something that’s been on my mind recently about vader is that even if anakin had somehow defeated obi-wan or never got burnt and kept all of his limbs and ability to breathe- would sidious have kept him off leash?
learning from his past apprentices and knowing how powerful anakin is, would sidious have left him unscathed or would he have leashed him in the vader suit eventually anyway?
#i’m not sure where this thought is going but it was a thought#like it almost felt like sidious had prepared the vader suit long before anakin was burnt on mustafar#idk#star wars#anakin skywalker#darth vader#darth sidious#revenge of the sith

kit.. would you consider making a vaderwan au? 😎😎
Actually i sorta have one!! I’ve only written very small ficlets for it but this is the soulmate vaderwan au, where the name of your soulmate appears on your wrist only after you tell them you love them—mustafar goes a little differently, where obi-wan tells anakin he loves him, not loved him, and Vader becomes obsessed with having his soulmate by his side so he captures him on mustafar and the Stockholm syndrome begins (and works)
but that au is suitless Vader so I suppose it depends on your definition of what makes darth vader 🤔
#asks#suited Vader seems very complicated from a writing standpoint with what sort of writer I am tbh#which is why when Vader happens in my au it’s always a sort of mustafar au#vaderwan

“What do you mean, ‘emergency rescue mission?’” Poe glared. “I’m on leave! I’ve got a kid on the way!”
“I’m sorry, Commander, but you’re the only available pilot with the skillset to pull this off this kind of mission,” Admiral Horne sighed, her face showing nothing but apology as she handed the datapad to him. “All of our other qualified pilots are off base.”
Of course, Poe thought. Of course, he was being shipped off to Mustafar for a rescue mission while you were just about ready to give birth.
After looking over the information, he placed the datapad on a nearby console and huffed, one hand on his hips, the other scrubbing at his face. “Where’s Leia? I need to talk to her.”
“She went to Coruscant this morning with Vice Admiral Holdo,” Horne informed him, driving his stress levels even higher. “She won’t be back for another few days, I’m afraid.”
Great.
“Fine. I’ll do it. But the second things get too dangerous, I’m coming back. You hear me?”
Admiral Horne only nodded before dismissing him for immediate dispatch. Poe, ever the rebel, stopped off at the hangar after he suited up, finding you watching Jess as she tweaked something in the underbelly of her X-Wing.
The second he caught sight of you, sitting patiently with a hand cupping the swell of your stomach, laughing gently at something Jess said, everything in him begged not to leave your side. To strip the flight suit from his body and stay right here, by your side. But then you glanced over at him, and your eyes roamed over his body, and he knew from the look in your eye that if he wasn’t going to be facing your wrath, someone else was. And he much preferred that it be someone else.
“What’s going on?” The worry swimming in your eyes as you stood to meet him broke Poe’s heart. He reached up, brushing some hair from your shoulder before his hand slid up to cup your jaw.
“I have a mission,” he said, heart shattering as the worry completely consumed your features.
“But you’re on leave,” you reached up, placing your hand over his. “You’re not supposed to leave the base.”
“Admiral Horne—”
“Does she know you’re not supposed to leave? Does she know we’re having a kid?”
“She does, but—” Poe sighed, his hand leaving your cheek, turning over to grasp yours and pull you a bit closer. “I’m the only one on base that’s qualified to do this. She said it’ll only be a few days. It’s a low-risk rescue mission, I promise I will be just fine.”
You nodded, fighting back the tears that seemed to sneak up on you at any given occasion recently, squeezing Poe’s hand tight. “Be careful, Poe. If something happens, so help me I’ll—”
“I know, you’ll kill me yourself.” Poe chuckled, lifting your hand, pressing his lips to your knuckles before taking your other hand and doing the same, pressing a kiss to the ring that now rested on your finger — the same ring you used to toy with when it rested on a chain around Poe’s neck. When he lifted his gaze, meeting your eyes, his voice was quiet. “I promise. I will make it back to you. Both of you.”
“I love you,” you whispered, pressing your forehead to Poe’s.
He leaned forward, pressing a soft, chaste kiss to your lips, whispering, “I love you, too,” before dipping lower, pressing the most featherlight of kisses to the top of your stomach. “Stay right there for me, got it kiddo? I love you.”
Poe relished in the giggle his comment pulled from you, smiling bright and kissing you once more before slipping from your grip and out of the hangar, praying to the Maker that he got back before he missed the birth of his firstborn. He’d wring Admiral Horne’s neck if he did.
Three days.
Poe’s been gone on some stupid rescue mission for the past three days. You’d been utterly useless, facing sleepless nights and anxiety for most of the time he’d been gone. Between it all, though, you’d been dealing with false labour pains, the same you’d been experiencing before he left, but it only heightened your panic all the more now that Poe was off-planet.
