Bella gets bitten during New Moon by Victoria, the woman had intended to kill her but was fought off by the pack of wolves, they circled her and whined as she convulsed in pain, the venom seeping through her until her eyes turn a bright red.
The red headed woman had gotten to her in the water after she had cliff jumped, water mingled with her spilled blood as she crawled onto the sandy beach.
She collapsed right behind the snarling pack, Victoria still stood in the water with her blood dripping from her lips.
Theres a slight exception in the treaty-- the wolves opting to blame the Cullens instead of her, but she can feel the distance growing between her and Jacob, she was everything he despised now.
At least hanging around the wolves gives her a better grip on her newfound strength, even as their acidic blood made her believe she had a better grip on her self control than she actually did.
She wandered home in the dark, the familiar smell of Charlie-- Beer and sweat-- rung heavy in the air, but she assumed it was just because he lived there.
He was gone planning the funeral for Harry Clearwater, right?
She silently slipped through the door, her body freezing like the marble statue she'd became when the scent of fresh blood hit her nose.
Charlie sat on the couch, a white can of beer in his hand as his crossed onto the coffee table, a distance look in his eyes despite the TV blaring in front of him.
It was the most delicious smell she'd ever scented, pure ambrosia thrumming beneath the skin of her father.
Instincts left her thoughts far behind, enough she barely heard the rapidly approaching vampire as she knelt on the floor, blood staining her lips and digging underneath her fingernails.
It was only when the familiar scent of Alice filled her nose did her bleary, euphoric haze in her newly red eyes finally snap to focus.
She looked between the horrified expression of what use to be her friends face, down to the spill of red on the marble floor of the kitchen, a bloody police badge resting in her cold hand.
She'd killed her own father, for no reason other than to have the sweet blood under her skin drip down her burning throat.

i've said it before but it will forever and always make me insane that jacob's ending is to join the cullens for the sake of bella not having to give anything up. they find out jake will be immortal & tied to renesmee forever, so bella gets to smile & say "my family is finally complete! ^-^" but jake already HAS a family. he has a father and 2 sisters. quil, embry, seth and sam are like his brothers. jacob and leah were planning to run away together. he's always been welcome in emily's home, sue has been a family friend since before his birth. bella abandons her mortality by choice because she feels no connection to the people around her, but jacob has really strong bonds. it's clear that every character we meet in la push is like family to him, he's an active member of the community. jake would've graduated high school and been a mechanic, would've grown into a young man. a good friend, a fun uncle, a present son. he's set up to have such a rich life. and he's just magically compelled to give that up. beyond his control, he loses sight of everything, because his high school crush's baby is now the singular most important thing to him. he's perpetually 18 with his perpetually 18 year old girlfriend, running around vancouver or alaska or wherever with the girl who friendzoned him at 16 & her in-laws (who were antagonistic to him for months). and i'm just supposed to say omg yay now he doesn't have to let go of bella! everyone is happy! it's complete madness
#like even putting aside the utter insanity of him imprinting on a newborn (WHICH IS HARD TO PUT ASIDE) it is still CRAZY#like bella was never gonna do anything but be a vampire. from the moment she meets them the only ending for her is to join the cullens.#throughout the series the only thing we see tying bella to humanity is jacob. that's the conflict for her. thats what she must forfeit.#ofc there's charlie but SHE makes the decision that giving that relationship up is worth it to her#bella was never going to do anything else but jake WAS. jake HAD a whole life ahead of him that was taken from him#HE HAS NO CHOICE. HE'S JUST COMPELLED TO DO IT#ugh. jacob can be the Worst sometimes but ultimately he's a victim of the narrative fr#being kinda shitty & unable to get over a girl at 16 shouldn't condemn u to giving up literally every other relationship in ur life#also the phrasing of 'the girl who friendzoned him' in this post makes it sound like i think bella is wrong for that & to be clear i don't#i just mean to emphasize like. how young they are & how trivial their relationship drama would seem to them years down the line#jacob black#twilight#the twilight saga#twilight blog#bella swan#jacob twilight#quil ateara#seth clearwater#leah clearwater#embry call#sam uley#stephanie meyer#smeyer#new moon#eclipse#breaking dawn#twilight critical#mine#jake

headcanon: the boring perfect self control vampire bella thinks she has is a LIE and at one point she caught human scent mid-hunt and snapped. it made her so wild she had to be restrained to the point where things got ugly
i know edward would never dare to do it and meyer would never dare write it and in canon newborn vamp bella would be far stronger than him...
