AU where Shen Jiu Qingqiu is forced to confront just how messed up his body and cultivation are

He realizes he's one bad qi deviation away from being a goner, and that qi deviation is basically inevitable in time

So he goes and snatches a suitable body with good spiritual veins. He wanted to put his demonic cultivation behind him, but this is an emergency, and in a matter of life and death, he ALWAYS will find a way to endure.

Except when he performs the ritual to transfer his own consciousness into the acceptable body candidate, something gets messed up, and he transfers someone else into the body instead. Another Shen, so the new inhabitant of the body says, who was dying of food poisoning until Shen Jiu performed the ritual.

This ridiculous Shen Yuan is saying that Shen Jiu saved his life, even though Shen Jiu TOLD him that he was a mistake! He is offering knowledge of the future as thanks, which is only more suspicious!!

But this horrible, spoiled little man does definitely hold a secret close to his chest of some kind, and Shen Qingqiu is determined to figure out what it is before being rid of Shen Yuan.

So Shen Jiu repeats the process of finding a suitable body for himself, repeats the transferal ritual, and--

ANOTHER FUCKING SHEN YUAN SHOWS UP IN THIS BODY TOO!!

And then the expected fatal qi deviation... it finally happens. But when it does, the Shen Yuans catch him early on and don't let him die. Shen Jiu isn't sure exactly what they do to him, but his mouth tastes like blood. They definitely transfered energy, alerted Mu Qingfang and Yue Qingyuan, and some unidentified third thing. The Little Beast is clinging to one of the Shen Yuans like a barnacle now, but that's hardly Shen Qingqiu's biggest concern at the moment.

He's alive. His qi is flowing. It hurts like a bitch, even now, but his spiritual pathways seem to be opening up again somehow???

Shen Yuan who maintains the reputation of the Scum Villain and says, oh well, going to a brothel can't be the worst thing in the world, and meets a group of laughing friends who care about him, how does he feel after the qi deviation, if it is true that he lost his memory...

They accompany him with music, play cards, drink rice wine and do skincare. They gossip to him, massage his tense shoulders, rant about the other peak lords and noble idiots, they tell midnight secrets in drunken voices, and he relaxes. He sleeps among a bunch of slightly drunk prostitutes in a comfortable bed full of pillows and silks, all happy, like a strange group of friends who have reunited after a long time.

After that night, the now Shen Qingqiu is completely relaxed and in a pleasant mood, and continues to visit every so often. Not too often; once a month, on very stressful days, twice a month. People judge him and Shen Qingqiu remains dignified, because, he is really not doing anything wrong! Fuck you all!

The System gives him points in character. Good for that!

weird fic idea: A weird ass cult devoted to the Creator somehow decide that Shen Qingqiu is that Creator and, thus, kidnaps him. They feed him some truth serum and wait, hoping that he spills divine secrets and cosmic wisdom.

Shen Qingqiu, completely confused: "I have no idea why you think I’m some kind of god."

Cultists, gasping: "My Creator, you're so humble!"

Shen Qingqiu: "No, seriously. This is a mistake. Let me go."

Cultists, knowing he's under truth serum: "...?"

The peak lords break in to rescue him just in time for them to hear him accidentally insinuate that, while he was involved in helping form the world, he's not the Creator, Shang Qinghua is.

I just think it’d be hilarious if Shen Yuan and Shang Qinghua were internet friends AND internet enemies. And of course, since neither wants their normal internet bestie to know about their unhinged behavior, i.e. Shang Qinghua writing a terrible porno for cash and Shen Yuan reading the thing in its entirety just to leave hate mail, they are completely unaware of the duality of their relationship. The amount of identity porn shenanigans of them both having a regular account where they have an absolutely normal friendship, and a side account for their deranged fandom content where they hate each other would be peak comedy.

SQQ holding his newborn baby to his chest, thinking about getting rid of him. He was only a burden and he didn't need that weight on his shoulders. It would have been better also for the baby... maybe someone would have found him in the woods, someone would have taken care of him, and it would have been a better parent than him. He didn't have the time to take care of that creature.

