Nothing seems out of the ordinary. A few patrons sitting at the bar, a few poker games happening at various tables. The evening seems perfectly normal. Then something catches his eye. You. You’re at a back table, a fat stack of chips in front of you and a wide smirk on your face. Billy is all too intrigued. You look at him, biting your lip and batting your eyes. He notices your attention towards him and strides. forward.

“Howdy ma’am.” He tips his hat “Deal me in Sam.” He states, eyes focusing intently on your own.

You can’t help but gawk at him slightly. The faint dim of the lights shadow his handsome features, outlining his jaw, nose and lips. His ocean blue eyes practically melt you and you cross your legs to manage the throbbing heat.

“You look familiar” you speak up

“Is that a good thing or a bad thing” Billy asks

“I think it’s a good thing.” You smile deviantly

He smiles back, cocking his head and looking at his cards.

“So you’ve seen me around then?”

“In one way or another…”

As the round starts, you watch Billy closely, looking at his body language to speak to you. He looks at his cards again and shows no expression on his face. He places his bet and glances up at you. You look at your cards. A straight. You place your bet, matching Billy’s. You reveal your cards and then he shows you his. Three of a kind.

“Oh sorry baby…” you mock, taking his chips happily

The next round starts and this time Billy is able to win some of his chips back with a straight of his own. The game continues for a few more rounds until it comes down to you and Billy. You look at your cards. You’re one card away from a straight flush. The best hand you’ve had all night and you take your chances. You go all in. Billy looks at his card emotionless, matching your actions.

“What’s your game, cowboy?” You ask

“To win...” he quips back

You grin and show your cards. The small crowd around you lets out a few small gasps

“Well what ya got then?”

Billy keeps his eyes firmly on you as he reveals his own cards. The crowd gasps again. Royal flush. You gasp in awe, a look of disappointment spreading on your face. Your heart sinks and he slides your chips back towards him.

“Good game ma’am” he states, sticking out his hand.

You take it and he raises it to his lips, kissing your knuckles.

“Can I walk ya home?” He asks and you nod.

You follow him to his horse and he rides you back to your home. You rent a small apartment above the local post office and invite him upstairs. Once in your apartment, Billy takes off his hat, setting it on the table and taking a seat on your couch.

“Bonney, my name is William Bonney.”

You smile and introduce yourself.

“Pleasure to make your acquaintance” you grin, getting out a couple of glasses and pouring you each a glass of whiskey.

“What brings you to Lincoln?” You ask

“Looking for a fresh start.” He remarks

“Oh yeah” you state, taking a seat next to him.

He takes a sip of his whiskey, eyeing you. He can’t help but let them trail down your body, fixated on your cleavage for a moment before finding your eyes once again.

“So what’s a beautiful thing such as yourself doing playing cards?”

“Well what do you do for work?” He asks

Yes, Luffy, you're right. Anyone would be curious after 100 years. I just can't with Luffy sometimes. I still wonder if this serves as foreshadowing that Luffy will become immortal smh.

Hello, new adventure of Strawhats in a Lego land! God, how much I envy them! I also want to explore a lego land!

Okay, so what happened here. Did they shrink and now they're dolls in a lego house? Because this is not Elbaf. It's not like I thought it will be Elbaf anyway, I read a good theory that Elbaf won't happen yet, we're entering floating storyline arc. It might be wrong, because it predicted Strawhats somehow landing in G-14 base (which is supposed to be somewhat near to Egghead, that's where the kids from Punk Hazard are kept, as well as many Sword members are part of it).

But let's explore the possible explanations that were given to us in this chapter alone:

Robin's idea is a funny one. But Robin's ideas and visions are always wrong, that's like the repeated gag in One Piece lol. So I'm not placing a bet on that (also what sort of fish has a lego mansion inside it's stomach).