actually. you know who would be stronger than one young vampire? two old vampires. and who would act practical in a critical situation? emmett
imagine edward and bella heading out for a hunt and emmett being like "do you guys mind if i tag along? i feel like snacking". bella's a little mad at the prospect of suddenly having a third wheel (homegirl wasn't planning on just. hunting) but alice gets a weird hunch and goes "no, no, em should go with you" ok nostradamus. he's going.
fast forward they're in the mountain. bella finds having emmett third-wheeling is not half bad. in emmett's head, lowkey it's bella who's the third wheel after so many decades of him hunting together with edward. but nevertheless, it's so fun with her around. all is good until they catch the scent of an entire group of friends hiking just a couple of miles from here, away from all civilization. emmett and edward stop in their tracks, ready to turn around. bella, her guard down, loses it and stars running towards the group, so they have no choice but to charge at her. while strugging to keep her in place, they try to talk her down but she doesn't listen. she doesn't care, she's strong enough to fight them off, and she fights and claws and hisses and breaks bones of whoever gets in her way because there are so many pulses just a few minutes' run away from her and their scent is so sweet and burning and calling, calling, calling to her
while struggling to restrain her, emmett grunts "we have to disarm her". edward catches the image in his head and shouts "no! you can't literally disarm bella!". well, how the hell do you expect us to stop her from massacring all those hikers? we'll just put her back together afterwards. duh!, emmett thinks, and knows he has to act fast so he goes in while bella's busy yanking away from edward's grip and tears off a limb. or two. all 3 of them may or may not be screaming.
a few moments later edward's pinning bella to the ground, holding her face between his palms, forcing her to look at him. her thrashing is not so effective with limited body parts. part of him wants to yell at emmett but that's kind of low priority. he's holding on to the last of his composure while he looks down at bella's feral expression and chants 'baby. i'm so sorry but i'll give you your leg back after you calm down a bit. i won't be able to outrun you if you go chasing after those people now. please calm down. i love you. hold your breath'
just then she listens, stops breathing and her vision refocuses. for the first time she realizes she was on her way to slaughter a bunch of strangers and she broke the arm of the man she loves at least three times when he tried to stop her. she wants to open her mouth and apologize but that will require her to breathe and possibly go crazy with thirst again. so she stares back at edward's panicked eyes and nods at him, her own red eyes just as full of terror.
then she looks over his shoulder and sees emmett waving her severed leg in the air like it's a baseball bat. "hey, did you know that rose wears the same shoe size?"
#this has been brewing in my head since i reblogged that first hunt bella fanart last week#i meannn... wasn't that exactly what bella was scared of becoming once she was a newborn?#twilight#bella swan#edward cullen#emmett cullen#breaking dawn#gore tw ?#also imagine them coming back home and emmett rushing to tell everyone what happened like it's the funniest story ever lol#alice already knows but she's like 300% chill because she already knew nothing too critical would happen because em was there#jasper's patting bella on the back congratulating her for it being her first time having limbs torn off and later reattached#(while in the background eb are probably just so stressed that eventually carlisle has to sit them down and therapize them)#(during that session jasper has to sit between them holding their hands sending chill vibes kgjhjf)#ok sorry i'm sorry i'll stop now#twilight renaissance#also. ALSO the image of two 6+ ft tall guys being unable to deal with a short ass 5'4" girl. i dig this

Am I alone in thinking the original reason Carlisle had a supply of blood in Breaking Dawn was in case Bella needed a transfusion? Bella and Renesmee do end up drinking it, but I don't think that was its original purpose.
The reason I think this is because Rosalie says specifically they have a bunch of "type O negative laid aside for Bella." Why would they need a specific type if it were for drinking? The only reason the type would matter is if it were intended for human Bella who might need it for medical reasons.
And later Seth comments that Carlisle's going to buy more blood because Bella's drinking all the O negative and Carlisle's worried about depleting the stockpile. Again, the specific type makes me think this is about a potential transfusion.
Also, in that weird "Blood Bank" deleted scene from Twilight, it's revealed Bella's blood type is O negative.
“Alice and I knocked over the hospital blood bank, ” he admitted, seeming embarrassed. “It was her fault-she refused to hunt coyotes or rattlesnakes.” I giggled, picturing her distaste. “I hoped you stayed away from the O-negative, ” I tried unsuccessfully to look severe. He glared, upset by my reference to those first anxious hours-of which I had no memory-when the hospital ran out of my blood type and had to have more rushed up by helicopter from Tucson. “We chose AB-positive, of course.” “Of course, ” I agreed. “Those lucky stiffs can use anybody’s blood.” He scowled at me. He considered it all part of my hazard-attracting nature-and therefore my fault-that I would have the most difficult blood to supply.
