Hmm Star Wars route: AU where Anakin and Obi-Wan are age-swapped. Possibly with Obi-Wan as the Chosen One, tho I do like the idea of keeping that as Anakin’s role. How does the story change with Anakin as Obi-Wan’s mentor, rather than the other way around? Who falls in this story? It’s still a story that’s part-father-son and part-brotherly, but a new angle could make all the difference.

Adding Smoak To Fire

Summary: After being injured, Bart finally does something that makes his sister happy.

“XS!” you screamed. 

Nora turned to see you being held in the air. Whoever was holding you had been able to fight against your powers. “(H/N)!” Nora screamed. She needed to run. She had to save you. 

But not even a speedster can save everyone.

Nora can’t remember coming back to STAR Labs. All she could recall was you. Your screams as the criminal stabbed you. Your blood was on her hands when she finally got to you. Your paling skin. Your eyes open and close.

She couldn’t hear Caitlin’s orders, Cisco or Chester’s rapid thinking about how your powers might react to the injury, her mother’s soft pleas to have her change. Nora could barely feel her little brother gently grab her arm.

“Nora!” Bart whisper-shouted as he brought her to the time vault. “Wh–” Bart pulled his sister close to him, shushing her sobs. “Listen to me, I’m gonna go and get Mia. You need to clean up and stay with Mom” Bart told her. 

He knew his older sister better than most. Bart knew that until you woke up or Mia gets to you both, Nora would be stuck in a daze for who knows how long. 

Nora only nodded before Bart informed his father and mother on what to do and then he ran into the pipeline to travel home and get Mia here fast. 

Iris helped Nora change and clean her hands of your blood, trying to talk to her daughter. All she was given was silence, watching the tears gather in her eyes before wiping them with the back of her hand and letting the cycle continue. 

Once Caitlin was able to stop the bleeding and get some blood, donated by Allegra who was the only match to your blood type, Barry brought Nora into the room with a chair that was as close as he could get it. 

After half an hour, Bart returned. Mia took a moment before hurling her stomach into a trash can. Bart went to pull her hair back before Mia caught his hand stopping him. She took a moment before looking at the boy. 

"Where are my girls?" Mia asked, her toe as sharp as a blade. Caitlin ushered her to the room you were in. Mia went straight to you and Nora. She took Nora's free hand, her fingers caressing her knuckles out of instinct and her other hand went to lay under the palm of your hand that Nora held. 

"I… I wasn't fast enough" Nora choked, turning to Mia. The blonde crushed down, her arm wrapping around Nora's shoulders. "Hey, baby look at me" Mia whispered "You did everything you could okay? We still love you just as much and nothing is ever gonna change that". 

Nora pressed her head against Mia's and sighed as they both looked at you. "It's just a waiting game now" 

You felt your eyes open only to shut them again. Stupid lights. You waited a moment before opening them slowly. After adjusting to the light, you turned to the weight on your hand. 

Your girlfriends sat next to each other, both holding your hand as they slept beside you. "My favourite future sister-in-law! Great to see you awake" Bart whispered from across the room. You only rolled your eyes at him. 

"Bart" you smiled as he walked over to you. "You took a hit for little ol' m" Bart gushed, hand over his heart in the most dramatic way imaginable. Family Trait. "Yeah, I'll take a pass next time. It's exhausting saving your ass" You groaned, rolling your eyes at the boy. 

Bart mocked a gasp, falling back onto the floor. The both of you let out a quiet laugh, careful not to wake up your girls. "Seeing as you owe me one Allen. Maybe you can help me out" You wiggled your eyebrows. 

"Only if you never do that again" 

When Mia's eyes opened, her head went from zero to a hundred when she didn't see you on the hospital bed. "Babe!" She shouted looking around for you and waking Nora in the process. "W… What?" Nora groaned, looking around stupidly without reason. 

"Darlings, I'm okay" You cooed, sitting in the iconic Wellsobard wheelchair you had heard so much about. Mia felt a weight on her shoulders lift as she walked over to you. "You had us so worried Bow” Mia cooed, kissing your cheek. You smiled at her, placing your hand on her cheek. “I have the most amazing girlfriends in the universe. I’m not letting anyone take me away from you” You looked at Nora, holding your free hand out.

The guilt on your sweet thundercloud was heartbreaking. “Thundercloud… come here baby” You encouraged her. Nora holds your hand, tears falling from her face. “I’m so sorry” Nora cried at you, her guilt too much to bare. With Mia’s help, you stood up slowly, hugging her with all the strength you had. “None of this was your fault, my love, I chose to be like you two, my arrow and thundercloud. We are in this together, until the sun stops shining” You told them both, a soft smile on your face.

“We love you so much Lightning” Nora sniffled, wrapping her arms around you and Mia. “I love you both two, now wheel me to the bubble room” You cheered softly, falling back into the wheelchair.

Nora and Mia wheeled you into the time vault. Their eyes lit up as they noticed the blankets and fairy lights strung around the room. “(Y/N) You didn’t!” Mia exclaimed, slightly angry that the girl went to this trouble. “Nah, Bart helped me out. This is the first time in ages we’ve been in the same time period with you two helping your Dads. I just want a night date with my girlfriends without some speedster or ninja getting in the way” You told them.

The two heroes kissed your cheeks, helping to the beanbags on the floor. “Okay then, what movie shall we watch first?” Mia asked you, falling right next to you. “I’ll get the snacks” Nora beamed, using her speed to leave her girls only to come back with bags of your favourites. 

“My favourite girls” You smiled

TURNING TWENTY four is weird, and you have to spend a few moments just laying in bed to let it really sink in— it’s not as weird as turning twenty but it’s weird anyway.

You should be happy, and you are, but you’re also feeling like you’re not getting anywhere. You love your job, you love your friends and you love your life. Yet, all you seem to do is live for others and not for yourself.

This whole fake-dating thing really got to your head and as you make yourself breakfast, pancakes drowning in syrup and an iced latte, you question yourself if you should keep going with this.

It’s not making you feel great. You’re lying to hundreds of people, and you’re also lying to Nico in some kind of way.

Sure, the plan’s working— Nora’s now moved on to commenting on Nico’s posts on Instagram, which made him content— and Nico seems satisfied but then what?

You keep replying to the kiss you both shared in your head, and even though you know you shouldn’t, you do it anyway. The way his lips brushed against yours, the way his hands held you, gentle and secure at the same time.

And the look he gave you afterwards. Lord.

You keep asking yourself what would’ve happened if Nora hadn’t approached you. Would he have said anything? Would he have looked at you like he regretted it?

Inside your head, there’s a million ways of how things would’ve gone. And it’s tiring, honestly. Living inside your head is so exhausting and still, you can't seem to move on.

