Give me an AU where the Nie parents *live*, Nie Mingjue is just a Da-ge and not a surrogate parent, and Jiang Cheng has to meet and impress not one but *two* potential mothers-in-law.

💠Princess of Qinghe

Summary:

Wei Ying had never expected that she would lose her parents this way. While they were crossing the land of Qinghe, Wei Ying and her parents were attacked by a pact of strange wolf-like Yao. Overwhelmed by numbers, her parents lost and therefore had lost their lives. Wei Ying who had been hidden in a tree hollow, haven’t even realized she was orphaned and thus left all alone in this world.

Soon, a tall uncle with sharp eyes and a big sword found Wei Ying. She was all shivering and holding back her tears. The man then took Wei Ying to his home. He has a very big house with lots of people and big training grounds. Everybody seems to call him the Nie sect leader.

Wei Ying’s only hope that she would be allowed to stay for a few days until she is ready to travel again, now only her with her donkey. But it seems Nie-zongzhu had a different plan in mind.

How would her fate become after this…?

Hopefully the heavens would have mercy on this pitiful five year old little girl…

Wei Ying was stunned, because His voice was so adorable! It is so husky in contrast to his soft-looking face. Wei Ying was staring stupidly, she wanted to pinch that bao plump cheeks. Without realizing, she also forgot to reciprocate the introduction. Lan Wangji was flushed from all the staring. He lowered his eyes. his ears seemed a little pink, peeking through his hair.

“Lan Wangji.” He said instead of addressing her. “Where the hell were you putting your hands on?” he spat out. “That’s my sister you are touching.” What?! What the hell is Dage saying?! This is acutely embarrassing. What if Lan Wangji doesn’t want to be her friend? It was painstakingly hard to get to this point! “Dage! Zhanzhan was being good to A-Ying. We were only hugging!” Nie Mingjue’s eyes narrowed. “Zhan— what?”

“Don’t just hug any boys just like that. You don’t know what their intentions are.” Wei Ying whipped around and retorted. “It was Lan Zhan! I only hugged him because it was him! He had been very gloomy ever since I saw him. I was just- just-” she paused, “just consoling him.” “Hm? What were you doing with Lan-er-gongzi, A-Ying?” Nie Huaisang came out of nowhere. Wei Ying jolted and growled at him. He always does that! Like adding oil to fire, she’s deeply upset now. Wei Ying whipped her body. “Nothing! I was doing nothing! You guys are the reasons I can’t have friends!” Then she stomped down the hall in fast pace, wanting to leave them both behind. Wei Ying hmphed irately. Honestly, why are older brothers so nosy! Hmph!

if nie huaisang had a twin he wouldn't just be one of those twins who occasionally swaps places with their sibling — no, no one would even know that he had a twin.

(no one except for qinghe nie, of course.)

the nie twins would be frighteningly dedicated to keeping up the act so that they would only need to do half the work and attend half the classes/conferences/events/etc.

(notice that i didn't say half the training, since unfortunately da-ge is more than aware that he has two brothers, not one.)

the poor lans at cloud recesses would feel like they're absolutely losing their minds since they know they just saw nie huaisang in class with lan qiren less than five minutes ago, but somehow he's now by the river on the other side of cloud recesses?!

can he teleport? can he just move really fast? can he time-travel? is one of them an illusion or a doppelganger? how can he be in two places at the same time?! no one knows!!

and this of course continues at sect conferences, as well — someone will see nie huaisang sitting by his brother in the meeting hall, but when they leave the room and walk down the hall to go outside, there he is peacefully reading a book out in the gardens! how?!

the only way they can really be differentiated is by their sabers, which are similar but not quite the same — but that's irrelevant, since nie huaisang is never seen carrying a saber anway, so how is anyone (outside the sect) to notice?

they would be absolutely obsessed with making sure that no one outside the sect ever saw them both at the same time, making an effort to disguise the other in ordinary disciple robes, style their hair differently, and even carry a saber any time that the two of them have to be near each other at the same time.

(but only when they have to be near each other — otherwise, they just make an effort to never be seen together.)

both of the twins go to the indoctrination, but one of them goes in disguise.

no one's going to notice if a random little nie disciple goes missing, but they will notice if the nie heir himself disappears. so while one of them stays in place, the other goes exploring...

and when the disastrous night hunt happens, they're able to get help.

(—and maybe nie mingjue himself arrives just in time to wrest that stupid cursed sword away from wei wuxian before he can get any bright ideas, saving us all a lot of heartbreak in the long run...)