"There's a chance it'll make you hallucinate". Interesting. And it's called Green Fairy huh. We see Sanji, Zoro, Nami and Usopp getting seriously drunk with it. Coincidentally, those are the Strawhats that are currently missing in action (+Luffy and possibly Chopper as well?). Actually, the whole Sunny is missing. What could make a whole ship just disappear? I mean, it was even tied up to the Giants ship, wasn't it?

Yep, seems it was. Probably using Sunny's anchor. Which means, if a fish actually swallowed them up, it would be dangling on that anchor. But anyway I didn't buy Robin's comment anyway, no one should lol.

So someone had to undo that anchor for the ship to leave... and here's my most logical conclusion to that: it was Luffy. Luffy doesn't like to drink. For some reason he abducted them somewhere? I mean it's not exactly something impossible for Luffy to do. The crew also somehow pins it down on Luffy, just look at this:

Or, it was someone else capable of stealing a whole ship. There's one problem with this idea though. We were just watching reactions from folks all around the world about Vegapunk's broadcast. We basically know where everyone is and what they're doing (which excludes possibility that it was for example a prank from Shanks), besides literally a few exceptions, like most of Luffy's grand fleet. I can't help but notice Law is still missing in action too.

Right before the environment is revealed to us, Nami comments this must be all alcohol's fault. And that's indeed my guess on what's happening: Nami is experiencing a hallucination from drinking too much of Green Fairy. Which means she isn't a reliable narrator right now and what we're seeing isn't 100% accurate. I still envy her though. I also want to be in a Legoland <3

There's also the chapter's title: 落とし前 (otoshimae) which means: payback, return of favour, taking responsibility, but the most known association is with the yakuza's custom of cutting off a finger as apology for making a blunder. We saw one of such examples happen in this chapter: Bartolomeo had to suck it up because he messed with Shanks and Shanks couldn't let it slide.

I admit I thought it's gonna be a red herring plotline, but Oda actually delivered on that promise! I'm glad I was wrong, ha! This was delicious. Bartolomeo drinking a fake poison to show his loyalty to Strawhats was absolutely fantastic. And Shanks testing him in such a way is so disgusting but also awesome. He cares so much to make sure people around Luffy are actually good people... Shanks and Bartolomeo's encounter is basically two biggest fanboys of Luffy meeting up and it's gotta make this my most favourite chapter for a while now <3

Next, we could probably see "taking responsibility" also in what happened at the very end of the chapter. Strawhats got literally drunk, yeah, so they're literally taking responsibility now for it. But it could also suggest someone kidnapped them to either 1. give them payback 2. repay a favour (despite the ominous line at the end of the chapter, I think it might be the latter actually. But we will see). Wouldn't be the first time Oda uses subtle hints like that to let us know what's actually going on.

There's probably a few more tie-ins to the title in this chapter. Dory and Broggy still gonna continue their duel (it's also taking responsibility, right? Once said words can't be taken back), Bonney and Kuma (she took him with her so she's now taking care of him instead of feasting with others), Blackbeard and Kuzan (Kuzan kinda took responsibility over what happened and made up for the losses when he took Garp hostage). I'm not sure how accurate it is though, because I though otoshimae is related to "making up for some wrongdoing or a mistake", not just taking responsibility for your own actions (or collectively for the whole group). But it might be both, I guess?

But then we can't ignore a tiny callback to that line Zoro says in Water 7 here: "we need to take responsibility for accepting Robin into the crew and that's why now we have to decide: is she a crewmate or an enemy?" The word he uses back then is also "otoshimae".

I'm so into this story's development right now, I literally can't wait for the next chapter! I liked the lore in Egghead, but futuristic islands are just not my type of thing in general. Whatever is happening now, I'm so into it already haha.

Spoilers for Chapter 1100

If you have experienced emotional damage in the form of screaming, crying or throwing up from the newest chapter of One Piece, you may be entitled to financial compensation.

This chapter shows how Kuma traded his free will for Bonney's cure. By giving up his mind, body and soul to the world government, Kuma is once again forced into a form of slavery. It's the ultimate sacrifice, and understandable why Kuma never wanted Bonney to learn what he did for her.