The pancake fills your mouth with sweetness and you sigh, closing your eyes slowly. Breathing in and out, you decide not to let these thoughts ruin your day. Turning twenty-four is a blessing and you should be grateful, no matter what. Your day should be spent in peace and quietness.

You finish eating your plate of pancakes and you swear to yourself you’re never making a whole plate of pancakes for you again— it’s a lie and it will happen again— because you’ve never felt so full. You change into your work clothes while you answer your parents’ call, smiling when they start to sing the happy birthday song and send you thousands and thousands of kisses and blessings.

It’s a tradition; they call you every year to do the same thing, even when you’re near them. This year they won’t be coming back home until Christmas, so the call will have to do it.

After chatting with them for a bit, you tell them goodbye and grab your purse and notebooks, ready to go to work. Or, at least that’s what you intended to do, which turns out to be impossible when a very perfect, very handsome Nico Hischier is standing in front of you.

“Nico?” You say it louder than you probably should at seven thirty in the morning but it’s not really your fault. He did scare you. “Oh. I wasn’t expecting to see you. Hi.”

He gives you one of those dimple-y smiles and leans down to kiss your cheek. “Happy birthday, Em.”

You smile, still feeling the warmth of his kiss on your cheeks. It’s the first time you’re seeing each other after that one night at Prudential Center and you’re glad he’s not making it weird.

Which can also mean that the kiss didn’t mean anything to him; not as much as it did to you anyway.

And it’s fine. We’re fine, you remind yourself.

“You got up at seven a.m. to come all the way here and wish me a happy birthday?” You chuckle, closing the door behind you and getting outside with him, the cold breeze makes you shiver slightly.

“Yeah, and I’m also taking you somewhere today so you probably should put on some winter clothes.”

You frown, sad to have to turn him down.

“I really wish I could, Nico,” you tilt your head. “But I have work… I’ll be free after two p.m. though, if that’s still okay.”

He clicks his tongue.

“Did you know that you can get a lot of things when you’re the captain of the city’s NHL team?” he leans on your closed door, crossing his arms in front of his chest. “I get free coffee all the time, which is weird because— why are they handing out free coffee to a rich guy?”

“Nico…”

“I get discounts sometimes too, which Nina and Mom love. And now, I got something really cool too,” he grins, white teeth shining. “Wanna know what?”

“I don’t really have time, Nico—”

“Ask me what.”

You sigh, giving up and putting your arms down. Smiling, defeated, you nod. “What did you get, Nico?”

“Well, I got you a day off.” You stop smiling, and your eyes double in size.

You like your boss, you really do, but if there’s something he can’t stand is people missing work days for minimal reasons. And as much as you hate it, birthdays are in his list of “minimal reasons”.

So ever since you’ve started working for him, you haven’t missed a day of work because it was your birthday. And now Nico is here, standing in front of you and telling you that—

“What,” you frown. “Mr. Campbell would’ve never let me have a day off on my birthday. Are you sure you spoke to him?” you ask. “Did the person on the phone sound like a baby who has a cold? Because if that’s the case than you spoke to John and not Mr.—”

“Emma,” he uncrossed his arms and leaned closer to you, looking down. “I am sure I spoke with your boss. He sounds like Jimmy Fallon.”

“Oh my God,” you gasp. “Am I going to lose my job? Nico, wait— that’s really, really, nice and I’m flattered but I’m not exactly rich like you and I really like my job so—”

“Stop freaking out,” he puts his hands on your shoulder. “It wasn’t for free. He asked for ten free tickets for the next Devils game, one signed jersey and a photo with me.”

What.

“What?!” you almost shouted. “That’s— Nico!”

He grabs your house key from your hands and opens your front door again, getting inside while you stand outside, astonished.

“It’s no biggie, I swear,” he opens the door wider. “Come on. Go change into something warmer. It’s going to be cold today.”

WHEN NICO said “it’s going to be cold today”, you didn’t expect him to mean it quite literally.

“I’m freezing.” You complain, already outside of his car, shaking like a leaf. You have your beanie, your gloves and your warmest coat on but it’s still. Cold.

“I told you that it was cold outside. You Americans are so stubborn sometimes…” he mutters under his breath before grabbing a Nico sized coat from his backseat and handing it to you. “Put it on.”

You stare at the coat in his hands before sighing and giving in, for the nth time in just one hour. Nico Hischier can definitely get what he wants, always.

Fortunately, his coat is enough to make you stop shivering, so you just keep your complaints to yourself.

“Where are we, exactly?” You ask, looking around.

It was some kind of forest, but with a wooden pathway that led to somewhere you couldn’t see. The floor was mostly covered with snow, and so were the trees and the wood on the floor.

“This is one of my favorite places here in Newark,” he starts walking, and you walk faster to catch up with him. “I come here sometimes but since I get busy during winter it’s been a while since my last time here.”

“Mhm.”

“Thought you would like it, though.” He laughs and before you can ask what he means, the view in front of you takes your breath away.

It’s a beautiful, giant frozen lake. There are hundreds of trees surrounding it, pine trees to be exact, all of which are covered in pure, soft snow. The floor is also white as pearls and the lake is the most gorgeous shade of blue you’ve ever seen.

You turn around to face Nico, still speechless, and you can’t help but smile widely when you spot the two pairs of skates in his hands.

And then, you remember, one year ago when you had this one conversation with him.

“It’s still amazing to me how fast you guys are.” You say, amused with how fast the players on the TV are.

Nico gives you a warm, shy smile, and his cinnamon eyes are shining the way they always do whenever he talks about Hockey.

“I think we’re alright.” It’s what he says.

You scoff. “I wish I was ‘alright’ like you,” you make air quotes. “I can barely stand on the ice, let alone skate like you do.”

“I’m sure you’re not that bad…” he tries to sound nice, and you laugh.

“Last time I was on the ice I sent myself and a little kid to the hospital. Both with a broken bone.”

Nico tries to hide his horror but you can tell how shocked he is just by the look on his face. It’s funny, so you just keep laughing.

“But it would be really fun to try it again, now that I’m older.” You say, mindlessly, and he hums, going back to watching the game in front of you.

“You… you remembered.”

It’s shocking that he remembered a conversation you both had more than twelve months ago, but what’s even more shocking is the fact that he decided to act on it, instead of just… well. Ignoring it.

“Of course I did,” he grins, handing you the smaller pair of skates. “I just thought it’d be fun for you to do something like this on your birthday. Let me know if I’m wrong, though…”

He looks unsure and so freaking cute.

I’d love to kiss him again.

“You’re not,” you reassure him, leaning on a tree to put on the skates. “It’s probably going to be embarrassing though. You’re a professional skater and I write columns for a living.”

“Today, I’m not a professional skater,” he also starts untying his shoes to put on his skates. They look a lot like the ones he wears to his games. “I’m just Nico.”

