“You don’t think I know my own palace? I BUILT IT!” - Odysseus [EPIC: The Musical]
I had to do a little thing for that line. It’s so freakin metal. Below the cut is a quoted version:

for belift to still make enha have a concert in japan when it’s been announced that a typhoon is going to hit the entire country.. speaks volumes about what that company prioritises.
bcs how r u gonna send ur artist to have a CONCERT in the same country that the citizens of are going to supermarkets to restock on their products for a few days as they need to stay inside their houses and not leave. how are you risking your artists’ safety like this.
please boycott if you can. boycott and spread awareness about enhypen’s situation. since this company is so money greedy i’m so sure they’ll have to do SOMETHING bcs of the boycotts.
and GIVE ENHA A BREAK.

Rhysand stans:"nobody wants to talk about how Rhysand is a SA Victim"
Girl, I see constantly posts/tiktoks/content about how Rhysand is a SA Victim and 99% of the comments are always super supportive, but every time a Nesta post is made about how she was SA'd by the Kelpie and/or Thomas there are always some Nesta antis in the comments being like "her trauma, doesn't absolve her of being a horrible sister!!!!" even though the post has nothing to do with feyre
or than god forbid people point out that feyre is a Victim of SA in the hands of Rhysand all hell breaks loose, and instead of acknowledging what rhysand did was SA , most of the fandom is out here trying to justify it with the same old tired phrase of "he did it to protect her" or even worse out right denying it by being like "rhysand touching feyre's waist, arms, making her sit on his lap and kissing her against her will isn't SA because only certain circumstances need to occur for it to be classified as SA"
Don't even get me started on the people who believe that gwyn faked her SA and is secretly an evil lightsinger
And the one who rarely gets any recognition of being a SA Victim (besides from his fans) is Lucien. I saw a handful of posts/tiktoks from lucien fans that bring this topic up but those are not nearly as popular as Rhysand's posts and where are almost always some people in the comments of lucien's posts who are asking "when did he get SA'd?"
The majority of the fandom always talks about Rhysand being a SA Victim

Your post "Activism is Not Cold-Calling" came across my dash. The point about building community to persuade makes a lot of sense to me.
You mentioned several trainings you've taken and taught as a volunteer labor organizer that discusses the specific nuts and bolts of it. I am wondering if there are resources you'd recommend for someone wanting to add tools to the toolbox. I'm not organizing labor; I'm a parent interested in improving equity in the local schools. But I think at least some of the strategies should transfer well, and I'd like to learn more.
Thanks.
Hi there! Your instinct is very, very correct: a lot of the organizing principles used in union drives transfer well to different forms of organizing. Things like structured organizing conversations and workplace mapping are incredibly useful skills.
Personally, I think the best comprehensive top-down view of effective organizing for a beginner is Jane McAlevey's works. Jane passed away this past summer. We really lost a true titan, an absolute force of nature; but she's left behind a wealth of invaluable materials - books, articles & other writings, interviews, speeches. The first few pages of No Shortcuts: Organizing for Power in the New Gilded Age rewired my brain and made me think about organizing in a whole new way, and I've read that book practically to death, it's barely hanging on lol. You can find McAlevey's works here: https://janemcalevey.com/
Of course, McAlevey's oeuvre is very union-focused and goes deep. If you're just looking for some quicker concepts, Labor Notes has tons of study guides, handouts, and other bite-sized materials that explain organizing concepts. You can buy them on the site (support them if you can!), but they're mostly also pretty easy to find online, or modified versions other people have made. Labor Notes also runs regular online trainings which are excellent.
Lastly, I know you said you're not specifically doing union stuff, but on the off chance anyone reading this is interested in unionizing their workplace: check out Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee. You can contact EWOC directly and they will help you organize your workplace, and they also have their own excellent resources and run regular trainings. You can also get involved by becoming a trained organizer (like me!) and volunteering for them. (EWOC is, of course, American; if any other Canadians are reading this and interested in organizing, feel free to DM me and I can put you in touch with people.) EDIT: I'm seeing people in the notes of my post recommending IWW's materials, and they are so right! Look up "IWW Organizing Manual" and "IWW Organizing Basics." They are great & digestible reads, and IWW has many more resources on their site and archives. (If anyone else has resources to recommend, have at 'er!)

other people have already really eloquently explained why censorship in fandom spaces is so problematic but one of the crucial reasons why elaingate was such an issue, which i personally haven’t seen people touch on is a misunderstanding of fan events which disregards their role as archival spaces.
when you create a character/ship week or other fan creation driven event you are volunteering to act in an archival position. event organization does not end with choosing dates and spreading the word. crucially, fandom event organizers are volunteering to create a space that records the celebration of the chosen topic within their community, regardless of any qualities of the content produced by other fans in the community that the organizers may not personally like. This is because, when you volunteer to host an event and create an archival space to record the event, you are no longer acting in a personal capacity but an organizational and archival capacity.
i saw another person comment on the lack of proper tagging system and master lists in previous elain weeks which is how i became aware of this frankly concerning underlying issue with the event. how can members of the fandom interacting with content for a fan week properly navigate fan week spaces both presently, and in the future if proper tagging and organizational techniques are not observed? how can vulnerable fans protect themselves from content they may be to averse to if it is not properly tagged by event organizers/moderators? creating ‘safe’ fandom spaces has never been about policing content, and thus how other fans interact with the topic, but rather making sure that content is properly tagged-i.e. organized-by moderators so all fans have the power to choose what content they interact with.
when we, as members of fandoms, lose sight of the historical and long held tradition of fandoms as not just communities but archival spaces we fundamentally misunderstand the role of fan events, in this case leading to elaingate.

Day 3 : fashion Jackalope & dungeon rabbit
"Who are you to Chilchuck Tims?" Smiling softly: "I’m his best friend, his confidante… His silly rabbit." "His… silly rabbit?" "Yes." "Does he call you that?" "No."
I spent way too long rendering this. Coloring Chilchuck’s hair is like painting an autumn landscape and I appreciate that
I love love love brown hares and jackalopes being a Chilchuck thing. Why jackalope specifically it’s more complex bc it’s also tied to my indulgent cultural hc for him but if you want to you can dig through this post, for when I talk about why rabbits are so good for him & them. Though now I also associate Rabbit Hole by Deco*27 with them… In my mind they alternate as Miku in that popular animation mv for it, equality for all… Also Zombies but that’s for another day. Also Fashion by Lady Gaga. Also-
They are both flat asses to me. In my heart of hearts
