Normally, you'd have more shame, but given your current circumstances it was understandable for you to curse loudly in the middle of the hallway on your way home from the school library. All of this was so irritating, the rumours and all the attempted manipulation, both which, were from the exact same source; Kira Ryosuke.

It should be fine. That's what you've told yourself for a long time. But you've been corrected. Because rumour after rumour, it kept accumulating now it's consumed and become your school life, until your identity is once again established as one that only revolves around some guy who likes you.

"You better drop dead next time I see you."

"May I help you?" You pull yourself out of your livid trance, looking up from staring at your feet as you walk and realizing with horror that you say that right in front of someone else. What's even worse, is that you recognise who it was, possibly one of the worst people to unintentionally curse at. It's Chigiri Hyoma. Rising star of the jpop and jdrama industry, who also happens to be a member of one of your best friend's favourite band.

"I am so sorry. I swear it wasn't directed to you- A lot had been going on recently." You prayed, begging that he wasn't one of those celebrities who enjoyed tormenting regular people with their obsessive and toxic fanbases, or liked exploiting their fame to ruin others.

Despite being apprehensive of the social power he holds, Meguru was right every time he called Chigiri attractive. It was evident through photos, but they don't capture his beauty fully. There wasn't a blemish on his pale skin, his tied up hair seemed perfect, it was obvious people would die for his skin and hair care routine. Long eyelashes compliment soft features and his rose coloured eyes clouded with what seemed like concern.

Even though his features weren't inhumanely perfect or complied to the beauty standard to a T, everything just synergises together, curating his natural charm.

Visually, he embodies perfection.

"Ah I see. I understand." Just when you thought he couldn't look any better he smiles, teeth perfectly white and shiny, which were adorned with dimples. It made sense why he was an actor and idol, he pulls off school uniform and even makes it look fashionable, heck his school photo probably came out gorgeous too. "So, what happened?"

You were too busy admiring his visuals to realize you were going to reveal your current struggles to a total stranger. "Well it's just- wait, I don't even know you?"

"Neither do I. All the more better to open up to, no?"

He's kind of weird. No wonder why Meguru loves him so much.

Instead of addressing and responding to his statement, you take advantage of this opportunity, since he's always surrounded by fans. "Then, how do you deal with rumours? You're apart of that band egoism, right? You'd know a lot about this"

"Well. I'm not apart of the PR team, so I don't know the full details. But rumours don't have some sort of secret formula or trick to getting rid of them. Hence why most celebrities have a PR team."

If only you had one too.

"Are you the one everyone assumes is dating Kira? I'm guessing you're referring to all the gossip related to you too." Chigiri continues, seeming genuinely curious regarding your situation.

You nod, and barely process being dragged into a janitor's closet by him, the complete shock taking too long to register.

"Oi Chigiri, what're you doing?" Ending up in a janitor's closet with one of the most popular artists of your age was not expected.

"Dating rumours, you say?" He breaths out, dismissing your question, a chuckle soon rises in his throat. "We're not too different, no? I have the perfect solution for you."

"Which is?" Once again, he ignores your questions, slowly coming closer towards you, face close in proximity to yours.

"Date me."

Oh God! We need to talk!

I have been insane ever since the RWRB movie came out but I guess you can only stay immersed in a fandom for so long before you start to see its more insidious aspects.

This thought has entered my mind before but I chose not to engage because fandom should ideally be fun and a break from reality. Unfortunately, all of humanity's creations contain humanity's flaws and I can't keep turning a blind eye anymore.

I don't think this post is going to do much but if it makes even one person realise they aren't alone in their experience it would have served its purpose.

So, let's talk about fandom racism.

The only other couple that I ship that is an interracial one is Joe and Nicky from The Old Guard. They are also an interfaith couple so they really had the odds stacked against them from the very beginning. But by the time I came into that fandom, there was a real movement to call out racial bias and ignorance in Joe's portrayal. So I thankfully avoided the racism in that fandom because when I got involved in that fandom there was an active will to counter said racism which also made me very careful regarding how I interacted with that fandom. I was just more informed so I protected myself.

The thing I totally forgot while getting into this fandom is that FirstPrince is also an interracial couple. This fandom is very passive in its racism because you can tell fandom racism exists by how people choose to not interact at all with certain elements that are a part of this ship and never has the insidiousness of racism been more obvious than since the movie came out.

It's obvious that a lot of people just didn't engage with the fact that Alex is biracial. The book actually plays a huge part in it because, for the most part, it doesn't do a good job of portraying Alex as someone who comes from two cultures and speaks two languages (even though I have to say that the only time Alex speaks Spanish where it is presented as such in the book is also one of the most beautiful moments in the book and that fact that it isn't talked about nearly as much kind of proves my point). But with the release of the movie, it's harder to ignore Alex's race.

I mean frankly, it is so obvious in the way this fandom treats the actors portraying these characters that they are being confronted by the interraciality of this couple for the very first time.

It's a lot harder to ignore colour on screen.

I love the fact that the director chose to lean into Alex's roots.

But the true impetus for writing this post comes from a fic I recently read which reminded me of this post that I had seen on Tumblr (you can read it here) and combining that with the above issue meant that I felt like I should speak up if only for my own mental peace.

Now, I am very much of the opinion that if you don't like a fanfic you shouldn't engage with it because fanfic writers don't owe you anything. The mere fact that they choose to share their works of art with the public is kind of a very selfless deed. But, I need to talk about this fic because it really started highlighting the issues that insidiously exist in this fandom (we should probably make a drinking game of how many times I use the word insidious in this post).

Henry running away from Alex at the lakehouse is something that only works if you account for the fact that he is an honest-to-god Prince. His actions in any other scenario are just douchey. Fanfic can get very creative and I'm pretty sure that fanfic writers can come up with alternative ways of making this scenario work even in an AU without him being royalty but it needs to be creative to work.

In the book, this works because Henry is a prince and the one thing that I know about the British Monarchy is that it has a will for self-preservation like no other. So you can sympathise with Henry's position without needing the details. It's also important to realise that the monarchy is not just an institution for Henry it's his family. At some point, he is going to be the son of the reigning monarch abdication or not.