Blood transfusions were a big thing in Dracula so that could have been an interesting reference/throwback to granddaddy of vampire novels if SM were more vampire genre savvy.
#it wasn't intended for anyone -- not even newborn!bella -- to drink IMO#but then shit got weird lol

i very honestly and wholeheartedly love the fanon interpretation of emmett and bella as 'the chaos twins' and i will always need more of them™
#it's so funny to me how the fandom gave bella a whole ass personality and said#'ok emmett's your brother now and y'all are going to torture your husband and his wife w your antics. have fun'#i love reading little things about how they interact with each other after (and before tbh) bella becomes a vamp#like - we got emmett & newborn!bella a couple times in breaking dawn but the fanon additions and modern!au/continuations are always funny#anyhow#the chaos twins#emmett cullen#bella swan#bella cullen#emmett & bella#twilight#sorry st friends - i'm back on my twilight bullshit#twilight saga

Twilight Hot Take: Breaking Dawn Absolutely Needed To Be About Bella’s Pregnancy and Renesmee
Today’s meta is brought you to by:

So Clown OP and others of their ilk believe that Breaking Dawn could have had a different—and better—plot focusing on Bella’s immortal life and the Volturi threat. I’ll cover the reasons why this would not be satisfactory here, of course. But I also want to cover other potential alternative plots that would not be great either. This is because Breaking Dawn absolutely needed to be about Bella’s pregnancy and Renesmee.
Think about it. Without the Renesmee plot, what would BD be about in the first place? What internal or external conflicts would it center around that would tie into the main love story? The alternatives I can see are not especially satisfying.
Darthmouth After the Honeymoon?
After Bella and Edward had figured out how to be intimate, Bella voiced that, actually, she wouldn’t mind that semester of college Edward was eager for her to have after the honeymoon. Edward is predictably 🫠 about the fact that it was, indeed, sex all along that would make Bella defer her vampire life.
So Bella and Edward attend university. Cool. How long do you do think Bella would have gotten into trouble with her canonical danger magnet? A month? A week? Also, hanging around with a vampire inevitably attracts other vampires. And then there are the human dangers. Edward could handle those easily, but then we’d get a repeat of the themes of the earlier books—Edward saving Bella, argument over leaving Bella as a human, Bella learning more vampire/supernatural lore, etc. We couldn’t even have another love interest—unless this one, too, has supernatural powers to compete with Edward. We’d want to avoid all that needless repetition.
Best case scenario, Bedward’s college years are fine and nothing of interest happens. Worst case scenario, Bella could very well have been reinforced in her need to become a vampire, which, yeah, duh. The Volturi could still be a problem, certainly, but one easily resolved by just making Bella into a vampire, which was their demand anyway. No muss, no fuss, and thus no conflict.
Vampirism After Dartmouth?
Okay, forget Dartmouth. We could just have Bella being turned by Edward fresh off the honeymoon. We could have Bella struggling with her newborn bloodlust and maybe discovering how she could use her shield. This would be interesting enough; that sequence was compressed in BD proper. But even that conflict would not be enough for a whole book.
For one thing, it would not tie in to Bella and Edward’s relationship in a critical way. Edward no longer is stronger than Bella, and their relationship can finally be one of equals, leaving only some loose ends regarding Bella’s self control. The Barrier to their relationship would be completely gone, leaving nothing in its place. The Volturi can’t be the villains this time, since this is what they wanted in the first place.
The only external conflict would be the Quileute wolves, who could attack the Cullens for violating the treaty. At the beginning of BD, though, Sam was prepared to take the spirit of the treaty and not the letter of it (i.e., it was Bella’s informed decision) and leave the Cullens alone. Besides that, forcing a war between the two groups would not have been natural, considering their alliance in Eclipse. And needless to say, it would really have been bad writing on Meyer’s part to force these otherwise sympathetic characters to be full-throated antagonists.
A New Vampire Crime?
An obvious solution would be to replace Renesmee with another vampire crime Bella/Edward/Cullens are accused of, one that the Volturi would eagerly seize upon to justify defeating the Cullens. But which one?
Bella could slip and eat some humans, but the Cullens are very good at such cover-ups. We have seen the Volturi usually doesn’t bother with a couple of humans missing. Perhaps if Bella were really out of control, yes. But let’s face it, Bella is definitely the type to adjust well to vampire life and even have good control over her bloodlust in general (see: her aversion to blood in her human life). Adding some casualties would not change this base fact.
What about someone accusing the Cullens of creating newborns? The Volturi cleaned up the last batch, and Victoria and Riley are dead. They are not going to believe the Cullens would dip into newborn army creation. Maybe Maria comes back, goes to her old ways, and the Cullens get blamed for it?
I don’t know, but it’s all very unsatisfactory. At least Renesmee could plausibly be taken for an immortal child. The Volturi are corrupt, but they are still the police. They don’t intentionally start trouble; they always wait for an excuse.
Tanya Drama?
This actually has the most promise as an alternative plot. Yeah, I’m not joking.
Bella’s insecurities may not magically go away once she becomes a vampire. If, during Bella’s newborn struggle, Tanya tries to tempt Edward away, it would allow Bella to fight for her man, exactly like Edward did when Bella was pursued by Jacob. Bella could finally accept herself as worthy of Edward. Also, it would tie in to the Bella/Edward love story, which is really what this whole saga is about.
That said, Tanya is no Jacob. Edward would never go for her in any way or even be tempted. The prospect is only in Bella’s insecure little head. It would also do Tanya so damn dirty, and that’d be a shame, since she is the BAMF matriarch of her coven. Meyer not making her into a real love interest/obstacle was a great decision on her part, one the fans have sadly not given her credit for.
A New Villain?
I guess Meyer could have conjured up another external conflict the Cullens would have to battle, this time with Bella as a fighter.
The only positive thing about this plot would be that it’d show Vampire Bella in action, perhaps making some newborn mistakes, but saving the day in the end. She could develop her shield and everything. Maybe she could be the one to save Edward again. Fight for her man in a literal way, as it were.
But yeah, this would be dumb to conjure up this antagonist out of thin air. Maybe someone had a long-time grudge against Edward? Carlisle? It’s just way too late in the series to introduce a brand new antagonist. Meh.
Just Keep Renesmee FFS
Twilight is not a full-fledged fantasy. It’s a romance first, a coming-of-age tale second, and a fantasy a distant third. Anything that does not tie into the Bella/Edward star-crossed love story would be boring and irrelevant, and only antis who hate the icky romance would prefer it that way.
A high-risk pregnancy plot does tie into the love story, and yes, it’s more than just external conflict. Bella’s Cinderbella ways rear their ugly head yet again in her wanting to birth Renesmee at the risk of her life, while Edward almost succumbs to his self-loathing (he initially hates Renesmee not only because she is hurting Bella, but because it is his fault Bella is in danger of yet another monster like himself). They are able to resolve this conflict, thanks in large part to Jacob, interestingly enough.
And thanks to the immortal child misunderstanding, as well as her unique hybrid qualities, Renesmee also attracts danger. That’s why I am interested in a Renesmee book, if just because it gives Meyer a chance to explore hybrids and being in between species and even cultures—both its advantages and disadvantages.
For the bulk of the saga, Bella being human and Edward being a vampire were the main Barrier to their being together properly. In changing the plot of Breaking Dawn, you would 1) artificially lengthen Bella’s human years in order to keep the Barrier, thus repeating the first book or 2) changing Bella into a vampire and thus coming of agency and having an eternity of hot vampire sex. Either way, the series would experience a genre break, veering from paranormal Bildungsroman romance to just plain fantasy. And that would have truly been bad writing.
#twilight#twilight meta#cristina’s hot takes#cristina has an unpopular opinion#i mean if you guys have any alternative breaking dawn plots better than what we got i’d like to hear them#but yeah renesmee was the way to go all things considered#i think the problem was that meyer stuffed both the pregnancy and the volturi threat into one book#it could have easily been two with more emphasis on bella adjusting to her newborn life#so that the learning curve could be more developed

ok I’m reading the twilight saga for the first time EVER in my twenties because my mother banned me from reading it growing up lol 🙈 I have seen the movies but I’m reading for the first time now and having SO MUCH FUN
but I do have a genuine question I’m hoping a more experienced fan could answer or clarify for me!
TLDR: is Renee meant to be understood as having some sort of neurodivergence or mental disability? I thought she was just aloof and childish (especially given how parentified Bella is on both sides cough cough book charlie) but some lines are giving me pause (screenshots below) is this canon? just coded? is there fan consensus? Or is it just weird characterization from Meyer?
lmk guys if you’re out there!! thank you!! 🤍🤍

Dare I say Bella struggling with her desire to be platonic friends with Jacob vs his romantic desires and the feud between The Cullens and the werewolves was one of the more interesting aspects of the books.