“Usually when I skate, I like to, you know, let go of the tree branches and… well, skate.”

“I’m trying, Nico, I swear I am but maybe I’m not meant for this.”

“Emma—”

“Maybe? Pfft,” you humorless laugh while you hold on the tree for dear life, panicking a little bit more every time you remind yourself there’s literally a lake under you. It’s frozen and beautiful but still a lake nonetheless. “I know that I’m not meant for this. Let’s just go back to your car and go watch a movie.”

“Emma,” Nico smiles, kindness and patience coming out of his pores. “Let go of the tree. You’ll be fine, I’m here.”

“You’re, like, ten feet away from me, so you won’t be of any help. Thanks, but I’ll be staying here. I’m fine with watching you tho— what are you doing?”

He’s skating in your direction, and before you can even comprehend what he’s doing, he’s standing in front of you, dimples on display for you to admire.

“You said I was too far away. Am I close enough now?”

His chest is touching yours yet it still doesn’t feel like he’s close enough.

“I-I guess.”

“Then, let’s go,” he holds your right hand and slowly removes your left one from the tree. Now you’re just relying on him, entirely. “People will start arriving soon and then we won’t have the entire lake for ourselves.”

He’s skating backwards while holding your hands, and you’re slowly following him. It’s scary, especially when you can feel the ice beneath your feet crack slightly. It’s not alarming nor dangerous yet you’re still so freaking terrified.

“You’re doing really great, Em.”

His praise makes you blush, but you’re blessed by the fact that your cheeks were already red with the cold.

Skating with him is fun, and not as bad as you thought it would be. He’s patient and gentle, his words of encouragement make you braver and braver, and suddenly you’re skating by yourself, even if it’s just for a few seconds.

You are laughing, you are happy and you are grateful.

And Nico… Nico’s just amazing. Your heart keeps jumping inside your chest whenever he gets too close, and when he holds you tightly, you’re almost sure you’re going to explode.

One hour later, when you’re in his car, warm and cozy, you can’t stop smiling, shaking your right leg, or humming to the pop song playing on his radio.

“Did you like it?” He sounds just like before, unsure and nervous.

You chuckle, turning your body around and leaning closer to his, placing a light kiss on his cheek. “It was amazing. Thank you, Nico.”

“I think we should kiss right now.” He blurts out of nowhere, and you laugh, thinking he’s joking.

“There’s no one looking.” You answer, blinking twice.

“It’s okay,” he whispers, placing one hand on your neck, so close to you that his nose is touching yours. You hold your breath. “We’re practicing.”

His lips press against yours for the second time in your life and it's magical, and it feels like the most right thing you've ever done in your entire life.

His tongue caresses yours, and you whimper inside his mouth, grabbing the car seat with your left hand, looking for some kind of support.

You’re in heaven and in hell at the same time.

TO YOUR ultimate surprise, Nico spends the rest of the day with you.

He takes you to your favorite coffee shop, your favorite restaurant and your favorite bookstore— the same as Mia’s—, pays for everything— which kind of makes you upset, but you don’t do anything other than pout and accept the gifts.

You keep asking him if you’re bothering him, or if he’s got anywhere else to be or someone more important to meet, and he keeps giving you the same answer.

“We’re both adults and we both have jobs so if you have to go I’ll understand—” You say, for what’s probably the twelfth time since you got out of the restaurant.

“Em,” he pokes your cheek with his index finger and then puts a strand of your hair behind your ear. You try not to shiver with his touch. “I’m not going anywhere. It’s your day.”

And it feels so nice. Not only because he took a day off to be with you, but because Nico’s a nice person. He’s fun, he makes you laugh, he listens to your rambling without looking away even just once.

Nora’s so lucky. And she doesn’t even know it.

“Well, I think it’s time for us to go home, no?” He blurts out of nowhere, and you stop taking pictures of the flowers decorating an old lady’s balcony to look at him.

You blush. “Sure— I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to take this long but,” you turn your head around again, staring at the tulips in front of you. “They’re just so pretty.”

“They are, yeah,” he nods, putting his hands inside his pocket. “But it’s getting late and you’re probably tired.”

You are tired, but you would stay twelve more hours awake if it meant looking at the handsome man standing in front of you. Since you couldn’t tell him that, you just nod and follow him to his car, sad that the day’s already almost over.

He drives smoothly back to your place, and you enjoy the quietness. It’s something that you’ve never experienced with someone who isn't your friend— this comfortable silence. Nico has his way of comforting you even when he’s silent and, honestly? That’s a hell of a talent.

When he parks in front of your house, you hold in a sigh, not wanting to seem ungrateful.

“Thank you for today, Nico,” you smile. “It meant a lot to me.”

He smiles back. “No need to say thank you, I enjoyed it as much as you did.”

You’re about to leave the car when he grabs your wrist, holding you in place. “Yeah?” you ask him, curious of what more he could possibly have to say.

“Can I use your bathroom, though? All that coffee drinking is catching up to me right now.”

You chuckle, nodding your head. “Of course. Come on.”

You walk out of his car and look for your keys inside your purse, moving as fast as you could so that Nico wouldn’t have to wait even more time.

You open your door and let him inside your house, before turning the lights on and—

“Surprise!”

You let out the loudest, most embarrassing scream of your life, and you move to hold Nico’s arms so fast it’s actually quite amusing. Your living room had been transformed entirely and now it had balloons, a sign that read “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EMMA!”, confetti everywhere and lots of people.

You hear their laughs and you cringe at yourself, letting go of Nico’s arms and staring at your friends. Mia, Ella, Luke, Jack, and—

“Natalie?!” you shout, staring at the woman in front of you. That’s when you realize Quinn is also here which only means that they flew together from Vancouver to New Jersey. “Oh my God!”

You run to her arms and later it’s a four person hug, with Mia and Ella joining you and Natalie. You love them so much sometimes you think you’re going to explode, and you’re so happy that they are here, with you.

Your eyes are wet with tears when you let go of them but it’s fine— so are theirs.

“I can’t believe you’re all here…” you murmur, wiping your tears. “You… who even planned all of this? I’m—”

“For that you’d have to thank your amazing boyfriend.” Natalie answers and you’re about to ask her “what do you mean” when you remember.

Nico.

You turn around, staring at the man who’s now leaning against your wall and smiling at you.

Nico did this. Nico planned a whole surprise party for you.

“Oh,” you whisper. “Thank you, huh, baby.”

It’s not as natural as you would like it to be, but since everyone thinks you’re overwhelmed with the attention, no one notices or says anything.

“You’re welcome, Em.”

“Well,” Natalie coughs. “Mia did say you’re disgusting together. I see that.”