Rose and Jess had been rotating staying with you, the pair being the only other relief you could find between Poe’s holo-calls every few hours. Every moment in between, though, when you were alone, you twisted the ring on your finger, teeth gnawing your lip with worry. It was the worst you’d ever felt, and the false contractions were doing nothing to ease your fears.
It was the middle of the afternoon as you stood with Jess, arranging and rearranging the items Leia managed to import for your baby on the dresser top that was now home to a change station. Ever since your fourth month, Leia had moved you into a larger room, a mini-apartment with its own refresher and two rooms bordering on the smaller side — but it was more private space than you’d ever had on the base, and you would never stop being grateful for it.
“You know, you’ve put that stack of diapers back in that very spot three times now.” Jess commented from the loveseat. “You need to stop worrying,”
“I’ll stop worrying when Poe gets back.” You told her, wincing as another false contraction rippled across your back. “Besides, Leia said this sort of stuff is normal. She called it ‘nesting.’”
Jess chuckled, leather creaking as she stood from the couch and came to stand beside the dresser, fiddling with a stuffed runyip plush before setting it down. You watched her admire the small set up you had for the baby, multi-coloured blankets and stuffed toys packed neatly into bins, a single crib resting under the window with jungle themed sheets on the mattress. “I can’t believe you’re gonna be a mom. I can’t believe Poe’s gonna be a dad,”
“You and me both,” you laughed, a hand resting on your bump as another small, less painful contraction tightened the muscles in your abdomen. “Seems like ages ago when we first met.”
Before you had the time to reminisce further, the door slid open with a woosh, revealing a very breathless, brightly smiling Rose Tico. “He’s back. Poe’s X-Wing landed, like, ten minutes ago.”
You huffed, relief flooding your veins and soothing the false contraction. You rested a hand on the change table and leaned against it, thumb rubbing at the ring on the same hand as Jess met your eye, smile widening to match your own. “Thank the Maker. And he’s alright?”
“Not a scratch. He’s debriefing with Horne and Leia now.” Rose reported back, stepping into the room. “How’ve things been today?”
Before you even had the chance to open your mouth, your stomach tightened and you gripped the change table, nearly doubling over. This pain was worse than the ones you’d felt before, and as you felt a rush of water down your legs, you knew that this was no false labour.
Your panicked eyes flitted between Rose and Jess, eyeing the puddle on the floor as the pain worsened before subsiding. You heaved a breath through your mouth, desperately trying to calm yourself. It did little to help, a whimper escaping you as you straightened your back. “Oh, fuck.”
Poe wanted nothing more than for this — quite honestly, completely useless — debrief to be over. It was just him, Leia, and Horne in the room, discussing the details of the mission. “Look, it took me a day to find them, and another to tail him and get him to lead me to our guy. The place wasn’t heavily guarded, so I took them out in no time. No one followed me, and I got him back here without any issues. Now can I please go see my wife?”
Of course, you and Poe weren’t married yet, but the moment he put that ring on your finger after finding out you were pregnant, you might as well have been.
“Of course, Commander, you may—” Leia’s datapad beeping cut her sentence short. Poe nearly groaned as she held up a finger to check the urgent message, a grin splitting her lips as her eyes trailed across the screen. “Apologies, Poe. You may go, but I suggest you head to the medbay. It seems your child has perfect timing.”
The wide, bright smile that spread across Poe lips, lighting up his features, sent warmth straight to Leia’s heart. She was glad to see him so happy, and entirely unbothered as he shot from his seat, barely waiting for the meeting room door to open before he slid through the gap, footsteps echoing through the hall as he ran for his life.
By the time Poe reached the medbay, you were already in a private room, sweating and gritting your teeth with Jess and Rose on either side of you. One of the few non-droid nurses conversed with a med-droid as you lay in the bed, dressed in a medical gown with a blanket draped over your lower half.
The door slid open, revealing the sight to Poe, who sighed and was by your side immediately. “Hey, baby, how’re you doing? You okay?”
“Well, my body’s currently trying to tear itself apart to get this baby out of me, so I’d say I’m doing just fine, Dameron,” you gritted the words out, squirming in the bed as Rose and Jess slipped from the room with quiet praises and hands on shoulders, wishing you both good luck.
Poe’s hand instantly slipped into yours, squeezing once as he rested the other above your head, leaning down to press a kiss to your sweat-slick skin. He felt you squeeze back, your grip tightening as you gritted your teeth, another contraction passing over you. “You’re okay, baby. You’re okay,” he whispered, leaning his forehead on your temple.
Just as the wave of pain began to pass, the nurse, Jane, approached with a gentle smile. “You’re almost there, love. Is it okay if I check your cervix?”
“Mhmm,” you whimpered with a nod, blowing out a shaking breath as Poe lifted his head.