#I mean it all gets resolved with Jacob falling in love with I mean imprinting on Bella's newborn baby but#like her platonic love for him was real

team jacob forever - and like not even for bella bc she treated him terribly (she treated edward terribly too but that’s not this post’s point, like she chose to kiss jacob right in front of edward while she was engaged to edward- ?!?!). if given the choice between a cold vampire that initially wanted to k!ll bella when he first met her that gaslights everyone or a werewolf that’s a sweet and genuine soul that would do anything for you and is basically a personal heater (also i’m sorry but stephanie meyer was so crazy for writing something so out of character as if jacob( who was not only raised by billy black himself but also was raised by his two older sisters after their mom passed) would ever not ask for consent to kiss bella, that was so ooc for him to do, meyer literally just put that in there i’m convinced because jacob was winning over everyone’s hearts because he was the better choice and readers could tell) , i’m picking the one that actually has a heart and the one that can flirt. (new moon him makes me swoon so hard oh my-)
on top of everything else, jacob won me over by his hand placement when he did kiss bella, this man is the king of putting his hands and arms on his s/o’s waist and that’s canon. the eclipse kiss is literally a dream (bella just sucks bc why would you ever kiss anyone right in front of your soon to be husband like what) , (dw jacob i can treat you better!!)
also bella completely used jacob in new moon, for her own personal gain too- she didn’t hang out with him until edward left her and she constantly( through eclipse and the breaking dawns) uses his love for her as an advantage into getting him to do what she wants and jacob had every right to be sassy, broody and pissed off w/ her after he transforms (also he was quite literally going through a transformation mentally, physically and emotionally at this point, cut him some slack)
in conclusion, he’s my dream guy and deserves more respect and more than he was given and written (stephanie meyer why did you have to have him imprint on bella’s demon child Reebok, what was your reason???)
#team jacob#team jacob girlies RISE#cat watches twilight#edweird is canonically a creepy old grandpa#what he says to bella about caffeine is CRAZY#“i’ve been watching you sleep for months w/o your knowledge”ok stalker-#bella and edward belong together solely for the fact that they both treat others so badly#edward praising bella for not consuming bl00d as a newborn vampire but not giving rosalie credit for doing it for 80+ years is crazy#like rosalie literally murdered her 🆎users and had to drag emmet to carlisle and never consumed once#jacob black is the loml#cat reads twilight

Midnight - Bellamione
The clock struck midnight - silently, a new charm to prevent waking the baby - and Bellatrix sighed.
Delphi had been nursing on and off since bedtime, and all she wanted was to satisfy her hunger so they could finally sleep. She cradled the baby, whispering soothing words and pleas to please, just sleep.
Hermione returned to the bedroom, bringing a mug of warm chamomile tea to relax Bellatrix, and placing it into her spare hand.
‘Any sign of settling her?’ She asked. Bellatrix shook her head.
‘It can’t be much longer.’ Hermione assured her. She stroked Delphi’s forehead as she nursed.

I can't stop thinking about twilight but in modern timeline and Bella really wanting to die. Like can you imagine the cullens being all mysterious and all that but every emo/goth/alternative teen knows they're vampires and are thinking about if they burn in the sun and Edward is always so confused as why so many kids picture him and his siblings burning?? He's also not talking to anyone about this. And then boom bella comes and the only thing she's talking about is Shakespeare and how meaningless life is and every friend group as that kid so Jessica and all adopt her and Bella being the bi icon that she is is straight up saying to "Alice is weird" "yes but hot" and calls Rosalie "a baddie" everyone agrees silently
#ki thinks#twilight what if's#gen z bella swan has my heart#everyines just calling carlisle dr daddy or a grey anatomy name#they all collectively hate this generation#alice knows why she lived this long know#emmet calls himself dudebro#the whole newborn army thing wouldn't happen#i love this

5. DARK CLOAKS
THREE MONTHS LATER
SEATTLE UNDER SIEGE - DEATH TOLL RISES AGAIN.
I grabbed the newspaper that had just been refilled by the paperboy. Fortunately for him, he was long gone by now.
Oh great. Riley was going to lose it when he saw this. Someone else was going to get an earful. When I meant earful, I meant getting their limps ripped off.
Glancing at the date on the paper, I saw it was June 11th. It was strange how time seemed to slip away so fast, even for a vampire. I unfolded the paper and scanned the headlines, my eyes widening in shock as I read the front page story. Humans would think it was gang related violence and that was why the crime rate was getting higher by the minute.
But in reality, it was the newborns doing a real crappy job of disposing the evidence.
I found Bree standing in the shadow behind the corner of a shabby threestory building, trying to be inconspicuous while waiting for someone, meaning me, to make a decision. Not wanting to meet anyone's eyes, Bree stared at the wall beside her instead.
