Ashlesha: The Villain Era Nakshatra
Ashlesha nakshatra can create poison to destroy their enemies. They also have the ability to restrain their destructive powers and hold poison within themselves. As I said in my previous post, Ashlesha embodies the demonic feminine and showcases qualities of the dark side of the feminine. But we need to understand that "darkness" is a spectrum and can be defined/portrayed in a variety of ways.
In this post I'll explore various tropes that Ashlesha natives portray on screen.
Peyton List, Ashlesha Sun plays Poison Ivy in Gotham
"The thing I love most about Poison Ivy is her walking that line between bastion of Mother Nature and psycho Eco-terrorist. She sees herself as the hand of Mother Nature. If Mother Nature were "God," then Ivy would be her "Jesus." She defends the defenceless nature of the world and truly believes in her cause. Maiming, mauling, and mutilating are extreme measures, but it's nothing compared to what irredeemable cruelties humanity's done to the world of nature. Ivy always sees the greater good as she punishes those who deserve it."— J. T. Krul (comic book writer)
This describes Ashlesha natives quite well. They truly believe that the people they hurt deserve it. The aspect of serving karma/justice is a very prominent one.
Poison Ivy has the following abilities:
Genius-level intellect
Manipulation of plants and toxins
Decelerated aging
Expert seductress
These can all directly be connected to Ashlesha. Being a Mercury ruled nak, these natives are naturally intelligent and their minds work very fast, given the mythology of this nak, their connection to toxins and poisons is a gift given to the Ashlesha native. Mercurial women often look very young/youthful and maintain this youthfulness well into their 30s and 40s and on. This nak's deity is Nagas, the serpent God and serpent connection in any nak is a strong indicator of potent sexuality and seductive energy.
Poison Ivy possesses a poisonous touch and is characterized as a "supervillain" or "antiheroine".
I had mentioned in my old post about how movies featuring Ashlesha women have a common trope of them being abused, gaining power through that violent experience and then using those powers to go after all the bad guys.
Similarly, Poison Ivy was a botanist who was persuaded by Marc LeGrand to assist him with the theft of an Egyptian artefact containing ancient herbs. Fearing she would implicate him in the theft, he attempts to poison her with the herbs, which are deadly and untraceable. She survives this murder attempt and discovers she has acquired an immunity to all natural toxins and diseases.
2. Jennifer Lawrence, Ashlesha Sun plays Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games
if you're familiar with the books or the movies you would know that there is a heavy emphasis on Katniss' resorting to manipulation to skew things in her favour, both on and off the arena.
She's competing in a survival reality show where tributes have to kill each other for the entertainment of the masses but she manages to turn things around in her favour through media manipulation, using everything to her advantage.
This emphasizes on Ashlesha's mercurial ability to play with perception and skew the narrative in their favour.
Katniss is an impoverished girl from the poorest district with no chances of winning but she relies on things other than brute strength to see her through the Games.
3. Barbra Streisand, Ashlesha Moon as Yentl in Yentl
This movie is about a girl who disguises herself as a guy to go to school. She falls in love with her male classmate and his gf falls in love with her (believing her to be a guy).
Claire had said in her Ashlesha video about how WLW themes in cinema often involve Cat yoni gals (Punarvasu or Ashlesha)
4. Catherine Deneuve, Ashlesha Moon in The Hunger (1983)
this is yet another very Ashlesha coded movie about a vampire (played by Deneuve) and her aging partner and the doctor he consults to help with his condition and the homoerotic bond that develops between these women.
the fact that Deneuve is playing a vampire (i've noticed Ashlesha playing demonic/monstress esque characters a lot) and that "aging" is a main plot point (vampires don't age) is vv intriguing since mercurials are the most "young/youthful looking"; Mercurials are essentially teenagers even as they grow older, they don't "age" the way most people do, not just physically but also mentally and of course, it wouldn't be an Ashlesha coded film without some WLWism in it.
A major reason why Cat yoni girls are drawn to other girls or to non-penetrative intercourse is because sex is vv painful for female cats. A male cat's penis is barbed, and these little spikes scrape along the female cat's vagina during copulation, making sexual intercourse vv painful for them. I have noticed that many Cat yoni women irl tend to have vaginismus or other conditions that make penetrative intercourse unpleasant or difficult for them. Making love to another woman or intercourse with a partner (male or female) that's largely centred around foreplay is what feels pleasurable to these natives. More than the act of PIV, its intimacy that they crave from sex. They can be very passive in bed and find it hard to orgasm with just PIV. A low libido is also likely. They're not prudish, they're very imaginative with what they desire but when it comes to actually physically expressing themselves, they're like cats, they can't express it.
5. Audrey Tautou, Ashlesha Sun in Priceless (2006)
Audrey Tautou plays a gold digger-y woman (a common Ashlesha trope) who mistakes a bartender to be a wealthy man. She later helps him work as a gigolo for a wealthy woman.
Ashleshas are skilled at manipulation (this is often described in a negative light by many astrologers but manipulation is a skill like any other and can be used for good and bad reasons). This whole movie revolves around one woman's ability to manipulate men into giving her what she wants and by teaching this to another person, she is emphasizing the fact that this is a skill that can be picked up (an essential Mercurial principle because Mercury is about that which we cultivate not what we've been innately gifted with).
6. Marilyn Monroe, Ashlesha Rising in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
MM plays a gold digger who carefully uses her feminine charms and allure to get with wealthy men. Understanding how to channel femininity in ways that benefit them is a very Cancerian woman thing.
