happy first nu moon of 2023! of course we gotta start off with an aquarius nu moon on january 21, 2023 at 2:53 PM CST, which is so on brand for where the collective is heading. nu moons invite us to start nu beginnings and with the moon being in aquarius, we're being called to usher in nu beginnings pertaining to finding our people + building our tribe. but in order to do that, we must feel confident in ourselves so that we have the courage to be ourselves + attract our true tribe. personally, i don't really manifest with nu moons (i like to manifest with full moons instead), but this is a great nu moon for manifesting more authenticity in and around you, a bigger audience surrounding your craft, nu friendships, leadership opportunities, and innovation.

happy new year~!

these are written predominantly for the *rising* signs but they are also intuitively "channeled" enough that they should work for any dominant energy you have! (try your sun if you don't know rising, or more advanced readers can try moon, anywhere you have a stellium, etc and see what works best for you!)

aries: the first week of the year is fairly calm, although mercury ends its little retrograde to kick off the new year. likewise you can start your year off by focusing on reinvigorating an academic or spiritual practice.

taurus: the astrological weather is fairly quiet at the moment which may well bode nicely for your upcoming 2024. proceed through the week with care regarding shared resources or taxes, and be careful not to push any romantic or commitment situations. although mercury stations direct, hold off on signing contracts or verbal agreements for a little while longer.

gemini: celebrate your ruling planet mercury ending its retrograde! seriously, don't let the day (new year's day!) go unmarked. while you may not be entirely out of the woods until he makes it into capricorn, a major milestone is here achieved.

cancerians: mercury direct is good news for fitness, health, and daily routines. it's like a lingering fatigue lifts at last. then mars into capricorn makes any ongoing romantic relationships a little more, let's say, sizzly. maybe a lot more. if you're seeking a commitment, it's almost time to get that ball rolling.

leo: it's a great week to be a leo. mercury direct lightens and brightens up your romantic and creative life. meanwhile mars heads for capricorn, which helps you stay looking the way you want to look, doing the things you want to do, at a level others only ever dream of attaining.

virgo: mercury resumes direct motion, helping to relieve any problems you've been having at home. then mars heads into his exaltation in your fellow earth sign of capricorn. create something new and follow your bliss, be that a person or a project or cuddling up under some covers alone.

libra: if you want to make your own good omens for yourself, wait until about january 2 or 3 and decorate your home with some mountainous imagery. but not impassable obstacles of mountains, rather mountains that have been successfully scaled, the view of the earth from up there on the peak if you can.

scorpio: for the most part you can forget mercury retrograde ending. that direct motion fixes some finances for you but the big deal really is mars into capricorn. mars was your ruler of old, actually even less than a hundred years ago pre-pluto. he is exalted in the sign of the sea goat. the animalistic side of that sign comes out. it suits you well. it is very raw, honest, primal... make the most of it.

sagittarius: been waiting for mercury's retrograde to end? arguably, it's affected you most of all. the new year kicks off with the direct motion at last beginning. it doesn't reach the end of its shadow period for a couple more weeks but things ease up for you big time. for best results, don't get hasty about any new year's resolutions. you can save them as long as you want. maybe until mercury is well back into capricorn and you can see more clearly?

capricorn: mercury goes direct to start 2024 and then mars promptly enters his exaltation in your sign. if you're doing hustle culture, it works, but it does best if you also use this vibe to defend your rest periods, your fun and play, and peace. but you win the battles you enter.

aquarius: if it seems like mercury retrograde took away some friends or social circles, they are likely to pop back in from new year's day on. at the same time mars into capricorn means it's good to get a little gung ho about your spirituality, especially in terms of integrating the shadow.

pisces: this is a good week to spend time with old friends you haven't seen in a while. helpful people abound if you just put yourselves in each other's paths. also be a helpful person to others! if you have networks or support systems to build, this is especially easy from the 5th onward.

💕Sun in Sagittarius- this will bring more inspiration, motivation, enthusiasm, exploration and discovery of things. You will have more confidence and hope. Positive things will begin to happen. Sagittarius during this time you will be very confident and courageous. 2024: Major Astrology and Monthly Numerology Overview

2024 is an “8” year [2+0+2+4=8]. 8 is the number of the infinity sign and the auroboros. All things come around in an 8-year, you can expect to achieve the highest highs, but also the lowest lows. Antares, Algol and Vini Jr.