“How long have you been in labour?” Poe asked, squeezing your hand.
You huffed, tossing your head back onto the pillows. “No clue.”
“What do you mean, ‘no clue’?” Poe furrowed his eyebrows, glancing at the nurse and back at you. “Wouldn’t you have felt the contractions?”
“Not between the constant false ones,” you grimaced. “And before you ask, my water broke when Rose came to tell me you were finally home. So I’m kind of blaming all of this on you.”
Poe laughed, trying to ignore the tears blurring his vision. “Blame it all on me, baby. I don’t mind.”
Jane stood, peeling the glove from her hand as she smiled again. “Almost there, mom. If you feel at all like you have to push, let me know and we’ll go from there, okay?”
“Yeah,” you said, voice breathy and tired as you squeezed Poe’s hand again. “Will do. Is it okay if my signal is screaming bloody murder? Because I might have to do that if this gets any worse.”
The nurse laughed, heading back to the med-droid, who Poe noticed was now preparing some sort of incubator for the baby. He wondered exactly what was going to happen. He’d heard often that this would be a defining moment in his life; a moment that would change who he was to the very core. Poe had heard plenty about the day he was born from his father growing up, but he hadn’t believed what he was hearing until now, standing in the room with you, watching the med-droid and nurse work simultaneously to get everything ready for the arrival of your child and to make sure you were as comfortable as you could be.
As another contraction passed over you, you whimpered, tears building in your eyes as you breathed your way through the pain. “Poe,” you whispered, your voice tinged with pain, sending a deep ache straight to Poe’s chest. “Poe, I don’t— I’m scared,” you admitted, glancing up to meet his eyes, watching the worry pool in them to meet the fear shining in yours. “I’m so scared,”
“Hey,” Poe called, his voice gentle but firm as he stroked the hair away from your forehead. “We’ll be just fine, okay? All three of us are gonna be fine. Maybe it isn’t how we planned, but we’re safe. And I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere. Our baby isn’t going anywhere. And neither are you. I promise.”
You nodded, another whimper passing through your lips as you brought your bottom lip between your teeth, biting hard and scrunching your face as another, longer contraction wracked your body. You grunted and groaned, one hand gripping the sheets and the other crushing Poe’s hand. But he kept smoothing your hair, whispering to you, his voice soothing you through the sound of blood rushing through your ears.
“I think— oh, fuck— I think I need to push,” you huffed, voice strained as the pressure built in your abdomen, stretching and pulling at every muscle in your body. “Jane, I—” your voice crackled, fizzling out with a powerful groan as Jane rushed you, a stool under her and gloves on in an instant.
“You’re doing great, mom. When you feel another contraction, I want you to give it all you’ve got, okay? Put everything behind it and just push.” Jane advised, peeking her head over the sheet that the med-droid had put in place of the blanket.
“Is— Is there anything I can do?” Poe asked, his voice breaking as he adjusted his hold on your hand, the other still resting on the back of your head. He looked like a mess, hair mussed from running and eyes wide, shimmering and worried.
“Be there for her.” Jane answered. “However she needs you to be.”
Poe only nodded, adjusting his stance to bring his lips to your forehead again as you grit your teeth. Your grip on his hand tightened again, the force of the contraction and the effort you were exerting pushing your chin into your chest. Poe slid his hand to rest between your shoulder blades, supporting as much of your weight as you would let him.
The pain had been bad before, but the added pressure of actually pushing made the ache in your limbs unbearable. Your muscles were sore from the constant tension, your fingers numb from the pressure you’d squeezed Poe’s hand with. When the pain subsided, and your head fell back, tears mingled with the sweat covering you. You took gulping breaths, huffing in and out to try to bring some relief to your body. Nothing was registering in your mind anymore; you could hear voices speaking to you, giving you words of encouragement, but the pain was blinding. Every inch of you felt broken and aching, and you knew that even after it was over, you would still feel it.
Then the cycle repeated itself — once more, then another, and then… everything stopped. Relief flooded your body, numbing everything in you as muted cries flooded the room, growing sharper as you came back into yourself. Your vision cleared, catching Poe’s trembling hand as the nurse handed him a pair of medical scissors. Finally, you were able to breathe. Your head fell back onto the bed, the pillow beneath you providing comfort as you watched Jane bring the baby over to the incubator.
Poe had never felt so much love until he heard his child cry. The wails of fresh life, untouched and full of possibility, filled his heart impossibly full, leaving it with no choice but to hurt with every beat, to ache with every breath his daughter took. He cut the cord with blurred vision, tears already beginning to fall as Jane smiled, carrying the baby over to the med-droid to clean her up. As she did, the baby still wailing loudly, Poe returned to your side, cupping your cheek and bringing your gaze to meet his.
