i think a tasha yar haircut would be cute on you but also. you know. i have no idea what you look like and picture you as vicki. but if you think you would enjoy having one you should try it! you can always grow it out if you get tired of it

....I just want you to know that after I saw this ask, I spent a little while googling things like terms for face shapes and hair types before giving up on that rabbithole.

I then typed out some reply along the lines of, “I guess my hair is pretty similar to Vicki’s aside from the bangs,” and, “honestly sometimes I think it’s so flat and thin that I can’t afford to have any less of it on my head than there already is,” and I got all the way up to writing “thank god I wasn’t alive in the 80s, they would’ve hunted me for sport” and was totally ready to post that before I remembered that the only character I’ve ever wanted to cosplay specifically because I could actually pull it off and not just because she’s great is - wait for it - iconic 80s companion Ace McShane.... which brings me to the real question - how did SHE survive the 80s??? maybe it was just the baseball bat & nitro9, and missing large pieces of it to roam through outer space....

But yeah, of all the fictional characters I’ve ever encountered, she’s definitely like, the only one who seems to have the same type of hair as me - both in color and in the way it’s sort of wispy but not in the fun 70s feathered way. I generally try to keep mine shorter than Ace’s (actually pretty much the length of Vicki’s in my icon, weirdly enough) but also, I am very bad at remembering to get it cut as often as I’d like, so it does get to her length too every so many months, before I snap and run to a barber.

so I really have no idea if it’d look any good on me either! and I feel like I’m too self conscious & plain when it comes to style to do anything that bold without knowing I could get away with it - I would have to really snap... or maybe just find a picture of sophie aldred rocking a tasha yar....

Things I want from the new Ace Meets Thirteen Novel Coming Out

Ace to still casually carry around Nitro9 with her, when she uses it the Doctor just sort of rolls her eyes like ‘oh somethings never change’

Ryan on the other hand, freaks out like, “You Won’t Let Me Pick Up a Gun Against Soulless Robots and She Gets Bombs, What The Fuck”

Ace finds out the Doctor has always been keeping tabs on her and watching out for her, even in absentia through something like “I was watching Ace! I was there at Mumbai, I had never be so proud of you!” “Mumbai?” “Oh err, 5 years to early, but nevermind, when Mumbai happens know I’m proud”

Offhanded reference to baseball batting the Dalek, the gang does a triple take at the Doctor who just shrugs

Yaz is in love

Since I think Ace and the Doctor’s Past will be part of the novel I want a scene where Thirteen and Graham commiserate about what it’s like to parent a kid you met when already a teenager, a kid who already had hurts that couldn’t be taken away

“You know when you were traveling with me I always thought of myself as your father, and I would really really love if you thought of me as your mum”

One last nose tweak. For old times sake

Wait First before their Past is resolved I want Thirteen to try to tweak her nose only for Ace to pull away, then at the end for the nose tweak gesture to be completed
