Okay but a bit of a rant here. People have their spaces in a fandom I can accept that, but people on both sides go into the spaces they shouldn't be. I did this before too, I know that, but I learned something called fandom fucking etiquette, for which I have seen an ungodly amount of people(especially in the jily tag) not follow.

At this point, I've felt more hate from this fandom then anything fuckin fun anymore because if you don't ship a popular ship and follow particular headcanons for a character, you can't interact with 90% of this fandom. I have been called homophobic three times because I don't like Jegulus, and it makes me feel like shit.

I'd bet you 100 bucks that someone would call me racist if I said I didn't like the Desi James hc, or fatphobic because I don't like the plus sized Lily hc, despite the fact that I am both Desi and fat. Hell I don't like most of the 'diversity' hcs. Am I gonna be bitchy about it? No, because those hcs aren't the end of the world. I still interact with content with hcs that I don't personally hc. But some people do act like it's the end of the world, and apparently that's my fault.

Now I've noticed this fandom has "Take the characters back from JKR" mentality, hence the diverse hcs, and I will ask you this, you know that's not gonna work, right? You can't take the characters from the person who wrote them. They still belong to her, it doesn't matter if you change everything about them, they still belong to her. She's a bitch and I hate everything she stands for(i am everything she stands against), but it's not doing anything, I have trans and queer friends who recognize it's not doing anything, because they are still her characters, and you can't take them away from her.

Now I mention this because people(people like me) who don't ship ships or hc which are diverse get hate for it, even if we don't support jkr. But we're the same. We are reaching the same destination, which is nowhere. I've said it before, if the fandom ever starts dying down I wouldn't be surprised if she becomes more of a bitch to bring it back.

I genuinely don't feel safe in this fandom anymore and I've seen plenty of people that don't either.

I’m seeing too much of this across all channels and I need to write a little something on my humble blog with my humble amount of followers, because how else am I going to get this off my chest.

Some of you need to remember that this whole world we created is pure, fiction. It’s based off fiction and we are building off fiction, forking off in different directions with characters we love.

The canon vs fanon debate is ongoing and quite honestly, mind numbingly pointless and you all consistently contradict and overlap one another with whatever discourse you’re riding that week. You lot wanna argue a point by saying, “these are my hc’s and I can do what I like with them stop taking everything so seriously teeheehehehe” then uno reverse that the next minute by screaming, “that would never happen *insert name* is this or is that” but fuck canon right? Fuck JKR? Or is it more, fuck the parts of canon I don’t like and I’ll take the parts I do so I can shove them down the throats of creators who represent these characters in an opposing light. The amount of posts I’ve seen floating around these sites that are people preaching to their audiences about how dumb they are (unless it’s meant to be satire, I’m not a brainless sensitive lump with no humour bone) for liking certain things, or enjoying certain things, or preferring certain aspects in a character is astounding. Take pause before jumping on your high horse over a fictional character and shaming people for moulding them into what they enjoy. Is this not the beauty of fiction, imagination; the ability to twist and turn over different traits and appearances within our palms and make them into our own little dress up dolls?

Here’s my two cents as a WOLFSTAR artist, not a Marauders— if I want to make Sirius into a teacup and Remus into a sea slug and have him curl up to sleep every night in his bowl, then I’ll do that with fine china detail. If I want to make Sirius someone who refuses to wear nothing but a specific shade of tangerine and Velcro strapped trainers, I will. One day I might throw Moony into a boxing ring and have him be a middleweight champion, stained by the blood of his opponent whilst his wolf is chomping at the bit to come out just before the full moon threatens to take centre stage. If I want to make Sirius 6ft tall and Remus 5ft1, I will. Why not draw an AU of them as the rocks from Everything, Everywhere All At Once? Maybe, they can be something as simple as a boy and a boy who look the way you want them to look, fuck the way you want them to fuck and fall in love and fight, and scream, and cry, and make up a million different ways.