The six month period of curing Bonney is heartbreaking. I can't believe everyone, Kizaru included, lived together acting like everything was fine for Bonney's sake. She must have had no idea anything was wrong until Kuma stopped contacting her. Which, according to the timeline, is very recent. Her cure, eventual escape and becoming a pirate could have happened just a few months before Sabaody.

This chapter also continues laying the foundation for Kizaru potentially leaving the marines. Just like Aokiji, Kizaru is bearing witness to an extreme tragedy committed by the world government. Plus his connection to Sentomaru, this six month period, and doing the Nika dance (!!) all give him an emotional connection to Bonney. Since Bonney later escapes her captivity, I'm willing to bet that Kizaru turned a blind eye like Aokiji did for Robin. I'm looking forward to seeing how this parallel plays out.

And that last panel??? Kuma's going to Foosha village! Probably to hunt down the gum gum fruit! (Oda's retcon to explain why the government didn't hunt down the stolen fruit earlier lol). Kuma probably lied to the government about its whereabouts, meaning the start of Luffy's journey could only happen because of Kuma! Why would Kuma lie? Maybe that happy-go-lucky gluttonous devil-fruit kid reminded him of Bonney. Oh my god.

chapter 1081 spoilers—okay, angst is fun and all but...

Shachi literally means orca in Japanese. Ikkaku means narwhal. They can dive deep (Narwhals, deeper than most submarines go, I think) and survive. Penguins are pretty good underwater for a while (though I don't know about depth). The ocean is the home of sea urchins and sea angels (Uni and Clione). And have we forgotten how hardcore Penguin and Shachi went here?:

Now, I don't know about snow geese, but we'll give Hakugan some magical properties. So while it is heartbreaking that the Polar Tang

where he urges Law to have faith in the hardiness of his North Blue crew in the depths of the ocean. His concern is more with Law (but we know he'll be okay):

Bepo urges Law not to die, but the Hearts will continue to overcome. I don't know that they'll be captured either, but they must've almost escaped because Jean Bart was on land, right? In chapter 1064:

But look at this instruction (also from 1064):

where Law urges Penguin and Shachi into the water. The Hearts are fine, but I understand the angst (it's glorious, isn't it?!). I think Law's worried, obviously, but I also think he picked his crew and mode of transport for a reason beyond just remaining hidden.

Although, the Wiki says they don't know what happened to it after Bonney was captured by Blackbeard way back when, but in Egghead Jinbei does ask her:

where her ship and crew is. She states that her ship (which might be the Jewelry Margherita) was eaten by the monsters (controlled by Lilith, right?) outside of Egghead, and that she came alone.

The wiki says: (according to Vivre Card - One Piece Visual Dictionary (Card #0511), Information about Bonney is revealed), that:

Bonney seems to prioritize her own safety over her crew's as she managed to escape Marine detainment but chose not to rescue her subordinates.

That's stark contrast to Law, and we've mostly seen her operate alone, but I'm not gonna believe the Vivre cards just yet.

Also, Kid's obviously alive if Law is and if their losses were similar in wording and visuals. I think Kid's crew have saved him, if not Shanks' crew.

BUT, once Law recovers, he'll not be sequestered in a cell for ten years before he becomes relevant again (poor Kid. Damn!).

As @purplehairedwonder pointed out, the Polar Tang was carrying Law's poneglyph copies, and I bet that the crew is carrying them. Hope so. He'd be wise enough to have them waterproofed. BUT it makes more narrative sense to have them destroyed.

Now, someone was talking about how a Klabautermann is only seen when a ship is doomed (this wikipedia article supports it, but that's as far as my sources go) and therefore they didn't include images/stories/prompts about it for the Polar Tang. I can't remember who it was! Ahh, well it seems that the Klabautermann of various ships have been very busy lately.