But if you try to spin off an AU in which Henry pulls this stunt except with way more viciousness then you better come prepared to make him GROVEL. It really hurt because apparently people reading this fic were angry with Alex for his understandable vindictiveness something I gleaned from the author's notes on the various chapters and not because I read every comment on the fic so I could be wrong about how people were reacting to the events in the fic but clearly the author believed that the events in the fic would garner hate towards Alex which was literally unbelievable to me. Because predictably it's Alex who takes the first step towards reconciliation and Henry literally does the bare minimum. Reading this fic was so disturbing and disconcerting because I don't think the author even realises that they have set such different standards for Henry and Alex in this fic which made it infinitely worse.

Henry's abandonment of Alex just doesn't work if he isn't burdened by something as powerful as the monarchy and I don't get how that isn't obvious.

The Tumblr post I came across also on a similar note is pretty succinct and I like the point it is making.

But it got me thinking and I realised that Henry's initial rejection of Alex can't be read as Henry rejecting Alex, it has to be read while keeping Alex's lived experience in mind. So no matter what Henry said be it the "get rid of him" version from the book or the "get me out of here" version from the movie, it still can't only be about Alex and Henry it also has to be viewed through the lens of race and class differences that exist between these two. It means that Alex not only has to deal with a person being rude to him he has to deal with the fact that this person is rude to him because of things about him that are a fundamental part of who he is. Of course, that isn't the case here but I don't blame him one bit for jumping to conclusions. Also, in this case, context matters and I like the fact that the movie changed the line because with context Henry's position is much more sympathetic than in the book version of his line (which is incidentally never brought up in the book).

I also like the fact that Henry is the first to contact Alex unlike in the book where Alex gives Henry his number and Henry just decides to use it because it showcases a will to know Alex. Henry makes an effort to give this relationship a chance on his own terms which is something I didn't know I needed. It also means that Alex isn't the only one seen fighting for and wanting this relationship. We have express proof that Henry wants it too with not one but two instances in the movie.

I should probably also tell you that so far I haven't encountered a whole lot of racial bias in fics in this fandom so you are actually pretty safe because I'm pretty sure I have read more than fifty fics in this fandom and not one was insidiously racist. The racism is more observable and notable with how this fandom treats the two actors differently but when I read this one fic and yes so far it is only the one fic that I was tempted to quit in the middle but didn't because by that time it had already become the straw that broke the camel's back and I didn't want to critique something I hadn't read in its entirety.

So, here it is whatever this is. I hope this helps in some way either in validating some people's feelings or alternatively making someone else recognise their own bias.

First of all, I'm honored that you ask ME this question, because I'm not very confident (working on it 💫) and it's like a huge compliment that you would even ask.

Llike every other artist, you and me are both gonna be the biggest critics of our own drawings!! I just want you to know that before I say anything else! If you ever feel like you're not getting any better or not fast enough, take a step back and take a look at the bigger picture, go back, look at where you started, it's only a question of time, you're constantly evolving!! <3 Be patient with yourself ~

I'm sure you were thinking of actual advice not the mental part, so I thought of some, but for real, most of what formed my art style (that is constantly changing and is gonna continue to change until I die 👁️👁️) was TIME. I don't always love to draw but when I have these periods of drawing a lot it's always because I'm hyperfixating on something, so finding something you can fall in love with and obsess over is gonna make time absolutely FLY BY.

Don't get discouraged when you're not nailing a character the first time you draw them. I personally only get it somewhat right at like the fifth try (funny enough I'm an impatient person but when I love something I seem to be able to be patient 💀💫) if anything Do it out of spite!!!!!!

Practice is a funny word, I don't like it because it seems like you have to know what you're trying to achieve if that makes sense. Maybe that can hold you back too. Drawing something and failing still counts as practicing. Finishing the best painting of your lifetime counts as practicing. Every time you draw you get better.

Ooooooh an interesting one that I only figured out this year: SPEND (if you can) MORE TIME OUTSIDE AND AROUND PEOPLE because your eyes notice lightings, movements, expressions, COLOURS that you then unconsciously (subconsciously?) keep in your head for later!! And when you are drawing you're gonna UNCONSCIOUSLY use that information??? It's wild (says the person who spent years barely leaving their bedroom) I'm not even exaggerating, my art got out of the blue so much 'better' (different) when I started leaving the house more often. (You might not have this issue tho!! 💫)

Also I started drawing when I was watching a lot of animated movies/shows and it influenced my art so much. When I got hooked on shows with live actors everything changed (again, your brain is putting away so many details for later) I started seeing anatomy more realistically.

One last tip before I stop rambling (and make another coffee 💫) Find a pen that WORKS FOR YOU. My stuff would look so much different if I was using different brushes than I use now. Try as much as you want! Do you prefer traditional or digital drawing? Both have cheaper alternatives (I understand this hobby is not a cheap one in general) I have a bunch of tips for Clip Studio Paint for example! Idk, let me know, I would love to show you my favourite settings that actually make my life easier!! ❤️

Okay I had to do some stuff, but here I am rambling about relationship between Killer and Nightmare in Colours of LOVE.

Some of this I might mention before some of it might be your and Jann or Yuri ideas... Anyway!! The way I see that:

Even though this is soulmate au Nightmare and Killer aren't perfect fit for eachother. They are perfect fit in threesome - Ccino softens rough edges of both of them, and changes their attention from being mad on eachother to carrying about Ccino together (especially at first when he is really depressed). But before that... It was hard.

Killer is really open about everything he thinks and feels. If he founds someone who is attractive he will flirt. Even when he is already dating Nightmare. And also he always shows his affection to Nightmare everywhere, in public too. That's cute and sweet, but Nightmare is really closed person so that makes him really uncomfortable. Night often got jealous with Killer flirting with anyone else, got embarrassed with his kisses and all on public, and in general is a bit annoyed with Killer's actions. Killer on the other hand doesn't really understand why Nightmare is so "tensed" (he is not, Night is just much more calm, but Killer don't get it).

