there was a fire in the building that houses my studio on new year's eve. i'll probably elaborate on that more at some point idk but tldr

it wasn't a big fire, nobody lost any stuff, nobody was hurt. the electrical mains gave up the ghost (likely due to an ongoing leak the landlord wouldn't fix)

but because the landlords have already wanted us out for ages so they can "redevelop" (read: tear down a slightly run-down building from around 1900) the place into Yet More Soulless Shiny Flats Nobody Around Here Can Afford they decided the damage is uneconomical to repair, refused our offer to contribute to repair costs, and are kicking us all out

because there was an "accident" causing "irreparable damage" they're exempt from the usual 3-month waiting period and everyone has to vacate by Feb 1

this is a community space occupied by artists and musicians so now there are a couple dozen broke-ass bitches who have to relocate short notice. the landlord, spectrum properties, is refusing to extend the time any further

so! there will shortly be some form of gofundme type situation to raise money for the costs of doing that (like storage units if we can't find another studio space), and also to tide over any artists who relied on that space for income since they've not had anywhere to work for a couple of weeks and probably won't for several more

Eughhh, what a fucking Monday.

Woke up and got ready for work only to walk outside and realize someone had stolen all the wheels off of my fucking car. I live in a gated complex on the edge of town, so I don't know if this happened because one of my neighbors is a huge asshole or if the north gate being broken and stuck open let someone in or what, but it's just so shitty. They propped it up on three (3) cinderblocks and bent the doorframe and undercarriage, too.

Anyway, I had to take the day off and talk to my job, the police, my insurance, the car shop it's being taken to, the tow guys (towing took like 2 hours because there was no direct access), my parents, a coworker that lives in the same area to give me a ride tomorrow, etc...only people I haven't talked to are the housing complex folks, and that's because she's gone for the three day weekend.

Time for a late lunch and spitefully scrolling through Amazon for security cameras...I need a cup of tea.

I enjoy shipping, but I cannot see the appeal in watching shows only for the purpose of shipping; I think it closes you off to so much. I think coming into a work with the expectation that it will only succeed if a particular configuration of people end up happily in a relationship with each other when the curtain closes means you will reject so many unexpected choices altogether. It destroys your ability to appreciate the entire concept of tragedy. Just, imagine refusing to let yourself enjoy "I'm not a gardener" because you are too furious that a different kiss than the one you wanted happened to feel other emotions.