Let’s get more specific as the seal’s broken. Why not make Remus plus sized and give him a beard or a dad’s bod at age 23. Or maybe because he’s lighter haired he doesn’t have dark hair like that and only has a smattering of it across the ugliest of his scars. Consider this— moony with softer hips but fuller sturdy shoulders. Or long, slender limbs with a deceptively hidden strength owing to his wolf, stronger than James though he doesn’t look it. Onto Sirius, try to tell me I’m not going to put him in thigh highs and fem the shit out of him whilst he holds a bat in one hand covered in the blood of someone who tried to disrespect his Moons. Alert the press when someone erases every single one of his tattoos only to replace them with hyperpigmentation. What about giving him a beater’s build and a long thick trail of naval hair that he likes to call his ‘seeker’s delight’. What about a hairless Sirius who has a soft life and likes to make herself pretty for her 6ft 4 boyfriend every weekend when he gets on the train to visit.

How about, I stick with my personal holy take on the boys and present you with a harmless middle ground where Moony is whatever the fuck I want him to be physically, emotionally, or characteristically but always a wet fucking cloth for Sirius. A grape, under a thumb, you could say. And a Sirius, who is too whatever I want him to be physically, emotionally, or characteristically but will always be Moony’s biggest cheerleader.

Stay with me whilst I offer you the brain stretching, risky, taboo thought for you to ponder on: stop trying to please people. Stop absorbing all these takes that pressure you into thinking you’ve got to include every fucking thing that shaves you down and boxes you into their squeaky clean little creator! Indulge in what you like. Make it public, make it known and make it as loud as you want. Feels good on this side of freedom.

Lastly, quick (none of this has been quick) circle back to myself being a Wolfstar artist, not a Marauders one. I will not be shamed into drawing the women in this fandom, I will not try to even out my art with equal parts women and men, in fear of being called misogynistic. I came here for Wolfstar and I stay for them; I get 95% of my muse from them and enjoy drawing these idiots nearly every single day when I can. I’ve a busy life, a job, the luxury of a family that love me and a couple friends I’d like to keep too. If and when I draw, it’s going to be what I want to draw and want to indulge in, not to check off your boxes of inclusion. I am not going to defend my choice of indulgence to you. I am not going to refute women or wlw ships and in fact, eat up stories or art where they’re prominent. Will I have muse or will to do a piece on them? Probably not. If I do, I will and if it’s not done to a standard deemed appropriate enough by the council, well shit I hope I get an honourable mention in one of your hate threads on Twitter.

Grow up. I am the type of person who has a more or less rigid taste on these boys and what I, enjoy representing them like and you runts will run your throats hoarse before I turn an ear. I am not the type of person to see someone who doesn’t like what I prefer and start slamming my keyboard and slap them with a red card. I’ll move on but appreciate the take in silence. Some of you really, come across like you’re stomping your feet in a tantrum, some of you sound like you’ve never been told to shut the fuck up a day in your life and some of you, some of you, really think you’re a messiah.

Look I LOVE black!Rosiers, but saying they don't have a canon race just,, isn't true. Felix Rosier (in the HPHM) is canonically white. I say this as someone who always headcanons all Rosiers as black because fuck canon, that shit came from a legit wench, but we got to start admitting things here.

I'm not sure if there is a post I made that has inspired this specifically because I've made a few posts where I mention how I visualise Evan? I do hc Evan as black, however I think using Felix as an example of how all Rosier's should look is....complicated?

Like I said in my last post, we don't know Felix's canon relation to Evan. We also don't know what Evan looks like or his parents in canon. I haven't fully played the Hogwarts Mystery game (and when I did it was years ago when it first came out) so I don't know how canon it is anyway, but I think to use Felix as an example to say Evan is white in canon is the same as saying Felix is canonically his brother. We don't have that information. If they are distant cousins, or even first cousins, they can still look very different. If Evan's dad is white and is also the brother of Felix's dad, Evan's mum could still be black and therefore Evan could be black in canon. If you hc them as brothers then that's fine but you cannot use that as canon, I'm sorry.

My unpopular opinion is that if Peter weren’t fat and ugly then Sirius/Peter would be an extremely popular and mainstream ship, while Wolfstar would be a rarepair and Prongsfoot would stay as it is now - because i see prongsfoot as a ship for people who love to see Sirius in a healthy and balanced relationship. Wolfstar and Sirius/Peter are/would be for people who love the drama and the emotional turmoil.

dude. DUDE. i fully agree with this. i think a large part of how peter is treated/used/characterised stems from his physicality. it's almost like a woke parallel to jkr's beauty morality politics.

i literally cannot even tell u how often i've been annoyed by the way peter gets treated by the marauder fandom, specifically. because yeah, i get not everyone's gonna like a snivelling rat but--the corner of the fandom that operates purely on fanon and has changed everyone's character? yeah, zero excuses there.

not just the fact that peter often gets zero romantic/sexual attachments (and lets not even talk ab the 'ace/aro hcs bc hes fundamentally unloveable/so ugly no one wants him') even in spaces where's he's redeemed, but even if he's still a bad guy, so what? this is the fandom that's casually redeemed regulus black, barty crouch, all the other assortment of DEs. i dont get why peter's always the one who gets left behind. and then theres also the peter art oh my god. it just. there's nothing technically wrong with any of it, but the way peter--a canonically fat guy--is drawn (often very infantilised and non-sexually, even wehn everyone around him is thirst trapped up) vs say, lily--who's the hot new 'plus size' rep--who always gets to be slim-thicc, very fkn sexy, and just overall fun. it's just. it icks me out, ykno?

and then the relationships, of fucking course the ship would be more popular, dude. like, its classic enemies to lovers, classic passion and intensity that can fall on either side of the coin. u can play around a lot with it. and honestly, peter & sirius had way more interactions/moments/chemistry than remus/sirius, like that's my unpopular moment right there lmao

overall, yeah, i get what u mean and i second it. fat characters are not written the best bc its often just a facsimile of how irl fat people are treated and we all know how that goes.

some quick notes on my portrayal of lady d and shipping under the cut - ah, also ? please be mindful and respectful that me sharing my own hcs and portrayal do not necessarily mean that i claim that other hcs and portrayals of other muns are wrong. everybody is entitled to their own hcs and understandings of characters, there’s literally no right or wrong there.

as i have mentioned before  i do not accept nor ship maidens/lady d, she wouldn’t fuck nor fall in love with her own food - with that being said, shipping with her is complicated.  and i feel compelled to express my firm stance against endorsing or engaging in any romantic plots or shipping involving lady d and the maidens under her employ. i see such relations as deeply problematic due to not only the inherent power imbalance in their dynamics and the exploitative nature of their relationship. as much as a queer icon as she is to us all, it is crucial to remember that alcina is and will always be ( except perhaps in aus, of course ) a cruel vampire who feasts on human flesh and effectively keeps these girls as pretty much prisoners/slaves, considering them far beneath her and her daughters in the food chain, depriving them of their autonomy and personhood. with that in mind, romanticising such a relationship could not only perpetuate harmful tropes, but also normalize abuse ( which is a big no no as you can see in my rules ), and i don’t want any of that here. alcina's callous disregard for the well-being of the maidens is an essential aspect of her character, and any attempt to force her into a romantic relationship with them would pretty much undermine her consistency as a character and the gravity of her actions. furthermore, this sort of relationship portrayal may lead to a faux idea that abusive dynamics can be redeemed through love, a notion that can be harmful and manipulative. i am always eager to explore alternative storylines that empower the maidens though, allowing them to break free from their oppressive situations, form supportive bonds, and assert their agency. so yes, i am steering clear of romanticizing these harmful relationships, however in case anyone wants to explore other dynamics i’m 100% here for it. lady d probably would never fall in love or be attracted to a human, that is a regular human, as she finds weakness ( and she deems all humans weak ) disgusting. to get her attention they need to be powerful but not enough to pose as a threat to her or her daughters.

