What do you make of Rhaenyra asking about Mysaria’s scar and her subsequent non-answer from Ep 2? I’ve read F&B but I feel like I was totally missing something, whether it was a reference or foreshadowing or symbolism. Love your takes on HOTD and I request your wisdom

hmmm i interpreted it as— rhaenyra has just now witnessed daemon’s violence and has very recently been victim to his domestic violence. mysaria comes in and seems to clock this and confesses she was also mistreated by daemon. in her whole backstory monologue she talks about how she tried to rise from being just a woman to be sold, attaching herself to more powerful violent men, then eventually forging her own path, possibly doing morally dubious things with good intentions— only for none of it to matter in the end. she knows this is also rhaenyra’s story, and is trying to leverage some empathetic connection so as to be freed. (and eventually this empathetic connection causes her to return to rhaenyra (which will ultimately doom her oops))

so i thought rhaenyra might be asking, did daemon give you that scar? (esp bc the manifestation of his violence towards her was choking!) and whether he did or not, it’s a recognition that they have faced similar things and might be able to form a trust based on that which is an absolutely FASCINATING way to adapt their relationship since we dont really get much about *why* theyre allies in the book. love love love that theyre giving mysaria motivations and making her a real character lol

I’ve been a self-employed artist since 2017. The current economic climate is making that *very* difficult and I may well be giving up my beautiful business soon, but for now, I’m still clinging on by my fingernails. I’ve survived a lot longer than many of my colleagues and I’ve been VERY grateful and fortunate. (Yes, my profile photo is actually me- shock horror!)

I make fan-based clothing, bags, and cushion covers at FullMoonFandom. and I make fan art and children's home decor, all hand painted on high quality medite wood at Lioncub Creations. This shop has been my main business for the past 8+ years and is my bread & butter. It's been hit HARD by the cost of living crisis and it's literally getting worse every month.

AO3: I write Good Omens fanfic under the username imposterssyndrome, I’ve been writing since November 2023 after my trauma therapist recommended it and it’s been the best thing I’ve ever done (especially after my mother told 8yo me that my writing was shit and I literally never wrote another piece of fiction until age 40). I skew angsty, love historical anything and researching stuff. Did I mention Here Be Angst?

Wavelengths & Frequencies - I'm writing this wonderfully fun enemies-to-lovers human AU with the ineffable @shadesofecclescakes. This is a DJ AU and bloody hell does it ever help that Eccles is a professional DJ, because I would have given up in the first chapter otherwise. This longfic will be funny, VERY piney, a teensy-tiny bit angsty (but not too much), smutty, and just generally a whole lot of fun. And it's got footnotes! And newspaper articles! And texts, and tweets, and an awful attempt at a forum, and and and...Rated E (and P for Piney-As-Fuck). WIP, published every *now totally off schedule, we publish when we can*, due to be completed by *who knows when*.