SQQ left his baby hiding him in the bushes so it wouldn't be dangerous for him. He worried that his cries could get the attention of wild beasts and monsters. But he took his decision and couldn't take back his word. He couldn't take care of a baby, what kind of life could he guarantee to a helpless child?

His heart was pending loudly in his chest, SQQ felt a pain new to him, like if parting from that child was so hard for him. He was a newborn, he wasn't interested in him at all. Yes, that's what he tried to tell himself.

So SQQ abandoned the baby, crying and screaming. His heart was broken but, he never knew he had some kind of... motherly instincts? He didn't know, but that baby's cries were ripping him from the inside. But it was the best choice.

SQQ tried to forget that baby, he didn't wanted to remember the pain of abandoning him. Maybe he was passed and never survived the day he left him. It was sad, but he couldn't change things. His son was gone long time ago.

Or that's what SQQ thought.

The baby was dead.

The same baby he met again one day, on the demons side, looking at him like he was just a filthy, unworthy human. A nobody not even worthy of his attention.

He was his father. And that wonderful, beautiful boy was his A-Yuan. The baby he left without any regret after giving him his name.

The same baby that maybe... only maybe... he missed a little bit too much.

You know what would've been nice? Shen Jiu ending up on a different peak that's actually good for him. Maybe Qian Cao, or the beast taming peak could've been hella therapeutic. Or the alcohol/brewery peak to drown away all his sorrows. But what if he stayed fucked up, in a way that's actually good and productive for society? Yeah, I wanna toss him over to Yin Hui and let him run wild! I've seen many iterations of Yin Hui, the fanon peak for espionage and poisons in fanfics. By extension, Yin Hui is also covertly the assassination peak, and I wish this peak got more attention around here tbh. Why do I think this peak is the most well suited for Shen Jiu? BECAUSE ASSASSINS. Duh.

So here comes a baby demonic cultivator Shen Jiu and the Yin Hui peak lord immediately wants him. Shen Jiu would be more readily accepted by his peak martial siblings, and no one would bat an eye at Shen Jiu, his standoffish personality or shady past. A lot of Yin Hui disciples are from questionable backgrounds since the Yin Hui peak lord naturally has to be very particular about selecting their disciples. Yin Hui was established to protect the sect and its people by any means necessary. Sure, the rest of the sect may fight against the supernatural, demons, and the undead, but Yin Hui fights an even greater monster: people.

The Yin Hui peak lord manipulated things so that the first impression the rest of the sect has about Shen Jiu is 'that new badass Yin Hui disciple that killed the criminal Wu Yanzi and saved the future sect leader!' (Seeing as Wu Yanzi would be the very sort of ppl they assassinate, he's already getting goated on Yin Hui too.) So Shen Jiu is known as that new prodigious disciple from Yin Hui and is getting some goddamn respect! And just because of his association with his peak, fewer people are inclined to question his background and whatnot since there's an understanding that the identity of the YH disciples needs to be heavily guarded. The Yin Hui peak lord finds out about the Qiu's soon enough, and they erase any and all traces leading back to Shen Jiu. Even framing it in a way that makes it look like WY did the massacre. Any credibility Qiu Haitang could've had for Shen Jiu's murder accusations is thrown out the window. (Ain’t no way in hell the Yin Hui peak lord is going to name SJ that stupid trauma inducing name like a certain Qing Jing peak lord, that's for sure.)

I'm pulling in elements from MDZS over here. In my version of Yin Hui, they have disciples who practice demonic cultivation, but they make sure it's in a safer way that won't hurt them. There's a surprising number of disciples who have damaged cultivation and chose to cultivate the ghost path. The previous generations of Yin Hui peak lords have created Wei Wuxian's inventions in this AU, and is used by the rest of the peak, like the compass of ill winds, paper metamorphosis, the spirit attraction flag, and empathy. I lowkey want a Wei Wuxian that's native to SV to be the Yin Hui peak lord, now that I think about it. He's good with his kiddos and would be an awesome shizun. And ofc, Shen Jiu is a reflection of his environment, so he's certainly making an example out of Wei Wuxian, one of the only positive influences in his life.