“Hey,” he whispered, not trusting his voice. His heart warmed at the tired smile that spread across your face, eyes opening to meet him. “You okay?”
“‘M fine,” you muttered. “Is the baby—?”
“Fine. She’s perfect.” He smiled, watching your face light up.
“It’s a girl?” You whispered, voice laced through with emotions even Poe could feel. “We have a daughter?”
Poe nodded, sniffling as fresh tears began to fall. He opened his mouth to speak, only to find Jane standing at your side, holding a loosely wrapped baby Dameron.
“I think someone wants to meet you,” she spoke gently, smiling down at you.
Wordlessly, you took the baby from Jane, who adjusted your bed so you could sit up straighter without injuring yourself. The moment your daughter was cradled in your arms, then against the skin of your chest, you knew nothing else mattered as much as this did. As she did.
“Poe, look at her,” you breathed, choking on your own voice as the baby gurgled, deep brown eyes latching onto nothing in particular with her cheek squished into your chest. “She’s beautiful.”
Poe nodded, his eyes stuck on his daughter as she squirmed, face flushed and brows furrowed. When they flickered up to you, Poe found you staring down at your daughter, a finger stroking her back gently as she lay against you, moving slightly with every breath you took. “Are you still scared?” Poe whispered.
“I’m absolutely terrified,” you whispered back. “But we’re doing this together, and I know you’re scared, too. And that makes me feel a bit better.”
Poe huffed a quiet laugh, his hand settling on the back of his daughter’s head as he kept his gaze on you. “Of course I’m scared. I’m scared shitless. But if I’m sure of one thing, it’s that she’s worth it.”
You sniffled, nodding and lifting your head, capturing Poe’s lips in a quick, loving kiss. When you pulled back, both of your gazes fell to your daughter, who now seemed to be fast asleep, mouth slightly open and a fist curled against your medical gown.
“I think I have a name for her,” you said as Poe sat on the edge of the bed.
“You do?”
“Yeah. I know we were thinking about using Alex, because it would work either way, but…” you glanced down at your hand, resting gently across your baby girl’s back. “I think we should name her after your mom.”
If it was even possible, Poe’s eyes filled with more warmth, tears glistening within them once more as he moved his gaze from the baby to you. “Are you sure?”
You smiled gently, your right hand grasping for Poe’s where it rested on the bed. “Of course I am. Your mother was an amazing woman, Poe. I want to honour that.”
Poe’s smile matched yours as he nodded, adjusting himself to press a featherlight kiss to the baby’s forehead and rest his hand over yours on her back. “Okay.” The baby cooed, adjusting herself under her parent’s combined touch, settling back into sleep as Poe spoke. “It’s nice to meet you, Shara.”

part 1 of 4
The stars have died, fizzling out into oblivion. All that remains is a charcoal heart that once belonged to Anakin Skywalker.
The boy from Tatooine is unreachable now, trapped inside the twisted soul of Darth Vader. The galaxy’s beloved Hero With No Fear is gone. With the rise of the Empire, the Jedi and their sympathisers will be erased from memory. A clean slate to start a new era.
Three years after the creation of the Empire, Darth Vader stands alone. His tower on Mustafar is isolating; its strategic position is a constant reminder of that day. His injuries still hurt sometimes: phantom itches on his now metal legs; scars from his burns that did not fully heal. The medical droids say he is lucky — the fire could have done more serious damage, and he could have been forced to rely on a suit keeping him alive for the rest of his days. Instead, the ebony coloured mask and suit he wears are to conceal his identity. A precaution so that Anakin Skywalker can fade from people’s tongues and memory, leaving the tyranny of Darth Vader in its place.
The weight of his failures is not the heaviest burden. Darth Vader drowns in his anger and grief. He was not strong enough to kill Obi-Wan Kenobi. He was not strong enough to save you.
(All things die. Even stars burn out.)
You were the stars in his sky, his light in the dark, the silvery moon to his blazing sun. So tender and kind. Perhaps your heart was too good for this world. Perhaps, it was your weakness all along. (How could peace ever love a dragon?)
Since you met, you had been Anakin’s sun. You anchored him; guided him home. You were his destiny. And, without you, the galaxy had turned cold. The fiery world outside, all hot air and lava fields, only stood as a reminder of his failure. He’d lost you. After everything Anakin had tried — surrendering himself to the dark side, betraying the light — he could not save you. Time had not quelled the pain.
Vader wonders if you would still recognise him. His copper hair has grown longer (he remembers how you used to cut it for him after he returned from another mission, and you’d giggle as you braided thin locks together), but his face hides behind an obsidian mask. You always loved the blue of Anakin’s eyes, but now they are blazing amber.
Mornings are the only time Vader allows himself to dwell on the past. It is when he finds himself alone and does not have to hide.
