Opinions that will definitely get me kicked out of the fandom:

While I am very proud of Hyunjin and love how happy he is being an ambassador for Versace, and of COURSE he deserves to be appreciated for how gd gorgeous he is...

1) It feels a bit ironic how he used to take issue with people thinking he didn't need to work hard because of his looks, and now he's doing something that's 99% about his looks (but he deserves to flaunt it, I mean look at him)

2) Some of Donatella's interactions with him honestly feel too close to "if she was an old dude and Hyunjin was a girl group idol, there would already be some discourse about this" for comfort.

It doesn't trigger any alarms for me, it's just a bit uncomfy to watch sometimes

it's a pet peeve but I kinda hate when people draw Mabel with pin-straight hair. like, the simplicity of the artstyle leaves it kind of ambiguous how curly it is, but we also know what pin-straight hair looks like in the Gravity Falls artstyle because Pacifica exists. and Mabel's hair doesn't look anywhere near that straight. like c'mon. just draw her with some curls.

I feel the need to remind people that The Gaslight District is not replacing The Amazing Digital Circus, Glitch is prioritizing TGD now that the pilot is about the drop and the two shows will be airing simultaneously so they will both start getting equal promotion. It doesn’t mean they’ve stopped caring about TADC, keep in mind this is an indie production company working on multiple shows and bringing many creators’ visions to life and that they’ll all get their turns in the spotlight. We’re just barely at the midway point for TADC so it’s not like it’s going to lose steam any time soon, we just need to be patient and not get greedy about it.

The reason I voice this concern is because there were plenty of Murder Drones fans who were angry about TADC “stealing the spotlight” back when it started and even blamed it for MD getting cancelled (it wasn’t cancelled, it ended on the creator’s terms—just like TADC isn’t getting cancelled for this, we are still getting the rest of the show). All I’m asking is that people please be respectful and patient as well as supportive of Glitch in this time. Let’s just be nice and enjoy our shows in peace, and please consider giving Gaslight District a look as well because it looks pretty cool so far.

sometimes its really obvious how much people dont actually believe presentation=/=gender when they see their nonbinary friend go from extremely masculine to relaxing back into femininity once theyre comfortable with their gender and every time they call it detransitioning with zero indication thats what their friend is calling it. i dont know how to tell you this but sometimes you present a certain way for social reasons and not because thats how you actually feel. sometimes you experience dysphoria about your body that is actually related to how people view you and not how you feel about your body. i really dont think its that uncommon for trans people to swing really hard in one direction for the affirmation and then relax back into a different presentation once they are more comfortable in their gender

i do think fandoms have like this issue of like. people want to be The Guy. if that makes sense. like when there's a new ghoul, people want to be the one to name them. in a lot of non-visual mediums, people want to be the one to have the design. and like i Get It. it feels really cool when people use your thing. i'm not the one to have named transwoman copia (i am simply an enthusiast of ex-tumblr user ratgirlcopia's works and i want to keep spreading that), but i think it's really cool people call her cici.

but like. sometimes you have to let go and accept that sometimes your thing does not catch on. my friend ran a poll bracket that had a lot of traction for what it was, and it did have a winner. and people do use that name. but there are people who don't want to use it and i get not liking the name but i do think this is the The Guy desire. because it really does feel good. but at the same time it makes tagging things a huge issue. even now, people will call phantom "aeon" or "midas" and it makes it really confusing. the original air and earth have nicknames i've only seen in the past couple months and i genuinely thought that it was oc posting because i've never seen these names. hell, i don't even really like the name dewdrop for that little fire freak, but i just make him have a nickname while still acknowledging that he's called "dewdrop" by most people.

because, like. this isn't a popularity contest. it's trying to have consistent tags.

Something that bothers me a bit about Americans talking about The Golden Age of the economy is... It wasn't a golden age, not for everyone.

People seem to universalize the fact that you could afford college and rent when... That was true for specific people. It wasn't the universal - especially those who were Black, or Indigenous, or for PoC in general, or women, or queer and trans people. Universalizing any stage of America's history only tells one story. You don't acknowledge the stories of anyone else when you do this.

This just reminds me of Paris Is Burning, and of what was said about the ballroom participates, many of whom were BIPoC and/or queer:
