SJM truly doesn't understand how struggles change a person. Nesta and Elain take care of the household for five years or more on their own as children and once Tamlin brought them wealth, they're happy to play high society like nothing happened? That kind of experience leaves a scar knowing who abandoned them and what they've seen and done.

What do you mean Nesta just stands alone and stares off into the distance though she remembers EVERYTHING? What do you mean she doesn't do chores as coping? She'd be scrubbing the floors to forget how she failed to find Feyre and how she's the only one alive to mourn her until her nails are breaking and bleeding. She'd be chopping wood every day since it's what Feyre asked of her. She wouldn't be able to stop once she started as all she sees is the beast that took her little sister. She'd be cooking herself to make sure Elain is well-fed and healthy. She'd be still wearing the same two dresses with holes on the inside so that Elain can have pretty ones. She'd be wearing the same old boots as she still remembers the worn-out ones Feyre used to wear. The help would literally beg her to leave some chores for them.

What do you mean Elain doesn't learn to cook until she comes to Velaris? What do you mean she worries about Nesta embarrassing her in front of their new friends? She'd be smiling for them during the day and cuddling with Nesta at nights because she can't sleep without her sister. She'd stack pillows on the other side because she misses Feyre. She'd eat until she is full and sick because she sees the concern in Nesta's eyes. She'd grow fruits and vegetables more than flowers because she can't shake the feeling that this money won't last forever. She'd mend all of Nesta's clothes as she won't buy new ones. She'd buy paints and brushes for when Feyre returns. She'd buy dresses for Feyre because she'd never worn (a good) one in her life. She'd ask the help to not leave Nesta alone because she knows her sister is still burdened by her responsibilities. She'd feel guilty for finding love in Graysen, for finding happiness when her sister refuses to even smile. She'd want to take care of her sister who was almost a mother to her but wouldn't know how.

Since (haven’t read CC yet) 3 Maasverse main characters thus far are artists in one way or another (something I love in fandoms and especially these/Maasverse)

With:

Aelin the musician (composer/piano forte player) & appreciator of the arts. Fashionista. & semi-ballerina.

Nesta the dancer (a lil lovely scene tidbit I thought was freeing and mostly fun)

And of course Feyre THE Artist (& best example as this is crucial to how she sees the world).

Especially with the latter 2 in ACOTAR & our Archerons; even their father was a wood carver/sculptor… (let’s stick with the latter phrase… cause it’s too soon for carver to be heard as anything other than CREEPY “bone carver”😅) … so that leaves us with one; Elain.

Maybe a Nessian Family prompt?!

I imagine Nessian’s daughter as stubborn as her parents. Like one time during a heated battle, their eldest daughter literally flew in front of Nesta ,in which she has gotten a cut and a scar, to protect her Mom from the creature which was about to attack her.

Nesta was livid. after they have won the battle, she went straight to her daughter, and scolded her infront of eveyone like “You will not do that again. You, or any of our children, will NOT die from saving us, (your parents)! You hear me?!” Their daughter can’t understand why Nesta was angry, like she saved her right?! 😂 And much to everyone’s shock, Nessian daughter had the guts to say “No. I won’t just stand,look and do nothing and let you get hurt when I know I can do something about it!” Like they were literally nose to nose. And Cassian don’t know if he should be proud or mad at his daughter 😅 Eventually Cassian pulled her mate away, while Nessian daughter was pulled by her younger siblings (all girls of course) 😎

When they got home though, there’s a sweet moment when the eldest approached her Mom, give her a hug and apologize. And Nesta making her understand that she can’t lose any of them. She’s not angry, she was scared, so scared. 🥺 And yeah, they just cuddled until morning, with the other daughters. Cass taking the sofa by the living room 😳

Okay so a little headcanon/theory I have is that because the Archeron sisters retain a part of their human dna, they can have babies more easily and quicker than other fae. Which would explain why Feysand got pregnant quickly (other than sjm wanting them to have a baby cause she was pregs at the time 😭).