You all laugh, and you move on to greeting the rest of the people there. You spend a long time deciding what you’re going to order for dinner, and then you spend even more time chatting with Natalie and Quinn about Vancouver.

“It’s still so weird to see the two of you together, like, how did this,” you point to the two of them, who were sitting beside each other on your couch, while you were sitting on the carpet. “Even happened?”

“Well—”

“You see—” They both talk at the same time before looking at each other.

“Go ahead—”

“No, it’s okay—”

You watch them go back and forth with this for a while before you interrupted them again. “So. How did it happen guys?” you chuckle.

“Quinn’s team, the Canucks, work with my dad, and since he wants me to, you know, work for the NHL next year, he ended up introducing us.” Natalie says, cheeks so red it has you confused. “Not us like me and Quinn. Us like me and the Canucks.”

“I get it,” you smile. “It’s just such a coincidence, don’t you guys think? I mean, what are the chances, right?”

“Right.” Quinn’s the one to answer this time and you can’t help but laugh at how awkwardly sweet he is.

The food arrives— pizza and garlic bread— and you all chat while you eat. Your house is loud with laughter, music and talking, but you couldn’t be happier. You catch Nico looking at you from the other side of the room and you smile even wider at him.

“Thank you.” You mouth, and he just mouths back:

“You’re welcome.”

Halloween Night - Trick or Treat? Liane's POV

Location: Avengers Tower, Halloween in NYC

Liane was busy touching up her lipstick in the mirror of her vanity, smiling at her reflection as Ethan walked up behind her, placing his hands on her shoulders. "Looking good, Mistress of Evil," He smiled as Liane looked up at him. "I think we look amazing, but these horns are not comfortable at all." She sighed, adjusting her headpiece. Ethan grinned, hooking on his feathered cloak.

"I suit this look, the all black, the cloak, the hair? Who knew dressing as Maleficent and Diaval would be so fun?" He replied as Liane smiled. "I am sad Bella didn't want to be Aurora though.." she trailed off as Ethan snorted.

"Babe. She was never going to agree to it! And this way she gets to match with her girlfriend, so she's happy." Ethan states, rubbing Liane's shoulders soothingly. "All we have to do is make sure she doesn't terrorise any kids, she doesn't pull her idea of tricks on neighbours and doesn't set anyone's house on fire. Right?"

Liane groaned. This was Belladonna's first Halloween with her new girlfriend and every time before she'd been uninterested in Trick or Treating. But since it was Victoria's favourite pastime on Halloween, Bella couldn't say no to her. And in Liane's experience, Bella had a habit of taking things very literally.

"Right. Just don't let her take any real knives out with her. Fury would not be happy, ditto Hill." Liane reminded as Ethan shuddered. "I still remember the April Fools incident...but relax. Maybe having Nora there will mellow her out. Just a smidge. Have hope Lia, okay?" Ethan smiles, kissing her on her pale, contoured cheek. Liane smiles back, her fake fangs gleaming. "Alright. And if all goes well, maybe we can treat ourselves tonight..." she muttered softly, stroking his cheek gently as a naughty grin crossed her lips. "Of course, my Queen."

They were interrupted by JARVIS who popped up over their alert system. "Miss Felton, a young lady wishing to see Belladonna is at the door. Shall I let her in?" He asks as Liane gets up, dusting herself down. "Yes JARVIS, thank you." She replies, heading to the door to greet Victoria, dressed in a long blonde wig, a washed out blue dress and white pointed boots with little fingerless gloves and a purse that looks like a white rabbit, smiling.

"Hey Miss Felton! Wow, you look amazing! Love the teeth and horns, is Bella ready?" She asks, stepping inside. "She's just in her room, come on I'll show you. So you're the Tim Burton version I assume?" She asks, gesturing to the outfit as Tori beams, lifting her skirt and doing the silly dance with her feet from the film. "Alice Kingsleigh, Bells did mention having a crush on the actress when she saw the movie." She replied, following after her to Belladonna's door, knocking on it carefully.

"One minute!" Came the reply as Nora smiled. "I'm guessing Mr Lensherr is Diaval then?" She asked as Liane nodded. "Yup, feathers and all. But don't ask him to do the accent, he gets embarrassed. And he does not sound Irish." She chuckled as the door opened and Belladonna stepped out, dressed in a darker blue dress with a white pinafore, patterned with symbols, wearing black and white hooped tights, tall black buttoned boots, her bangs styled to the sides and covered in fake blood carrying an ornate knife as Tori squealed in delight.

"Alice Liddell! You look so beautiful! And the blue suits you." She smiled as Bella smirked. "Any costume that lets me wear fake blood and play a mental patient is worth it in my books." She replied, admiring Tori's costume. "The detail is impeccable, you even lined the inside of the skirt with stripes like in the film costume. I knew you'd suit this look well." Bella stated as Nora grinned. Liane smiled, admiring her terrifying daughter's look.

"Very you. So this one is from a video game?" She asked, pointing out the knife and blood. "American McGee's Alice: Madness Returns. A story where Alice is a mental patient discharged from the hospital into the care of an orphanage and has to make it through Wonderland alive in order to face her trauma learn about her twisted past. I played it last year at Vee's when our study sessions became more like...hang outs." Bella finished. Victoria grinned. "I always hated horror games but when I wanted to find excuses for Bella to hang out, I bought it for her after she'd told me all about how she wished Wonderland was more twisted and psychedelic."

Liane sighed happily. "Okay that was adorable. Now Bella you know the rules, right? And please tell me that knifes fake." She said as Belladonna handed over the knife. "I assume you found a plastic, vacuum molded alternative?" She replied as Liane handed her a replica knife, painted to look bloody. "You're lucky I know you so well. And I think it's actually acrylic? Some guy with a 3D printer makes those kinds of props for cosplayers." Liane explained as Bella handled the prop.

"Almost as good as the real thing. And you need not worry. I understand the concept of Trick or Treating now. But I am disappointed by the fact tricks are now frowned upon." Bella stated as Ethan walked up. "Bella your idea of a trick is not the same as anyone else's. Trust me, we are doing everyone a favor." He replied before kissing her cheek smiling. "You both look great. But yes the rules are, don't stay out past 10pm, if it gets to 10 and you aren't home either stay at Tori's or bring her here, whichever is closest, do not terrify the little children and do not threaten anybody. Please?" Liane pleaded as Belladonna rolled her eyes, sighing. "You take all the fun out of the best holiday of the year. But fine. For you." She replied as Liane's shoulders relaxed.

"Good. And have fun! We love you and be safe." Liane finished, squeezing Bella's shoulder kindly as the two headed out into the night as Mia walked up from behind, her eyes narrowed. "You two are sure this is fine?" She says, raising an eyebrow. Ethan laughs but nervously. "Sure! What could go wrong?"

A few hours later...