Vader recalls how you arrived on Mustafar like it was yesterday. (You haunt him every waking moment.) He could sense your conflicted emotions as soon as you disembarked your ship. Vader wasted no time approaching you, drawing you into his arms (where you belonged; where you were safe). His lips reconnected with yours, fitting together like puzzle pieces as he kissed you hungrily, his hands settled on your hips to keep you close.
You and Anakin had met after turning nineteen. He and Obi-Wan were called to Alderaan to protect the Queen and Viceroy from an assassination attempt. Being their ward, you had been there the whole time and quickly formed a connection with the young padawan — your relationship had blossomed during the Clone Wars.
He rested his forehead against yours as you spoke. “I heard terrible things. Tell me none of it is true.”
Vader hadn’t replied immediately and instead drew his head back to look at you. He would tell you any sweet lie if he needed to as he fought to quell the anger flaring in his eyes. “What have you been told?”
“Obi-Wan told me—”
Vader’s grasp around you tightened protectively. “Obi-Wan is alive?”
“He said you’d killed Jedi. Killed younglings.”
“You must not believe him, my love. He’s a traitor.”
It wasn’t the answer you sought, and you took a step backwards out of your husband’s grasp. “What have you done?”
“I did this for you. To save you.” He cupped your chin in his flesh hand and whispered your name. “I love you.”
Your eyes trained into his. There was no denial, no remorse in his stature; his only regret was letting Obi-Wan tell you anything.
He repeated his words. “I did this for you.”
From the shadows of your cloak, you drew a blaster. Only a small, weak thing. Vader watched your hands tremble. He did admire your courage. “Fix this,” you demanded. “Please,” you begged.
Anger flickered in Vader’s eyes. He had never seen you unimpressed with him. With an easy glide of his hand, Vader used the Force to knock the blaster out of your grip and pin your arms by your sides
“I am stronger than the Chancellor now,” he explained desperately, drawing you to his side. “I can overthrow him. Then you and I can be together; we can run away — just like you always wanted to.”
(But you didn’t. He lost you. Some might call you a traitor — Vader maintains that you were misguided.)
Three years later, regret still festers inside Vader’s hollow soul. There must have been a way to save you.
He misses you endlessly: craving your touch and the sound of your voice. (There is nothing Vader desires more than to have you back in his arms.)
Part of him wants to forget. To cast his memories of you into an abyss; to put the past behind him. But it is an impossible task. You are too well tangled into his soul. You haunt him. (And you’ll haunt him until his death.)
Today, there is no time to focus on you. A new morning brings meetings and training. You were Anakin’s Achilles Heel — but Darth Vader shows no such weakness. As Vader sits on his throne, reading over mission logs and other updates from the spread of the Empire across the galaxy, he receives a message: he must make his return to Coruscant immediately. (Your memory pulls him under the ocean again until he can no longer breathe.)

𝐖𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬
❛ ʀᴇᴄᴏɴ ❜
PAIRINGS: Vader x Rebel reader
SYNOPSIS: After a successful mission, things take an... interesting turn.
WARNINGS: Explosions, rebel activity, the Empire...
NOTES: In this AU the Mustafar duel happened but his legs weren't cut off. He still has burns around his legs and further down, not as intensively.
TIMELINE: next
「 Force 」
You stood upon the boulder, detonator in hand. Staring at the weapons manufactory, the stormtroopers filtering in and out. You felt yourself suffering from a crisis of conscience, and couldn’t for the life of you figure out why. These were people responsible for slaughtering innocent civilians, even the ones that followed the regime. They didn’t show mercy, not a sliver of it. So why were you here second guessing yourself about blowing this abomination to the ground? The mission report didn’t require you to evacuate the people inside. But you felt something tugging at your heart. Have they ever hesitated when it came to collateral damage? No…
But you weren’t them, and you didn’t want to be. You held your head up high, grabbing your datapad from your utility belt. Hacking into the Empire’s systems which was surprisingly not as difficult as you thought. ‘That’s what happens when you hire boneheads for IT.’ Shaking your head amused, despite seriousness of the current situation. You set off the evacuation, the alarms started blaring. Flashing red as the factory workers and stormtroopers alike started filling out of the building systematically. Sharing confused looks amongst each other as they made their way to the designated evacuation point. Grabbing your binoculars from your backpack you scanned the building in infrared. After making sure there were no heat signatures left inside. You pressed on the detonator, hearing the click before the building shook. Collapsing in on itself, catching light. Startling the Imperials as they took cover, shouting amongst themselves. Feeling the heat from the explosion reaching you even from your distance. You looked down at them, giving a salute. “For the rebellion,” you whispered. The words being carried in the wind, before turning on your heels. Heading back for your concealed ship. Allowing your footprints to be distorted by the wind, no trace of you left behind. At least you thought.