If we were to consider the fact that Marilyn basically created a whole alter ego, adopted certain mannerisms, dressed a specific way, used a fake baby voice, styled and kept up a whole persona then we can see the positive manifestation of Ashlesha and Cancer's manipulative feminine nature. She wasn't born Marilyn, she became her through her carefully cultivated charm. This is peak Mercury, peak Cancer behaviour.
Sidenote: I've noticed many Cancer women speaking in a fake baby voice tbh hehe, Paris Hilton (Pushya Moon) also does this. Paris is also a great example of Cancerian performative femininity. She managed to convince the whole world she was a dumb blonde heiress when she was anything but. She created a persona for herself and played that character to the t. Her hyperfeminine mannerisms, almost caricatur-ish personality has had a lasting impact on pop culture. She herself has come out to say that she "was playing a character".
7. Anna Kendrick, Ashlesha Sun in Alice, Darling (2022)
this movie is about a manipulative, abusive and controlling relationship based on anna kendrick's real life experiences. Ashlesha women and Cancer women in general are very susceptible to relationships of this sort. It starts at home usually, these women have very dysfunctional relationships with their mothers and go on to form unhealthy and toxic romantic relationships (if unevolved).
8. Ashlesha's connection to Snow White
Ashlesha Sun & Moon, Charlize Theron as the evil stepmother in Snow White & the Huntsmen
Ashlesha Moon Lily Collins as Snow White in Mirror Mirror
Snow White's story depicts the OG toxic mother-daughter dynamic which is a common theme in the lives of many Ashlesha natives. Receiving step daughterly treatment from your own mother and having a sibling who is more favoured than you is another common theme.
We see this play out in real life with Bella and Gigi Hadid who both have Ashlesha Mars as their atmakaraka and amatyakaraka respectively.
Many Ashlesha women play the toxic mother in tv shows and movies (Vera Farmiga, Ashlesha Moon in Bates Motel) but its equally likely for them to play the daughter who is at the receiving end of the abuse.
A major way that this "toxicity" manifests is through highly co-dependent relationships with their mothers, who essentially run their lives for them and keep them "trapped" in childlike passivity. The thing is Ashlesha women almost kinda like it this way, they want to be taken care of, they're needy and would much rather have someone else do everything for them. Rising above this passivity is their biggest challenge.
The Indian actress Sridevi (Ashlesha Sun & Stellium) was known for her highly co-dependent relationship with her mother. In the 80s during her peak, it was a running joke that you could ask Sridevi anything and she'd respond with "Ask Mummy". Sridevi, like many Ashlesha natives had a very childlike personality and was often described as lacking "mental maturity". The reality is that her mother micromanaged her life and made all her decisions, controlled her finances and told her what she could do and couldn't do until she passed away when Sri was well into her 30s. She forced Sri into films when she was barely a toddler and never gave her any formal education. Of course Sridevi never described this relationship as "toxic". Most of these natives wouldn't because its been ingrained into them that they're incapable of getting anything done on their own and "need" their mother to do things for them. They're gaslit into believing they're inept. (Sridevi was also known for speaking in a baby voice 😌)
Ashlesha lies entirely in Cancer rashi which means they are lost to the watery depths of Cancer's influence, the combination of Moon & Mercury always makes one prone to manipulation and although this is considered a negative, I absolutely believe it can be manifest in positive ways. However it IS hard.
The feminine/ yin urge to absorb energy manifests itself in an absolutely self-serving here. Imo this is by nature self serving always however other Cancer rashi naks have the ability to give to others in ways an Ashlesha native can't.
Ashlesha is cancer at its most passive, absolutely unable to "give"; this means they feel easily drained by others and have to be very selective with who they give their energy to. Women in society are harshly judged for how much of their energy they give to others which is why Ashlesha women who are largely self contained are viewed as "toxic", because our society looks down upon women who only exist for themselves, we're all taught to "give". A woman who cannot do so is seen as "toxic" because its "selfish" to keep to yourself. This is why Ashleshas are so grossly misunderstood.
Mercurial women have a very complicated relationship with sex and sexuality. This is most evident in the case of Ashlesha women. Cat yoni is the most restrictive yoni and this is not only apparent in their sexual preferences and relationships but in the way they conduct themselves generally. They are usually introverted and struggle the most with their tendency to be passive because cats are by nature, very lethargic creatures who are self involved and seldom seek outside company.
The other two mercury naks, Jyeshta (rabbit yoni) and Revati (elephant yoni) have a very different approach to sexual matters. For Jyeshta natives, its the frequency of sex that matters, since rat/rabbit yoni is considered the most sexual. They usually have a high sex drive but sex itself is impersonal for them.
However for Revati natives, given that their yoni is the largest land animal, more than frequency its the quality of sexual intimacy that satiates them. They are thrill seekers. Sex that is ordinary or "vanilla" does not fulfil them; there has to be an element of adrenaline rush, which BDSM or other taboo relationships can provide but its rare for these natives to feel pure, naked desire for someone, they crave the thrill of sex itself.
Overall, a major focus in the lives of Ashlesha natives is building an identity for themselves. Many of them cultivate a self that's entirely different to who they were growing up, with a very apparent change in style/mannerisms etc. Like snakes (to whom they are closely linked) they need to shed their skin and renew themselves again and again.
Their Mercurial gifts of intellect, wit and street smarts see them through these and allow them to flourish in every avatar.

Vedic Astrology 101 p2
Basic explanation of the houses, rulership and signification and how to read the chart (or interpret it on a basic level).
Introduction:
after explaining a little of the signs and the planets now i will attempt to introduce the houses, the rulerships and their respective significators.
i will bring the nakshatras in the next part.
click here for part one, if you wish to read it :).