"Shall we retire to the bedchamber, my Queen?" Ethan smiles, holding out his hand to Liane's as she chuckles. "I thought you'd never ask..." she replies, her eyes gleaming as her cell starts to ring from an unknown number. Frowning, she picks up. "Hello?" She says and her face drops as she answers to the voice and what she hears. "She did what? I- no no Officer that won't be necessary, I am on my way right now, just hang on." She hangs up and looks at Ethan and everyone else who looks dumbfounded. "Lia what's happened?" Mia asks slowly as Liane rushes to grab a coat. "Bella's been arrested."

Meeting Harry Styles

Summary: After actress Mia Tangelo meets Harry Styles at a One Direction concert, he surprises her by showing up at her film premiere.

Warnings: None. I still ask that you be at least 18 to read my fics though.

A/N: A cute one shot from 2016. Harry x OC. I believe this was a request where the woman was famous too. Obviously, this is 1D Harry.

My sister had taken me to a One Direction concert. Neither of us were particularly huge fans, but I'll admit I'd been known to sing along to a few of their songs on the radio. When she originally told me about the tickets I raised a brow, but ended up agreeing to join her, thinking it would be a fun night out with my sis. I'd recently wrapped up filming for my latest movie, and between that and press and promo for my previous film that was opening in a few weeks, we rarely got to spend time with each other anymore.

Halfway through the show, and a few beers later, Nora let the cat out of the bag. I wasn't sure if it was the alcohol or the sheer excitement from the crowd, but with her arm looped through mine she informed me she'd always had a crush on Niall. I giggled at her as I leaned my head on her shoulder, watching the four boys on stage. My eyes, however, were not focused on the Irish one, but rather the tall, long-haired one in jeans so tight you could practically see-

"Mia!" Nora shouted in my ear, interrupting my dirty thoughts. "Did you see that? Oh my God, he's so cute! That smile!"

"Yeah," I grinned. I knew she was referring to Niall, but I wasn't.

I continued to stare at him in awe as he pranced around the stage, getting the crowd more riled up with each "make some noise!" and flip of his hair. A couple of times he came our way, and I could swear we made eye contact as he gave his dimpled grin and a thumbs up.

Harry Styles. I knew the name. I knew who he was. I guess for some reason I'd never really paid attention. One Direction was just a pop band with a handful of catchy tunes. But standing there in the audience, watching him in his element, I realized what Harry Styles really was - a rockstar.

When the concert was over and I was nearly deaf from all the screaming (okay, I might've contributed to it some), Nora and I grabbed our things to hurry toward the exit. In the early days, my sister and I would stay at the venue long after the show was through, and the seats had cleared out. But now that I had an acting career, I got recognized a lot. Not that I minded it, but sometimes fans would crowd around for hours, and I'd finally have to tell them I needed to leave. I still wasn't very good at turning people down and it made me feel bad, so it was just easier to leave the premises early.

As we made our way down the aisle, I caught the glimpse of camera phones snapping photos. Of course, I knew phones had been out during the entire concert, but I also knew people were getting pics of me. I even heard my name shouted a few times. Deciding to hold up a hand to wave, I felt Nora poke me in the back.

"What?" I turned to ask her.

"That guy's calling for you," she pointed ahead of me.

Twirling back around, I saw whom she was talking about, nearly bumping into him. He wore a white t-shirt that simply said STAFF on the front.

"Mia Tangelo?"

"Yes," I nodded.

"Harry Styles wants to meet you," he stated with a small smile.

My eyes about popped out of their sockets as I stared at the guy. "Are you serious?"

"Yes, ma'am," he replied.

My jaw dropped slightly as I eyed Nora who was practically up against my back, her arm still holding on to mine.

"Oh my God!" she squealed.

"You wanna come with me?" I heard the man ask.

"Oh, sure," I muttered. "Yeah."

Nora and I followed him through a maze that led us to a backstage area. I wasn't even sure how we got there without running into other bodies, but before we knew it, we were standing in front of a doorway.

"Just have a seat in there," the guy instructed, gesturing toward a sofa inside the room.

"Thank you," I said pleasantly.

I could feel Nora's nerves radiating off of her as she sat next to me. I chuckled low, grabbing her hand and giving it a squeeze.

"Honey, calm down," I whispered. "I've introduced you to my co-stars before."

"I know, and I was nervous as hell every time," she spewed.

I smiled. "They're just people, like you and me."

Nora raised a brow. "Like you, maybe, but not like me. Not even close."

"I hate when you talk like that," I scoffed.

"Hey, I wasn't just in a movie with Le-"

"Hello," I heard a British accent say. I lifted my gaze to the doorway where a very tall and handsome Harry Styles stood.

"Hi!" I greeted, rising from my seat. "Mia Tangelo, nice to you meet you." I extended my hand and Harry took it. A smile spread across his face, revealing his dimples again.

"Lovely to meet you, too, Mia. I'm a massive fan," he remarked, shaking my hand before leaning forward and kissing the air on either side of my face.

"Of mine? Really?"

"Yeah," he nodded, his gaze not wavering from mine. It was then that I noticed he still had a hold of my hand, and I had yet to acknowledge my sister who had stood up from the couch.

"Um," I cleared my throat. "Harry, this is my sister, Nora."

Nora, who had just been a ball of nerves less than a minute ago, suddenly found her courage and shook Harry's hand, giving him the lowdown on herself and how much she enjoyed the concert and wished she had seen them years ago. Harry was a gentleman, taking in every word. I took the opportunity to take in his beauty, my eyes traveling down his slim physique to his boots. He was even better looking up close, his thin t-shirt revealing a few tattoos underneath. I liked the way he kept combing his long fingers through his hair, and how full his lips were.

"Well, I'm glad you enjoyed the show," I heard Harry say.

I blinked just as I caught a glimpse of someone else walking in the room. I nudged Nora with my elbow. She let out a slight yelp when she saw him.

"Hello," I held out my hand when Niall walked up to me. "I'm Mia."

"Yeah, I thought I saw you in the audience," he nodded, shaking my hand. "Thanks for comin'!"

"You bet," I grinned, turning to Nora. "It was her idea."

As soon as I introduced Niall to my sister, she returned to her chatty self. I stood back and watched her in action for a bit until I felt those green eyes on me. Yes, I'd already noticed they were green.

"So, what did you think?" he asked.

"Sorry?" I turned to face him.

"The show," said Harry. "What did you think?"

"Oh," I mouthed, "I loved it."

I quickly found myself biting my lip like I did when I was nervous. I never told Nora, but I still got nervous from time to time. And the way Harry's eyes were burning into mine didn't help. Fortunately, I had learned how not to look away from someone when they spoke to me. It kind of came with the professionalism and red-carpet etiquette. And from the looks of it, Harry had been schooled as well.

