Hello! Yes indeed I’ve decided to take a little bit of a break! So I am completely fine. Thank you for your concern

But have no fear! I’ve not forgotten about this beloved blog of mine.

It’s the largest I have on tumblr, which I have OverlySarcasticProductions’ Red to thank, as the familiarity of her artsyle has attracted a lot of you to my Spared!Macaque. However, because of this I don’t pay as much attention to it as I do for my other projects, I tend to leave it be until I manage to finish my other works.

Why? Well, the main reason being that I don’t want to take the attention away from Red’s current works. I never directly asked them if I could use her art to make this blog, and so there’s some personal discomfort as an artist to utilize a style that isn’t mine.

I appreciate all the support regardless, as I never expected to garner this much attention! But also I recognize that I’m not being original. So unless Red pms me to shut my blog down then it remains a side project ^^

"I was sorta thinking about this because like, I very much fall victim to the like: 'I have to fix this, why aren't I doing more to help people, why aren't I doing more to reduce suffering, I can't believe there are still terrible things happening in the world, I should be able to do more to fix them.' And I sort of had this moment where I like stepped back, and I was like: the goal of this, the goal of all of this, is to improve life, for people, so that they can live better, happier lives. Right? That's the goal!

Like, any time that something like this happens and we're like 'I should be able to do more to help!' it's because I want people to be able to live happier, more full, more free lives. That's the goal. And it's like, yeah okay, every time it's like 'oh! this crisis is happening', I want it to stop, so that the people in that area can go back to living happy lives.

And I was like, okay so, living happy lives is the goal. So if I spend every waking moment self-flagellating because I cannot fix every problem in the world, where do I fit into this 'living a happy life' goal? Am I part of everyone who gets to live a happy life in this ideal world I'm trying to fight for? And as soon as it sort of occurred to me that like, oh yeah, the day to day decent life is the thing we are all fighting for, it suddenly seemed ridiculous that you must be morally held to the standard that you are constantly making yourself miserable with the miseries of the world."