Now to add to this, I think it’s fairly uncommon for fae to have multiple babies at a time, so if a twin pregnancy happens it’s seen as a gift from the Mother. And because the fae struggle with conception they’ve never had any pregnancy more than one or twins. Never triplets or quadruplets. And twins only happen every so often.

Now, my headcanon is that when Nessian finally decide to have babies they break free of the faes conception “rules”. Lmao the first pregnancy they have triplet girls and when they are told this Nesta passes out in the Prythian equivalent obgyn office and Cassian’s just like: 😝😝. And I say all three are girls because nes+cass embody girl parent vibes. Like Nesta is the mom who wears matching outfits and hairstyles with her girls and Cass is the dad who wears matching tutus when playing “princesses” with his girls and paints his nails the same colors. Anyways, the fae see this as a sign from the mother and throw this huge celebration party much to Nesta’s dismay. She has the house do research on how the hell it’s even possible for the first pregnancy to happen so quickly AND for it to be triplets. No reason is found though.

The Illyrians see it as a sign of evilness and say it’s because Nesta is a witch and now she’ll have her own coven😭. Cassian of course punishes any of his soldiers that say this by making them do flying maneuvers until they literally drop out of the sky.

The birth is awful and long and Nesta just wants to give up towards the end but Cassian shares his power with her and tells her how wonderful she’s doing and how amazed he is of her. The girls all three have wings. I see one of them looking exactly like cass, the other exactly like nes, and the third is the perfect mixture of each.

When it comes time to teach them how to fly, Cassian can’t stand the thought of them potentially getting hurt so he brings in uncle azzy and uncle rhysie to help. Nesta watches from a balcony on the house of wind. Of course the girls are naturals and get the hang of it after like an hour of practice and they take midnight flights every day with their daddy while mama gets some much needed rest.

After like another century Nes+Cass decide their ready for another and to their utter shock they get pregnant with triplet boys this time 😭. And Nesta’s just like: how the fuck has this happened again?!?!? And cass again is just: 😝😝. The girls are fiercely protective of their baby brothers and will start fights over them.

I see Nessian being the couple who names their children after I guess prythians version of Greek gods? Eventually they also decide to adopt some children from Illyria. I also see Nessian as the couple who have their own little army of offspring 😭spread out over centuries of course! But they don’t stop until they have a complete level of the HoW filled with their children lmao.

i also have this headcanon that he has the most perfect nose (which is SO unrelated but good god, his nose has got to be... perfect.) he smears frosting on his own nose, knowing you'll reprimand him, and smiles at you like a fool as he tells you not to let it go to waste...

This can't be seen as anything but racist to me.

We know three things about Illyrians based on what the IC have said in the books:

They are violent Misogynists, to the point where they believe mutilating women is supposed to be completely normal.

They are a warrior race who value status & bloodlines more than anything, happily throwing away and abusing those bastards and those considered weak.

They're super stubborn about the aforementioned points.

Nothing about the 'rich culture' that Illyria supposedly has. How does that make Rhys comparing Nesta to an Illyrian, especially as a woman, anything but insulting. It very much gives the same vibe as somebody insulting you, and then laughing it off because it's 'just a joke' even if it hurts you, putting you in an awkward position where your feelings are undermined but it's hard to speak up without seeming like you're making a mountain out of a molehill.

As things stand, all signs point to Rhys & Co. Not liking Illyrians. I'd argue that they outright hate Illyrians. So how could any comparison made between Nesta and an Illyrian be anything but an insult?

It's also unbelievably racist. The IC happily make comments about how terrible Illyria is and how it's cold and miserable. Mor says it right as they're walking through Illyria, so clearly they don't try to hide their distaste. The lack of Illyrian women in the library is also concerning, given that they're well aware of the treatment of women there, and in the HC. Why is that? Rhys is The Most Powerful High Lord, he could bring women to the library no problem, using his authority to overrule the Illyrians and save them, but doesn't. Why? Is maintaining an army worth the suffering of thousands? What about the orphans and bastards who are left with nothing? Or the children beaten regularly? Could he not do anything about that? Build more shelters, help provide more food, and other goods through trade?