Shen Jiu still has his violent tendencies, so nothing has changed about that, but he learns to take that pent-up energy out on missions instead. And he does them well. It even gives him an edge. Everyone else thinks he's just reallyyy good at his job, as expected of the talented head disciple of Yin Hui!!

He really does try his best to not be an ass (bc he gets the love he deserves on Yin Hui) and ends up venting in a different way (coz he knows better than to take it out on people who don’t deserve it.) His shizun really gave him the free reign to kill sl@ve trad3rs, human tr@ffick3rs, r-ists, and other scum whenever he wanted, in the name of stress relief lol. If killing a particular person becomes politically complicated, like the Old Palace Bastard, then you best believe he's going to scheme like the little schemer he is. He's going to Nie Huaisang the OPM.

Since Shen Jiu is not salty about his fucked up cultivation, and his martial siblings respect him, they get along just fine. His cultivation is some parts similar to Wei Wuxian's: Shen Jiu is a ghost cultivator influenced by music. Sure, he may not be that great of a spiritual cultivator, so what? He's pulling up like the Yiling Patriarch with his demonic cultivation and a haunted guqin of his own.

And guess what? Shen Jiu enjoys teaching. He's training miniature assassins, spies, and the art of demonic cultivation, so forgive him if he's more than a little enthusiastic about it. I imagine that he's exactly like Shifu from kung fu panda when it comes to teaching. Still extremely harsh and strict when training, but outside of actually teaching, he's an attentive and caring shizun. And yes, he completely does act like a father figure who is proud of his murder babies, and ends up being called A-Ba so much that all of Cang Qiong thinks he's officially adopted every single one of his disciples. (After being saved by SJ on a mission, NYY persistently begs SJ to take her in even though he desperately thinks Yin Hui isn't a good fit for her. And then, after being under him for a while, she's completed her first mission successfully, has smn else's blood on her face, and is smiling brightly. 

Ning Yingying: "I completed my mission shizun! Are you proud of me?"

Shen Jiu: "..."

Some other peaklord: "Haha like father like daughter! She's definitely your girl alright!"

Shen Jiu: "...!?!" )

Yue Qingyuan is conerneth about his Xiao Jiu, but as long as he's happy, who cares. Shen Jiu has a better relationship with the other peak lords, so when asked about why he visits brothels, he straight up tells them that it's the best place to gather information in the dark. He doesn't have that mentality of "why explain myself when no ones finna believe me anyway" He actually trusts them and is more honest with time. Shen Jiu does come clean about killing the Qiu's at some point, and the peak lords are all like-

"I didn't hear shit"

"See, I'm blind in my left eye, and 75% blind in my right-"

"Completely understandable, Shen shidi!"

They don't even ask why he did it and just assume he had a valid reason, and he absolutely fucking did.

Oh, Shen Jiu gets accused of playing dirty? Liu Qingge, he literally kills ppl and makes poison as a daytime fucking job ofc he's gonna play dirty! Shen Jiu tried killing you that one time on the well mission? Bro you good? The fact that you think he tried to kill you and failed?? You just insulted an entire peak of disciples and their ancestors. You would've been dead before you could even think of sensing their killing intent if it were true. And there was a witness too, doofus. Be fucking for real. Nahh coz there definitely would be more people who are taking Shen Jiu's side whenever the two of them fight.