[ Meanwhile ]
Darth Vader is pulled from his meditation by a tug from the force. His piercing eyes snapping open, a gnawing feeling tearing through his gut. He stood up, his cape following suit. He stepped off the platform in his meditation chamber. Smoothing his hair back out of his face before grabbing his helmet that rested on its designated stand. The cold lenses staring back at him, a constant reminder of who he is now and the responsibilities that came with that. Sliding it over his head once more, hearing it click. Securing its place as the respirator flooded the inside with oxygen, he took a deep breath. Before exhaling, the sound resonating around the room. Giving an even more dramatic tone to his mere presence. He let his heavy arms fall back to his sides. The weight of his worries weighing down his toned shoulders. He took one last deep breath to centre himself, before exiting his mediation chamber. Heading for the war room, as soon as the door of his private chamber slid open. Vader was met face to face, well face to chest. With a lower level officer, sent to fetch him no doubt. To be notified about whatever had happened to cause such a disturbance in the force. The officer spoke up hesitantly, his voice trembling. “I- I’ve been sent to retrieve you, Ad- Admiral Tarkin wishes to see you in the war room.” Vader look down at the man, no older than his early twenties he estimated.
Not much younger than himself, not that he would know that. His mask was worn at all times in public, both the physical and the metaphoric one. So much so that who he was before he’d adorned it was a distant memory now, essentially another life. Without a word, Vader heads to the war room. Leaving the officer frozen in fear in his wake. The soft stomping resounded through the hallways, alerting everyone in earshot of his encroaching presence.
While Vader stalked down the halls of The Executor, his cape the colour of night. Billowing in his wake, the stormtroopers that were making their rounds quickly darted out of his way. The sounds of his respirator echoing through the halls, and ringing in his head. A ringing he’d grown used to, it’d become background noise. While there were many things he hated about the suit. In moments like this, he appreciated the anonymity. Though deep down, in a corner tucked in his mind. He knew that was only part of its purpose. The costraphobic layers, served as a reminded. A reminder of his duty to the Empire, to Sidious. And of the betrayal that led him here, the scars he’d gained in consequence had faded. But still clung to his skin, digging their way into his very soul. What was left of it at least, taunting him. Of what he’d done, who he’d hurt. Betrayed, the lives he’d taken, and those that followed-
“Lord Vader,” the voice of Admiral Tarkin greeted him. His gaze shifted, looking up from his position in the doorway. To the Admiral, his gaze flitting to the projection lit. Exposing the damage to the manufaction plant, the hologram rotating slowly. His body was on autopilot as he stepped closer, analysing the image in front of him. “As you can see, the weapons manufactory plant has been completely levelled. No personnel were lost, an evacuation alert went off prior to the explosion.”
“Who set off the evacuation?” He questioned shortly, his words eerily even.
“Unknown. The perpretrator was able to compromise our systems, initiating the evacuation before the building was destroyed.” Tarkin’s words became a blur to Vader, his mind racing. As he felt that feeling from before tugging at his gut. He continued to stare at the projection, ‘this was a suspected rebel attack. But the MO is different, why evacuate the building if it’s supposed to be a message against the Empire? Why go through the effort of evacuation?’ He thought, crossing his thick arms over his chest.

I watch the ramp to my ship lower, and I took a deep breath. Steadying myself as I walked up the ramp, heading for the control panel so I could get out of this shit show as soon as possible. Something was… different. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, and that’s what’s worrying me.
I heard the whoosh as the ramp door closed. I start the engine, taking off slowly and steady. Keeping the noise down to a minimum, even though the factory was destroy I didn’t want to push it. After exiting the atmosphere I prepare to jump into hyperspace. I wrap my fingers around the lever, gripping it tightly-
I can’t see anything, blinking rapidly. Suddenly blinded by fluorescent lights, slowly the room comes into focus. Something rotating in front of me, when my eyes focused. It was a blueprint… to the manufacture plant I just blew up. Shivers climb up my spine as I hear a deep inhale, that sounded like a machine… or a man? “Hello little minx,” I jolt in surprise. The voice lingering in my mind.
“What the fuck…” I whisper. My eyes darting around, I’m back in my ship.