They were braking up and coming back again a few times, because they had argued a lot about everything and got tired of this. Right now they are on their "best days" - they started to date again a few weeks ago and right now they are through some stuff, they understand eachother better, and pretty chill about eachother weird actions. Like in the second page Night is a bit flustered by Killer's kiss but he almost used to that. Same as he is worried about being late, since Killer is almost always late, but he is more or less fine by that. On next page (which you haven't seen yet), there are an interesting dialog between them, and I will definitely write some of "subtext" about it when I will post it.

Actually if they haven't met Ccino they would break up again after a few months. And maybe come back again after a week.

Also! Interesting thing about third soulmate: at the beginning of the comic (before Nigh met Ccino) Killer is 100% sure that they have third soulmate, but Nightmare is sure for about 60%. Killer is existed about that, he knew knew that he is polyamorious for a long time, but Nightmare hesitates a lot, because he can't really imagine himself in polyam relationship. It feels weird and also he is soooooo jealous about Killer paying any attention to anyone except him, that he worries to become "third wheel". Will it be different with Ccino?? Who knows (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)

It's definitely an interesting insight to your comic and the characters!

It reminds me a lot of an early version of my own ideas about the studio verse nightkiller relationship! And I can definitely see the way we have bounced headcannons of each other paying off.

Them still dealing with a softer kind of lovehate dynamic is an interesting one. It doesn't seem to be as extreme as my version, but it's interesting that it's still there.

The fact that they are meant to work as a 3 makes sense as well. If they are supposed to be bounded as a 3 it makes sense that three they their relationship would be unstable. They don't work as a two, but they are soul mates and something would always pull the two of them together.

I'm also curious, since Nightmare isn't 100% sure that the lack of colour is due to them being soul mated to another person. I wonder if he ever felt like the universe got it wrong? And that he'd been mated to the wrong person? Or perhaps he felt it meant that him and Killer don't have soul mates and that's why they have some connections.

It sad boy.

Also if Killer knows he's poly by nature, is that something that causes disagreements with the 2 of them?

Round and round till we all fall down

Nightmare and Killer's relationship started off baddddd, it basically started as a mutual dislike for one another. This is due to their conflicting personalities and morals.

Nightmare was originally quite excited to meet Killer, as he'd heard a lot about the actor. But almost straight away he found Killer to be rude, childish and irritating. Killer found Nightmare to be stuck up, snobbish and entitled.

The two first met at an awards ceremony and got into a yelling match after a few drinks and were separated. From there their dislike for one another was made quite well known to the public because of a social media battle back and forth.

This only went on for a few months however, as the characters of 'Killer' and 'Nightmare' were cast to play together.

Nightmare and Killer agreed to be civil in order to function while working and get the filming completed as soon as possible.

As they worked together, their dislike turned into a playful banter and respect for one another. And then something else shifted.

Now Killer has a reputation for being a player and one who likes to sleep around, as you said, he's open about his interest in people when he has it and enjoys casually flirting with just about anyone.

Which came to include Nightmare.

Nightmare paid no mind to it really, though he couldn't understand why it embarrassed him so much.

Killer comes to find Nightmare to be very attractive and enjoys his reactions when teased, he rights him off though because he was under the impression that Nightmare was straight, and he'd never try to change that.

It was a day when they were talking about Killer's eyes and how it's caused him to struggle, that Nightmare tells him that he thinks his eyes are very pretty and that they are an attractive quality, and something in Killer breaks and he kisses him.

So Killer feels like he messed up and the two avoid each other. But it causes Nightmare to start questioning things about himself.

Nightmare at this point had only every dated women. He assumed that he was straight. But after that kiss a lot of buried feelings are dragged to the surface and exposed, and he realises that he's also attracted to men.

So Jan goes into full details about this, in the fic Killernights, but basically Nightmare confronts Killer about the kiss and Killer tells him he 'has a thing for him'

The two go back to Killer's flat to talk, but their normal banter, leads to flirting and then another kiss. And Nightmare who is curious and suddenly craving new sensations becomes lost to him. Killer who finds Nightmare physically very attractive, also gets wrapped up and the two of them sleep together.

Nowwww this is getting long so I'll try to shorten it down a bit.

Basically, it's an amazing night. It's passionate, enjoyable and a lot of fun for both of them. Upon finding out Night has never been with a man, Killer guides him carefully though the process.

After that night the two can't stop thinking about each other, even though they both planned for it to be a one time thing. Again, they avoided each other until talking after a while.

And killer admits his desires for the other, and offers Nightmare a safe environment to experiment with his sexuality, where he won't be judged.

To cut a long story short, this spirals into a passionate and carnal, on and off booty call/fling with each other that spans for years.

Other that time they grow very close with each other, and come to recognise the similarities that they share, and have soft moments of just enjoying being together with one another.

For Killer, Nightmare is the first person to ever tell him he had beautiful eyes and mean it. The first person who wasn't at all put off by them.

To Nightmare, it feels like Killer is the one person that will never pick Dream over him. And he makes him feel wanted and desirable in a way few have before.

However, their are still parts of their relationship that conflict. Of course a healthy relationship will always have some conflicts. But for Killer and Nightmare the conflicts clash and fight with each other.

That along with both of their past traumas, (I wrote about Killer's back story here) means they find it difficult to talk about genuine feelings and what's bothering them. Causing things to bottle up and blow up over time.

They also find it impossible to admit that they actually love each other deeply.

They tried to be in a full on committed relationship once, (which I'm writing about in Round and Round) but it didn't work out for these issues. As well as the fact that Killer is poly by nature, and therefore gets anxious and uncomfortable in a relationship with one person only. Which he won't talk to Night about for the reasons stated above.

Enter Ccino.

Now Ccino is the missing piece for Nightmare and Killer.

He's soft and gentle spoken, which easily helps them calm down when things get heated between them. He also provides a safe and loving space to open up about what things are bothering them.

Nightmare and Killer's also, as you said, spend more energy caring for and sometimes worrying about Ccino, so they have less energy for the constant fighting.

Ccino was the missing piece. He's the person who will cuddle and read books with nightmare, but also the one who's super into affection, which Killer loveesss.

A relationship would never work between just killer and Ccino, since Ccino wouldn't be able to keep up with Killer's libido and killer doesn't know much about Ccino's mental health. And Ccino wouldn't work in a relationship with just Nightmare because Night's colder and more straight forward personality would leave him affection staved after a while.