Kuzan, too. Kuzan is cool (haha). I'm glad we saw him. And the dialogue with the Blackbeard pirates and Kuzan. OH, I almost forgot, this angst:

where Blackbeard taunts Law with the fact (yes, fact!) that there are a hundred pirates on Pirate Island still without their hearts, due to Law, and BB would be thrilled to punish Law for the fact, can't help but stir the whump-writer's heart (I'm sorry, Law).

AND, Koby and Law were in cahoots in some way, I'm sure of it (probably be disproven). Something similar to Luffy and Smoker at Alabasta, perhaps? Anyway.

Side note, do you think that Chopper used Caesar Clown's science and ego to help produce the rumble-ball like power-up he gave Bepo? If so, I wonder if this will come to play in the future when Caesar and Judge enter the fray again, if they do.

It is interesting though 'cause, since we have no fucking True Clue what the hell Crocodile's actual real End Goal with Cross Guild is right now (does he want to get One Piece and fight the Strawhats+Shanks, does he want to get Pluton from Wano (and/)or does he want to destroy the World Government?? We don't know), that we just have a fuck ton of theories on what could happen, but no way to really tell what the actual direction this entire plot thread is going to be

And one I've seen a lot of people suggest was Cross Guild recruiting more of the former (/OG) Shichibukai into their ranks

And I just find that idea so fucking interesting

Because this is where one needs to remember that Oda based the OG Shichibukai on the Seven Heroes from Romancing SaGa 2. The Seven Heroes were a legendary group who once in the past saved the world from a great evil (before disappearing and turning into an evil for the game's protags to defeat). Just reading the descriptions you can see how each of the OG Shichibukai match up to one of the heroes respectively. And the inspo would be fine and dandy by itself, like just some fun trivia about what inspired Oda. But the Seven Heroes were specifically created and lead by Wagnas, with Noel as his right-hand. Wagnas happens to be the character Crocodile matches up with, and Mihawk just happens to match up with Noel. And here we have Crocodile starting a new organization with Mihawk by his side, with unknown true goals. And we do have that one World Government that needs to get overthrown so the world can be "saved". So like.

Suddenly, the idea that Cross Guild could recruit some of the other former Shichibukai (to maybe help take down the World Government?) doesn't sound too out-landish at all

Especially because Moria alone is already like an actual contender for someone who could maybe join Cross Guild. Like, assuming he's alive and made it out of Fullalead with Perona. 'Cause with Absalom dead and Hogback gone with the wind, Moria should have like nothing else left but himself and Perona. And while knowing Moria he's going to be Very Happy about reuniting with Perona, like... where's he gonna go? What's he gonna do if the two escaped Fullalead? But because Perona and Mihawk already know each other, Perona could very easily become a bridge to getting Moria with CG, especially if he's still wounded etc from the escape, Perona would want her boss' to survive and she'd trust Mihawk to help probably. And god knows, if Blackbeard tried or even succeeded at stealing Moria's Fruit, the man could have some legit good intel on Blackbeard (and how he steals powers) that he could then share with CG, something Crocodile could appreciate. Also, if Crocodile and Mihawk want to ensure the Marines are too scared to come after them, getting Moria in their ranks would help with that.

Then there's Kuma. And. Well. Assuming Kuma doesn't kick the bucket in the next few chapters. If Kuma is still somehow alive and his soul/memories can be put into a body (some people have been suggesting his memories could be implanted maybe into a Pacifista or that giant robot on Egghead or maybe even his Seraphim, or maybe just memories could be returned back into his original body), and if he'll still have the ability to near-instantly travel across the planet then I'm putting my money on him returning to the Revolutionaries to be honest. But if he loses that ability, I don't think he's going to be sticking with the Strawhats to be honest. That said, he'll still need somewhere to go (with Bonney?), and with the rest of the Revs on the other side of the Grand Line... Cross Guild could, potentially, be the nearest, safest place for him, if for no other reason than the other former Shichibukai might be his safest bet right now. Especially if Crocodile ever did have any involvement with the Revolutionaries. But indeed, this assumes Kuma isn't Turbo Perma-Dead Forever, which remains to be seen.