On June 2024, 3 attackers of Real Madrid's football player Vinícius Júnior were convicted of racism. In Brazil, Vini is protected by the law that provides for a sentence of 2 to 5 years in prison and a fine for racial assault/injury. Racism is specified as a serious crime that's non-bailable and imprescriptible, which means you can be tried at any time, regardless of the date on which it was committed. But this is the first time that a sentence like this had been handed down in Spain. When Real Madrid made the official anouncement, Vini spoke out and said:

Many asked me to ignore it, many others said that my struggle was in vain and that I should just "play football". But, as I have always said, I am not a victim of racism. I am the executioner of racists. This first criminal conviction in the history of Spain is not for me. It's for all black people. May the other racists be scared, ashamed and hide in the shadows. Otherwise, I'll be here to collect. Thank you to La Liga and Real Madrid for helping to bring about this historic conviction. More to come…

Statements like this that give you chills are usually delivered by either the Scorpion or Perseus. It's not a good idea to mess with either of those. Vinícius has the Moon with Antares, the heart of the Scorpion, and Saturn with Algol, Perseus' demon head. We don't have a reliable birth time for him

Vinícius has been attacked with racial slurs during several games, but these attacks specifically were on May 21, 2023, after a New Moon at 28° Taurus in the 8th house, very near Algol. The 8th house in mundane astrology has an association with crime and criminal incidents.

Real Madrid's announcement of the conviction and Vini's statement were on June 10, 2024 (possibly not the day of the conviction itself Idk). That's when Jupiter, the lord of justice, had already reached Algol, passed it and gotten into Gemini, where it meets Perseus' alpha star, Mirfak, at 1°.

Also two days later, four got arrested for making an effigy of Vinícius and hanging it from a bridge in January of this same year, which is very symbolic of Algol, but it signified their arrest. As I've made the point before, Algol is not just bad, but a protective apotropaic symbol.

Vinícius' Moon with Antares is important because it's common for Antares people to attract rivalry, persecution, or bullying. Antares (anti-Ares) is so named because it's a bright red royal star that looks like Mars, basically rivaling the red planet. But Antares is also one of the stars used by astro magicians to make talismans for protection against spiritual attacks, for banishing and binding evil spirits. So, at same time I do often see it act in a similar way to Algol's effects of protecting from the "evil eye" or reflecting evil back upon the attacker. The idea of rivalry is constantly surrounding it. I immediately thought "that's Antares" when I saw Vínicius refusing to be seen as a victim and declaring himself the tormentor of racists. Because the Scorpion does not play defense, he mercilessly attacks, usually from the sides and you won't see it.

Welcome to the Shadow of the Eclipse

October 4-31, 2023

Some introductory notes

The “shadow of the eclipse” is a time period lasting from 10 days before the first eclipse, to three days after the final eclipse. It is recommended not to start anything new, or schedule anything important, during these days - as usual I refer everyone to the 1981 wedding of Lady Diana Spencer to the Prince of Wales, as an example.

Of course we live in a place/time which scoffs at letting astrology help with the timing of events - therefore don’t lose hope if something falls unavoidably within the eclipse shadow. Just be prepared.

I wanted to take a more thorough approach to delineation, this time. I hope it’s helpful.

South Node Solar Eclipse

A solar eclipse happens when the New Moon lies close (in the Zodiac) to either the North Lunar Node, or to the South one. It occurred to me to do a little research on whether which Node is involved, makes any difference - and yes, it does.

Astrologers call the South Node “the dragon’s tail” - Steven Forrest calls the South Node, “the dragon’s butt” - because here we are “pooping out” what we don’t need and can’t use. (One person’s poop, however, is another person’s fertilizer.)

Eclipses conjunct the South Lunar Node, like the October 14 one, have an outflowing (outpooping?) of energy. They tend to feature external events which we have to “rise up to.”

Going down that list was a very uncomfortable trip down memory lane for me. When those South Node eclipses affected me, it was generally a harbinger of some difficult “external event” which I had little to no control over - which is not the same thing as saying “it wasn’t my fault.” I brought some of it on myself due to bad decisions. Some karma chickens coming home to roost, in other words. Not all of them were dire, though. One in particular gave me something of a respite from what had been happening in my life - it was conjunct my natal 12th House cusp.

Saros Series “7 South”

This eclipse is part of Saros Series “7 South.” Bernadette Brady writes,

The individual experiencing this series will find that huge obstacles will suddenly and easily clear or, on the negative side, a pending potential crisis will suddenly manifest and move through his or her life very rapidly. Either way the individual will feel that everything is moving at great speed. (The Eagle and the Lark)

Whatever Shall We Do?