They just work together! They are basically soul mates in this universe as well!

P. S Nightmare in this universe was also very veryyyyy jealous when Killer showed interest in Ccino. Which is something he took out on Ccino till Killer stopped it. After falling in love with Marshmallow he regrets this a lot.

Chris Evans just got a few days off from the busy-hollywood-actor-schedule, so he is staying with his boyfriend in their NYC apartment and cherishing every bit of this time. Today Seb had a few press related work commitments and Chris got to see the professional-Sebastian Stan in his element, which he loved! But Chris loves THIS more. Being tucked into the same bed, quietly listening to Sebastian's strong heartbeat among the faint sounds of late NY traffic. He lets out a soft chuckle when an exhausted Seb ocassionly mutters something romanian in his deep sleep. It's incredibly charming and at the same time it is calming and soothing. Chris knows it's past 01:00 am. He should probably stop staring at his beautiful boyfriend now and go back to sleep. Especially when both of them have planned to go on an early morning stroll tomorrow. But before that, being the introspective guy he is, Chris decides to pen down some of his thoughts on paper!

🔸Try to match clothes with Seb more often

🔸Especially the maroon, because he looks smoldering HOT (🔥) in that colour. It brings out the passion in his eyes.

🔸Try to get involved and a front seat in the room whenever Seb does his next photo-shoot. EVERYTIME! It might sound like a slightly perilous idea considering the tabloids, but it'll be totally worth it.

🔸Although I know he subconsciously looks and acts like he's in a photoshoot 24/7, there's something about him posing infront of a camera, being sinfully pouty and intensely gazing that increases my heart rate and makes the butterflies in my stomach invite some more fireflies 🔥

🔸Go to the gym together frequently. This shoot just reminded me of how deliciously distracting he can be while working out. Holy shit, I need to make it our quotidian routine!

🔸Buy some more Armani bath-robes. Just do it. Maybe one of those David Yurman necklaces, too.

🔸NEVER argue with Seb about roads in New York. He clearly knows better, so he'll always win. In addition to that, he'll always remember your dumb-ass-fight and give an ode to that in his cute-dorky-short videos by making a guy ask him about '4th and Lex'. That unknown-model/stranger apparently represents my ignorant attitude towards the travel advice given by this self-proclaimed 'Best-New-York-tour guide' (😅) God, he's such a dork, my dork!

🔸Buy him a customised T-shirt that says 'Chubby-Dumpling' or 'Dumpling-Man' or maybe both. The nickname from the fans in China still gives him full-belly-laughs.

🔸On your next Boston trip take him to the REAL Dunkin Donuts.

🔸Always stash the freeze with Pizzas and donuts and hot dogs whenever he's having a cheat-day

🔸After a big cheat-day lunch he'll insist on not having anything for dinner. He'll be pretty kin on that. But don't listen to him. Make the romanian bouef-salad recipe you got from his mom. He always caves in with that one! He did today, too.

🔸Interviews for magazine profiles don't always go really well. I've also had my share of bad ones. When things like that happen, don't let him overthink and over analyse it. Seb himself can be a bit capricious at times and every interviewer can't capture the accurate image of a person through his/her writing from an hour long interview. But not everyone gets the privilege to understand,admire and adore this soft, pure, a little shy, beautifully complex and precious soul.

🔸Despite of being an amazing, talented and wonderful human being, Seb will doubt himself at times. Have mercurial mood swings because of it. It's a part of how the human brain functions.

🔸As excruciating as it is for you to witness, don't rush him through that. Let him complete his own thought process, but also never leave his side during that time. Hold him, be there for him. Just like he is there for you, always.

🔸 Seb moves around, paces a lot when he is nervous. Licks his parched lips, tossles his hair. In all honesty, he is more fidgety than Dodger during a haircut!

🔸So when his negative thoughts start to proliferate, give him some extra warm hugs. He says those help and also because you can't help it!

🔸Be an anchor for him during all this turbulance.

🔸Cuddle on that spacious, heavenly couch in the apartment till all of the brain noises settle down.

🔸Then make Seb realise how fucking PERFECT he is and try to erase each and every one of the insecurities he has about his physique and not putting on enough muscle

🔸Tell this sweet, kind, gorgeous man that he's not '50-miles behind' anyone. He doesn't need to compare himself to anybody else, simply because it's not fair, to THEM!

🔸Nobody can ever be compared to Sebastian, because he truly is the one and only♥ He doesn't need to worry about the ego maniac-races in Hollywood️ because he is playing in his own pro-league! Make sure to always remind him of that.

Seriously though, I was actually trying to write a funny one-liner post because I saw the newly surfaced knives out pics and Chris looks so Handsome in the maroon sweater😍. But it just kept getting bigger and turned into this thing😅. I am seriously insecure about my writing skills, so thought of keeping it to myself. But then I decided to post it because some parts of the Sebastian Stan Fandom are in desperate need of positivity 💚

I also scrolled through the 'Chris Evans Thesaurus' (that's what I call his twitter account 😄)for half an hour looking for his trademark words just so I could make this Journal-Entry sound like it's coming from him! (I love wasting my time on the little details!)😏

And if you haven't figured it out yet, I am leaning towards Mackie's side in the Stackie-Couch-debate😂

Put On Your Raincoats #26 | Purely Physical (Warfield, 1982)

Purely Physical starts with some '60s-esque music playing over the soundtrack while Laura Lazare cycles through San Francisco. Over narration we hear her trying to fill out a job application, having to deal with inane questions like the following:

"Sex? On occasion, but that's not what they mean."

"Mother's maiden name? Why the hell do they always ask you that? Peckinpah. P-E-C-K-I-N-P-A-H."

"Hobbies? I don't have any. I've got some habits."

I thankfully haven't been forced to look for a job in a couple of years, but I appreciate the movie's frankness about how bullshit the entire process is. The job to which she is applying is for a concierge at a motel. When she enters the office, she's wearing a green beret and sweater, both of which match her eyes. The walls of the office happen to be a similar colour, as does the sportcoat worn by the manager who greets her and explains the conditions. There's some amazing colour coordination going on in this scene, is what I'm saying.

