Tokimeki Memorial: forever with you Emotional launches May 8 in Japan - Gematsu

Romance visual novel remaster Tokimeki Memorial: forever with you Emotional will launch for Switch on May 8 in Japan, Konami announced.

The standard edition will cost 6,600 yen, while the Deluxe Edition will cost 9,680 yen. Both will be available physically and digitally. The Deluxe Edition includes a digital content set featuring the opening movie without subtitles; the digital soundtrack with background music from Tokimeki Memorial (1994) and Tokimeki Memorial: forever with you Emotional (1995, 1996); and a gallery of over 280 character illustration used for key visuals, merchandise, and other promotional content.

About

Tokimeki Memorial is a romance simulation game celebrating its 30th anniversary. Tokimeki Memorial: Forever with You Emotional is built around the concept of “reliving memories, just as they were, on Nintendo Switch,” with the original game’s feel and gameplay carefully preserved. Additionally, new features such as the “Emotional Voice System” (EVS) and the ability to switch between new and original character illustrations are available for players to enjoy.

Emotional Voice System (EVS)

EVS is a feature first introduced in Tokimeki Memorial 2, and later used in the series, where characters will call your name using their voice. Several preset names are included in the game, but a network connection is required if you wish to create a new name. (Note: The ability to create new names for EVS may be discontinued at any time, with prior notice.)

Switchable Character Illustrations

You can switch character illustrations (both portraits and stills) during after-school events and dates, as well as change the window’s font. You can choose from the following four combinations:

Original – Uses the original character illustrations and fonts.

Original + New Font – Uses the original character illustrations, but some fonts are high-resolution versions.

New Graphics – Uses new character illustrations, while the command selection screen uses the original font.

New Graphics + New Font – Uses new character illustrations and some high-resolution fonts.

Hot Take on the Narumi parents and the Wolf/Canele couple

Okay, I’m not saying they’re the same characters bc they obviously are not; the girls’ eye and hair colors don’t match + I don’t want to headcanon/theorize that Canele girl died or somethin’ (I love her ‘yo), that’s why Wolf ended up with Ayako if he’s Yusuke Narumi. I mean, dark hair, blue eyes, rough personality and past does match both men after all (even the same middle-school lol). 

Maybe the hairstyle is slightly different, but the argument is not about them as the same character anyway. Like I said tho, I actually hate it if he’s the same guy, but the girls are different bc that means Wolf/Canele aren’t endgame lol.

However, I argue that it could have been so amazing and wholesome, plot wise, if HoneyWorks just decided to make them the same couple and it’s just the same story. 

Like, just imagine if they just made Ayako and Yusuke turn out to be Canele and Wolf just years later.  Both stories are about a cheerful girl doing her best to show someone - the guy they ended up with that there is still light, hope and happiness in life despite she herself facing challenges and battles of her own (which the guy ended up helping her as a sign that her actions are finally bearing fruit and he finally believed). 

Shiawase could have been more touching than it already is if it was a sequel to Wolf, and the great and touching story of the Canele/Wolf couple could have been explored deeper if Mr. Darling and Shiawase were actually their story years later too! Not to mention, the umbrella parallel could have been more significant.

Like, it’s canon that they’re in the same universe, but they literally never interacted with anyone else unlike the Sekoi trio appearing in Ima Suki ni Naru and Kotoba Iranai Yakusoku with Ai No Scenario in  Boku ga Namae wo Yobu Hi, so they can be in any timeline. 

It would have been so beautiful to me, tbh.

Anyway, I, again, made this long enough for simple thoughts lol. Maybe I just miss Wolf/Canele XD. It’s fine that HoneyWorks missed this opportunity, I just love a good parallel.

this is narumama and narupapa :) narumom is ayako narumi (nee fujita)!! she's the energetic and lovely mom of our narusibs and the wife of narudad, yusuke! the image is from their novel called mister darling ~

now a rlly fun part abt the narumis is that their kids inherited a bit of themselves in their stories, not just their appearances!! although u can notice, both mona and sena got their father's eyes and mom's hair. their songs r mister darling && shiawase. respectively both sung by chicohani . anyway onto inheritance, sena followed her the footsteps of ayako, who is a fashion designer, by becoming a model and being the creator of HANICOS and HoneyxHoney (fashion and makeup brands in-universe). meanwhile mona is taking up being an idol much like yusuke who is a musician. shiawase is all abt how narupapa used to be detached from his parents, being rebellious and frustrated with them as he tried to be independent, which is a trait we can see in mona a lot towards sena, especially in her struggles during watashi no tenshi when she debuted. ultimately, both yusuke and mona realized how much their family + sena only wanted the best for them and that they will always be their biggest supporters no matter what. mona has a shit ton of insecurities in who she is and how she measures up to sena, and there was a big chunk of her story that centered on how she feels like she can't even stand on the same platform as sena, let alone be treated like her equal. if that was the case, then what about the promise she made to sena that one day, they would stand on the same stage together? was that impossible now too?

also. mona's insecurities can be flexible a lot, considering how she appears on a lot of honeyworks media. sometimes it will be in the form of how she feels like she could never match up to sena, sometimes it will be how she is simply riding off sena's coattails, among other things. the main point is mona gets fixated easily on her negative experiences and feedback, which leads to how she feels lesser.

sena on the other hand, is literally tsukasa tenma level of supportive when it comes to their siblings. ive talked abt it before but if tsukasa and sena met i think theyd just talk nonstop abt their adorable sisters. sena goes to nearly all of mona's concerts, covered in obscene amounts of mona merchandise and cheering her on because thats the kind of sister she is. even when mona began to resent her and shy away from her, she wanted to show her that she would love mona no matter what, whether as an idol, as her sister, as her closest friend and confidant, as her angel. hence how she is always lovingly singing "my little sister, i love you. my little angel, very very cute. do you know what i mean?" AND. "you can make expressions like that? it's the first i've seen it, you look so cute. we have our pride and confidence, so come with me, take a look at the world around us!" in watashi no tenshi.

but my favorite line will always be "to the dreams you've drawn for yourself, to the dreams i've drawn for myself, let's make them all come true together, 'kay? pinky swear."

Akatsuki no Yona Stage Play (2016)

The first Yona of the Dawn stage play was curiously not about the beginning of the story nor it was a direct sequel to the events covered in the anime season in 2014-15.

The play covered the Water Tribe Arc, from volumes 14 to 16 of the manga. Reportedely it also featured flashbacks to the early chapters, likely to give some context.

It ran from March 16 to 21, 2016 in Tokyo.