I know a lot of people love Doflamingo and would love to see him back. Personally I want him to stay in jail, where he deserves to be. <3 Also I don't think Crocodile would ever want Doflamingo working for him, let alone go out of his way to travel to Paradise to let him out (though if they did, they could also release Weevil while at it, since he's also stuck in Impel Down) (But honestly, unless someone else goes to break Weevil out and Doflamingo just escapes while he's at it, don't think he's getting out)

Quick honorable mention to Law, since he is also a Former Shichibukai. His crew got nuked by Blackbeard but I doubt he'd join Crocodile and Mihawk for any reason, especially if he's still in the race for One Piece (assuming Cross Guild isn't) (Like Buggy is but Buggy might skedaddle for all we know)

But with the Shichibukai, this just leaves us with Hancock.

Thing is, last we saw her she was still in Paradise, wanting to reunite with Luffy. It is entirely plausible she could (or may already have) set out for the New World if she feels like she has to leave Amazon Lily to protect her home-- which she might have to, considdering without her warlord status the Government has gone after her. But indeed, if Hancock is on the run and heading to the New World, surely she'd want to find Luffy. So why would she ever join Cross Guild? She doesn't like men (aside from Luffy), so surely she wouldn't trust that disaster crew with a clown for a mascot. But again. This is where "what the fuck is Crocodile's end goal" comes in again. Because if he wants to destroy the World Government and wreck the Nobles' out of orbit... Well. I don't think convincing Hancock to go back to the place where she was kept in slavery for years would be easy. But also. Perhaps, just perhaps, she could be persuaded into committing some delicious revenge under the right circumstances (whatever that might be).

IDK man, there's potential here, things could get so interesting with Cross Guild and whatever the fuck Crocodile is planning (vs how Buggy's mutiny rolls out)

It is kind of funny though, how like the best case scenario for Cross Guild Shichibukai Reunion would be like. Kuma and his daughter. Moria, Mihawk and their collective daughter. Crocodad and his sharp boyfriend. And Luffy's wannabe fiancée. (The clown is optional)

Yeah, that is pretty much of a given. Orihime wants to protect her friends, but something happens to her powers and she feels horrible about it, she has real flaws that any girl would have.

Espadas, Just the Espadas. More specifically, Ulquiorra Cifer and his Ressureccion looks like a genuine devil in Bleach.

4. If you count Isshin and Ichigo, then yeah, we have that. They are a perfect duo. Legit hilarious and Isshin actually loves his son and will protect him.

6. Yeah it does have that with pretty much every character in this show, even the jokey characters like Asano Keigo. There are hundreds of videos just talking about these characters.

7. Ichigo gets his ass kicked like every arc, at least. Not to mention, the internal battle that he has with his inner demon, both literally and narratively. This guy has more layers than an onion.

8. Pick one. You want angsty antagonist? Coyote Starrk. Angsty protag? Ichigo. Angsty female character? Rukia Kuchiki. Angsty side character? Uryu Ishida. It is filled with angsty characters.

9. Rukia, Yachiru, Yuzu, Karin, Nel, Toshiro, Momo, pretty much, anyone that won't kill you, but knowing you, you will adopt all of them.

10. Renji FUCKING Abarai, this boy is the most hilarious boy on the planet and I love him for that.

if you want my opinion on a 10th strawhat I'd say yamato is an incredibly nice bet and i can't relate to people shifting over to bonney because the main characters of one piece have deliberate overlap with what they talk about.

for example: sanji, zoro, franky, and nami ALL talk about gender as a performance explictly, and the discussion of gender there bleeds into the other subjects

isolation is also another huge subject bleed topic amongst the strawhats. its fundamentally what you need to create a consistent worldview in the way that one piece has, is subject bleed. i dont think bonney has that quality about her. i think she has it with like one or two topics but yamato hits every fucking note he possibly can to me it's not a competition in this regard. but honestly i don't think odas gonna willingly give us another strawhat anytime soon, if he's smart he'll pull what he did with jimbe and have them appear more towards the end so the preexisting group dynamic isn't set offcourse.

