "less than" during the process. Clearly I did not have a career in student services ahead of me and I am giddy as I try to choose which classes I'll be taking with my scholarship. All's well that ends well, I suppose.

so yesterday i had someone comment on a post i made on IG telling me how "offended" they were because i'd simply ended my post with the phrase "end the occupation and free palestine." so much of what they said was actually insane racist islamophobic bullshit and they managed to end their comment by calling all muslims terrorists and literally parroted the "they want to kill americans" fucking horseshit.
the person that made this comment was by someone i've literally known since grade school. i'm not close friends with them but i've gotten to know them over the years and never once thought they'd say anything like this. i actually thought it was a bot account for like a full minute.
i'm sadly not surprised at the rhetoric because that's where we are. we're right back to twenty years ago during the post 9/11 / war in iraq / war on terror fervor kicked off. i'm just. i had to fight this shit twenty years ago and here we are all over again, except this time with the added benefit of fucking social media.
if simply saying "free palestine" is so inflammatory for you, then that is your fucking problem to work through.
#this person commented a couple more times after i called them out on their racist remarks#including trying to pull the 'you support baby killers' bullshit#to which i said if you really condemn the murder of children#then by god you'd better be condemning israel who's been murdering them all fucking year. and last year. and every year.#and now this person has sent me multiple DMs trying to backtrack their fucking bullshit#and i haven't even read all of them because i don't have the energy for that. i just don't.#like until you retract your racist bullshit and apologize for it#then i am not giving you the time of day#i don't know you guys#i am not ready for this bullshit all over again; i mean i think all last week i was experiencing some trauma response to it#and by that i mean i dealt with this 20 years ago when i was in high school when i was one of maybe five out of 1500 that actively spoke ou#i don't remember any of my classmates ever saying anything to me; or if they did they certainly backed down if i challenged them on it#it came from the adults in my life – including teachers#when you're 15 years old and literally called a terrorist simply because you stand up and say 'hey this is a bad idea'#and when you are constantly bombarded with commentary about how all middle eastern people and all muslims are terrorists because ... ????#and when you are watching people get harassed and assaulted every single day simply because they *might* be arab because the government ...#... and the media said it was okay to do that#i don't know i guess i never realized it'd affected me until i started seeing the EXACT. SAME. RHETORIC. used *today*#and i'm just a white girl in montana like i can't even fathom the depths of pain this brings on POC who deal with this daily for years#it's just so devastating to see how quickly everyone has jumped on this 'let's kill all the muslims and arabs' train ALL OVER AGAIN#and seeing the horrifying responses by governments to shut down any pro-palestine speech or detain anyone who fucking looks palestinian#like this is just so so so so so so so so so so so so so bad#AND I'M ANGRY AND TIRED AND I NEED TO FUCKING SCREAM AND I'D LIKE TO SCREAM AT BIDEN FOR SUPPORTING GENOCIDE#sorry this is such a personal dump#i just needed to get it out there for my mental health ahahaha man i don't even know#i've already lost two close friends because they were upset that a palestinian on the news didn't condemn hamas in the way they wanted#like they're literally only qualifying palestinians by how they condemn others and not listening to what they're trying to fucking tell you#which is that the occupation and forced displacement of palestinian people is the root cause

I generally curate my dash very well, so I don’t typically see the horrendous reading comprehension that populates much of Tumblr.
But lately I’ve been going through the tag for my newest hyperfixation character, who in canon deals with some very sensitive topics, much like the rest of canon, and god damn if the reading comprehension on this site isn’t complete SHIT
#the main character isn’t always right you’re just reading him that way. he’s a fifteen year old kid you think he’s always right?#you think we’re always supposed to believe what he says is the word of god? really?#no that character arc doesn’t mean what you think it means you fool#it’s not anti/black it’s saying building bridges and working towards rebuilding what’s been lost to oppression is better than losing#yourself to anger and pain and simply destroying everything is bad for yourself and the world#also why are you so cool with murder as long as it’s the ‘right’ people?#and the story humanizing and sympathizing with characters who helped commit genocide isn’t white supremacist or racist or whatever#or condoning genocide for that matter#amazingly most people irl who help commit genocide/other war crimes aren’t usually total monsters they’re regular people#i know you’d probably like to think otherwise but you really genuinely aren’t that different from them#(general you)#not to mention the characters themselves explicitly regret their actions are working towards making reparations to the people they hurt even#at the cost of their own futures (specifically bc they know they deserve punishment)#and in some cases they even hate themselves for what they did#and as for that one person claiming that a certain people group is consistently shown as savage and violent in cankn: where in the fuckery#do you get that? bc i just read the entire fucking manga and did not see that anywhere#literally any time they’re not IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR those people are clearly shown as being kind and peaceful#i will smack you upside the head#marijn vents#fuuuuuUUUUUUUCK#stupid people. stupid people everywhere.

