Been relistening to How to Train Your Dragon, and something I’ve noticed is:
Hiccup chooses his fate.
Like, I absolutely love the whole fate is ruling Hiccup’s life - playing games with him - I mean he is a walking “lost things magnet” to quote the witch. He seems destined to be king because there are so many signs - the blue snow, the swimming race, speaking dragonese, the dragon mark, the list goes on.
But. (And I only spotted this now) In the very beginning, when Gobber sends the boys in to steal a baby hunting dragon, the first dragon Hiccup ever has to train, he picks out one. He gets a nice easy basic brown (Horracow) and he probably would have been very happy with her. She’s obedient, holds similar non-violent beliefs as him, and would have been easy to train. He could have had a fairly ordinary life with her, nothing impressive but he’d have lived.
But Fishlegs didn’t get a dragon.
Fishlegs would have been banished from the tribe had Hiccup not decided to disobey the ‘only the strong can belong’ mentality and given up his dragon. Because he gives Fishlegs his dragon, Hiccup chooses Toothless. And Toothless. Toothless is the key to everything. Literally. *Looks hard at the lobster claw*
The point is, that because Hiccup chooses compassion over self preservation, he chooses to become king the wilderwest. He would rather do a hard thing, like find another dragon, than let his friend suffer. He would rather pick a dangerous adventure over those he’s responsible for, who he cares about, getting hurt. And that’s why, again and again, he always pick the path toward being king.
It’s the same when he saves Fishlegs by claiming he wrote the letter to Tantrum, and in the quest for the potato, and, finally, in how he defeats his father in the flashburn duel. Because dragons are people he cares about.
Yes, Fate chooses Hiccup, but only because Hiccup chose Fate first.

Jason comes back from the dead and, as he's still a bit out of it, heads to the manor.
Crawling straight up through six feet of compacted earth is hard, especially after waking up suddenly in a coffin, so after he makes it inside, he sits down to rest on the couch.
And immediately falls asleep.
Hours later, Bruce returns home to find Jason's body, covered in dirt, dug up from the grave and left on his couch.

[ cw: nightmares / trauma / ]
Post-invasion, Mikey sneaks into Leo’s room and when asked by Leo what the problem was, Mikey just smiles and says since he’s awake and knew Leo would be too, he didn’t want either of them alone. Leo laughs and lets Mikey stick around, both of them clumped together on Leo’s bed, watching grainy compilations of old Lou Jitsu commercials on Leo’s phone.
Technically, Mikey didn’t lie. He just didn’t explain everything that led him to Leo’s room. He didn’t explain the nightmare of his arms burning up too bright, too fast, destroyed before Raph and Donnie have a chance to help. He didn’t explain how he woke up with a wail caught in his throat, phantom pain in his arms and chest alike chasing away any semblance of exhaustion. He didn’t explain how his mind made sure he knew, vividly, that if one thing went wrong with his portal, then he would have never seen Leo again.
He didn’t explain, and he didn’t have to. Leo knows his brothers better than he knows himself, and Mikey has always been easy to read. So it’s no trouble to let Mikey know that he’s still with them, that Leo is here and alive with everyone else. And when Mikey finally regains his exhaustion and falls asleep leaning against Leo, Leo simply maneuvers him into a more comfortable position and stays by his side.
He doesn’t move, doesn’t go to sleep - not that he could, anyway. He just mindlessly scrolls on his phone, the soft snores of his little brother filling the room. He stays in place, awake, because he wants to be sure that when Mikey wakes up again it’s to the immediate sight that Leo is alive and well and home.
And, if Leo’s bring honest, that’s a reminder not just for Mikey’s sake.

just now. imagining percy before learning of his father as a god. remembering nothing of him but a face he couldn't name. a face he and his father shared. percy often wondering if they were similar in other ways. if his father liked wrapping his arms around mom while she packed s'mores for the campfire like he did. if his father liked long car rides to the beach while mom sang to whatever was playing on the radio like he did. if his father liked running along the beachside shore while the water crashed against his feet like he did. if the reason his father was lost at sea was because he wanted to immerse himself in all the ocean had to offer. if the waves were so captivating, he'd dive underneath the surface and search to his heart's content. if the reason he was lost was because he wanted to find himself. if faces were any indication, percy didn't know who he was. maybe his father felt that way too.

DPXDC Prompt #108
When you meet your soulmate you both feel it, you know down to your bones that this person was meant to be with you for life, if you’re unable to find them before you pass on, your ghosts will be unable to locate each other in the afterlife. The Fentons tried to make a way to locate your soulmate using ectoplasm, unfortunately for Danny he’s the only one in the family yet to find his. Jazz actually found hers when she started school in Gotham, some guy named Jason, if Danny remembered correctly. They try some experiments with Danny and something works just not as intended as with every piece of Fenton tech. Danny wakes up in an unfamiliar room and in an unfamiliar body. Looking around, it appears his soulmate is rich, he’s got to call his soulmate and explain the situation. He’s not looking forward to explaining his powers to them but if they’re going to be in his body best to let them know what to expect from Danny’s weird biology.
Damian woke up to an unfamiliar ringtone in an unfamiliar room. Assessing the situation he noticed the number from the phone was actually his own. Might as well answer it to see if he could get some answers.