one, rpc: i was talking about this on my other blog as well but since it's a different crowd ... i'm genuinely appalled by the fact that people use ai to write replies. roleplay is a creativity orientated hobby, yet every day there's rumors about people getting art / writing from ai sites that essentially steal from other creators. i understand sometimes writers can have blocks, but if you have to constantly rely on these tools to keep your blog running then maybe this is not the hobby for you.

two, characters: i've noticed a sudden switch up in certain parts of fandom about the latest chapters and bonney's storyarc, so on that note i think most fanboys will throw a tantrum if it turns out that a character outside of luffy will show godlike powers or even an imitation of it which is kinda sad ( at least to me ) because i feel like that given the themes of one peace spending days arguing about who is supposed to be the "new nika" just seems dumb. following this, i can't wait to find out if there will be more lore about any gods in universe - i have a feeling that 3et's lore might be really interesting ( no bias of course )

three, live action: bet nobody would have expected this one lol. i think the show nailed op core vibe because most of the people involved have been die hard fans or have done their research right, but i don't necessarily think the execution was good. this will probably ve controversial af, i was happy about emily being cast as nami because i know it was one of her favourite manganime characters but i find it hard to believe she was chosen for her acting in the "luffy help me" scene - that was literally her weakest acting moments throughout the whole season and it pissed me off so bad since they created so much hype around it back then.

Marines &the world government uneasy relations

I'm in the moment a bit experiencing writers blockade. So stick with me , thanks.

Today I quickly pick on some things I noticed with the chapter 1095 and the official one piece fandom site.. and misconceptions and miss interpretations of the Marines at times.

I was disappointed by the official one piece fandom site as they updated  vice admiral Dobermans profile following the egghead Island arc. Look at screenshot.

Its a gross misconception to think that Doberman does not mind Saint Saturn's statement "humans are insects"...which includes also the Marines that are fighting for the World government in the siege. In fact if you look at the reaction panel Doberman is drawn with  clear signs of distress ie. droplets of sweat, a prominent shadow beneath the Bill of his cap and closed eyes, both of them.

I say it again Doberman doesn't appear to agree with Saint Saturn's statement, however he is through and through a lawful pragmatic marine, rational, stoic, he cannot say anything because his rank is to low.. he is forced into silence.

Don't believe me let's recap Sakazuki snarling at the Gorosei for putting up misinformation in the newspaper about Doflamingo.  The Gorosei did not punish Sakazuki  but WEREN'T pleased with Sakazuki and he is the fleet admiral at this point.  (The whole one piece fandom admired Sakazukis balls of steel that moment)

Doberman is a vice admiral if he speaks up against any plan or strategy that Saint Saturn suggests it could very well mean Dobermans death to do so and he understands that. Hence his hands are tied in this situation. That doesn't mean he is agreeing,but distressed ... Doberman is to rational as to risk his life for a personal belief.

Which brings me to this panel in chapter 1095, After Saint Saturn is stabbed by Bonney the vice admirals are about to jump into action to defend him but Saturn yells at them to quit it and calls the Marines  " quiet insects". And I bet that raises eyebrows with most Marines that are present at the siege. My opinion is this will cause further unrest amongst the Marines when it comes to the Gorosei. The five elder stars don't care not even for the soldiers that fight for them, if even Sakazuki is reprimanded firmly,

Its a great tragedy to see Marines being shuffled into various factions ie. Moral vs absolute justice, within their own institution not to mention being manhandled by the Gorosei in such a way, when it is obvious that not following orders get you executed, like in this siege.

BONUS LEVEL:  ADMIRAL KIZARU 

ok before I say anything else ... Oda did you draw Kizaru like this on purpose?? Wtf... that admiral  is man spreading.. fan service ahoi 

Ok naughty observation out of the way... For real though out of all Marines,  Kizaru is the only one Saint Saturn talks normal to, no direct insults no condescending language..if anything Saint Saturn sounds like a dissapointed parent.

