MYCROFT INTERLUDE - an imagined conversation between Holmes and Mycroft in 1888, after the events of the Greek Interpreter, when Watson and Mycroft meet for the first time. I was thinking about the 1885 Labouchere Amendment and Mycroft being protective of his younger brother.

Hello! Has been eager to share my piece from Holmestice with y’all. A present for @oui_oui! We were supposed to keep it a secret but, since the reveals were posted, i figured i might as well show mine here.

Thats was my first and quite joyful experience with Holmestice, would like to join the event like that next year! Thank you to people who are making such things, it is very nice and keeps the community connected to each other in a way, and that’s lovely.

INTERLUDE - in which everyone goes to various clubs and no one has a good time.

This is part of the Watson's Sketchbook series and really will only make sense in context of previous updates!

The text of Holmes' letter is almost entirely pulled from the ABSOLUTELY BRUTAL opening of A SCANDAL IN BOHEMIA:

It was not that he felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler. All emotions, and that one particularly, were abhorrent to his cold, precise but admirably balanced mind. He was, I take it, the most perfect reasoning and observing machine that the world has seen, but as a lover he would have placed himself in a false position. He never spoke of the softer passions, save with a gibe and a sneer. They were admirable things for the observer—excellent for drawing the veil from men’s motives and actions. But for the trained reasoner to admit such intrusions into his own delicate and finely adjusted temperament was to introduce a distracting factor which might throw a doubt upon all his mental results. Grit in a sensitive instrument, or a crack in one of his own high-power lenses, would not be more disturbing than a strong emotion in a nature such as his.

Part of the reason Sherlock doesn't think there's anything wrong with not knowing who the prime minister is : he knows his brother, and his brother is more important than the prime minister.

I love the Holmes brothers so freaking much. Just two little weirdo autistic nerd bros who vibe and play little deduction games while looking out a window. Sherlock comes to Mycroft when he needs advice (yes that’s canon, “again and again I have taken a problem to him”- The Greek Interpreter) and Mycroft comes to Sherlock when he needs help (The Bruce-Partington Plans) when Sherlock has to fake his death to avoid Moriarty’s gang, Mycroft is his only confidante, and financially supports him through those years.

We don’t see much of them together in canon, but when we do, they’re awesome.