Kristie and Jen did inform him about my sudden new ability, the mysterious purple glow that came out of me when they were attacking Bree and I. And of course, he informed the given information to Victoria, who was very surprised by my additional power alongside being good at hiding. I was starting to feel pretty good about my gift, until Riley gave me a job.
He had sent me to some babysitting duty while the newborns were on their hunt.
The ground level of the structure housed a record store that had long been out of business; the windows, damaged by weather or street disturbances, were covered with plywood. Above it were vacant apartments, devoid of the usual sounds of slumbering inhabitants. It came as no surprise to me that there were no signs of human presence - the place appeared as though it could crumble with a strong gust of wind. The buildings across the dim, narrow street were equally dilapidated.
This was the typical sight for a night out in the city.
Babysitting the newborns was something I despised, and tonight had only confirmed my disdain. Riley had assigned me to accompany two utterly useless vampires: Kevin and Casey.
As much as I loathed Raoul, these two were incredibly bothersome. According to what I had heard, Kevin was once a member of Raoul's human gang and was recruited by Riley upon Raoul's recommendation. Riley sought him out and asked if he wanted to join Raoul, to which he agreed. Casey, on the other hand, had joined shortly after working with Raoul in his gang. When Raoul became a part of the Seattle newborn army, he suggested to Riley that they recruit Casey, along with Kevin. Casey had since become a minion in Raoul's army.
Both Kevin and Casey bore a striking resemblance to each other, with their pale complexions and red eyes, the only noticeable difference being their hair. Kevin had jet-black hair, while Casey's hair were blonde. Despite their physical similarities, their personalities were the exact same. They were both stupid. And dangerous. And right now, mostly stupid.
Riley never seemed to care who he sent out in hunting groups. Or particularly bugged when sending out the wrong people together meant fewer people coming home. Tonight I was stuck with Kevin, Casey, Diego and Bree.
Instead of picking a direction for our hunt, suddenly Kevin and Casey were in the middle of an argument over whose favorite superhero would be a better hunter. Casey was demonstrating his case for Spider-Man now, skittering up the brick wall of the alley while humming the cartoon theme song. I sighed in frustration. Were we ever going to hunt?
I planned to give Riley a beat for this.
As I glanced to my left, a sudden flicker of movement caught my attention. It was Diego, and his frustration mirrored my own. We had both been turned into vampires at the tender age of seventeen, and Diego had shared his tragic human life story with me.
It began in Los Angeles, where he grew up in a humble, single-parent household. When he turned sixteen, his mother made the difficult decision to move to Portland for a job opportunity that ultimately fell through. Determined to support his family, Diego took on part-time jobs while attending school. His ultimate goal was to escape the hardships of street life and pursue a college education, all while ensuring his younger brother had the same opportunity.
Although Diego managed to steer clear of trouble with a gang at his high school, his brother became entangled in their dangerous web. Desperate to protect him, Diego and his mother devised a plan to extricate his brother from the gang's clutches. Tragically, before they could put their plan into action, his little brother lost his life during a brutal initiation ritual. Overwhelmed by grief, Diego sought vengeance against those responsible. He stole a gun from a gang member's house and avenged his brother's death, but found himself cornered by the remaining members.
It was in this dire moment that Riley appeared, offering Diego a chance at a new life. Without hesitation, Diego accepted the offer, and Riley swiftly eliminated their pursuers. Under Victoria's guidance, Diego joined the ranks of the newly created vampires, alongside Fred and Raoul. He became Riley's trusted right-hand man, navigating the treacherous world they found themselves in.
Returning to the present, I noticed Diego's gaze fixed on Bree, who let out a weary sigh before averting her eyes. In Riley's crowd, survival depended on keeping one's head down and remaining silent. It was a constant battle for life amidst the chaos.
"Spider-Man is such a whiny loser," Kevin taunted Casey from below. "I'l show you how a real superhero hunts." A mischievous grin spread across his face, revealing a set of gleaming teeth under the streetlight's glare.
Without hesitation, Kevin leapt into the center of the street just as the car's headlights illuminated the worn pavement with a cool, bluish-white glow. He flexed his muscular arms, showcasing his strength like a professional wrestler. The approaching car probably expected him to move out of the way like any ordinary person would. But Kevin wasn't ordinary. Not by a long shot.
Kevin jumped into the middle of the street just as the lights from a car swung around to illuminate the cracked pavement with a blue-white gleam. He flexed his arms back, then pulled them slowly together like a pro wrestler showing off. The car came on, probably expecting him to get the hell out of the way like a normal person would. Like he should.
"Hulk mad!" Kevin bellowed with a thunderous voice. "Hulk. . . SMASH!"