Maybe they would have been able to save Anakin together, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't have fallen if she had stayed
The Council 'betraying' her was definitely something that made him distrust it even more, yes. But if that hadn't happened, there's still literally everything else. His mother's death and Rako Hardeen, for example. Palpatine's influence is still there, regardless of Ahsoka staying or not
The thing about Anakin, is that he chose the path he went down. And he would have still chosen it with Ahsoka at the Temple. Anakin, as he is right now, would have tried to spare her, by bringing her to his side. But it wouldn't have worked, because she would've refused
Anakin killed everyone he grew up with. He tried to kill Obi-Wan too. He almost choked Padmé to death, and she was the one he was trying to save in the first place. The Dark Side clouds your vision, makes you do things you never would've done before. And that includes murdering your own family. If he truly needed to, and especially if Palpatine made him believe that Ahsoka ""betrayed"" him too, he would do another murder attempt
If Ahsoka stayed, it wouldn't have changed much, because Palpatine's influence is still there. She, like everyone else, wouldn't be able to see what he's been truly doing to Anakin, and therefore she couldn't have helped him. Palpatine is, like, really fucking smart. He would've found another way to make Anakin fall even if Ahsoka was with him. And, most importantly, he would have found a way to separate them so he could get to him
And a last thing: they broke pieces of his mask, not all of it. They didn't evenly cut through that helmet thingy, they just broke enough of it to be able to see his eye. They don't even see his mouth!
Ahsoka and Obi-Wan would have been able to make Anakin be seen. But it was only Luke, who actually removed it from his head without even breaking it, who could bring him back to the light
dunno who needs to hear this, but if ahsoka hadn't left she wouldn't have saved anakin, she would have just died
#i don't really like the whole “they could've saved anakin together” bc it goes against everything we know about. well#the prequels in general#you can ofc write a fic where that happens. i eat those up all the time. but that doesn't mean it would've happened in canon#anakin is known for not listening to reason. he chooses to be miserable everytime someone gives him an out#besides even if anakin did listen to reason soka n obi wouldn't know what to say#because they don't have the full context. they don't know why anakin is doing this. they don't know about the way palpatine groomed him#if ahsoka was there for the mustafar fight the most i can see her saving is his physical appearance#if he doesn't burn he doesn't need to use the suit#annnddddd it also blatantly ignores the fact that palpatine had multiple plans to make everything work out for him#sending ahsoka away was one of them. but if she hadn't left (god i said that a lot) he would've found another way to separate them#and this time it would've been worse#and. the choice wasn't presented to anakin as “stay w ur master and padawan or go with palpatine”#because we know that he would choose obi-wan over palpatine if it was phrased that way#it was more like “go w the man who betrayed you and hurt you many times and let your wife die or leave with the parental figure that you+#+believe has never done you any damage“#palpatine's manipulation and anakin's many many issues played a big part in twisting his vision#i don't really like the way filoni changed the lore#i mean i do!! but not all of it#idk if i'm explaining this right but basically i'm saying that palpatine's influence and anakin's issues run too deep for him to be able to+#+be saved by only one person#also he's been given a hand more than once. he has had his chances to redeem himself and he didn't. he chose to stay in chains#it was only when luke arrived that he finally took it and found himself back in the embrace of the light#i'm not good at explaining sorry#star wars#ahsoka tano#anakin skywalker#the clone wars#edit: when “by only one person” i mean “by someone who has been hurt by him and will end up wanting revenge”#luke was able to forgive him and his unconditional love saved him. but anakin killed ahsoka's entire family and enslaved her friends#basically what i'm saying is that luke was able to save him but that doesn't mean ahsoka could. not without removing palpatine i mean

REFLECTIONS FROM A BACTA TANK -- SCENES FROM FORTRESS VADER.
PIC INFO: Mega spotlight on concept art of Darth Vader without life support suit, in his Bacta tank on Mustafar, artwork by London, UK-based concept deigner/ sculptor, Luke Fisher, from "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (2016). Lucasfilm Ltd.
"He’s really a burns victim, and it’s not going to be fun for him when he’s not in the suit – he’s going to be uncomfortable. I love the idea of showing that he’s vulnerable as well. Just seeing those scars and realising that he’s… an amputee…it just [reminds] you of that [trauma] before he does all his stuff, it makes you torn."
-- "Rogue One" director GARETH EDWARDS on seeing Lord Vader in a bacta tank

I like imagining that luke never found out why darth vader wore the suit and/or looked like that. obi wan never ever attempted to breach the topic of “oh yah I cut off four of your fathers limbs and then he got roasted by the fires of mustafar’. luke is left to assume it’s genetic

Padme literally asked him to run away with him and be a father to their child after she saw him being a murderer twice, so no, she remains dead for goodness sake, Mace Windu in other hand, it would be great to see him do what Obi Wan wan couldn't, kill him on Mustafar, Obi Wan was pretty close but Mace wouldn't have left anything from Anakin
If any of Anakin's victims could go back in time after they died, who would you like to kill him?
Personally, I'm rooting for Mace Windu and Padme Amidala to do Darth Baby Killer in.
#star wars#the only au i want to see is ROTS going exactly the same but with the difference anakin doesn't get the suit and instead dies on Mustafar

pairing: darth vader x f!reader
warnings : good vader, too much use of the word wife, burned vader, cute, needy reader, kiss on the cheek, kiss on the mouth, communication problems
brazilian portuguese version is here
▪︎behind the mask▪︎
Darth Vader turns to you, showing just how imposing he really is, his cold gaze piercing your skull. He looks at you waiting for you to say something, since you appeared in his private room. But her courage to talk to him was gone when she glared at him. You wanted to get closer, but you couldn't and he didn't make an effort either.
