Dreamer. Interested in various stuff, but mostly Loki. Nothing in Phase Three and beyond is canon.

I rather suspect that BBC Sherlock never recovered from losing Paul McGuigan.
#s3 and s4 completely missed this with john :(#reblog#asip in particular does such an incredible job of putting us in sherlock's head and making us deduce with him#s4 on the other hand. . .

@sleipnirlokison Thank you so, so much for these!
100% agree with you about how things went downhill and John. :(
I didn't know PM had a hand in casting AS, and it was such a great choice.
I love the bit where he talks about directing the scene of John and Mycroft's first meeting, and how he told MF to be a solider.
And we have to thank PM for the soundtrack, which is such an instrumental part (no pun intended) of the show. Interesting that the scene of Sherlock jumping around with glee after Lestrade invites him to the crime scene originally had intense, serious music. . . It certainly would not work as well as the final version.
I rather suspect that BBC Sherlock never recovered from losing Paul McGuigan.

Mycroft was recruited while he was still in university, and started working as soon as he graduated (and he worked his way up quickly).
Sherlock, on the other hand, took a long time to more or less get his act together. The period right after he graduated was particularly chaotic. Those were some of his worst days as an addict, and he didn't know what to do with his life. Knowing what Mycroft was like at the same age drove him mad.

One detail that I love in this flashback is that Mycroft, impeccably dressed, sits against Sherlock's side on the mattress.
Mycroft is a very fastidious character. Sherlock is willing to wade through skips or dead blokes' dirty underwear if a case requires it, but the elder Holmes doesn't have his brother's bravery in this area. Yet here he is, sitting on an appallingly dirty, disgusting mattress that must smell horrible. And there's zero need for him to do that; he could have just reached down for the list. But he chose to sit with Sherlock.

Sherlock is a trust fund kid? Mycroft paid the bills? They saved money by eating Mrs. Hudson's food? Sebastian's big check was used exclusively for cab rides? Sherlock could get refunds for all his cab rides after catching Jeff Hope?
the real mystery of bbc sherlock is how sherlock and john were affording £25 cabs three or four times per episode