The chart:
The Vedic / sideral chart has a different form of layout and from now on we will have two "designs", one is the northern form (the left side) and the southern form (the right side)
The Northern format uses triangles, the kendras (1,4,7,10) are in the middle. the difference is that the houses are fixed but not the sign
and on the southern side, the chart houses are not fixed but the signs are fixed. (picture below).
there is no "right" chart format to choose from, you can use which one is easier for you to understand, I myself use the northern chart and I will be using them for further explanations if I find them necessary but on a solid basic level, those are the charts formats.
and you can see the chart, as a circle if you wish, by using other websites like astro or astroseek which showcase the charts using a circle format independent of the system you choose to use.
The houses
classifications:
The Kendras (or Quadrants): Houses I, 4, 7 and I 0. These are highly significant houses. The Panapharas (or Successant Houses): Houses 2, 5, 8 and II. The Apoklimas (or Cadent Houses): Houses 3, 6, 9 and 12. The Trikonas (or Trines): Houses I, 5 and 9. These are highly auspicious and, along with the Kendras, determine the health, wealth, status, dignity, rise and virtue of a native. The lagna, being both a kendra and a trikona, is the most significant of all houses. The Upachayas: Houses 3, 6, 10 and II. These houses indicate struggle, competition and material achievement. The Trika Houses: Houses 6, 8 and 12. These are considered bad houses (Duhsthanas). They indicate debt, disease, loss and misery. The Ayu-sthanas (or houses of longevity) : Houses 8 and 3 (8th from the 8th). They indicate the length of life and, therefore, also the death. The Maraka-sthanas (or killer houses): Houses 2 and 7. The two halves of a horoscope: (a) Houses I to 7 indicate the invisible half and houses 7 to I indicate the visible half of the horoscope. (b) Houses 10 to 4 indicate the eastern half and houses 4 to 10 indicate the western half of the horoscope.
first house or the lagna (ascendant).
represents your body's health and appearance, character, and strength (psychical).
ruled by mars ,house of, aries, sun is the significator of the first house as it also signifies the self and the house where the sun exalts.
the second: money earned and material goods as well as the face appearance and the voice and throat.
ruled by venus, house of taurus, jupiter is the significator because is related to accumulated wealth, financial assets and speech.
the third: nervous system, siblings, short trips, communication style
ruled by mercury, house of gemini, mars is the significator because the third house is related to courage and mental ability.
the fourth: mother, emotions, family, home, origins, heredity, and ancestry.
ruled by the moon, house of cancer, moon is the significator
the fifth: love matters, pleasure, leisure, children, ego, artistic skills and intelligence.
ruled by the sun, house of leo, Jupiter again because the fifth house is related to children, education, intelligence, entertainment, cinema and drama.
the sixth: everyday life, daily work and colleagues, co-workers,health, and house of open enemies.
ruled by mercury, house of virgo, significator of the 6th House are Mars and Saturn because the sixth house is related to diseases, enemies & litigations.
the seventh: unions, marriage, other people, associations, and contracts.
ruled by venus, house of libra, venus is the significator.
the eighth: debts and crises, transformations, death, financial investments, and sexuality.
ruled by mars, house of scorpio, is Saturn because the eight house is related to longevity, joint assets of husband and wife, inlaws and their family, death and rebirth, fall and rise, occult sciences, dark knowledge, hidden things and secret affairs.
the ninth: travels, abstract and higher concepts, spirituality, and foreign matters.
ruled by jupiter, house of Sagittarius, the significators are Sun and Jupiter because the ninth house is related to long distance travels, higher education, gurus and luck in life.
the tenth: social success, professional destiny, karma, and reputation.
ruled by saturn, house of capricorn, the significator is Jupiter because the eleventh house is related to gains, profits from all sources, professional networks, friends and family wealth.
the eleventh: friends, social networks, ongs, earned gains.
ruled by saturn, house of aquarius, the significators are and the twelfth: enemies, difficulties, solitude, hidden ordeals, secrets, dissolution, subconscious, spirit guides and imagination.
ruled by jupiter, house of pisces, the significators are Saturn and Jupiter because the 12th house is related to jails, hospitals, asylums, spirituality, spiritual donations, foreign lands, imagination and the subconscious mind.
obs1: the lord of the lagna is called the lagnesh
obs2: rahu and ketu rule no house, but that depends on the author/teacher because rahu co-rules aquarius so he to some people also rules the 11th, and the same for ketu who co-rules scorpio (8th).
The end (please read)
just like the first part this was short as well, because this website has a character limiter but, i hoped i explained well enough and helped someone to understand the basics of the houses better.
for the next parts i will tell about the nakshatras and will bring charts to teach how to read on a basic level. thank you for reading <3
readings are open. click here for contact info. and please leave feedback and suggestions of posts if you desire too.

GOMBURZA (2023) - MMFF REVIEW
“Vivan Los Filipinos. Mabuhay ang mga Filipino.”
This film is the story of the three martyr priests. Three Filipinos who were part of the native community who were once under Spanish colonial rule and oppression. If you have been updated, or have been listening in your elementary Philippine history classes, it’s GOMBURZA, not MAJOHA.
Despite it being produced by Jesuit Communications, the film was able to execute (No pun intended) a factual depiction on a turning point of Philippine history without overused emphasis of religion. It was able to capture how the Catholic faith was used as an instrument of oppression during the Spanish colonial period (This was especially ironic considering how return of the religious orders, including the Jesuits, were the reason for the silencing of the secularization movement). What also impressed me is that almost every single detail in the movie, even in the dialogue, came from actual events in history. It is evident that enough research was made to make this film as accurate as possible.