With incredible agility, he lunged towards the oncoming car, seizing its front bumper and effortlessly flipping it over his head. The vehicle, now upside down, crashed onto the pavement with a cacophony of twisted metal and shattering glass.
"Kevin, stop!" I shouted desperately, but my words fell on deaf ears.
The car's impact had triggered a woman's terrified screams from within.
Kevin stood triumphantly over the overturned car, his chest heaving with adrenaline. He turned to me with a smug grin, clearly reveling in his display of power.
"See, Casey? That's how it's done," he boasted, his voice filled with arrogance.
But as the reality of the situation sank in, I felt a wave of horror wash over me. The woman trapped inside the car was now in even greater danger, and it was all because of Kevin's reckless actions.
"Oh man," Diego shook his head in disbelief. "Kevin, we're supposed to be laying low. Riley said —."
"Riley said!" Kevin mocked in a high-pitched voice. "Get a spine, Diego. Riley's not here. "
Kevin leaped over the overturned Honda and smashed the driver's side window, still miraculously intact. He rummaged through the broken glass and deflating airbag to reach the driver. I watched in horror as Kevin attacked the woman.
The woman's cries for help echoed in my ears, but I knew it was too late for her. She was already their prey.
Casey, on the other hand, had no qualms. He leaped off the wall and landed gracefully behind Bree, earning a growl from me. Casey and Kevin exchanged hostile glares, followed by a sickening tearing noise as the woman's screams abruptly stopped. They had torn her apart.
I tried to block out the gruesome scene, but the heat and the sound of dripping blood behind me made my throat ache, even though I wasn't breathing.
"I'm outta here," Diego muttered.
"I don't blame you," I replied, crossing my arms. "But someone has to keep an eye on them."
Diego disappeared into a narrow passage between the buildings, with Bree close behind him.
I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what I was about to witness. As Diego and Bree slipped away, I knew it was up to me to monitor Kevin and Casey's every move. I couldn't let them wreak havoc unchecked.
I cautiously approached the shattered Honda and the stench of blood and the metallic tang of fear hung heavy in the air. I couldn't help but feel a surge of anger and disgust at what Kevin and Casey had done. How could they be so callous, so merciless?
I peered through the broken window, my eyes widening at the gruesome sight before me. The woman's lifeless body lay mangled and torn, her once vibrant spirit extinguished. It was a chilling reminder of the darkness that lurked within Kevin and Casey, a darkness that I had witnessed far too many times.
I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms. I had to stay focused, had to keep them in sight. I couldn't let them slip away, couldn't let them continue their reign of terror.
I rose up and stormed over to them. "Alright, you both want a chat? How about this? Wonder Woman is facing against Spider-Man and the Hulk? Who would win?"
Kevin and Casey exchanged puzzled glances, their anger momentarily overshadowed by my unexpected question. The tension in the air was palpable as they struggled to comprehend my sudden shift in topic. But I knew that diverting their attention was crucial in this moment.
As they hesitated, I continued, my voice dripping with sarcasm, "Come on, guys, I thought you were the experts on causing chaos. Surely you can handle a hypothetical battle between superheroes?"
Their confusion deepened, but I could see a flicker of curiosity in their eyes. It was a risky move, but I had to keep them engaged, keep them from slipping away.
"Well, technically, Wonder Woman is from DC and Spider-Man and the Hulk are from Marvel," Casey explained, a hint of amusement in his voice.
I rolled my eyes, frustrated by their attempt to deflect the seriousness of the situation. "That's not the point, boys. We need to talk about what just happened here. This isn't a game."
Kevin chuckled. "What's the big deal? So a human died from our hunger? It's not a big deal, and aside, that's what we need to survive."
I scoffed, disbelief and anger bubbling up inside me.
However, before I could voice my thoughts, a piercing scream shattered the conversation. A woman, unmistakably a prostitute given her revealing attire, burst into the scene with her scandalously short skirt and a white shirt that barely contained her ample bosom. Jen pounced on her, snarling, while Kristie dragged in a startled bike messenger.
I shook my head in disbelief as they continued to indulge in their gruesome feast. The reality of their true nature was becoming harder to ignore. These newborns were untamed beasts, incapable of being civilized.
"Hey, back off from our turf!" Kevin's voice boomed, filled with authority.
"Every inch of this town belongs to us!" Kristie's retort echoed defiantly.
The clash between the boys and girls was bound to happen, and I did my best to intervene.
But their primal instincts took over, and the fight escalated quickly. The sound of growls and snarls filled the air as they lunged at each other, teeth bared and claws out. I tried to separate them, but it was like trying to stop a force of nature.
