Hot Take on the Narumi parents and the Wolf/Canele couple

Okay, I’m not saying they’re the same characters bc they obviously are not; the girls’ eye and hair colors don’t match + I don’t want to headcanon/theorize that Canele girl died or somethin’ (I love her ‘yo), that’s why Wolf ended up with Ayako if he’s Yusuke Narumi. I mean, dark hair, blue eyes, rough personality and past does match both men after all (even the same middle-school lol). 

Maybe the hairstyle is slightly different, but the argument is not about them as the same character anyway. Like I said tho, I actually hate it if he’s the same guy, but the girls are different bc that means Wolf/Canele aren’t endgame lol.

However, I argue that it could have been so amazing and wholesome, plot wise, if HoneyWorks just decided to make them the same couple and it’s just the same story. 

Like, just imagine if they just made Ayako and Yusuke turn out to be Canele and Wolf just years later.  Both stories are about a cheerful girl doing her best to show someone - the guy they ended up with that there is still light, hope and happiness in life despite she herself facing challenges and battles of her own (which the guy ended up helping her as a sign that her actions are finally bearing fruit and he finally believed). 

Shiawase could have been more touching than it already is if it was a sequel to Wolf, and the great and touching story of the Canele/Wolf couple could have been explored deeper if Mr. Darling and Shiawase were actually their story years later too! Not to mention, the umbrella parallel could have been more significant.

Like, it’s canon that they’re in the same universe, but they literally never interacted with anyone else unlike the Sekoi trio appearing in Ima Suki ni Naru and Kotoba Iranai Yakusoku with Ai No Scenario in  Boku ga Namae wo Yobu Hi, so they can be in any timeline. 

It would have been so beautiful to me, tbh.

Anyway, I, again, made this long enough for simple thoughts lol. Maybe I just miss Wolf/Canele XD. It’s fine that HoneyWorks missed this opportunity, I just love a good parallel. 

Again, I’m so sorry for making this long lol. I respect anyone else’s opinion about this.

Okay, I’m gonna say it. This is a very underrated aiyuu frame.

I think it’s adorable as hell, as this is either just before or just after they recorded for their song Hitsuyou Fukaketsu, where Aizou plays the guitar (and sings) while Yujiro sings without an instrument.

Yujiro probably asked Aizou to let him try it (probably spurred on by a fight of sorts tbf lol) and you can see how hard he’s focusing on playing the guitar but doing terribly.

And Aizou is just watching him, covering his ears because wow there’s something Yujiro’s bad at! But no matter what the reason for Aizou’s grin is, he’s definitely thinking that Yujiro’s really bad at this, and it looks like he’s also thinking about how downright cute Yujiro looks playing his guitar.

It’s a sweet moment between the two- and very adorable. It honestly reminds me of the Narumi parents with Yusuke letting Ayako play his guitar

Ayako: Really? You don’t want a hamburg steak?

Sena: Yeah, I’m…

Mona: Wow, it’s so good! Today’s hamburg steaks are awesome! Thanks, Mom!

Sena: (Ugh… The way Mona’s eating makes it look so good.)

Sena: (But wait, no! I’ve decided to slim down!)

Mona: Are you sure you don’t want any, Big Sis? Can I have your share, then?

Sena: Yeah, go ahead, but…

Ayako: Are you feeling unwell, Sena? Or is this because of your job?

Sena: I’m fine. It’s for work. I’m going to be modelling in a swimsuit at the beach soon, you see.

Sena: So I figured that I had to slim down a little for it.

Mona: Eh?! You too, Big Sis?

Sena: Eh? You too, Mona?

Mona: I’m gonna be filmed for a TV show, but I think I’ll be at the seaside around the same time as your shoot.

Mona: Lemme see—... Take a look at the map on my phone. I’ll be at this beach over here.

Sena: Ah, I think I’ll be at the same beach as you! And the date’s…

Sena: (Wait, isn’t this the same date as my shoot? So occurrences like this do happen after all!)

Sena: Hey, Mona, let’s play at the beach after we’re both done with work!

Sena: Since we’ll be at the beach, we might as well do something summery.

Mona: Besides, we don’t know if we’ll even have free time after our jobs, y’know?

Ayako: Oh Mona, you’re actually happy about it, aren’t you?

Mona: Th-that…!

Mona: …may be true.

Ayako: Hehe, it sure has been some time since you girls last hung out together, right? You two are always so busy these days.

Sena: Yeah, guess so! I’m looking forward to it even more now.

Sena: (If Mona’s going to see me in my swimsuit… it’s all the more reason for me to keep up my diet!)

Sena: (I want to be her ideal big sister, after all.)

Ayako: …Oh my? You’ve stopped eating, Mona… 

Mona: Y-yeah…

Mona: For some reason, I’ve just became conscious about how I ate the hamburg steaks without a care in the world.

Mona: And I even ate Big Sis’s share too.

Sena: Oh no, now even Mona’s conscious of her diet.