The film’s cinematography was able to capture life during the period whether it was amongst the Filipino liberals, the Spanish priests, the Governor-Generals, or even the three main characters in our story. With every other scenes of the film shifting from light to dark atmospheres, this symbolized the reality of Spanish colonization — warmth, acceptance, and friendship amongst fellow Filipinos; and ruthlessness, inhumanity, and oppression from the Spaniards (and even traitors). Adding emphasis to GomBurZa’s (2023) cinematography is its sound design. Just by feeling the cinema floor rumbling and the deeply-voiced voiceover in the film’s ending segment, this film can come to a point where it deserves its own IMAX screening.
Dante Rivero and Cedrick Juan showcase over-the-top stellar performances as Padre Mariano Gomez (played by Rivero) and Padre Jose Burgos (played by Juan). Both actors have embodied their roles, not only due to the fact that they, especially Juan, share a slight resemblance with the real life Mariano Gomez and Jose Burgos. It is also because that they were able to portray their emotions from having a friendly conversation, to later condemning their unfair arrest, trial, and death.
Pepe Diokno's time and effort in conducting research and including every important detail in the production is evident in the whole film itself, as it was not only ACTUALLY based on true events, but was able to evoke emotion and outrage, just like how the Filipinos of the 1870s did at the time.
With all of this said, GomBurZa (2023) is not only a history lesson, but also an immersion into the Spanish colonial rule and the lives of the three priests. Being a history nerd and a cinephile who has since learned the names of the three martyr priests as a little girl in elementary, I can definitely say that this was one of the only film experiences where I had witnessed the breaking of the fourth wall. The whole time I was in the cinema, it felt like I was part of their conversation, like I was a witness to their lives and execution.
What also added to this experience was that I watched the film on Rizal Day, and what better way to commemorate our national hero's contribution to Philippine independence than to learn about where it all started? Like what I always preached to my family:
Without GomBurZa, there will be no Jose Rizal. Without Jose Rizal, there would be no Andres Bonifacio. Without all of them, the Philippines and the Filipino would not exist.
GomBurZa (2023) is a cathartic experience that is definitely for the family. This film is a testament to the importance of appreciating and learning our history. Hopefully it serves as a reminder of our collective past, national identity, and the importance of our freedom.

'There is a moment in NT Live’s Vanya – a one-man version of Anton Chekhov’s 1898 classic Uncle Vanya – where it feels fully possible that Andrew Scott could have cloned himself, and that three versions of him are on stage at once. He’s chameleonic enough that you’d believe it.
Vanya shows how life on a rural estate is completely upended when famous filmmaker Alexander, and his young, glamorous second wife Helena, visit. During this time, estate manager Ivan (Vanya) and country doctor Michael both fall for Helena, and consequently reevaluate their lives. The play stars Andrew Scott portraying all seven characters – including Ivan’s niece Sonya, housekeeper Maureen and local boy Liam – in a powerhouse, multipronged performance. The production enjoyed a sell-out run on the West End last year, alongside a spate of five-star reviews.
In a way, it feels like Scott’s career has been building towards Vanya, so varied are his most celebrated roles. Starting out on the stages of his native Ireland, the West End and Broadway, Scott burst onto our television screens in 2010 as the delightfully unhinged villain Jim Moriarty in BBC’s Sherlock. He gave a playful, terrifying edge to a character who is usually dull and professorial in his ruthlessness. Since then, Scott has been a mainstay of stage and screen, his characters running the gamut from Hamlet to Bond antagonist (Spectre), fantasy hero (His Dark Materials) to droll matinée idol (Present Laughter), the latter of which earned him an Olivier. With every part, Scott conveys a sense of something deeper going on under the surface – unsaid, but clearly legible on his face.
With his beloved ‘Hot Priest’, hired to officiate a family wedding in series two of Fleabag (2019), Scott further demonstrated this facility for internal performances. His clergyman forms a tentative, transgressive romantic relationship with Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s titular tearaway, which simultaneously heals and serves as rock bottom for both of them. Scott brings a quiet confidence to the priest as he flirts with abandoning his vows, trying to do the right thing no matter how much it hurts. It’s terrifically subtle, deeply felt work.
Scott is uniquely adept at holding space for emotion, as seen with Adam, a man dealing with the impact of a lifetime of loneliness in Andrew Haigh’s All of Us Strangers. He brings a guardedness to the character, who discovers that his late parents are alive and waiting for him in the house he grew up in. His visits home become the key to opening himself up to a romantic relationship with his neighbour (Paul Mescal). Throughout the film, we feel Adam’s gratitude and grief as he discovers the love and support he’s denied himself for so long. Scott is a master of smiles that never quite make it to the eyes, of lit-up eyes downplayed with hesitant smiles. His emotions are fluid, never vacillating, never overwrought.
He takes his considerable skills to new heights in Vanya, where he showcases his immense versatility as an actor. One minute, he’s a beleaguered and gossipy housekeeper, and the next – literally, the very next – he’s a bored and depressed doctor. Another moment, and he’s a young woman filled with hope and energy, and, almost in the same breath, he’s transformed into her uncle, whose decline from cringey jokester to an utterly lost man has happened before our eyes.
Scott introduces us to each of his characters slowly: establishing their physicality, their voices, their mannerisms. His transitions between them are more marked at the beginning, when he uses props and leaves space for us to register his change in posture, or physically moves from one side of the room to another. He accustoms us to the characters’ different voices – Helena’s is cold, reserved and posh; Alexander’s slow and scatterbrained; Ivan’s jovial and tense, like something could imminently break. Some characters are linked with certain props: Sonya with her tea towel, Michael with his tennis ball, Ivan, again, with his comedy sound-effects box.