i write her a sapphic demisexual demiromantic as, to me personally, it makes sense considering what i saw of her and the other hcs i have for her - although most hc ( and i say hc because it wasn’t formally confirmed nor denied by capcom itself and despite one of the writers giving his opinion on it in a rather jkr w/ albus fashion, as it is re8 is a collaborative work and in the end the decision to make something canon or not is capcom’s ) her as a lesbian and i have no issue with that,  as a fellow queer i do find the entire man-hating-lesbian trope to be rather harmful. my main issue with this trope is that it follows patriarchal, hetero-normative ideas that often refuse to acknowledge the idea that a relationship between two women can exist on its own without having anything to do with men  ( as most hcs that i have seen are deeply linked to her misandrist personality and the mindset that just because she hates men she is automatically a lesbian ), the trope is flawed, simple minded and rather disrespectful to the sapphic community ( the trope suggests same-sex relationships are rooted solely in disdain for men, trivializing and undermining genuine emotions and love within them ). now, does that mean you cant hc her as lesbian? of course you can! her being lesbian or not is not the issue, hcing her as a lesbian should have nothing to do with this bad trope and we are all free to hc whatever we want that makes sense and relates to us individually, but let us all be mindful of the sexist tropes the fandomTM and the media loves to apply to female characters. as it is, since no official announcement has been made by capcom regarding the character so far, i will write her within the aro/ace spectrum for my own comfort, which i will  explain best in the next section

although she is within the aro/ace spectrum i don’t necessarily belive her to be sex repulsed per se,  though it is worth noting she is nowhere near inclined on having flings or one night stands at all -  ever since day one that she called the attention of the re fandom and from all sort of people, sadly as it usually goes with attractive female characters in media, she was painfully fetishised to no end. that makes me severly uncomfortable and has driven me off from writing her in the past. my portrayal will not focus on her sex appeal to the point of objectifying her, if at all. i want to go beyond that and bring out  depth and authenticity, exploring more than just her appearance. lady d is a lot more than just “tall vampire mommy makes me go brrrr”  she's complex and fascinating, that's why i think it'd be awesome to showcase her forming deep emotional bonds before experiencing sexual or romantic attraction ( if any ). this adds a whole new layer to her identity, and while i'm totally down for some fun shipping, it will be handled it with care. i’m all about respect and creating inclusive fan content that celebrates her character and explores different aspects of her life and relationships.  so while her natural despite for men in general still remains and her usual cruelty to those women who serve her is also present, she'll be free to explore relationships within her demi orientation in case plotting happens. of course some lighthearted flirting might appear every once in a while, but they will be nothing but crack. for actual shipping severe plotting is necessary.

Okay so this is my updated hc’s on the Marauders & Co. but there’s no war and no one dies because that just seems unrealistic like how would they ever let that happen

James Potter

• pansexual king

• half Indian on his mothers side and his fathers Scottish his mum moved over to the UK as a young woman then meet his dad here and the married then had him later in life but she makes sure to keep visiting family especially after James was born, going over for most of the summer holidays (they’d always invite Sirius who didn’t accept the invitation until the summer before 7th year as by this time they were living with James but in the other years they made sure to tell them when they’d go and return)

• mother hen to the extreme, always made sure his friends knew they could come to him if they needed comforting or help or just to talk etc

• really bad anxiety because he just doesn’t want to disappoint anyone so when things don’t go as he wanted he quietly freaks outs until he can calm down or someone else calms him down (for years it was just marauders but after getting close with Lily she started to help as well and then later on Regulus as well)

