Number of time warps/jumps: 3 1. Scorpion: a month.long (4-5 weeks) timejump between episode 3x22 & 3x23...the s3 finale lead-in episode starts after a month timejump. Plus there is another, about 3-week timejump between/inside episode 3x24 & 3x25.  

I’m starting to think we’ll be getting a timejump...either during the finale (episodes 3x23, 3x24, 3x25...or if not, then definitely between s3 & s4 (like between s1 & s2) or in s4 opener, ep 4x01. But I’m leaning towards 2 weeks to 2-4 months time jump in the finale... somewhere in/between episodes 23-24-25. I also predict a small timejump of 2-6 weeks  between episode 2x22 & 2x23 aka the wedding day ep 3x23 starts several weeks after the last pre-sweps ep ended.  #thebeachplot #prettymuchconfirmed ETA: We’re getting a 3-week timejump in the finale(before the finale), ep 3x25

these are just a  few little things, but yeah, many shows have been building towards their season end/finale “twists” for several episodes/half the season/all season long... and it’s finally time for the conclusion of these stories. The development and hints leading to resolution. 

The TBBT finale “twist” already aired this week. Same with CM. (and the NCISmothership Delilah twist was also known for those who paid attention before the ep aired) On Sunday NCISLA finale airs. On Monday SCORPION finale. And in upcoming weeks the ELEMENTARY & B99 & LUCIFER  finales air. 

And each show has some surprises, twist or other kind of greatness reserved for their finales. Some you might expect, some might come as surprise. But it’s a really good week/time for the fans. Exciting! (and this year it’s mostly positive... ok...let’s leave out the CM finale last frame with Luke & Tara, and the NCISLA 8x23 end scene/reveal... but otherwise... it’s all good!)

Thank you for the question.

10.  Most disliked arc? Why?

There isn’t really a one specific plot/storyline/arc that I dislike when done on TV shows. What I dislike is “popular/trendy” plots that are overused. Ones that doesn’t seem to fit, and seem like they’ve been added/done because “every shows has to have THIS storyline, because that’s just such a great idea”. Plots that, to me, seem like added simply because they’re popular. Plots that don’t seem to “fit” (for the show, for the character).

In the past decade, some of these popular arcs seem to be “disability/bound to a wheelchair”, and “infertility/character who never wanted kids cannot have them” (as HIMYM  writers put it for Robin’s character “I never wanted to be a pole vaulter, but it’s one thing to not want to, and another thing to be told you can never be a pole vaulter”. To me it didn’t fit the character…at all, whilst for example for  Monica/Mondler on “Friends” the infertility plot worked…), and for some shows and characters they do work. But too often they become “sob stories” and feel off.. not really adding anything, and seem like their only purpose is to have been added for the sake of “we have to do that plot, too!…” 

Basically, plots that serve no other purpose than being done, and being temporary roadblocks for the (main) characters. Plots that are there only to “create drama” (and they’re not doing that job…at least not well). Cause I don’t always subscribe to the ideas they represent (Look! she’s bound to a wheelchair, but she doesn’t give up, and despite her personal struggles with changes, she achieves more than some able-bodied people/characters. The fact that you have to sell this idea to the viewer, and that the masses need to be told that disability does not mean “less” is sad. The idea that the average person sees the struggle being harder, when there are extra obstacles… It’s the same idea why women/kids/elderly (with whom the average human mind sympathies more) are used as the ones, who suffer in fictional stories, because… is a little saddening to me…)

16.  If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?

a) Scorpion - I would have the show break Team Scorpion’s (Paiges/Ralph’s) rule “Scorpion never fails/We save everyone” and have them fail at least once. preferably once per season. Not solving a case, not saving everyone. 

And no, failing to save the one pilot in 3x01 doesn’t count. And failing to signal the ship in 3x24 doesn’t count. And no, Scotty not making it back home before his daughter was born doesn’t count. Neither do all the other little mishaps… But for me, in order for the show to be at least somewhat believable, there needs to be a case they/science can’t solve, and characters whose lives they cannot save despite their efforts. 

Otherwise…there is one thing I would change… fast(er than the show might do it). After season 3, and the Cd-baby plot, and the 3x07 Quintis end scene, I would write the Quintis pregnancy plot… happening… like yesterday. We cannot change the past (unless, you know, you have access to a time travel machine), so I cannot change anything pre-season 4 (ep 4x01), but if we could, I would have written a Quintis pregnancy reveal into the s3 finale: they get back, they all get medical check-ups, and we/they learn that Happy is pregnant. This would have been how i’d done it (if I’d change’d only one element, and not anything else in s3). But since we cannot change that, I’d continue with the Quintis family story/arc, which has really been going on since the beginning, and on focus since mid of season 2 (Happy/dad Patrick “Shiny Happy People” scene), and start the pregnancy storyline as the next step in the long ongoing arc…in 4x01/4x02. 

Bonus:  I will never stop being salty about this..until the plot is brought back & finished/continued. But “Scorpion” season 2 Sylvester’s story arc with raising money for “Megan Dodd Pediatric Care Unit/Ward” plot… is the one thing I’d “change”. But again…since we cannot change the past… and cannot do anything about the plot being “dropped” (no mention how it went, no mention if he raised the money or not, and if he got the naming rights or not) and never mentioned since those two times in s2 (eps 2x15 & 2x18), I’d find a way to bring it back, and complete the arc. In my vision the way to do it now…after a while… would be with a case involving a child/baby and/or the team-members pregnancy (Quintis baby). Have them have a reason to go to Whitehull hospital, and show the sign on the wall. That answers all those questions…with not having to write any dialogue even… 

Extra: on NCIS:LA & CM there are a few things, too. Those shows love to “drag out” their ongoing story arcs over several seasons even. (on NCISLA real life things have been at play… and they’ve changed their original plans because of that…otherwise it all might’ve happened in a much more compact way), but yeah, “the mole plot” on NCISLA and “the Scratch plot” on CM… they feel too dragged out, and while sometimes ongoing arcs that resurface every now and then work, then those two are examples of such arcs (that are done, then “dropped”, then “mentioned every once in a while” before “forgotten” again…until the next time) that for me, do not work. They became old, boring, and focus-less a while ago.

Random personal Monday post #1

Happy Monday! 

 I get to take this day OFF! Which means I get to nap/sleep! I’m gonna sleep so much today! Plus drink so much fluids/hot tea (with honey). Plus eat so much lemons*. Plus draft/queue/write so many fandom posts** (I’ve got the 3x22 parallels post,, the S3 parallels/hints post, the wedding countdown meme posts, and a few other posts.... waiting to be finished or started...)

Plus... grandma’s coming over, again, tonight... which means I get to take it even lighter. I am feeling a lot better already, and taking it easy for a few more days won’t hurt I guess.

**How awesome was last night’s NCISLA? All the Granger/Miguel Ferrer feels, though... And of course Elementary had some great moments, too, but more subtle. NCISLA was very intense.