Shen Jiu uses a shit ton of versatile weapons because most of his fighting and cultivation prowess comes from his wits and adapting to fighting with different styles/methods. He is kinda similar to Xie Lian bc both of them lack spiritual energy/qi (damaged spirit roots in Shen Jiu's case), but that does not mean they are weaker. It just means they learned to train their body and minds instead of relying on cultivation/qi. He has a massive arsenal of weapons along with the demonic cultivation. (Airport security would hate him)

Yin Hui has got to be my favorite fanon peak, and Yin Hui! Shen Jiu plauges so many of my waking thoughts, I can't stop-

I can add elements from my other hyperfixation into this AU, the Avatar Chronicles. Which are the written books from ATLA. The criminal organization Kyoshi joined, the Daofei, for example, could be a good plot point. Or the Platinum Affair from the Yangchen books. If you don’t know what the Avatar Chronicles are, just ignore this last part lol.

SVSSS Fanfic idea

I came up with idea like, two years ago inside of a friend’s Discord DMs, so- All of the following is literally just me quoting younger me:

I HaVE THIS IDEA FOR A CRACK- TREATED-SERIOUSLY, SORTA ANGSTY MISUNDERSTANDING-FILLED FIC

So, imagine this, right?

OG!Shen Qingqiu finds a baby, the baby is Shen Yuan who reincarnated with the system. OG!SQ is straight up like,

"wtf, who left a baby here"

And there's a little note that says, “This child's name is Shen Yuan, please care for him." and Shen Qingqiu is a bit confused about them sharing last names, but waves it off as a coincidence. Though the baby looks a little bit like him, he's never had a child before. He takes the baby down to the brothel to give to the prostitutes there because he's sure that they'd treat the baby better than him.

But once he gets there and tries to hand the baby off after saying the baby's name, the girl's misunderstand that the baby is biologically OG!SQ's child and ask OG!SQ why he would want to abandon the child. He says the child has already been abandoned and he can't care for them because he wouldn't do good raising the baby.

The girls think the woman who birthed the child abandoned both OG!SQ and SY, so the girls feel sympathetic, but still persaude OG!SQ to keep SY. He can't refuse under their insistence and ends up letting the girls feed SY before going back up to his peak.

SQQ keeps trying to awkwardly raise the baby SY without letting his fellow Peak Lords or Disciples know.

Through a series of events, Shang Qinghua finds out and happily volunteers to be the uncle after a short freak out and being death threatened by SQQ.

So SQH, is kinda like, “oh shit. SQQ adopted a child. What's gonna happen to the plot??” and the system is like,

'no clue lol' causing SQH to overthink more.

SQH is gonna be the only one in the story who knows completly that SY is an adopted child of SQQ because he's 100% sure of his character's personalities and knows that SQQ wouldn't be going around bedding people- So that child definitely isn't biologically his.

Everyone else though is gonna misunderstand SY's origins in angsty ways.

Like YGY, QQQ and MQF are all convinced SQQ was harassed and forced to have the child. LQG is convinced that SQQ had an epic love story and fell for a woman that stabbed him in the back and abandoned him with their child. Ect.

It's all mainly SQQ's fault for saying things and not elaborating, causing everyone to jump to conclusions-

And… it’s none other than transmigrator Shen Yuan. Who very loudly doesn’t want the position but he’s forced into it after unfortunately showing some common sense after Yue Qi made the worse decision that permanently kicked him out of the running for Qiong Ding head disciple.

Preying Mantis Demon Shen Yuan

a perfectly normal heterosexual guy! He is just hesitant to *ahem* get too close to any women for VERY PRACTICAL REASONS! He likes his head right where it is, okay?! Nothing against women! He was raised in a small village by his Jiejies, and they tell him he is like one of the girls (probably to keep him from having an anxiety attack, but he'll take it!)

And when he leaves his village and meets other kinds of demons it is only natural that his instincts are still distrusting. He won't let any woman that expresses anything close to interest within a meter's distance at LEAST of his fragile hetero male neck! He doesn't care if she doesn't have visible mandibles, he still just gets that uncomfortable feeling.

One day he is sent to court to try to secure protections for his home village from the new Emperor, who he has heard is half human. Shen Yuan has nothing against humans - in fact they are pretty interesting to read about, though he hasn't met an alive one in person. He is determined to treat the new Emperor with deference and focus on his task...