Speaking of oppressed women, when Rhys compared Nesta to Illyrians, was he comparing to the oppressed women who are mutilated and abused regularly? Or the abusers who regularly mutilate and abuse women? Cause I have a feeling I know which and yet people still argue that Nesta 'should be grateful to him' and 'has said worse'.

Also, just generally, comparing a person you don't like or who you feel has wronged you, to an entire race of people you speak only negatively about, is racist. Especially when the original person isn't part of that race, like who tf do you think you are?

Even if Rhys did, hypothetically, mean it as a compliment, that doesn't make it any less racist or messed up. It means he has to reevaluate his view on the Illyrians, and learn more about them before ever speaking about/on behalf of them again.

Finally, let's talk about the 'she has no excuse' line.

First off, Nesta is having a very valid and common trauma response. One that I'm sure would be common in Illyria given how the Illyrians are a warrior race, and war is, well, traumatising. Veterans with ptsd, children being turned into soldiers, or beaten for having the audacity to be born with a uterus, families grieving the loss of mothers, fathers, daughters, wives, husbands, cousins, sons, sisters, brothers, friends, aunts, etc. Illyria, based on what we know, is probably ripe with traumatised people, and alcoholism, gambling and sex are some of the most common coping mechanisms for trauma. So what do you mean no excuse? Not even just Illyrian, but many people struggle with.

But, at the end of the day, a person's skin color has no bearing on what's an 'acceptable' form of coping. Suffering is suffering. Trauma is trauma. As things stood, the entirety of the IC were so unbelievably lucky that Nesta hadn't committed suicide, even by that point. Thinking of the potential suicides in both the HC and Illyria is actually terrifying, given the amount of trauma that the people from either location have to endure.

It makes you wonder what Mr. mental-health-matters-and-your-trauma-is-valid-Rhysand does to help the Illyrians to cope with their trauma? What resources do they have? Is there a library for them? What about a counselor, like the priestesses have? What about in the HC? What about the toxic masculinity that pressures boys into being strong soldiers, and abuse women? Being taught that they're there for domestic labour and child bearing, and nothing more?

Do you know what it feels like to be suffering in your own head, to the point you're contemplating an early grave, feeling alone, and unworthy of even the slightest affection or help, and everyone in your life just confirms your worst fears? Do you know how it feels to want to scream at the top of your lungs that everything from waking up to drinking water feels like the most difficult, painful thing you've ever done? Do you know how it feels when everyone tells you how much they love you, and want you to be happy, only to hate yourself even more when you can barely muster a smile for their sake, and all you can do in their presence is disassociate and try not to fall apart, as you hear your father's murder over and over again in your head?

Do you know what it feels like to be reminded time and time again how great you have it, and to be thankful, and that you should be happy for your life, and for the sake of others, and that it'll be better once you conform, and push everything down and let the world see you as a happy smiley person even if it kills you? Or what about when you're ridiculed, and insulted and spoken down to for the way you cope, the only thing keeping you alive? To never be able to let anyone see that part of you that's dying, because they care more about coping 'the right way' and appearances than you're wellbeing, is the most suffocating, lonely experience you could imagine.

If Nesta had conformed and interacted with the IC the way they wanted her to, I wholeheartedly believe she'd've been dead within a week. This is what Nesta's enduring, and the so called feminist, pro mental health, anti misogynist 'king' is saying things like that?