Ayako: Geez, I wonder if I should stop cooking for a while… Just kidding.

Mona: Eh, I don’t want you to!

Mona: I’m gonna eat after all! I’ll eat and exercise, and I’ll maintain my figure through it all!

Staff: Narumi! This is a gift from the staff. Please help yourself to some, if you’d like!

Sena: Thank you very much. I’m on a restricted diet at the moment, but I appreciate your sentiments.

Sena continued to abide by her restricted diet.

this is narumama and narupapa :) narumom is ayako narumi (nee fujita)!! she's the energetic and lovely mom of our narusibs and the wife of narudad, yusuke! the image is from their novel called mister darling ~

now a rlly fun part abt the narumis is that their kids inherited a bit of themselves in their stories, not just their appearances!! although u can notice, both mona and sena got their father's eyes and mom's hair. their songs r mister darling && shiawase. respectively both sung by chicohani . anyway onto inheritance, sena followed her the footsteps of ayako, who is a fashion designer, by becoming a model and being the creator of HANICOS and HoneyxHoney (fashion and makeup brands in-universe). meanwhile mona is taking up being an idol much like yusuke who is a musician. shiawase is all abt how narupapa used to be detached from his parents, being rebellious and frustrated with them as he tried to be independent, which is a trait we can see in mona a lot towards sena, especially in her struggles during watashi no tenshi when she debuted. ultimately, both yusuke and mona realized how much their family + sena only wanted the best for them and that they will always be their biggest supporters no matter what. mona has a shit ton of insecurities in who she is and how she measures up to sena, and there was a big chunk of her story that centered on how she feels like she can't even stand on the same platform as sena, let alone be treated like her equal. if that was the case, then what about the promise she made to sena that one day, they would stand on the same stage together? was that impossible now too?

also. mona's insecurities can be flexible a lot, considering how she appears on a lot of honeyworks media. sometimes it will be in the form of how she feels like she could never match up to sena, sometimes it will be how she is simply riding off sena's coattails, among other things. the main point is mona gets fixated easily on her negative experiences and feedback, which leads to how she feels lesser.

sena on the other hand, is literally tsukasa tenma level of supportive when it comes to their siblings. ive talked abt it before but if tsukasa and sena met i think theyd just talk nonstop abt their adorable sisters. sena goes to nearly all of mona's concerts, covered in obscene amounts of mona merchandise and cheering her on because thats the kind of sister she is. even when mona began to resent her and shy away from her, she wanted to show her that she would love mona no matter what, whether as an idol, as her sister, as her closest friend and confidant, as her angel. hence how she is always lovingly singing "my little sister, i love you. my little angel, very very cute. do you know what i mean?" AND. "you can make expressions like that? it's the first i've seen it, you look so cute. we have our pride and confidence, so come with me, take a look at the world around us!" in watashi no tenshi.

but my favorite line will always be "to the dreams you've drawn for yourself, to the dreams i've drawn for myself, let's make them all come true together, 'kay? pinky swear."

Mona: Whoa… This is…!

Mona: Wasn’t this taken while we were playing together? Where did you get this?

Sena: You know, the photographer I was working with today sent it to me.

Sena: She told me that we looked so picturesque that she found herself taking this picture without fully realising it.

Sena: Of course, this picture won’t be featured in magazines, or any other forms of media, so don’t worry, okay?

Mona: I see—... It’s amazing. Yeah, it’s a great picture, if I do say so myself!

Sena: I know, right?! Considering how it isn’t easy for us to take pictures while we’re not working, I’m so happy to have this!

Yusuke: Yes, it truly is a great photo. I want to use it as the wallpaper for my phone.

Ayako: I’ve got to add it to our family’s photo album! Or, wait, we could print it out and put it up by the front door, right?

Mona: No way, it’d be embarrassing to have a swimsuit photo of us right up by the front door—.

Sena: (I’m glad that all of them liked it.)

Sena: I want to go to the beach with you again next year, Mona.

Ayako: Eh—?! Let your Daddy and me tag along for your next trip too! Let’s go on a trip as a family every once in a while!

Yusuke: Yeah, that sounds good. Let’s all go on a trip once your workloads settle down a little, you two.

Mona: Ehh, if that’s so, I wanna go on an overseas trip, or something!

Yusuke: Looks like the hurdle’s been raised again, huh?

Ayako: Sena, are you going to be eating dinner today?

Sena: Yup! I will!

Sena: (A family trip, huh… I’ve got a lot of work to handle at the moment, but… we’ll definitely go on that trip together someday…!)

Akatsuki no Yona Stage Play (2016)

The first Yona of the Dawn stage play was curiously not about the beginning of the story nor it was a direct sequel to the events covered in the anime season in 2014-15.

The play covered the Water Tribe Arc, from volumes 14 to 16 of the manga. Reportedely it also featured flashbacks to the early chapters, likely to give some context.

It ran from March 16 to 21, 2016 in Tokyo.