Except - holy shit! Shen Yuan has a VISCERAL reaction to this man!! Is it some kind of anti human instinct he didn't know about? It is really hard for him to keep his cool when he just wants to take the Emperor's body and dig his mandibles into it repeatedly!!

Meanwhile, Emperor Luo Binghe is incredibly relieved to learn that the entrancing mantis demon that has come to his court is a man, because he is smitten, and while he was coming to terms with losing his head, now he doesn't have to :)

And now Shen Qingqiu has to deal with that. With having been able to have a family that loved him. With getting to know them. With learning to be loved by a family that never stopped looking for him.

This is a show where average human beings compete for the grand prize. Yes. Average. Why? We don’t know it’s still up and it’s been 19 seasons.

Of course it’s filmed on a plane, why wouldn’t it be?

Everyone eats it up though.

Especially now when their new shizun [ that’s what they started calling the hosts ] is ruthless and scolding. He expects perfection. His actor name was Shen Qingqiu, real name Shen Yuan. He also often berates the host [ Shang Qinghua ] often who runs like a hamster so despite the ruthlessness he’s always invited back becuase he brought the views up even more.

For the 20th season special they invited influencers of the age that are average cookers!

The list is of a bunch of influencers that can either not cook or barely cooks enough to be average.

Except Luo Binghe of course.

He’s a cooking influencer.

How is he even here?? We also don’t know but Shen Qingqiu is furious becuase he knows. Or maybe for another reason??

The first episode has Liu Qingge managing to fight with a fire he caused. Luo Binghe pretending to be incompetent. Gongyi Zhao happily minding his own business. And Liu Qingge somehow winning.

It goes on and despite Luo Binghe feigning incompetence he gets to the last round, let’s say mobei jun is the last contestant.

Do he goes all out on the two foods and Shen Qingqiu is complaining about how he could have used all that knowledge previously.

But then Binghe straight up proposes to him.

And yah that’s it.

I keep brainrotting on the idea of Shen Jiu and Shen Yuan being twins and Shen Yuan’s physical body dying as a child when they were at the Qiu estate, but Shen Jiu, in distress, did something that locked Shen Yuan’s soul to his own body. And Shen Yuan has been body sharing with his brother in the background without control for decades until the qi deviation flipped them.

Shen Jiu had his son, A-Yuan when he was young and inexperienced. He didn't want to admit he was a teen dad, he wasn't ready to raise a child of his own, telling everyone he made a huge mistake.

Because a-Yuan was nothing for him, but a mistake. And be felt bad for thinking that about a harmless child, who did nothing except being born. He felt bad for giving him all the blame because he was there. And the worst thing was... he couldn't get rid of him. Because when he looked at him, he could see a younger version of him. A baby he could raise in a safe environment. A baby he could take care of and protect, just as nobody did with him when he was a child.

He decided to keep him. He decided to keep him and raise little A-Yuan as his brother. Shen Jiu introduced him as he was his baby brother and everyone was confused because... they didn't even know Shen Qingqiu still had contacts with his parents. Weren't they dead?

By the way despite the weird situation, everyone decided that they wouldn't ask and accept the baby as SQQ brother.

Of course, all the Peak Lords LOVED baby A-Yuan and were delighted by his presence and happy to see Shen Jiu taking care of another living being. He seemed to be happy. They all saw him blushing and smiling every time the baby tried to touch his face and gifted his "big brother" with his cheerful baby laughs.

Everybody accepted his version of the story, except for Yue Qingyuan, who was suspicious about that. But if Xiao Jiu wanted to tell him, he would have done so. He didn't want to force anything on him, even if it was hard to hold his curiosity, he decided he would never ask about it.

