I'm so curious about where the line is between profiting off fanfiction and adapting a fanfiction for tradpub. Don't get me wrong, fanfiction writers being able to make a career out of writing is great and I would love to one day, but I genuinely am interested in knowing more about the process of adapting it and how much gets changed before something like Manacled becomes Alchemised. If its just the names then surely that's profiting off fanfiction because they were not their own characters and it becomes a copyright issue, but if they have reworked it to change the characters and make them more different and their own then I can kinda see how it might be legal/acceptable.