"I'm glad," he grinned. "It's actually funny that you're here. I was just watching one of your films on the bus this weekend."

"Really?" I lifted my brows. "Am I allowed to ask which one?"

"Surrender," he replied a little sheepishly, his accent omitting the R at the end.

I felt the color rise to my cheeks though I tried my best to play it off. Surrender had been one of my earlier films, only my second major motion picture and my very first love scene. Although millions of people had seen it by now, and I'd done several movies since, the knowledge that Harry had watched me naked on the screen made me feel something I hadn't been prepared for.

I cleared my throat. "And did you like it?"

The corner of Harry's mouth curled up on one side, that damn dimple making its appearance once again. "Yeah...I did."

I pressed my lips together and nodded.

"Although, I think In the Dark Daylight may be my favorite," he remarked.

"Oh?" I widened my eyes. Although In the Dark Daylight seemed to have a bit of a cult following, it had been met with mixed reviews. Still, it had been my favorite to shoot thus far. "You know, we just finished filming the sequel."

"I heard about that!" Harry nodded, lightly gesturing to me. "And I hear there's a new film coming out soon?"

"Oh, yeah," I swallowed. "Yes. On the fourth."

"What's that one called again?"

"No Man's Land," I replied. "We're um...I'm really excited about it."

"Me too," Harry commented. "Can't wait to see it."

Despite my nerves, Harry's gaze certainly had a pull on me. I hadn't even noticed Liam and Louis had entered the room until Nora's laugh rang in my ears and I looked over to see them chatting with her. After introducing myself, the guy from earlier with the STAFF shirt peaked his head inside, announcing "twenty minutes". I wasn't exactly sure what that meant, but I figured it had something to do with them getting on their buses and heading to the next city, so we quickly said our goodbyes.

"Really lovely to meet you, Mia," Harry said softly after the other three boys had left the room, his hand gently touching my arm.

"You too, Harry," I beamed, allowing the heat from his skin to warm mine.

"Thanks so much for coming out to support us. I hope I get to return the favor someday."

I smiled wider. "You bet."

Harry and Nora said farewell and I followed her out into the hall, giving Harry one final glance and a wave, catching his dimpled smile one last time.

I could see the cameras flashing as soon as the car pulled up. Adjusting my dress and taking a deep breath, I waited for the driver to open the door. I was never going to get used to this, no matter how many movies I made.

I stopped along the red carpet to wave and do short interviews, my picture being taken every step of the way. I smiled as much as was necessary, but once I was indoors, I felt my body relax. I met up with several of the cast and crew for No Man's Land, taking more photos and sharing a couple glasses of wine that somehow had arrived in my hand. I chatted with a few other celebrities that I'd met before, as well as some that I hadn't. By the time I was seated for the screening, all nervousness was gone.

The audience applauded enthusiastically when the film was over, and I followed the rest of the cast down the aisle, making our way back to the crowd. Several of my peers congratulated me, telling me it was a stellar performance. I took their compliments graciously, thanking them for coming. I'd just turned from one conversation, prepared for another when I felt a hand on the small of my back.

"You were wonderful, Mia," a low voice sang in my ear.

I jerked around to see Harry, his tall, slim physique hovering over me. He looked amazing in a black suit and shirt, minus a tie so as to give a peek of his tattooed chest in typical Harry Styles fashion.

"Harry!" I whisper-shouted, grabbing his forearm before I could catch myself. "I didn't know you were coming!"

"Told you I was gonna return the favor," he said, covering my hand with his before leaning in to kiss my cheek. Unlike the air kisses he'd given before, his lips actually pressed against my skin.

"I-I'm so glad!" I exclaimed shakily. "It's good to see you."

"You too," he grinned. "You look stunning."

"Thank you," I said.

Or at least I thought I said it. Even in the dimly lit room, I was suddenly lost in his eyes, the pull even stronger than I'd remembered. I was also suddenly aware of what I was wearing. From the moment I'd stepped out of the car and the first camera flashed, it was like I was no longer in my body. I was on autopilot, knowing where I needed to stand, what I needed to say. But now standing next to Harry, his eyes on me, I was finally back inside my own skin, aware of all my senses.

My nervous habit of lip biting returned as I reached down to tug on the lace hem of my short dress, catching Harry's gaze as it travelled down my body.

"So, um..." I swallowed hard. "So you liked the movie?"

"Yeah," he eyes shifted back to mine. "I might've actually liked it more than In the Dark Daylight."

"Really?" I asked, surprised.

Harry shrugged, giving a cheeky smirk. "Alright, maybe about the same."

I chuckled, feeling a bit of tension release. "That's still pretty good. I'll take it."

Harry and I chatted for a while about the film, and a couple of my others, though I was a bit grateful he didn't mention Surrender again. Some of my co-stars joined us and I introduced them to Harry, and even some people who knew him but not me came up to us. It turned out to be a really fun evening, and the more I was around Harry, the funnier and more charming he seemed to be, true to his reputation.

After more cocktails, I excused myself to the ladies' room. I hadn't expected Harry to wait for me, so when I returned and was greeted by another fellow actor, I stopped to talk to him. Halfway through the conversation, however, I caught a glimpse of Harry out of the corner of my eye. He gave me a smile which I returned before quickly averting my attention back to the man in front of me. As he droned on about something I knew nothing about, I couldn't help but keep the grin on my face as I saw Harry coming towards me.

"Hello," he said cheerfully. My stomach flipped when I felt his arm slide around my waist.

"Hi," I licked my lips. I hastily introduced him to the other actor.

"Do you mind if I steal her for a moment?" Harry asked.

The other man shook his head, cordially turning around to start a conversation with someone else. I looked up at Harry, a tiny giggle escaping my throat.

"Thanks."

"What for?"

"For saving me," I chuckled.

"Oh, I wasn't really trying to," he grinned. "Just wanted to be with you."

My face softened as I continued to stare at him. "Oh," I breathed.

"It's difficult to know the most beautiful woman in the room is over here, when I'm over there," he gestured with his head to the area he'd been standing before. It was then that I noticed his arm had loosened only slightly from around my waist, his hand now on the small of my back.

"Oh," I said again, sounding like a broken record. I blinked, my lips curling into a smile. Harry mimicked it, sending shivers down my spine. The way his eyes danced, I could swear he was about to kiss me, but I figured he thought it best not to in our current setting.

"Do you wanna get out of here?" he finally asked after staring at each other for a moment or two. "Or...do you have to stay?"

"No," I shook my head. "I mean, no, I don't...have to stay."

Harry's smile grew as he turned slightly and nudged me with his hand, leading me toward to the exit. When we made it outside, several cars were lined up to take various guests home (or wherever else they wished to go) as they climbed in. Some people had stopped to chat which made me feel more at ease, seeing as I'd just walked out of the theater with Harry. I didn't want our exit - or whatever this was - to appear too obvious.