1) Determine which of your natal houses this eclipse falls in.

2) Determine whether the eclipse makes an aspect to anything in your chart. Use a 1° orb. In my case, the conjunctions, squares, sesquiquads (135°), inconjuncts, and oppositions made the most obvious impacts.

3) If there is a close aspect to a planet, check to see which house(s) that planet rules. One South Node eclipse was conjunct the ruler of my natal 4th House, and I moved three months later.

4) Avoid strenuously negative thoughts. If you put a lot of energy into anticipating that something is going to be horrible and painful and disastrous, well, guess what - that’s exactly what’s going to happen. If you catch yourself falling into a panic, try to refocus the energy into “the best possible outcome.”

Worm Moon - March 7 2023

The world is thawing and spring will soon be sprung. Dust off your garden tools and get ready for the Worm Moon!

Worm Moon

The Worm Moon is the name given to the full moon which occurs in the month of March in the Northern Hemisphere. The name is taken from the renewed visible presence of earthworms, which begin to bubble up in gardens and on sidewalks as the spring thaw approaches and increased temperatures and rainfall loosen the soil enough for them to emerge. And of course, this is accompanied by the presence of spring harbingers like robins and local songbirds, who are very happy to see this renewed bounty.

The March moon, if it occurs prior to the spring equinox, is also the Lenten Moon, named for the Christian holiday of Lent. Indigenous names for this moon include Goose Moon (Algonquin and Cree), Sugar Moon (Ojibwe), Sap Moon (Shawnee), and Crow Comes Back Moon (Northern Ojibwe).

What Does It Mean For Witches?

Full moons are both the beginning and end of the lunar cycle. With the Worm Moon, we can look forward to the beginning of spring and the yearly harvest cycle. So now is the perfect time for seasonal divination, plans for the coming months, and the setting of goals for the future, both short-term and long-term. You can also check in with goals you may have set back in January and record your progress. (Remember - even a little progress is still progress!)

If you're an observer of astrology, you might be interested to know that Saturn and several other planets are experiencing transitions this month, some of them for the first time in several years. For those who work in celestial spheres, this may herald a long-awaited breath of fresh air and (hopefully) positive changes to come.

What Witchy Things Can We Do?

The Worm Moon heralds the imminent start of the planting season. If you've got green fingers, now is the time to begin planning your garden for the season. Prepare your sprouting trays and browse your favorite seed catalog for inspiration.

As the Spring Equinox approaches (March 20th), this is a good time to start putting together any seasonal observances you'd like to make. It's also time for that all-important spring cleaning, so open up those windows on a warm day and air out all the staleness from winter. As you scrub and dust and declutter, you can also magically cleanse your space of stagnant, disruptive, or unwanted things, replacing them with your own energy and your good wishes and goals for the upcoming season.

Consider also how you can change or begin new routines and habits to improve your life, make better choices, streamline your schedule, or just give yourself a much-needed break. If there's something hanging around that no longer serves you, now is the time to consider bidding it adieu and moving forward to a new path.

This is also an excellent time for spells focused on fertility, optimism, and new growth. It's important to remember that fertility spells don't just have to focus on procreation. They can also be geared toward planting, creating, opportunity, inspiration, motivation, prosperity, abundance, and anything that requires nurturing and productivity.

The season of growth and renewal is upon us, so it's time to Ready, Set, GROW!

The Year of the Water Rabbit…..

New Year 2023 finally starts here at the seismic Super New Moon at 1 Aquarius on January 21st. It is an exciting foretaste of the Aquarian Agenda 2023 – 2043 which begins when Pluto enters Aquarius on March 23rd, re-activating the degree of this Super Moon.

In Chinese Astrology, this New Moon marks the Year of the Water Rabbit. The Yin Water element represents sensitivity, intuition and the way of inner peace after the dynamic and extremely harsh Year of the Yang Tiger in 2022.

Super New Moons are New Moons on steroids and have the same storm and seismic potential as their more visible Full Moon counterparts that are always reported by the media. The January 21 Stealth Super Moon will anchor a January 18-24 shock window when extreme tides, strong storms and seismic activity are likely. It is in a wide conjunction with Pluto square the karmic Nodes of Fate across Taurus/Scorpio- choices made now will have long term consequences.

Uranus turns direct at 14 degrees Taurus on January 22, shaking up global markets and personal finances - cryptocurrencies are going to be centre stage as old debts are called in.