But eventually these visual clues fall away, and we know everyone by their sound and posture. Soon, Scott is setting one character down and picking another up as he rises. He is both the person being blocked and the one doing the blocking, the person being comforted and the one tenderly stroking their head. Even the scenes of sexual intimacy between two characters are made believable, handled in a way so focused and naturalistic they don’t seem contrived or actorly. By the play’s end, Scott is throwing his voice as one character and reacting as another, and we know who is who by the arc of his brow, the curve of his smile or the movement of his hand.
These smaller movements, which would be felt more than seen from anywhere other than the front rows of a theatre, are what give this cinematic version of Vanya its magic. It’s in the way Sonya can handle a tea towel both nervously and with resolve, the way Michael’s slumped posture goes from listless to lustful and the way Ivan slowly crumbles, sloughing off layer upon layer of coping mechanisms. All of the decisions Scott makes as an actor are clearly rooted in a deep empathy for each of these characters. Quite a feat, then, to maintain this dedication for more characters than can be counted on one hand over the course of two hours.
Vanya is an acting masterclass, a beautiful unfurling of Scott’s multifacetedness. It’s a culmination of what we love about him as an actor: his constant, daring shapeshifting. If he was at the top of his game before, then now he is absolutely stratospheric.'

Hogg Memorial Auditorium’s transformation into a lively hub of student activity and destination for live music, performances and events has not gone unnoticed since reopening one year ago. The 91-year-old facility has garnered eight accolades from local, higher education and industry organizations for preserving its architectural and cultural heritage while bringing it into the 21st century.
But what’s happening with students inside the reimagined space is probably the most validating recognition. Longhorns are celebrating the new cutting-edge technology that enhances the audience and performer experience while expanding opportunities for hands-on learning that translates into meaningful careers and lives. Students were the catalyst for initiating the renovation project in 2011 and worked with the Division of Student Affairs’ leadership to secure funding and develop a plan. Updates include state-of-the-art audio/visual and lighting systems, and stage and production equipment, which offer students a space to develop their skills in live performing arts and event planning.

“I am very fortunate that I get to learn with this technology. We have access to state-of-the-art equipment that you would not easily find, especially at a venue for students. This unique technology motivates us to learn more about our crafts,” shared Joy Williams, a University Unions' student employee who works as a lighting operator, board designer, technician, and stagehand and a sophomore theatre and dance major from Pharr, Texas.

For Williams, who is pursuing a career as a lighting operator, working with the auditorium's production team allows her to help produce premier University events. Williams operated the lighting during President Jay Hartzell’s State of the University address on Sept. 18, and noted how working with professional event planners is helping improve her communication skills.
“I am gaining a lot of skills that can transfer to my future career. I had never truly had the chance to interact with clients before this, so this job has given me the confidence to consult and deliver with different clients and their needs,” she added.
Campus Events+Entertainment Showtime Committee’s “Asteroid City” screening in November 2023
Academy-award winning director Wes Anderson is proof of the auditorium’s transformative atmosphere. He was a student projectionist with University Unions in the early 90s at UT Austin. Anderson recognized the auditorium’s impact on his career trajectory in a special video message played before the screening of his Asteroid City movie at the venue: “I watched a lot of movies in this room, and it’s one of my favorite cinemas in the world.”
Since reopening in October 2023, 65 events have taken place at the auditorium, with 27 of those events hosted by student organizations. Campus Events+Entertainment, the largest student programming organization on campus, hosted the annual Texas Revue, the University’s student talent show, and screened the Barbie! and Asteroid City movies.
“We are able to do much more with the new technology as well as offer an increased quality of events. It feels like a UT space – it enhances the student experience,” noted Thien Nguyen, the Showtime Committee chair and a junior management information systems major from Houston.
Gary Clark Jr. performs at Hogg Memorial Auditorium in October 2023
Keeping with the auditorium’s legacy dating back to 1933, some big names have taken the stage in the past year, especially during the grand reopening celebrations. The first event held was a visit from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and blues-rock musician and Austin-native Gary Clark, Jr. headlined the first concert there.
Events of this scale show what is now possible following the $27.8 million renovation. University Unions collaborated with partners across campus, resulting in these recognitions that celebrate the innovative approach to preservation and energy-efficient design – ultimately putting students first.
Hogg Memorial Auditorium is the first renovated building at UT Austin to earn the United States Green Building Council’s Platinum certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

Coincidentally, I was watching his Nosferatu the Vampyre work starring Klaus Kinski and Isabelle Adjani, and I couldn’t help but study the two actors’ and the director’s birth charts. Interesting how their nodal influences showcase themselves through vampire concepts and such. Herzog has a lot of lunar nakshatra placements + Magha Venus-Rahu + Shatabhisha Ketu (assuming his birth time I accurate). Kinski has Ardra Rahu, and Adjani has Ardra Sun + Mula Rahu. I’m sure other planetary placements may be prominent in vampiric, illusionary films, but I mainly observe strong nodal influences in such works (example: The Twilight Saga series).
On a side note: of course, curiosity is always the cause of finding out controversial information about these sort of people… I can’t say I regret learning about Kinski’s horrific behavior or Adjani’s warped views. At least I know now! Speaking of Isabella Adjani- I realized she was romantically linked to Daniel Day-Lewis (an Ashwini Moon native) for 6 years. The magnetism between two Nodal people is undeniable.
let me add some random bollywood gossip hehe
All of these 3 stunning gorgeous women share striking resemblance with each other and they're all exes of actor Salman Khan lmao, I guess he really has a type
after his relationship with aishwarya rai ended, he launched an actress who looks just like her
her name is Sneha Ullal and unfortunately due to her struggles with her illness, she never found much success in cinema

The Majestic Bengal Tiger: A Symbol of Power and Survival
The Bengal tiger, also known as Panthera tigris tigris, is one of the most magnificent and powerful animals to ever roam the earth. Native to the Indian subcontinent, this majestic creature holds a special place not only in the wildlife of South Asia but also in the cultural and historical fabric of the region.