I know that Kizaru is a sufficient and fast soldier obedient , no questions asked... but still... is that enough to Foster some respect from Saint Saturn...

My personal opinion there's more at play here. And my PERSONAL theory ok...my personal thoughts is that Kizaru is the illegitimate child of a rare or extinct family of Celestial dragons or of one of the Gorosei... there i said it... don't hate me but it would make sense to me.

Crown Jewel

We're skipping the discourse around this one. Ginny is Bonney's mother, Kuma's her daddy, and there's the potential of a half-Tenryubito bloodline which would explain a fair amount of leeway we've seen. Bonney is also only 12 years old. Love how it all fits well with her intro, do hate how grim Ginny's story ended up. But she kept that spark until the end, like the wrinkle of not wanting to be seen and trying to hide the pain. Out of respect for that we're not dwelling on the horrific circumstances of Bonney's conception.

I gotta say though, I was already wondering before that if film buff Oda wasn't striking again because Kuma's story of a humble guy weaving around big events was reminding me big time of Forrest Gump. If Wano was the Kabuki revue you'd pick and choose parts you care about...is Egghead a night at the movies? Sci-fi B movie vibes obviously. Then maybe these segments away are almost like, say going to the bathroom and catching a snippet of another. Hence missing parts of it. I'm rambling...

Absolutely adore the origin of the "jewelry" part of Jewelry Bonney. Both this cute scene and how the Sapphire Scale disease hearkens back to Thriller Bark. The core stakes of losing your shadow. Same with the origin of "If you could travel, where would you go?" In hindsight...I bet Perona reminded him of Bonney. It's also pertinent to point out they were at Sabaody around the same time. There's a lot to say about her after this chapter, starting with...

Bonney, welcome to the top tier of the blorbo rankings. How can I hate a chapter that gives me a feisty five-year-old flagrantly flipping the forbidden finger? Young Bonney you are so precious. Er...younger Bonney. So we don't just have the Sapphire Scales connection either. This chapter hits that running Egghead theme of callbacks so hard. I love this bit about calling her a vampire and brandishing a cross, especially with her flatly pointing out she lives in a church, but a lot of things honestly. Talking about wanting to see a Sky Island was nice.

We're gonna peel this one off for tomorrow, but there is one thing I do wanna note. Actually being 12 with a fruit like that is a different angle, but it has that fundamental thematic harmony with a quartermaster. Just like an elegant but lowkey scary big sister with an actress vibe, a bossy little sister with the infinite possibility of distorted futures suits bringing order and wearing many hats. Kiku's deal was being shown as legitimately good but not great at others'skills. The ultimate redundancy. Bonney is the blank slate. Strap in friendos, I have a lot to say on the matter over the next few days.

This is what I was thinking last week, the part that really gets there. The ability to just pop up at island after island is hellacious for a Revolutionary. Makes it easy to pull something like Sabo's simultaneous uprisings which is smart. Paralyzes a World Government that can step in it prioritizing the wrong ones. But yeah, Kuma goes on a tear after Ginny is taken. We get a great run of back-and-forth shots though between the hero and the doting father. Love that. He goes into a pit of despair, but the last remnant of Ginny becomes a reason to live again.

My guess is ultimately we'll see something like he agreed to the cyborg program at least partially because he could take on Bonney's disease himself. That would make sense for something. Kinda dig the theory Im suffers from Sapphire Scale. I know they said Bonney had a limited time but that may be because she'd already started to turn. Im if anyone has the resources to ensure you'd never encounter natural light and it'd be incredibly thematic. I will also laugh my ass off if we end up making the World Government functionally run by the Sohma Family from Fruits Basket. Sickly lil shut-in who was handed control for stupid reasons.

Hearken well, dear reader and don't look away. For what comes next is the tragedy of Sorbet. From priest to tyrant, from man to machine. A tragic tale who's end has already been seen.