"Do you wanna take yours or mine?" I heard him ask softly. I noticed then that he had his phone in his hand, no doubt ready to cancel his car if need be.

"Um...mine's fine I guess."

Harry nodded, typed something on his phone and shoved it back in his pocket. I didn't even need to call for my car. It was already pulling up to the curb by the time we stepped up to it, as if by magic. The driver opened the door and I slid into the back seat, Harry following me.

We were both silent for a couple minutes and I took the opportunity to take a few deep breaths and second guess what we might be doing. The intoxicating aroma of Harry's cologne weakened my senses, and I felt my mouth go dry.

"So, I suppose now," said Harry, interrupting my thoughts, "before we get to your place, or wherever it is we're going, I should probably confess something."

I blinked once, my eyes wide as I looked over at him. "What's that?"

Harry smiled his dazzling smile before looking down at his hands and back up at me. "I've fancied you for a while now."

I returned his smile. "You have?"

"Yeah. That wasn't the first time I'd watched Surrender."

My entire body was suddenly on fire from within, like someone had lit a match and tossed it inside. I bit my bottom lip, though this time not from nerves. Harry leaned over and brought his hand to my cheek, his eyes focused on my mouth, his thumb urging my teeth to release my lip. When it popped out, he slid his thumb across it before tilting his head and pressing his mouth to mine.

He kissed me softly and gently, his fingers tickling my cheek. Then his hand slid down to my neck as he pulled me closer, deepening the kiss. He tasted like whiskey and cherries. That mixed with his cologne made my head spin, and I was perfectly fine with it. My left hand had found a resting place against his chest, and my right was somehow holding his in my lap. As I felt the car come to a stop, I pulled away.

"Are we there already?" Harry asked in a raspy voice, his eyes still closed and his mouth mere centimeters from mine.

I giggled lightly. "No. Just a red light."

"Oh," he said, his eyelids fluttering open. I grinned at him for a minute as he stared at me. There was no denying how handsome he was.

When the car began to move again, Harry sat back, his hand still holding on to mine. I looked down at them in my lap and smiled. Then Harry lifted them to his lips, kissing the back of mine.

"I'm glad you came," I muttered.

Harry gazed over at me. "So, confession number two," he said sheepishly, "I wasn't originally invited."

I narrowed my eyes. "What?"

"As they say, I had my people call your people."

I let out a loud cackle. "You did not."

"Yeah I did. I wanted to see you."

"You couldn't have just gotten my number?" I inquired.

"And miss out on surprising you?" Harry quipped.

"Harry Styles!" I teased, shoving his arm.

"Were you surprised?" he asked.

"Very."

"Mission accomplished, then," he smirked.

I watched him in silence until I noticed we were turning into my neighborhood. My stomach flipped at the anticipation, and my palms were sweaty.

"Mia?" I suddenly heard Harry say as I was gazing out the window.

"Yes?"

"I've been thinking about this the whole drive...going back and forth in my head...and maybe it's because I'm sobering up but..." his expression softened as he shifted in his seat to face me. "I don't think we should sleep together tonight."

My face fell. "Oh. Okay." I felt like I was going to throw up.

"Please let me explain," he added. "It's not that I don't want to. I very much want to." He said the last sentence with a nervous chuckle.

"It's fine," I remarked, my jaw set to keep from revealing any real emotion. I felt like an idiot.

"Mia..." Harry sounded, scooting closer to me. He lifted my chin to look at him. I blinked fast, worried that a tear or two might sneak through. "I wanna get to know you more. I really like you. I wanna take you out, on a proper date. I don't want this to just be a hook up."

My eyelids fluttered a few more times as I let his words sink in.

"Really?"

"Yeah," Harry nodded. "Tour's over. I have some time to actually spend with you, get to know you better. Would you like that?"

I felt my cheeks rise as a smile slowly spread across my face. "I'd like that a lot."

"Good," he grinned just as the car pulled up to my house and we were let in the gate.

I quickly gave Harry my number which he programmed in his phone. When the driver opened the door, Harry got out first, holding his hand out for me. As I dug my keys out of my bag, I saw Harry talking to the driver before following me up the sidewalk.

"Wow, I get a gentleman walking me to my door," I commented. "It is like a first date."

"Well, I am a gentleman," remarked Harry.

"Do I get a goodnight kiss too?"

"Are you kidding?"

Harry slid his hands under my ears and kissed me like he had in the car, only with a bit more fervor and spark. I felt light-headed before he even let go, and by the time he did, I could barely stand.

"Are you sure you don't wanna stay?" I whispered.

Harry rested his forehead against mine.

"Next time, love," he breathed, his fingers dragging down my neck. "Promise."

With one last kiss, he turned back to the car. I watched him get in and wave goodbye before I unlocked my front door.

I had just climbed the stairs and was walking into my bedroom when my phone rang in my bag.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Mia, it's Harry," he said. "Would you like to go out with me Saturday night?"

I giggled like a schoolgirl as I sat on my bed and kicked off my shoes. "I'd love to, Harry."

Mo Ryan’s Burn It Down! If you’re at all interested in the entertainment industry and how it all gets made, this is basically required reading

the Succession script books (pricey but personally worth it)

I just finished Jill Gutowitz’s Girls Can Kiss Now and felt very seen, a wee bit too relatable

And I’m currently also reading Ann Patchett’s This is the Story of a Happy Marriage, which is a great book for my fellow writers to read

I’m a paid subscriber to Hunter Harris’ Hung Up newsletter and I’ve never once regretted it lol

Gotta shout out Dracula Daily as well as the one podcast I listen to rn, re: Dracula (I listen and read at the same time which is perfect for me lol)

TV:

Minx s2 - it is on Starz which I know most people don’t have but this season has been EXCELLENT

Only Murders in the Building s3 - it’s like a comfort show for me at this point, despite being about murder it makes me feel so cozy. Nora Ephron vibes

The Bear s2 - everyone’s been talking about it already but I just finished and god it was GOOD

The Sopranos - everyone should be doing # Sopranos Sunday with me!!! It’s so fun!! This show is soooo good, really living up to the hype for me

Acapulco - really cute show, makes me wish I was still on vacation in Mexico

Poker Face - bring back standalone episodes like this!!! Bring back character actors doing incredible guest star roles!!!