Origins and Natural Habitat
Bengal tigers have long been the apex predators of their domain, thriving in a wide range of habitats—from the dense tropical forests of India and Bangladesh to the mangrove swamps of the Sundarbans. Historically, Bengal tigers once roamed freely across much of South Asia, including present-day Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar. Today, however, their territory has greatly diminished due to human encroachment, deforestation, and poaching.
These tigers have developed remarkable adaptability to diverse environments. The Sundarbans, in particular, present a unique and harsh ecosystem—an endless maze of tidal rivers and mangroves where the tiger reigns supreme as the top predator. This specific population of Bengal tigers is also known for being more elusive and for swimming great distances between islands, showcasing their impressive strength and resilience.
Cultural Significance
The Bengal tiger is not just a creature of the wild; it holds deep symbolic meaning in many South Asian cultures. For centuries, it has represented power, courage, and the untamed forces of nature. In Hindu mythology, the tiger is often depicted as the vehicle of the goddess Durga, who embodies fierce protection and destruction of evil. Ancient kings of India also adopted the tiger as a symbol of their strength and dominance, often associating themselves with this majestic animal in their royal insignia.
Furthermore, the tiger plays an integral role in traditional folk tales and art across India and Bangladesh. The image of the Bengal tiger prowling through its jungle habitat has been romanticized, and its importance is reflected in everything from ancient cave paintings to modern-day cinema.
Conservation Challenges
Despite its revered status, the Bengal tiger has faced severe challenges over the past century. By the 20th century, the population of Bengal tigers saw a sharp decline due to hunting and habitat destruction. Trophy hunting, a popular pastime during British colonial rule in India, drastically reduced their numbers. Additionally, the rise of agriculture and urban expansion led to habitat loss, forcing the tigers into smaller, fragmented territories.
By the 1970s, their situation had become critical, leading to the establishment of Project Tiger in India. This ambitious initiative aimed at protecting and conserving the species through the creation of protected reserves and stricter anti-poaching laws. While these efforts have been met with some success, challenges remain, particularly in controlling illegal poaching and mitigating human-tiger conflicts.
One of the greatest modern threats to the Bengal tiger comes from the illegal wildlife trade, particularly for their skins and bones, which are highly prized in black markets. Additionally, human-tiger encounters have become more common in rural areas where habitat loss pushes tigers closer to human settlements. These encounters can often be fatal, both for the humans and the tigers involved.
Hope for the Future
Today, the Bengal tiger stands as a powerful symbol of conservation efforts. According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), there are an estimated 3,000 Bengal tigers left in the wild, with over half of them residing in India. Efforts are being made to protect their natural habitats and curb illegal poaching, but the battle is far from over.
What remains hopeful, however, is the growing global awareness of the need to protect these incredible animals. Ecotourism, stricter wildlife protection laws, and community-based conservation programs are all playing a part in safeguarding the future of Bengal tigers. The resurgence of the tiger population in certain areas, though small, shows that with collective effort, the Bengal tiger can once again flourish.
Conclusion
The Bengal tiger is not just a symbol of nature’s power; it represents the delicate balance between humans and the wild. Its struggle for survival mirrors the broader environmental challenges we face today—deforestation, climate change, and species extinction. By understanding and respecting the history of the Bengal tiger, we take a step toward ensuring its future and the preservation of the natural world.
Let us continue to admire and protect this majestic animal, not just for its beauty and strength but as a reminder of the deep connections we share with the wild places of the earth. The story of the Bengal tiger is one of resilience, and it’s up to us to ensure that this story continues to unfold for generations to come.

The Role of Regional Content in India's Streaming Dominance
India's rise as the world's biggest streaming market is not solely due to its vast population and growing internet user base. A crucial factor driving this growth is the increasing demand for regional content. As streaming platforms recognize and cater to India's diverse linguistic and cultural landscape, regional content has become a pivotal component of their strategies. This article explores the role of regional content in India's streaming dominance, highlighting its impact on audience engagement, the success stories of regional productions, and the future of regional content in the digital entertainment ecosystem.
1. The Linguistic and Cultural Diversity of India:
India is a mosaic of languages and cultures, with over 1,600 languages spoken across the country. Each state and region has its own distinct cultural identity, which is reflected in its entertainment preferences. While Hindi and English content have traditionally dominated the mainstream media, there is a vast audience that prefers content in their native languages. Recognizing this, streaming platforms have increasingly invested in regional content to tap into these diverse markets.
2. Major Streaming Platforms Investing in Regional Content:
Global and local streaming platforms are expanding their libraries to include a wide range of regional content. For instance, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have produced and acquired numerous regional films and series. Netflix’s "Paava Kadhaigal" (Tamil) and Amazon Prime’s "C U Soon" (Malayalam) are prime examples of successful regional content that have garnered critical acclaim and substantial viewership.
Local platforms like Hoichoi, which focuses on Bengali content, and Sun NXT, catering to South Indian languages, have also seen significant growth. These platforms offer a plethora of movies, TV shows, and original productions in regional languages, attracting a loyal user base.