Now, some very lucky people are able to work in jobs they are passionate about and line up to their skills and interests. The rest of us, including the heroine, work purely to pay the bills. The heroine is a student who takes on the job to help pay for tuition, but hopes the job will give her the additional benefit of providing material for her writing. The rest of the movie consists of her pondering on what all the guests are up to, and using that speculation to work on her book. Because this is a porno, what the guests are up to happens to be a whole lot of fucking and sucking. Along the way, there is intrigue concerning a handsome trucker with whom she has a mutual attraction. Where will this lead? The genre gives away the ending.

This is the part where I reveal that my interest in vintage hardcore isn't entirely high minded, and admit that I sought this one out for the presence of two performers. One is Tigr, who may not be the most polished actress but has a spontaneity that I find refreshing in such material. She brings a similar nervy energy to her scene here, which hits a little close to home as she jumps the bones of a portly film buff who spouts off classic movie trivia before they get down to business. Did you know that Elmo Muller, Johnny Weismuller and Buster Crabbe all played Tarzan? Or that Tom Tyler played the mummy in The Mummy's Hand? Spend enough time with this guy and you will. That he dresses like Lyle Lanley the monorail salesman (or Dick Van Dyke in The Music Man, which would have been the era-appropriate reference) provides additional interest.

The other actress I watched this for is Juliet Anderson, who played Kay Parker's extremely insensitive and horny friend in Taboo and I understand made a career out of playing hot older women who like to fuck. Here she plays a world weary woman on a business trip who comes on to the heroine, extolling the virtues of being with another woman, but has to settle for a solo scene, turning up the radio really loud so nobody hears her. I won't go too much into the details because I am a gentleman (a hand mirror and a pillow figure interestingly into the action), but I admit I was not unmoved by this scene or her performance. The rest of the movie offers similar pleasures, if not quite at the same level. I must report that an early scene is a little too choreographed to work as the awkward teenage fumbling it is supposed to depict, but that the performers involved are appealing enough to let it slide. I must also report that the funniest moment in the movie involves the heroine being shocked, SHOCKED to find out that a guest is seeing prostitutes in the motel, which I assume is the establishment's primary business model.

This is the kind of movie that if you told me a few years ago I would enjoy as an actual movie, I wouldn't have believed you. Having seen enough pornos at this point, I've acquired a taste for the modest pleasures of an unambitious but well executed dirty movie, which is the case for Purely Physical. For a movie about people fucking in a motel, it has an awful lot of wistful music, which gives it a nice, classy vibe. The cast is pretty respectable (Lazare, Anderson and Tigr being the highlights) and mostly nice to look at, and given the single location and episodic structure, the movie is handsomely shot and well paced. When I look up director Chris Warfield, I see most of his credits are as a TV actor. I don't know how this compares to the dozen other movies he directed (almost all of which look to be pornos, mostly under the pseudonym Billy Thornberg), but there is a kind of low key confidence in the execution here. This is modest, but quite enjoyable on its own terms.

I got so intrigued when you said he looked different in real life! How's it so? Fellow artist here, my brain will shut down if I don't bet to know how lol

I’ll try to explain, but let me tell you It took me several days to process what was different from the picture I had in mind.

I’ve been to 3 Supernatural conventions, I knew how they were, let’s not mention that because it’s a unique experience, and you get it nowhere else, because honestly, 3 days with the same actors of the show you like it’s not like 10 seconds with someome you love, right? You can spend much more time watching these people in person.

I’ve been to some big conventions, like the one in Moscow, or in the Netherlands. And seriously,  both of them are like 4 times bigger (at least) then Ace Comic Con Seattle. And I had a chance to understand how quick it all goes there. But even like that the actor usually says something like “Hi, how are you? Have a great weekend!” And you know they say it to everyone, but you can see that they are doing their job, they are present and working there for you.

With Chris (and I knew that from the interviews where he’s talking about things like that quite a lot) you can clearly see how much he wants to hide his pesonality from you. I am not saying he was rude, or that I didn’t like the experience. I’m saying I felt um..kind of pain? for him? And it’s sad =( 

He seemed very detached form the situation itself, and you can see it if you watch the panel from that exact convention. I believe that’s because he was filming at the moment, and I could feel the same energy I get when someone distracts me from my art process, for example. Say you were painting some details for 4 hours in a quiet room, and then BAM someone would come up ans ask you to solve an equation. You would be confused? And a little lost. That’s how I think he felt, you know.

He was hiding, obviously, and he even had a baseball hat that gave a huge shadow on his face so you could barely see his eyes.

SO, as a FELLOW ARTIST you can feel my pain when I say I failed to catch as much of his facial details as possible. That was the plan, and it didn’t work =) But i’ve noticed some things, even with 20 seconds I got (hello 2 takes of 1 picture).

His face is much more, let’s say, in 3D than it looks on pictures and on screen. I don’t know how to describe it. It usually seems very flattened, like he has quite a round shaped face, and it appeared to be not true=) not at all. Let me try to explain with some examples.

Here you see it’s flat on his cheekbones. Like he has a broad jaw and all, seems like that, right?

That’s not how Chris is, I guess that’s because of the camera lenses.

He has a very visible line where his front face part changes to the sides on his cheekbones, and they are not that wide as it seems. It’s very hard to find some photos showing that, but I guess I have some.

Ok, I found 2 of them in my whole Chris folder.

Looks like Chris suddenly got much thinner then he usually is. But he didn’t =) It’s just the photographer managed to find the right lighting and angle.

The other difference from what I had in mind was his nose shape. It’s smaller that it looks like on photos.

And OH GOD how smooth his skin is, very pale with no blush on it, and very smooth. He has moles, right. But no freckles no nothing, it’s stunning. 

About the hair colour - I have no idea,  thanks to the hat. But his beard was not ginger as everyone says. I wonder if it was his natural haircolour or if he had to dye it for the role, as many actors do. It was chocolate brown, a veeeery beautiful colour indeed, hehe. 

That’s what I’ve noticed about his looks and just about him in general. I wish he felt more comfortable in crowds, they shoud have had someone of his fellow actor friends to accompany him, because he obviously seems more relaxed when he is not alone doing photo ops and all.