The Other Two - just. It was the funniest show on TV. It really was. 30 Rock’s spiritual successor which is pretty much the highest praise I can give it

Movies:

Red Eye - I rewatched it after Oppenheimer and it really holds up. Fun, tight thriller that is only like an hour 20 lol. Also Brian Cox aka Logan Roy is in it (and Jayma Mays my beloved)

Theater Camp - as a Jewish theater kid who went to and/or worked at a summer camp every year of her life from ages 4-20, there was no way I wasn’t gonna like this

Mamma Mia series - obviously everyone on tumblr knows about these already but I made my family watch them with me for the Fourth of July and god if I could live in the world of any movie it’d be this one ❤️

Man Up - very cute & fun British rom com I first discovered in college and rewatched this summer. Everyone has incredible comedic chemistry in this, and Lake Bell & Simon Pegg have great sexual chemistry as well (quite a lot of British faces who were nobodies when this was made who’ve gone on to bigger things - most notably Phoebe Waller-Bridge who’s only in a single scene)

X-Men: First Class - my favorite superhero movie ❤️

Indiana Jones series - I rewatched the whole series and saw the new one in theaters this summer. The first and third are literal masterpieces. Second one is mean spirited and racist. Fourth actually has quite a bit of charm, but then it fell apart in the back half. The new one…woof. Nobody but Steven Spielberg should be allowed to direct Indy movies.

NATALIE SPENT so much time quiet that you, Ella and Mia thought she had frozen and her wifi was off.

“Hello? Nat?” You call her, looking at the laptop screen. “I think you’re frozen—”

“I’m not,” she laughs and rests her face on her hand, looking amused. “I’m just— I’m speechless, that's all.”

“That was my reaction too,” Ella quietly says, and you coo at her cuteness, giving her a cheek kiss. “I thought they were pranking me.”

“So, let me see if I got this right,” Natalie claps her hands, inhaling loudly. “You and Nico weren’t actually dating until two weeks ago?”

You bite your lip, hiding your smile.

Believing that you are Nico’s real girlfriend is still hard for you.

“Yeah…” you nod.

“And you just started fake dating him so that Nora would finally notice the poor man and hook up with him?” She continues and you scrunch your nose, rolling your eyes.

“I mean—”

“Yes, that’s exactly what she did,” Mia jumps in, looking up from her phone. “Sometimes I’m certain that she thinks we live in a movie because in what world does fake dating even work?”

“Well, in ours, apparently,” Natalie scoffs. “Em is literally dating Nico after being his fake girlfriend for I don’t even know how long.”

“Three months,” you answer. “I didn’t think before doing it, I told you guys. It was like a spur of the moment kind of thing.”

“I think it’s sweet.” Ella smiles.

“You think everything is sweet, baby,” Mia also smiles at Ella, watching the youngest of you all blush prettily. “But can we talk about the skank in the room?”

Ella’s blush deepened and you laughed hard. “Mia—”

“I mean, are we really going to ignore the fact that Nora knew you and Nico were together and still kissed him? Like, hello?”

“That girl is literally trash. I still don’t know how half of the men inside the NHL are dumb enough to fuck her,” Natalie exclaimed.

“Do you guys think Jack fucked her?”

All of you, even Natalie through facetime, look at Mia with surprised eyes.

“What?” She asks, her face turning red, just like Ella’s.

“Why are you asking this?” You ask her, with the same tone as a twelve year old who just figured out her friend has a crush on someone. “Are you interested?”

“Wh— No!” she throws a pillow on you, looking distressed. You can hear Natalie’s laugh through your laptop’s speaker. “I just thought about him because Nat mentioned dumb men and that’s exactly what he is.”

“For how long will you keep hating on him, M?” you ask, laying on the couch. “It’s been seven years already.”

“As long as he keep acting like he owns the fucking world,” she hisses, before moving back to her phone.

You, Ella and Natalie look at each other before Ella sighs and starts speaking.

“When will you come see us?” she asks, changing the subject to something lighter.

Natalie sighs. “Honestly, tiny, I don’t even know. Dad keeps drowning me in work and things are really busy right now. The only time I can think of leaving Vancouver is when he’s away, and, y’know, he’s never away.”

“This sucks,” you say. “You’re twenty-five years old, you’re supposed to be doing the things you love.”

“I think my time for doing the things I love is up,” she chuckles, humourlessly. “I already went to Law School and graduated. Now I just have to keep my dad happy, I guess.”

“Luke told me it is never too late to do the things that make us happy,” Ella whispers, looking at Natalie with fond eyes. “So… If you really want to work as a lawyer, Nat, I think you should just… you know, go for it.”

“You’re the cutest, El,” Natalie smiles and now you’re all— Mia included— praising Ella and kissing her cheeks and messing with her hair. “I love you all so much and I miss you!”

You spent the afternoon chatting with them, happy to be around people you loved so much. When you left Mia’s house to go to yours, you had the biggest, brightest smile on your face, and you couldn’t stop asking yourself when your life had changed this much and turned into something this special and beautiful.

Whenever it happened, you were grateful that it did.

“NICO?” YOU called when you closed your front door, looking around for your boyfriend.

Your boyfriend, Nico Hischier. Your real boyfriend.

You smile to yourself, putting your purse on your couch and walking towards your bedroom, hearing the distant sound of water coming from your bathroom.

Which means Nico’s probably in there, showering before bed, something he does every night. You remove your socks and your coat, leaving them on your bed, alongside your jeans and shirt.

Nico’s humming to some weird song when you enter the bathroom, the steam blinding you momentarily before you close the door behind you.

“Em?” he asks, speaking over the sound of water.

“Hi, baby,” you say, watching as he wipes the shower glass with his hand and smiles at you. “Mind if I join you?”

“Of course not,” he answers, opening the door for you, as you remove your panties and bralette, leaving them on top of your toilet seat. You get inside the shower, grateful that it was big enough to accommodate both of you with space left to spare.

“How did your girls day go?” He asks, removing the shampoo from his hair while you look at him, not even hiding the lust you feel whenever you see him remotely naked.

“It was fine,” you say. “Natalie called us crazy, but so did Mia.”

“Classic Mia.” He chuckled and you hum, agreeing.

“I missed you,” you whisper, watching those dimples you would quite literally die for appear and make your night brighter. “Five hours away from you should be considered torture.”

Nico laughs and kisses your lips fervently and unexpectedly.

And you kiss him back just as hungrily, his wet body drenching yours instantly, while his hands trace the curves of your body like he’s an sculptor caressing his favorite piece of art.

You hadn’t expected it to be this easy to connect with Nico, but it is. Your hands find his toned arms and caress them, noticing how his hair went up, which made you smile.

“I really want to fuck you, schatz,” Nico says, the accent slipping out of his mouth and reaching your ears.

“Really?” you whisper, caressing his chest now. “I don’t want to interrupt your shower routine…”

“I can do that later,” he smirks, gently grabbing your wrist and pulling you down, until you were sitting on his lap. He kissed you fiercely, licking your lips with his tongue, while he arranged your legs the way he wanted.

His laugh is contagious and heartwarming.

“Well, then I’ll pray for the rain too.”
