Nightmare Baby and Baby Warrior

When Hal had gotten the phone call at base that Lizzie had gotten into another fight he'd wanted to throw his phone. Since the divorce his daughter had been acting out, the five year old constantly fighting with someone. As is, she's in Coast's public school instead of the on-base school for soldiers' kids because he'd hoped that the change in scenery would help. 

As he gets out of his car and walks through the halls of Oa Elementary he guesses not. She'd just started that day at the school and already got into a fight. Hal isn't even sure what they'd do to punish a five year old. Suspension? Detention? Take away the toys? As is he's not giving her any dessert for the rest of the week or any new toys.

He steps into the main office area and quickly spots Lizzie. She has her head ducked down, muttering to the little red headed girl next to her. The little red head has odd looking birthmarks on her face and is grinning at whatever Lizzie is saying. Both have scuffed up shoes and clothes, a small tear in Lizzie's new skirt. 

Okay, was Lizzie fighting her or...he trails off, spotting the six little boys sitting on the opposite side of the room. If those two took out six boys he may just have to give Lizzie back desert. 

"Ah, Captain Jordan? Lizzie's daddy?" asks the secretary, a friendly woman named Arisia Rrab. "Principle Ganthet will speak to you in a few minutes.We're just waiting for Lupita's father to come, Guy Gardner, a kindergarten teacher at Ysmault Elementary."

"Yeah, I'm Lizzie's Papa," Hal says, scanning the room. "Ms. Rrab, you weren't very clear. Exactly, who was Lizzie fighting? And why?"

"Principle Ganthet will explain," she demurs. 

"They were bein' mean to Lupi!" shouts Lizzie, apparently hearing his question. "They said her face looks weird!"

"Lizzie sweetie..." Hal trails off, not certain what to say. No, don't stand up for someone else? "You shouldn't use violence just because someone's being mean."

"Mama said it was okay!"

"Sweetheart, no," Hal says, shutting his eyes against memories of Jill and their last fight. 

"Arisia? Why's Lupita in for fighting?" asks a gruff voice from behind Hal, startling the man from his thoughts of what to do.

"She and Lizzie Jordan got into a fight with several other boys who were supposedly being rude to Lupita about her birthmarks," Arisia says delicately.

Hal looks over his shoulder at the red headed man behind him and finds himself at a loss for words and finding it very hard not to give the other father a leer. The man has shaggy red hair and is built like a bull, sturdy and strong. The little girl, Lupita is staring at him like he's the sun.

"Again?" Guy asks softly, a look of sadness crossing his face. "Wait, Lizzie who?"

"'m Lizzie!" Lizzie says excitedly with a wave, her little white bangs bobbing in excitement. 

"Okay," he says slowly, taking in the two little girls sitting together versus the six boys, who now that Hal is taking a closer look do not seem to have come out for the best. 

"If both you and Captain Jordan will follow me, you can talk to Principle Ganthet now," she says, standing up.

Both men follow her into the Principle's office.

Hal sighs to himself as he walks outside, Lizzie's hand firmly in his own. She's got a strangle hold on Lupita's hand with the other and both girls are happily babbling with each other. Since it was a first time fight for both girls and the boys had started it (apparently there'd been issues in the past with that group making comments about Lupita's birth marks and Lizzie's temper had snapped) they got off with a warning. Being five also helped.

"Lizzie, we need to go home, it's almost time for dinner at Uncle Jim's house," Hal says, hoping to coax her away. "And do you mind exchanging numbers so we can set up play dates for the girls?" With real dates for ourselves as well, he adds silently, looking at Guy.

"Sure," the red head says with a smile. "I think we'd get a mutiny if we didn't. Gimmie your phone."

Hal passes over his phone and watches the other man program in his number, all while keeping an eye on the girls who seem to be plotting again. He does not like the look of the gestures Lizzie is making. He's the first to admit his baby girl is kinda evil (though he's gonna smack Ollie if he doesn't stop referring to Lizzie as nightmare baby) but a partner in crime could cause some serious issues. Or keep her calm, but he's more inclined to think Lizzie will just drag Lupita into chaos.

"So, maybe this weekend then?" Guy says with a smile. 

"Yeah, maybe," Hal says. "Lizzie, we need to go." He tugs her hand slightly, hoping she lets go of Lupita.

"Bye Lupi! I'll see you tomorrow," Lizzie says. She gives Lupita a big kiss on the cheek, making the little girl go almost as red as her hair.

"Bye," squeaks out Lupita, giving Lizzie a tiny wave as she buries her face into her dad's pants. 

"I'm gonna marry Lupi," Lizzie informs Hal as they get into the car. 

"Okay Lizzie," Hal says with a smile. 

"I am!"

I had a really weird dream last night..

I dreamt I had a baby and my mom and I lived in the trailer I grew up in.. All I remember feeling in the dream is how much I loved that baby. It was so fucking weird. It threw up on me.. and we lived in High Island! :/ fuck that. That's like a damn nightmare.