I think you've already talked about this before but I couldn't find the post on your Tumblr, so I was just wondering what your process was for making animated gifs. Like what methods you use to make them, what software you use, etc? Also, what parts do you find most fun or difficult or challenging? I've started making some animated gis, and while I don't know if I'll ever be nearly as prolific as you are, I was interested in learning more about them.

Oh hey! Thank you!! I don’t think I’ve ever gone through the process of how I make gifs in detail before, mainly because I don’t use Photoshop so I just assume my advice won’t be helpful to anybody. I don’t know how helpful this will be to you, but I’ve done a little step by step walkthrough of how I make a gif with a few general pointers thrown in. I was gonna try and keep it brief but it turned out much longer…..sorry.

I’ve put what I find most difficult and fun at the end, so you can just skip to that if you want.

As for the rest, here goes….

So, background: I taught myself how to make gifs using Serif Photoplus X2 because we used their products in highschool. Then a few years later, I updated to Photoplus X7 (made hardly any difference though). Serif doesn’t even make the Photoplus range anymore (they still sell X8 but it’s rubbish and crashes a lot, and their new product Affinity doesn’t even let you make gifs!). I’ve tried to use Photoshop in the past and everyone says it’s better, but I’m stuck in my ways like the stubborn old woman I am.

Anyways, when I want to make a gif I start off by capturing screenshots for the frames. I’ve always used GOM Player and their “Burst Capture” option to do this. GOM Player lets you choose the format your images are saved as and where you want the frames saved to. I have a special “captures” folder for temporarily storing the files in. So for example, these are my frames:

A good general tip for making gifs with any software is to use the best quality video you can find. Most of the stuff I make is with 1080p or 720p quality. I find it helps when it comes to colouring and making the gif look clearer.

Once I have my captures, I copy them into my animation “canvas” (or SPP file) which has a base colouring I’ve already made on it. It’s kind of like a PSD on Photoshop. I select my captures and drag them onto the canvas which looks like this:

The canvas is 1080p, the same as the captures but everything will be resized later. I originally captured 100 screenshots here, but I’ve decided to use only 40 in the end because I want to make a 540px width gif. If I used all 100 frames for a 540px gif it would end up being way over the 3mb limit and it wouldn’t work on Tumblr.

Now this is where the time consuming work comes in for me. Once my captures have been copied into the SPP file, they actually become layers which I have to turn into gif frames (if that makes sense). So at the moment they look like this

But I don’t have any actual frames yet at the bottom of the screen. So what I do next is go to the layers tab at the top of the screen and click “hide layers”, making them all invisible

Then basically what I do next is create a frame at the bottom and assign an individual capture to it by clicking the little grey square (making it visible again). So as you can see, my first frame is for my first capture/layer. The next frame will be the capture/layer on top of that.

So yeah, that means I create each frame individually. It’s veeery time consuming but you get quicker at it the more you do it (it’s also faster to do on a laptop touch pad rather than a mouse.). 

Once I’ve created all my frames, I reselect the colouring layers at the top so they’re visible on every frame. It should look like this

Next, you need to crop your gif and resize it. I want my gif to be 540px by 270px so I put 54.00 and 27.00 into the crop feature to get it accurate. This allows me to crop the canvas into the right dimensions.

Once I’ve cropped the canvas, I then go to the Image tab at the top and click “Image Size…” and set the image size to 540px by 270px. I usually ignore the Print Size bit.

540px is the best size for a full width Tumblr gif, anything bigger or smaller will make your gif look blurry. This gifset is a good guide for making sure Tumblr doesn’t blur or crop your gifs.

My gif is almost ready to be exported. But I want it to look clearer, so I sharpen all the layer/captures (yes, individually again). I have no settings for sharpening, but I find using the standard “Sharpen” effect under the “Effects” tab is enough. 

Once I’ve sharpened everything, I get to the colouring and exporting which is the biggest challenge for me. Photoplus’ options for exporting gifs are limited, so the only decent export options are these

“Web-safe” and “Ordered” makes the gif look like this

“Optimized” and “None” makes it look like this. Okay, but the background looks low quality and patchy

“Optimized” and “Error Diffusion” is the only one that to me, looks the best quality. That’s probably why it produces the bigger file size too (the gif below is 2.78mb)

But there’s other downsides to Error Diffusion which I’m still trying to figure out to this day.  Like how it makes parts of the gif “glitch” (that’s the only way I can describe it) or look extra fuzzy. The only way you can fix it is by playing around with the colouring. And by “playing” I mean adjusting and previewing until you want gouge ur eyes out :)

I think that’s why I like giffing The Terror so much, because the film they used has a grainy texture to it, making it easier to hide all my Error Diffusion sins. Though there’s been many times I’ve posted something and hoped no one’s noticed all the mistakes. 

Some general tips for colouring

Unless you’re going for a certain effect, emphasise on the colours that are already in the shot. In my gif  above for example, I turned up the blues and cyans.

Use Levels or Curves instead of Brightness and Contrast.

Zoom in on your gif to spot any Error Diffusion glitches.

Be mindful about whitewashing POC, especially if you’re following the pastel gif trend.

Look at how other people colour their gifs and use PSDs for reference but don’t rely on them too much.

Colouring can increase or decrease the gif file size. If you need to get below 3mb, try toning down super vibrant colours. If the shot you’re giffing is dark, make it a bit darker. If it’s light, make it a bit lighter. 

If all else fails, just make the gif black and white.

Reading all this back makes how I make gifs look like a nightmare lmao. But I’ve been doing it this way since like, 2012 and i love it. I started out making very bad Star Wars and Lady Gaga gifs but as time has gone on and I’ve gotten better, I’ve found I enjoy making things for smaller fandoms much more. I like that if I want a certain set or edit on my blog, I can just go and make it (with varying degrees of success) instead of waiting for someone else to do it.

You appreciate the work that goes into making a movie or show when you make gifs too. Like, you notice subtle little things in the actors performances or something the cinematography is trying to convey. You get to revisit a scene in detail and then share it with everybody else and if you’re lucky, watch them scream in the tags get some nice comments.