Sometimes healing from religious trauma is looking back and going “HOLY FUCK! YOU SAID WHAT? JESUSSSSS CHRIST! I WAS A CHILD YOU SAID THAT TO, THATS JUST BLATANT HATE! MY GOD” and then hating yourself for ever believing it because you weren’t taught any different and had to on your own time realize that the adults in your life were just casually spouting hate speech with the excuse of religious texts.
And by the way. Feel free to vent in the tags or comments. Just PLEASE, don’t come onto here and try and argue why any points anyone tries to make about things they’ve been through aren’t that bad or should be ignored. Right now this is a safe space for people who have been through religious trauma. Not for people who are happy in their religion and want to convert others.
You have your own spaces. Use them.
#looking at you lds/Mormons#you know. I don’t care about the whole “oh we don’t want to be called mormons that’s disrespectful” thing#cause like. you know what’s more hateful?#ANTISEMITISM#Not even like “well it’s not our fault you interpreted it wrong type either. just blatant antisemitsm and being like and they had it coming#like no????? also like your religion is the fannon/fanfic of all Christian religons#no one treats you seriously you fucking crack ship of a religion and leave#the things that I was just casually taught that when you look back on it with like even the slightest bit of rose colored glasses removed#is just blatant hate speech man.#like no. don’t go around saying the native Americans are Jews who were forsaken by god#that’s racist#and also FULL of antisemitism#the amount of “and remember god is a white man who only loves us and only loves white men” speeches I’ve had is far too many#like I’ve been told to become a mom because god made me that way and it’s disrespectful to want a job cause god made us nurturing unlike men#and like all the anti-gay rhetoric and anti-trans#like if you’re not an old cishet white man from the 50s you are FUCKED in the eyes of their god#and people wonder why I think that the idea that god died years ago is preferable to a god existing#cause like. an all loving god wouldn’t allow for THIS SHIT especially not in the one true religion as some churches believe#tw vent#tw religion#tw homophobia#tw antisemitism#tw transphobia#tw racism#tw lds church and lds church beliefs#tw xenophobia#kinda? but I’m just gonna say yes to be safe#the amount of trigger warnings when I’m not even going IN DEPTH about any of the shit I’ve heard is honestly concerning and talks for itself#tw sexism#religious trauma

Practice being uncomfortable and learn to live with that
#purity culture#like theres tons of things i enjoy that also are problematic or uncomfortable#either bc of the time they were written or the topics#or whatever reason#like learn to put it to the side#ive watched old movies where theres stuff that just. not great#racist shit#and i acknowledge and know wow thats not ok#but i am able to pluck that out and put it to the side#i dont justify it. i dont ignore it. or even pretend it didnt happen (though sometimes i do)#its just like. ok that happened . very much hated it. moving on.#and im able to enjoy a movie overall but i still would warn people#JUST BE UNCOMFORTABLE#find shit that makes you uncomfortable and actually figure out if its harmful to you or if its simply uncomfortable#like theres been movies that have transphobic moments and then theres ones that sre transphobic#i probably will still watch through ones that have moments. i can still see it as a good movie but that doesnt mean the transphobia was good#for example the billboards movie a recent one. used the n word every moment it could#saw it in theaters and didnt know it would happen. it was said by white cops. and i was close to walking out of the movie theater#because it wasnt an uncomfortable I could stand. and i would say it was a mediocre movie#but i could also say it was a good movie in camera angle in story etc if that were the case (its not)#like be fuckint complex#and actuallt figure out what is somethinf you need to speak on and fight against#and what you need to just give opinions and know they are simply opinions#let yourself be uncomfortable until you can figure out what is a real problem and what just squicks you out GOD#learn to block people not harass people too

We all know that claim of "blackwashing" is stupid and is lead by racism (esp since it leads down to "my favs no longer look like me so I'm going to be racist about it", which is a funny take about it since people of color have been dealing with having practically no one looking like them until real recent) but the fact apparently the term was started because of the 2009 live action of atla????

I love my coworkers so much. (For many reasons, including that they're all genuinely pretty good people, open and accepting, and funny.)
One of them and her husband are going to a metal concert this weekend, and it turns out that our manager is going with his oldest daughter because they're also fans of this band. The one coworker commented that she wonders what people must think when they hear about the different concerts she's gone to this year since its kind of a weird variety--an old folky-country singer who's mostly only popular with older people (in their mid 50's and up; she and her sister were the youngest there by quite a bit, in their late 20's and early 30's respectively), Taylor Swift, and now a metal band.
Another coworker piped up, "That's why I like you; your music tastes are eclectic. You're poly-jam-orous!"
I about died laughing, y'all. Her pun game is on point, as usual.
#not knitting#not crafting#puns#personal#its so nice to have coworkers who all get along#the team i had when i first started mostly got along but after we lost half of them at once because of the old manager it went downhill#and it seemed like everyone who got brought on for a while was super conservative and racist and religious#if they thought someone was making a joke about their religion or brought up politics they didn't agree with they cried to the manager#it didn't matter if they were part of the conversation or not#it didn't matter if they only heard part of the conversation and took it out of context#they didn't even bother talking to the three of us remaining before they got offended and cried that they were being discriminated against#those were also the laziest most entitled bunch that ever worked in my department#never wanted to work and always wanted the three of us to cover for them but gods forbid one of us has an emergency and needs them to help#suddenly 'kids these days' and 'no one wants to work' and 'some of us have lives you know we can't always cover for you'#boomer mindset on all of them#i damn near quit because i was tired of their shit but i held on out of spite since they clearly didn't like me#i kept the mindset that 'im not trapped here with you. y'all are trapped here with ME'#literally stayed late with no complaints to cover for one of them for a week at a time 3 months in a row so she could go on fancy vacations#and when i asked her to come in early for me once because i was puking my guts out from a migraine she bitched that she was tired of#covering for me all the time and refused to come in half an hour early. i had to come in to open and leave once a couple more people were i#she'd been there for literally only 4 months at that point and had already been on those 3 vacations which were planned AFTER she got hired#and i hadn't missed a day of work the entire time she'd been there so she had never had to cover for me. or for the other two who remained.#all that to say im very thankful for my current team#we communicate and are willing to help cover or switch shifts and even though we come from different walks of life everyone is respectful#no one acts like theyre better than everyone else like fancy vacation bitch did (cuz she was a rich white conservative christian lady)#it also doesn't hurt that im no longer the only queer in the office and most of the current team is also crafty#we hype each other's work up and share supplies and tools if someone needs it#and then weve got the puns#so many awful puns and dad jokes and its the best