Seriously, it's such a small line, but it points to so many issues that people just refuse to acknowledge. It just comes off as Rhys being a misogynist who victim blames anyone who doesn't keep up appearances with him and his band of clowns and psychos.

thinking about the time rhysand said “nesta is… she’s illyrian. I mean that as a compliment, but she’s an illyrian at heart. so there is no excuse for her behavior.”

and that behavior is... playing cards at seedy taverns while spending the money rhysand owes her? if she's an illyrian at heart then maybe he'd prefer she go on a rampage and slaughter an entire village? rhys trying to pass this off as a compliment is also ridiculous because everything sjm has written about illyrians paints them as savage, violent monsters with bigoted/misogynistic beliefs. he is so foul for this

Can I request a headcannon where the reader is mated to Cassian, Azriel and nesta. And she's a total cutie somehow she always has some sorts of snacks on her hands like literally all the time ( giant sweet tooth) and they are wondering where she gets them from.

Like Cassian loses his mind because she just one moment doesn't have a cookie in her hand and the next she's eating one.

Also she's a total cat, she disappears in the middle of the day and they can only bring her out when they leave a plate of cookies in the kitchen. ( she can smell it ) she's always sleeping and likes to cuddle whenever one of them is sitting or working.

When you felt the bond between all 4 of you, you guys didn’t know what to do at first

You were confused bc you thought the pull you felt to always be around Nesta, Cassian, and Azriel was just your friendship

You’d also be lying if you said you weren’t in love with them

The three of them love you so much

Not much has changed except that you move into the house of wind permanently

You have your own room but you spend most nights with Azriel, he’s your favorite to snuggle with

But there were nights when you wanted to cuddle between Nesta and Cassian

Nesta found she was very possessive and protective of you

And Cassian treats you like a princess

You were a big napper

You can fall asleep anywhere whether it’s on the couch, leaning against Cassian, or even at the table

The boys have found you and Nesta lightly snuggled on the floor of your at home library surrounded by books

One of your favorite nap spots was the couch. Especially when Nesta would read to you and run her fingers through your hair while resting your head on her lap

Something that always drove your three mates crazy were your snack habits

How did you always have one in your hand? How was it always candy? Where did you hide them?

At first you were really good at hiding snacks around the house

A small bag of chips under a throw pillow here

A bag of chocolate covered popcorn in the back of the cabinet

But then the House started helping you by making small compartments in the wall for snacks

If you were in the sitting room but wanted the snack you hid there in the upstairs library the house would bring it to you

“Ok, I know you don’t have those because they weren’t in the snack cabinet. Where did you get the snack?” You just giggle and shrug at Cassian’s question

Nesta would always give you a questioning look and then demand you share

Your dresses and skirts always had pockets not just so you could hold your things but for snacks, the important stuff

Cassian would always beg you for one healthy snack, “Just some fruit that’s all I’m asking.”

“Cass you make sure we eat healthy meals. Occasional junk food won’t kill me baby.” He’d just huff and cross his arms while Azriel laughed and stole a bit of whatever you were munching on

One time it was dead silent in a meeting, except for Rhys bc he was talking about important court stuff

You sneakily pulled a cookie from your pocket, you swiped it from the batch Elain just baked, and took a bite. What you didn’t know was that the cookie would betray you and make a loud crunch sound

Everyone looked at you and Cassian took it from you and gave it back once the meeting was over, “What did we talk about? No disruptive snacks.”

You also value sleeping in

If you didn’t get enough sleep the night before thanks to some ppl 👀…or just from not being able to sleep you liked a few extra hours of peace

Cassian and Azriel, being early risers, never got that about you

You could only be bribed with food

Breakfast is your favorite meal so they use that to their advantage

Always taunting you with the smell of sweet savory bacon, pancakes and maple syrup, eggs, muffins, anything they could cook they would make it for you

You would creep into the kitchen and swipe pieces of bacon before everything was ready

The boys would pretend to be annoyed but secretly love it

Sometimes during the day they could never find you

It was a true mystery where you went or what you did with your time

Nesta would leave your favorite treat out on the counter hoping you’d sense it was there

Azriel would totally have his shadows carry the scent of it to where ever you are

Sometimes they’d miss you and come back to half the plate gone and no you

Other times you’d be perched on the counter chewing happily on your treat