There’s lots of other stuff I like about making gifs but I’ve rambled on far too much so I’m just gonna shut up for now. But I think I’ve covered all the important stuff. I don’t know how much of a help I’ve been (there’s still stuff I don’t understand myself) but if there’s anything else you want to know just drop me a message. Good luck with your own gifs!! Just noting again for the avoidance of doubt, Arcturus is not an original character. However, he has the personality of cardboard and I am fixing that.

Role and Description

Arcturus is a member of the Blades VIP Protection Service, and his role is surveillance - meaning he's always got the birds-eye view on their current principal. During The Ruby Falls, he spends most of his time watching the security feeds for Cloud Ruler Manor. He is of average height and build, with buff coloured skin and shoulder-length yellow-blond hair.

Tell us, in one sentence, what your character’s ultimate goal is.

To ensure the security of the manor. It's their safe-house and the Blades can't risk any incursion which would put their principal in harm's way.

What actor would could you envision playing your character in a movie? (faceclaim)

Probably Owen Wilson; he's the only actor I can think of that has that colour hair, and could sport a tan the right colour.

What is their theme song?

I can't find anything that fits Q.Q

Which character trope do they fit the best?

Are they physically fit? What sport would they play?

Yes, he's fit - the Blades have a minimul level of fitness for all their operatives. He'd play a racket sport, like tennis or squash - something non-contact where you need to be aware of your target.

What is their spirit animal?

An owl. Silent, likes high places, able to turn its head 270° for full view, great eyesight, and knack for spotting details.

How about their Hogwarts house?

I have no idea about houses in the HP universe, and I don't really care to know.

What is their greatest character flaw? How does it affect their journey?

Despite his clear aptitude for his job, he's a very anxious person. Imposter syndrome through the roof, worried about letting people down, etc. It's not something I'd thought about, but there's potential to give him a small confidence arc (otherwise, he doesn't have much of a journey).

What scene with them are you looking forward to writing the most?

So far they only have one scene, which is explaining a security issue to the MC, but I'm looking forward to rewriting it because it's sweet.

Have they undergone any emotional trauma? How does it affect them/their choices?

Poor guy doesn't have much of a background story right now, but it's possible that his anxiety over missing something vital which threatens a life might stem from some event.

Do they use magic? What type is it and why is this the magic you chose for them?

This is a modern setting - no magic. In the original game, he doesn't exhibit any either, though he spends day and night in the same spot in the lookout tower with 0 dialogue options, so it's hard to tell.

Knowing me

Well, a person has his favourites in such a wide range of topics and it's impossible to sum it up in an anthology but know that I will tell some close secrets of mine through this prose. Well, the almighty shows no favourites and that's why all are equal in his eyes. Now you might say, that then why is someone so helpless and someone so happy. There is always diversity in integrity, the greatest example is India. So, though there is so many diversity in humans, God is dispassionate and listenes to all sooner or later. Common likings come out to be so similar. About my colour, it's blue; about an animal, it's cat; well I have about 20 fishes as pets; about food, it's paneer...well I am a foodie so it has a wide range, especially the specialized chef foods from youtube. But, even being a bengali, I don't like fish. Let's talk in detail.

If you ask my hobbies, I love to play music, watch tv, read books, watch movies. I am not a sporty guy but if you ask me about it, I used to prefer football first but now cricket. As gifts, I love them who give me books, perfumes and watches. Isn't it becoming too much informative? As I am a writer, so writing should be my hobby right? No, it isn't. I doesn't consider it as my hobby or job, it's my passion to let others know about me and to tell them every story that comes in my mind as my job offered by the God via this life as I believe every story has a capacity to influence someone or the other. Poems just come out of me as a flow, even I sometimes compose music for those. They just express my state of mind or my thoughts about a concerned topic.

Friends have been an inseparable version of my personality. Even I feel so bad on leaving my childhood place Farakka for two years for my senior secondary. I had to leave my friends but thanks to the technological miracle 'social media', we are in contact but that essence is missing but hoping to meet them after these two years or else if it would be too late, the laughter will have gone by then, just that we won't become strangers to recognize each other. I hope they will also be so delighted to see me. All my friends support me and we share such a strong bond especially, Surjendra, Deepayan, Debanshoo, Rohan but still there is one more with whom I feel a completely different persona whenever we meet, that's why I consider him as my best friend and he's Abir.

Someone has said so right, "Life is what happens when you're busy planning other things." Same is what's happening with me. I was dreaming of so many things and I couldn't realize when the time has passed on so much and till the time I came into my senses, it was so late. Leaving Farakka was one such thing which I couldn't resist even I wanted to. Now, I am in the process of being made a doctor. Well, one of my favourite subjects was always Biology due to SKD Sir, one of my favourite teacher. He used to teach it so interestingly without books and so many extra things and always answered our interesting questions regardless of its any connection with the syllabus. He used to ask questions before exams and never scolded if you were wrong. My favourite teacher was Proloy sir, who used to teach us physics. As a tribute, I would also like to say about my english teachers, Arnab sir, for whom I am a writer today or else I would know nothing of the language, and Subrata Sir, who supported me at every step. But, my favourite subject has always been history, which doesn't make me a backbencher, yes I am a topper which has brought me great praise from teachers and respect from friends and now this praise has become an addiction and this praise has also blocked my free-life friendship. This topper identity has brought me my favourite goddess Saraswati, it's not because I am a student and I pray for marks before exams, but it's a kind of 'Thank you'. I never used to study day and night, just only before exams and yes, I used to be very attentive in class and listen to what the teacher says, so I was just amazed that how without studying, I always used to get full marks. An atheist becomes a theist only when he sees something which has no logic.

I always wanted to be a historian and archaeologist, to do Ph.D in medieval history with one of my favourite language urdu(which I don't know) and my favourite Mughal, Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar. I want to discover many truths like the hidden Dwarka, the unraveled existence of the epic of Mahabharata and many other such unsolved mysteries. These discoveries are so exciting. I also rather wanted to teach students...So let's see what the future awaits for me, for now, I am a medical student.