A-Yuan grew up in a happy environment, surrounded by the love and care of his father he knew as his big brother and the Peak Lords who gifted him with all the best things he could ask for. And when he was old enough, Shen Jiu took him as his disciple and started training him in cultivation. A-Yuan was his father's biggest pride, he was smart and talented, and his personality was spicy enough to not allow anyone to step on his toes. Just like Shen Jiu, but a quieter version of him. After all, he was happy to avoid all the nasty things that happened to him for his child even as a brother.

Shen Jiu started to think about telling him the truth. He was old enough and maybe he could... maybe forgive him for the lie he told him his whole life. The truth was that Shen Jiu was scared to tell him he wasn't his brother but his son. What if he started to hate him? No, it was better to hide everything. Hide everything and just look at him growing up and making his own decisions. He was a nice kid after all and he never gave any kind of worry.

Real problems started in A-Yuan teen years, especially one day when he and Shen Jiu fought because of the close relationship A-Yuan had with that little beast Shen Jiu couldn't stand. He saw a real danger in Binghe and didn't want A-Yuan to get hurt. He didn't want him to cry or get sad, he just wished to protect him his whole life.

After that fight, A-Yuan ran away screaming.

"You can't choose for me! I'm old enough to decide for my life myself now! Besides, you're not my father!! You can't tell me what to do!"

Something in Shen Jiu snapped. His heart was broken so he told everything out of rage. But he couldn't imagine A-Yuan reaction to this.

Shen Jiu saw his son's face, his widened eyes, his eyes filled with tears, everything about him was screaming betrayal. He felt like Shen Jiu, his big brother, his father was never serious with him, and he never told the truth, not even one time.

Did he ever loved him?

Of course, Shen Jiu felt even worse. A-Yuan was a teen and he dropped a huge secret in his most sensitive years, what could he expect? He felt so stupid.

A HEAVENLY DEMON IS CURSED WITH A UNIQUE PAINFUL CURSE, AND FOR LUO BINGHE, IT IS SEEING THE MEMORIES OF THE HUMANS HE KILL.

His heart has blackened greatly that he does not seem to care about the men he had slain. Most of them are bleak, boring, ambitious, sometimes purposeful, but really not about him, so he could not care less.

That is until saw the memories of Yue Qingyuan and Shen Qingqiu.

He learned that Shen Qingqiu is more of a victim than a villain. He was a former slave, a discriminated peak lord, and a traumatized man who could not sleep well if not in the safety of his Jie jies. He loved Ning Yingying as a daughter, actually tried to save Liu Qingge, and really cared for Luo Binghe as his disciple (and he did not know about the bullying).

He was only frustrated of Luo Binghe's inability to advance his cultivation (unaware of the fake manual), and upon learning his demonic heritage, decided to push him to the Abyss to train (reading somewhere that it is their passage of right.)

Luo Binghe finally realized the destruction he had brought into this world for their silly misunderstandings. The unification of the two realms is chaos. His wives are now tied into harem politics and most of them began hating him. He destroyed their lives and a chance of being someone's true love. Cultivation sects are no more, and that is bringing more and more trouble to humans who are being harassed by the demons after the unification.

He looked into the world he created, and with a heavy heart, acknowledged where it all started.

With Xin Mo, he travelled to the other universes. Every time, he sees a Shen Qingqiu, equally prideful and silent as his own, suffering in the hands of the demon lord. He's always too late. He never gets to save a Shen Qingqiu from his other blackened selves. He tried other approaches, such as talking to his versions, only to be dismissed due to blindness caused by revenge. He would plead, he would kneel, he would fight, he would try to escape with a Shen Qingqiu who is always in a human stump condition. Nothing works. He's always too late. In anger, he began killing his other versions.

One day he stumbled upon a version whose qi feels very different. More stable, more human than demonic, and much happier. He still attacked tho, he just came from a frenzy of killing Luo Binghes. They fought, but this stronger one took Xin Mo and accidentally made a portal back to his original world. Injured and bleeding, a gentle voice called to him and checked his injuries. He looked at the person's face, and with tears, he whispered:

"Shen Qingqiu."