Talk about callbacks, yeah this familiar nightmare reminds me a lot of Drum and Dressrosa. It is cool how Wano fits into that, a more benign version of reinstalling the ancient dynasty. This here is the perfect setting to shift us into the parts we already know a bit about. It'll be interesting to see what happens. Somewhere this kind pastor and loving father became known as a tyrant and he was referred to as King of Sorbet. We've only got a short window to cram in a lot of big things for Kuma. That said, could see us out of this by or in 1100. So a break and a big one-two punch?

I bet my ass he's genuinely so fk happy here, it's tears of joy, he's so relieved that they're still gonna cure bonney, that they're not gonna make her slave like he was and like her ma was. I fk hate how something so trivial which should be their right is paid with sweat and blood and live, and he's HAPPY for it!

Spoilers for Chapter 1102

Well that was sad. This chapter goes over a lot of One Piece's existing story but from Kuma's perspective, what he (and others) were doing behind the scenes while the straw hats were having their adventures. And it's confirmed that Bonney saw all of this through Kuma's memories!

I am a huuuge fan of the parallel drawn between Bonney/Kuma and Luffy/Dragon. Bonney and Luffy are strong and childish upcoming pirates, bringers of a new era, secretly watched over by their famous fathers, and are Kuma's legacy... my heart...

There's also a parallel between Kuma and Hancock since they're both former slaves working as warlords who were moved by Luffy attacking a CD (especially to protect a fishman). Makes me wonder if sending Luffy to Amazon Lily was about more than just learning Haki.

And if we want to get really crazy, Vegapunk's "your life hasn't caused anyone harm or trouble, but your death will pain everyone who loves you!!" quote reminds me of Ace, who didn't realize his worth until the end :'(

Also, foreshadowing! I bet Vegapunk secretly installed this circuit and that Kuma is still alive in there somewhere. He's getting a happy ending with Bonney (after a lot of turmoil), I'm calling it right here. Break next week.

The Secret Mastermind of the Blackbeard Pirates

I always found it weird how Oda gave the name of arguably one of the most well-known and successful pirates to such a minor character, and always seemed to set him apart from the rest in the ways you mentioned. Also, if I had to guess a previous name for Lafitte, I would literally just go for Jean-Pierre, as that's a name in and of itself in French, and it references both the real life Lafittes by combining them together, much the same way the character of One Piece's Lafitte is a combination of the two.Show less

Jango who was also hypnosis, what did he do? He faked kuro's death by hypnotizing morgan! This definitely strengthens your idea.

The fact that he is able to go unnoticed by Hawk-Eye, the dude that is the reason Shanks probably learnt how to block Observation Haki, should terrify everyone honestly

The connections to the real life Lafitte are sick. The two death dates makes it seem like the character’ll be defeated at the fake age of 41/42, when he’s actually 94/95. Also, it’s entirely possible that someone with the Toshi Toshi no Mi used it on Lafitte at God Valley to make him ~3(?) years old, and then he had to grow up again in the West Blue (where God Valley was). Then that Devil Fruit user died before Bonney got the Toshi Toshi no Mi.

This theory actually crosses over with another theory I have jotted down somewhere. Have a look into "Baron Samedi" also known as "Baron La Croix". Laffitte's character design works really well with the Baron. Baron Samedi is also one of the Iwa of Haitian Vodou like "Joyboy".

I especially liked how you included Treble in the theory since I agree 100%. Oda often creates and older parent-like figure who influenced the villain to go down their dark path in the first place (Treble, Streusen, Higurashi and who knows, maybe even Gorosei).

Also, this works for me but I would take it farther than lafite. After seeing his arms, I think he's the model screech owl, screech owls were Hades sacred bird. And Cerberus his guardian. So I think lafite has been grooming black beard so that he can open the gate to Hades, or needs him to resurrect someone.

This would make a future Sanji fight a lot cooler. I've always felt like his opponent in the matchup was never very clear or satisfying, like him fighting Avalo or Burgess felt empty, but him fighting a major, big big deal former Rocks pirate with a bounty in the billions is hype.