"What did I say, about low profile?" Riley's voice reverberated.
Riley, visibly frustrated, stood beside the overturned car in the dimly lit street. The very car that Kevin had hurled. Smoke billowed from the engine, flames flickering to life.
Kevin, his chest heaving, glared back at Riley. "I didn't start this, they did," he pointed at the girls, who were baring their teeth at them.
Riley shook his head in exasperation. "It doesn't matter who started it, we can't afford this kind of attention right now. We need to lay low and stay under the radar."
A heavy silence enveloped us, broken only by the crackling fire and the faint whimpering of the humans.
Softly, Riley spoke to us, his voice filled with a sense of foreboding.
"Something's coming. Something... Bigger than any of us alone. And if you can't... ... control yourselves... We're all going to die."
The gravity of Riley's words hung in the air, weighing down on us like an impending storm. We exchanged uneasy glances, the realization sinking in that our actions had far-reaching consequences beyond this chaotic scene.
Kevin, however, paid no heed, as he greedily feasted upon the dying woman. Nearby, Kristie and Jen indulged in their chosen sustenance. Riley, resigned to our lack of control, turned to me with his piercing crimson eyes.
"What's done is done, just... ... clean up after yourselves," he instructed me before swiftly departing, his figure disappearing into the night with remarkable swiftness.
As the flames flickered and the cries of the humans grew fainter, a sense of dread settled over us. The realization that we were not alone in this world, that there were forces beyond our comprehension, weighed heavily on our minds.
I knew that Riley's warning was not to be taken lightly. Whatever was approaching, it was powerful and dangerous. And if we did not heed his words, we would all pay the price.
I looked around at the newborns, their faces twisted in a mix of fear and defiance. We were an army bound by our shared hunger, but now we were faced with a choice. Would we continue down this path of destruction, or would we find a way to restrain ourselves and avoid the impending doom that Riley had forewarned?
Yet, when I shifted my gaze away from the chaotic scene, my eyes fell upon four enigmatic figures cloaked in darkness, standing at a distance. They remained completely still, their piercing gazes fixated on the chaos unfolding before them.
Curiously, they made no move. They simply observed, their presence emanating an aura of mystery and power.
Could they be the something that Riley was talking about a few seconds ago?
The way they stood, so still and composed, made it seem as though time itself had frozen in their presence. Their dark cloaks billowed around them, blending seamlessly with the shadows that surrounded them, further obscuring their features.
I couldn't help but wonder what secrets lay hidden beneath those cloaks, what ancient knowledge they possessed. Were they the legendary Volturi guards, the protectors of the vampire world, as Victoria had described? The thought sent a chill through me, for their reputation preceded them.
As the chaos unfolded before them, their piercing gazes remained fixed, unyielding. It was as if they were observing a grand performance, silently judging every move, every action. Their eyes, hidden in the depths of their hoods, seemed to hold a wisdom that surpassed centuries of existence.
I stood transfixed, my gaze locked on those four mysterious beings. And, as if sensing my scrutiny, they vanished into thin air.
Leaving behind only a lingering sense of their presence, their disappearance only deepened the mystery surrounding them. It was as if they were phantoms, ethereal beings that had momentarily graced our world before retreating back into the shadows from whence they came.
But their impact remained, their presence etched into the very fabric of my being. The memory of their stillness, their silent observation, haunted my thoughts, leaving me with an insatiable hunger for answers. Who were they? What secrets did they hold? And why had they chosen this moment, this chaotic moment, to reveal themselves?

…Vampire Bella barely changed, though? She practically tears off a bit of the blue dress for easy mobility, she still recoils at Alice’s giant walk-in closet, she still doesn’t wear makeup. She chose 1 oyster satin dress. Also, Human Bella did canonically enjoy 1) grocery shopping 2) always felt uncomfortable with the human world and had stronger relationships with the supernatural one 3) was more comfortable with vampires and did long to be one and fought for it. So really “I was meant to be a vampire” does feel aligned with Bella’s character—you were talking about the movies, weren’t you.
also there is something so. insidious making bella this sweet clumsy girl who rarely wears makeup and doesn’t enjoy shopping or femininity and then having her turn into this feminine vampire with smoky eyes while also having the line “i was meant to be a vampire” in the book like.
#twilight#twilight renaissance#twilight meta#breaking dawn#am i missing something or#newborn bella is more emotional because well she is new#but really her core traits weren’t much changed#also with regards to bella’s arc#her becoming more confident with more self esteem is a GOOD development#i remember even the critics liking vampire bella more#but that’s because the script completely butchered human bella#the movies really messed you guys up#jacob canonically said he was pleased she was still bella