3. The Success Stories of Regional Productions:
Several regional productions have not only achieved commercial success but also gained critical acclaim and international recognition. For instance, the Tamil film "Super Deluxe" on Netflix received praise for its storytelling and direction, reaching audiences beyond Tamil Nadu. Similarly, the Telugu film "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo," available on Sun NXT, became a blockbuster hit, showcasing the potential of regional cinema.
Regional web series are also making waves. Amazon Prime’s "The Family Man," though primarily in Hindi, incorporates significant portions in Tamil and Telugu, resonating with a broader audience. This blend of languages within a single series reflects India's linguistic diversity and the streaming platforms’ efforts to cater to it.
4. The Impact on Audience Engagement and Subscription Growth:
The availability of regional content has led to higher audience engagement and subscription growth for streaming platforms. Viewers are more likely to subscribe to a service that offers content in their native language. For instance, a Tamil-speaking viewer in Chennai is more inclined to subscribe to a platform that provides a robust library of Tamil movies and shows.
This strategy has proven effective for platforms like Disney+ Hotstar, which offers a mix of regional and international content. Their exclusive rights to broadcast the Indian Premier League (IPL) in multiple languages have significantly boosted subscriptions, demonstrating the power of regional content in driving user engagement.
5. The Role of Local Talent and Production Houses:
The rise of regional content has also given a platform to local talent and production houses. Filmmakers, actors, and writers from different regions are now able to showcase their work to a national and international audience. This democratization of content creation has led to a surge in high-quality regional productions, further enriching the streaming libraries.
Production houses like Arka Media Works in Telugu cinema and D2R Films in Tamil cinema are producing content that competes with Bollywood in terms of quality and storytelling. Streaming platforms are partnering with these local production houses to bring regional stories to the forefront.
6. Future Trends in Regional Content:
The future of regional content in India's streaming market looks promising. With the continuous growth of internet penetration and smartphone usage, more users from rural and semi-urban areas are coming online, increasing the demand for content in regional languages. Streaming platforms are likely to further expand their regional content libraries, offering more original productions and exclusive releases.
Emerging technologies like AI and machine learning will also play a role in enhancing the regional content experience. Personalized recommendations based on language preferences and viewing habits will make it easier for users to discover regional content that resonates with them.
Regional content has been a driving force behind India's dominance in the global streaming market. By catering to the diverse linguistic and cultural preferences of Indian audiences, streaming platforms have successfully engaged a vast and varied user base. The success of regional films and series highlights the immense potential of this segment, and the future looks bright as platforms continue to invest in regional content. As the demand for localized content grows, India’s position as the world's biggest streaming market is set to strengthen further.

Question: This is for everyone. MC-Wylde, a studio company established by a White man who profited off Asian artists and stories, have recently been renamed to PanAsian Cinema by Beijing Lee, underscoring his continued struggle in fostering a diverse and authentic representation in his studios. Within the last year, PanAsian Cinema was the first one to have Native and Indigenous Americans as main characters in a successful film while you will enter Hollywood Studios as president with growing discontent amongst your Latino staff and artists. What can you do to create a platform for your Latino artists, while also maintaining the space for your non-Latino artists? Damien Avanda: Creating a platform for Latino artists is not just a responsibility; it's a moral imperative. As president, I will prioritize fostering an environment where all artists, regardless of their background, feel valued and supported. By creating a space where all voices are valued and celebrated, we can create a more vibrant and diverse entertainment industry for everyone.
Question: Besides diversity and inclusion, what would your other priorities be in your first year as president? Damien Avanda: In addition to diversity and inclusion, my other priorities in my first year as president would include fostering a culture of innovation and creativity within Hollywood Studios. I would work to create an environment where artists feel empowered to take risks and push the boundaries of storytelling, resulting in more dynamic and impactful content. Additionally, I would prioritize investing in talent development and mentorship programs to nurture the next generation of filmmakers and creatives. By prioritizing sustainability and ethical practices, we can create a studio that not only produces great content but also makes a positive impact on the world. Darius Booker: In addition to diversity and inclusion, my other priorities in my first year as president would include promoting transparency and accountability within Hollywood Studios. I would work to ensure that all studio operations are conducted ethically and in accordance with industry standards, and I would prioritize implementing measures to root out corruption and promote ethical governance. By prioritizing mentorship and career development, we can ensure that Hollywood Studios remains a place where artists can thrive and grow throughout their careers.
Question: This is for Darius: recently, you've been under the spotlight for your publications in the newspaper The Chariot being very critical of Beijing Lee, the first Asian elected president of PanAsian Cinema. If you were to become president, how would you forge a relationship with Beijing to allow better collaboration between the two studios and also create an environment where Asians can also be represented in Hollywood, not just MC-Wylde. Darius Booker: Firstly, I must address the criticisms leveled against me. While my past publications may have been contentious, I recognize the importance of fostering positive relationships within the industry, regardless of personal opinions. If elected president, I will extend a hand of collaboration to President Beijing Lee and PanAsian Cinema. I believe in the power of dialogue and understanding, and I'm committed to creating an environment where all voices, including Asian voices, are heard and celebrated in Hollywood, transcending geographical boundaries. By working together, we can pave the way for a more inclusive and representative industry that embraces diversity in all its forms.
Question: This is for Damien: Lawrence Harland was voted off of Hollywood Studios and Emerson Wright has tirelessly worked the last five years in removing the system and structures that Harland has created to benefit White supremacy. With the recent marriage of your brother into the Harland family, what can you tell to the audience who are very wary of you becoming president and possibly increasing the influence of the Harland family with your presidency? Damien Avanda: I understand the concerns surrounding my brother's marriage and its potential implications on my candidacy. However, I want to assure the audience that I am my own person with my own values and vision for Hollywood Studios. I have openly spoken out against rumors of being influenced by the Harland family, and I remain committed to continuing President Emerson Wright's legacy of challenging systems of White supremacy and corruption within the industry. My focus is on fostering a Hollywood that embraces diversity and inclusivity, where talent and merit are the sole determinants of success. Rest assured, my allegiance lies with the values of progress and equality, not with any familial ties or past associations.