Well about my other favourites, favourite cartoon show was Oswald, my IPL team is KKR, favourite cricketer Sourav Ganguly and Gautam Gambhir, my favourite fruit being guava, ice cream flavour none other than vanilla. I don't like cold drinks. I neither like mountain nor sea. As on vacation or travel, I only like to visit and tour historical places, such a great flavour of enigma and nostalgia can be expressed all around. Actually I like to be around many people, in a gossip, so love group travelling. Though by nature, I am shy and introvert but like to hear to talks of the folk and enjoy the company of people as I am a good listener and sharp observer and that's what makes me interested in mystery books like detective Feluda and mystery movies. I am an extreme lover of thrillers and Feluda. I can tell a lot about people by just seeing them and that's god gifted maybe. As in writing essays or long writeup, I was inspired by Rishi Kapoor's autobiography 'Khullam Khulla', where he gave so detailed descriptions. My favourite poets are Harivansh Rai Bachchan and William Wordsworth, the nature lover boy. My favourite season is kind of summer due to the pleasure of air-conditioners, a nature-villain right?

Well, this is about what youths like, but even on being a 17 year stud, I doesn't belong to this generation not in any way. If the world calls me a luddite, I accept this tag and yes, I am an old lover. My favourite directors are Hrishikesh Mukherjee(Hrishi Da), Satyajit Ray and Raj Kapoor. My favourite actor is Amitabh Bachchan and yes my only wish on deathbed is to meet him for once. I am probably the biggest fan of him. My favourite film is of course, Sholay and also Anand. Sholay is such a film with great dialogues, that one can watch it a 100 times, but still it will feel as a new film. Of Amitabh's roles, the best is in Sharaabi. Of this generation, I like Kartik Aaryan on screen, though Big B continues in this generation as well. As of classics, I like Mughal e Azam( best role of akbar), Shree 420, Kal aj aur kal. My favourite song is 'Gaadi Bula Rahi Hai' from Dost, such meaningful lyrics and also 'Jeena Yahan Marna Yahan' from Mera Naam Joker. I am a old bollywood and bengali cinema(Uttam Kumar and Soumitra Chatterjee) lover, those songs had so great melody and so meaningful lyrics. I am literally an old butch. Even if I see something of this generation, it is generally message-giving, biopic, mystery and crime thrillers. My favourite singer is Kishore Kumar, the man had so great versatility, sad to energetic songs. Mostly, I like sad and soulful songs. As in TV shows, my favourite has always been Adaalat (fan of KD Pathak), CID and KBC. Well, I also like Sumedh Mudgalkar in RadhaKrishna. Mahabharat on starplus was also my favourite once.

There's a lot to know more about myself because I am kind of unique and I prefer to have my flavors different which helps others to spot me out in the crowd of followers and trends. I don't follow favouritism and please don't follow me, yes you can admire me and get inspired by me. There are thousands of people I hope who think like me, great thinkers with philosophies and day dreaming, to them I say see me, do what I do, think what I think but at the end, add pinch of your own flavour to my style that makes it yours.

Pink Banana - Hello Fresh

For the last two days I have been a runner for a digital advertising campaign for Hello Fresh.

I was approached by the production company “Pink Banana”, of whom I have worked often with over the last 12 months, to be a runner for the shoot. I jumped at the chance for I can oversee every step of the process from directing to makeup. Being on the shoot also meant I had the opportunity to talk to many specialists regarding their career paths and experiences such as the universities they've been to as well as the type of work they pursue and how frequently they garner work (how stable their jobs are).

Before the shoot, Pink Banana also asked if I knew of any individuals who would like some on-set experience as well. I spoke to my good friend Lysander regarding the role and he jumped at the chance also. It was really great to talk to him over the two days for he not only gave me insight into university life at my first choice uni, but we were also able to discuss my Final Major Project and how he could potentially assist me in production. He was a great help for my project last year as an assistant on set and this year has great access to an abundance of equipment as well as great on set experience in regards to student short films. His experience will be very useful for he will be able to assist me with ironing out any potential kinks in production in case I want to develop a short film of some kind for my FMP.

Given my previous work with Pink Banana, they knew my skill set. Instead of performing regular running roles, much of my time on set was editing and choosing selects as they offloaded their SD cards. I found this aspect really fun for I was getting involved with critical parts of production as well as increasing my experience in the field of corporate editing. When I was editing, I had Hello Fresh’s marketing strategy document alongside me. The marketing strategy includes pieces of information such as costume, colour palettes as well as storyboards for the way in which they want their campaigns constructed. This document gave me strong insight into the level of planning these adverts take and attention to detail. The strong storyboard made the editing process really quick also. The more planning you do, the more efficient you will be on set as well as behind the computer editing the final piece. For my FMP, I will put a lot of time into the planning of my piece in order to make sure I don't have to reshoot scenes or even scrap the whole project altogether.

On set, I learnt a lot of the roles that people partook and how everyone linked together to create the production. Many of the people on set went to the same university as each other (Westminster) and spoke about how invaluable networking was at that stage. These productions cost a lot of money which means the final product needs to be perfect. Producers look to work with those they have shot with before and trust the most. The director worked with many of the actors on set as well as the DOP, gaffer and spark. Working with people you know and trust allows for more efficient work flows. This is why its important at university to network yourself as much as possible for if they trust you and you get on well with them, you're pretty much assured work once you leave university. 

The crew put a lot of effort into the lighting of the scenes as well as the set design. Every detail from cutlery to the temperature of light was considered and it allowed me to develop a critical eye of my own when looking for key aspects within frame. The treatment was to create a piece that had very light, clean tones and to have very minimal distracting elements within frame. Previously, I wouldn't have spotted the little details that may detract from the work but now that my eye has been trained, I can pick apart a scene more effectively and make sure nothing is overlooked. Not being critical onset can be costly. As they say, in post - garbage in, garbage out. Making sure everything is on point is incredibly important.

Overall, the two days on the field were really interesting. I saw a host of high-tech equipment, strong direction, lighting techniques, social dynamics with clientele, dealing with actors as well as the planning process behind a production of this magnitude. Editing the footage taken as well has given me a great confidence boost in my abilities for I was efficient and it was over and beyond the standard the crew were expecting. Being able to have direct impact on the production and being able to assist with creative direction was really enjoyable and I believe more work of this kind will come my way in the near future.