• didn’t actually fancy Lily until about 6th year before that he just thought she was cool and wanted to be friends with them

• but when he did realise he fancied her he f r e a k e d out because he didn’t want to ruin their friendship and briefly forgot how act around them

• everyone saw how much they liked each other but both were oblivious thinking the other just thought of them as a friend so they didn’t get together until just before 7th year at the end of the summer after much convincing from friends

• since there’s no war they decide not to get married so soon and wait a few more years marrying when they’re 24 instead

• Harry’s born about a few years after they get married and you know James is the best dad out there, he’s slightly overprotective just because he knows how he and the marauders were but he’s still a lot of fun

• they have twins after Harry because 1. James was an only child until Sirius (because Sirius is is his sibling and you can’t tell me otherwise, they thought each other siblings since 1st year) and 2. while Lily and Petunia don’t get on as they used to, she always thinks of the time when they did get on and wanted Harry to have that as well

• he’s the cool dad that all of Harry’s friends love so of course they’re house is almost always full of kids

• he’s a great cook because while he enjoyed cooking with his mum when he was younger he got her to teach him as many recipes as she could when he moved out so he could have little dinner parties with the marauders then to spoil Lily after they move in then so he can spoil the kids as well

• he likes Simon & Garfunkel and you can’t change my mind

okay so I am a Jegulily shipper so you can just skip this if you don’t like it or don’t ship them (i fell into a hole of Jegulily don’t at me)

• when James realised he fancied Regulus he again freaked out because he was married to Lily by this point and felt awful since he loved her so much but also liked Regulus

• he did eventually tell Lily after ignoring it for awhile hoping it would go away but it didn’t and he definitely cried when he did so because he thought Lily would hate him and leave him

• but she didn’t obviously but they did both cry about it for a while thinking it was would be the end of their relationship

• they decided to wait a while before telling Regulus to try and see if he did fancy them but neither could tell so it took awhile

• they did tell them though after deciding it’s be best to just do so and if he didn’t like them then they’d get over it together

• Regulus did like both of them though and again everyone cried and hugged a lot because of the relief

• they all dated for awhile before James and Lily decided to ask Regulus to move in with them because they just hated being so far away even though it wasn’t that far

• James always makes time to spend with just Regulus so he doesn’t start to feel left out, he takes them on dates or they go to the cinema together of just lay around curled up next to each on the couch

• he does the same with Lily but also knows when to leave them to be with each other and when to be with both of them

• after Harry and the twins born James makes sure that Regulus knows they’re just as much their parent as he is even if not biological

• anyways James lives a very long and happy life with his family and friends

honestly i feel like there are a few characters i could rant about rn i have been seeing some things lately that activate my haterism but!! let's see...

sirius is for sure my favorite character so. 2 respond 2 the ask. one of my fave hcs/the way i basically always write him is as a gay man. like. that never really changes for me + is kind of an essential part of the way i interpret his character. i don't really care if people hc otherwise but i just am not really interested in fics where he isn't gay!

something that does bother me tho is people who like....strip away or water down all his canon flaws. obviously people should write him however they want in their own stories, but it just bugs me when people take stuff like the prank or the general cuntiness that sirius exhibits in canon and either act like it makes him irredeemable OR act like it needs 2 be erased to make him likeable. i really view sirius as someone who sort of naturally tends towards meanness in certain ways and who finds it easier to be unkind than kind, and to me it's really important that he is specifically someone who struggles towards kindness + thoughtfulness + just an awareness of other people's feelings, bc it doesn't come naturally to him. and i don't really care if other people interpret his character differently, but i do care when i see people acting like the "sirius is kinda mean" interpretation is like.....morally corrupt or somehow inferior, because characters doing bad things means they're Bad. like whenever i see someone climbing onto a moral high horse just bc they've essentially erased a large portion of a character's canon characterization to make them more palatable it makes me want to bash my head into a wall <3