Question: This is for Kimona Lange. You've ran for president for MC-Wylde before, a studio that historically has focused on being a platform for Asian storytelling and lost to Beijing Lee. What made you believe that you were the best candidate in continuing the legacy of MC-Wylde and what about your experience would make you different than the other four male candidates vying for Hollywood Studios? Kimona Lange: Thank you for the question. While my previous candidacy for MC-Wylde may not have been successful, it provided me with valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing studios dedicated to diverse storytelling. My belief in my candidacy for Hollywood Studios lies in my commitment to inclusivity and my experience in navigating the complexities of the entertainment industry. As the wife of Derek Lange, the current Chief of Staff of Hollywood Studios, I bring a unique perspective that combines firsthand knowledge of the industry with a deep understanding of the importance of diversity and representation. While some may view me as representing White feminism, I want to emphasize that my goal is to build upon President Emerson Wright's legacy of providing a platform for all voices. What sets me apart from the other candidates is not just my gender but my dedication to creating a Hollywood that embraces diversity in all its forms. I am committed to amplifying underrepresented voices and ensuring that Hollywood Studios becomes a beacon of inclusivity and equality.
Question: This is for Dubois Carmichael. Hollywood Studios has become a beacon of opportunities, not only for White artists, but for all. Cygna Entertainment solely focuses on Black artists and storytelling. If elected president, how would you continue the legacy of Hollywood Studios, while also allowing Cygna Entertainment to flourish? Dubois Carmichael: Thank you for the question. As someone who deeply values diversity and inclusivity, I believe in fostering an environment where all voices are heard and celebrated. Hollywood Studios has made significant strides in embracing diversity under President Emerson Wright's leadership, and my goal as president would be to continue and expand upon this legacy. While Cygna Entertainment focuses on Black storytelling, Hollywood Studios has the potential to be a platform for all marginalized voices, including those within the Black community. My vision is to create a symbiotic relationship between Hollywood Studios and Cygna Entertainment, where both entities can thrive while supporting and uplifting each other. I am committed to ensuring that Cygna Entertainment receives the resources and support it needs to continue telling Black stories authentically and with integrity. At the same time, I will work to ensure that Hollywood Studios remains a welcoming space for artists of all backgrounds, where diversity is not just acknowledged but celebrated. By fostering collaboration and mutual respect between Hollywood Studios and Cygna Entertainment, we can create a more inclusive and representative entertainment industry that reflects the rich diversity of our world.
Question: This is for Julian Lunacharski. Being a new member of the industry, one might think that you have a very idealist mindset and don't have the practical skills to preside over a mega studio like Hollywood Studios. Can you talk about your experience with directing and how you have what it takes to be president? Julian Lunacharski: Thank you for the question. While it's true that I am relatively new to the industry compared to some of my fellow candidates, I believe that my fresh perspective and innovative ideas are assets rather than liabilities. As a director, I may not have decades of experience, but I have already proven my ability to create successful and impactful films. My approach to directing has always been collaborative, working closely with my team to bring visions to life on the screen. This experience has taught me valuable leadership skills, including the importance of communication, adaptability, and creative problem-solving. Furthermore, my commitment to diversifying Hollywood and challenging its status quo stems from my own experiences as a filmmaker. I have seen firsthand the barriers that marginalized voices face in this industry, and I am passionate about using my platform to create change. While I may be idealistic, I am also pragmatic. I understand the complexities of running a mega studio like Hollywood Studios, and I am prepared to surround myself with a diverse and experienced team who can complement my vision with practical expertise. Together, we can work to create a more inclusive and representative entertainment industry that truly reflects the world we live in.
Question: What are your closing remarks? Please convince the audience why they should support your candidacy? Damien Avanda: Thank you for the opportunity to address the audience. As a candidate for president of Hollywood Studios, I am deeply committed to creating a studio that celebrates diversity, fosters creativity, and promotes integrity. Throughout my career, I have seen firsthand the power of storytelling to inspire change and bring people together. As president, I will work tirelessly to ensure that all voices are heard and valued within the studio, and that Hollywood remains a beacon of inclusivity and innovation. I ask for your support in this journey towards a brighter, more equitable future for our industry and our community. Together, we can build a Hollywood that reflects the rich tapestry of human experience and inspires generations to come. Thank you. Dubois Carmichael: Thank you for your attention today. As a candidate for president of Hollywood Studios, I bring a wealth of experience in promoting diversity, fostering collaboration, and driving positive change within the industry. My vision for Hollywood is one of inclusivity, authenticity, and social responsibility. I am committed to creating a studio where all voices are heard and valued, and where creativity thrives. I ask for your support in this endeavor, as together, we can build a better, more equitable future for Hollywood and beyond. Thank you. My vision for Hollywood is one of inclusivity, integrity, and social justice. I believe that by working together, we can create a studio that reflects the values of our community and serves as a beacon of progress for the industry. I humbly ask for your support in this journey towards a more equitable and inclusive future for Hollywood. Thank you. Kimona Lange: Thank you for listening to my vision for Hollywood Studios. As a candidate for president, I am deeply committed to upholding President Emerson Wright's legacy of diversity, inclusivity, and integrity. My experience in the industry and my dedication to promoting collaboration and innovation make me uniquely qualified to lead the studio into the future.