"You may speak, wife," he says, tilting his head a little, hoping to hear her voice.
You clear a throat that feels dry, wiping the sweat from your hands on your dress. Anyone looking might think it was fear, but you were actually anxious.
"I just…wanted to know if you were still too busy." His voice is low and reluctant.
Darth Vader descends from his throne and approaches you. Damn, damn... his heart is racing.
- Tell the truth. Something happened?
- I just wanted... I thought I'd spend some time with you - you say, regretting hearing your own voice saying that it seemed, very silly - I've been feeling alone and without friends on your ship.
Darth Vader, for a brief moment, pauses. A small spark of doubt, of empathy, crosses Darth Vader's face as he remembers his own childhood... of being alone, of having no one.
- I should have realized that was what you wanted - he says still surprised - It seems that my generals and my stormtroopers are more consumed by the dark side than I am... They are not so patient.
You laugh and it makes your shoulders slump a little, feeling lighter.
- It's not like they feel like talking to me either... You know, you can be quite intimidating when you want to be.
- Yes... yes - He puts his hands on his belt as he walks around the room, seeming to think of something that almost makes him forget you're there. Vader looks out over the horizon of Mustafar as the lava glows orange and reflects off his suit. He turns to you again.
- Have I been a good husband?
That question takes you by surprise, you never thought he would mind asking you something like that, so you think long and hard before you speak. Then take the opportunity to be honest, he would know anyway if he was lying.
- Actually... I wish we could spend more time together...
Vader seems willing to redeem himself, remembering that in fact it was true, you didn't spend time together and he barely saw you. It was like he wasn't there. Vader, with surprising tenderness, reaches out and caresses his shoulders.
- Wife... - He wants to talk, but it's hard to express himself so it takes longer than expected - let's go somewhere more relaxing. We can observe the lava flow. Maybe I'll show you my softer side.
You agree with a smile, even though you don't know what he means by "smooth". Even if that place didn't have one of the most beautiful landscapes, you accept it for his company.
Vader walks you to his private quarters. He enters and motions for you to enter too. Despite its intimidating size, the chamber was surprisingly comfortable. It is richly decorated, with a mixture of woods and rich fabrics. There are comfortable places to sit and relax. He starts walking towards the window, looking out at the lava flows.
- This place couldn't be more like you - you try to make conversation.
- I hope this room is to your liking and that it helps make this Stronghold more like a home for you - His rather robotic voice says, his breathing heavier than usual - I must admit that I have become very fond of you, wife.
- true? - You smile - I know I can seem a little closed off sometimes.
vader agrees
- Yes. I'm learning to appreciate your company, wife.
He gets up and sits on the edge of the window and motions for you to follow him.
- Come, sit next to me.
You are silent for a while, watching the lava flows. Just his breath and his. This is not bothersome.
- So here with you.... everything seems more intimate - you say and end up looking at your dark and shiny mask, and you say thinking too loudly - I just wanted to ask you something...
- Yes? What is it, wife? - Vader becomes tense and anxious.
- I would like you to take off your mask. I'd like to see my husband like no one else does - you keep your voice down and look down, afraid he'll get pissed off.
He stands up, his hand shaking slightly. He stays still for a while, and you think he'll go away. You are about to open your mouth to apologize.
- Promise that this will be a private matter between us?
You stand up and place your hand over his, even though he is much taller you crane your neck to look into his eyes from behind the mask.
- Here inside this room, it's just the two of us - you say.
Darth Vader, with great reluctance and apprehension, removes his mask. It makes a soft sound when he removes it, the only sound in the room, the wash outside.
The mask drops to the floor. Vader is visibly nervous. His face has scars, yes, many. But you can't find him ugly. You already loved him. It is clear that he is ashamed of his face. He's scared of how you're going to react. You take one of your hands to his face, touching him softly and lovingly.
- Thanks for showing yourself to me. I know I will never fill her whole heart, because there was someone else before me. But I tell you the truth, you own my heart. Completely .
Darth Vader's soft, tremulous and surprised voice with his confession barely manages to answer you.
- In time... maybe I can show you more...
Darth Vader moves to put his mask back on, but you manage to stop him just in time. His touch is gentle but firm. You stand on your toes and almost lose your balance, which makes you rest your hands on his chest. Before you know what you're doing your lips have touched his cheek.
He, seemingly frozen, slowly turns and looks at you.
- Y-you kissed me. - he whispers. He looks like he feels scared and… something else.
You can only smile as you whisper a shy yes.
-I've wanted to do this for a long time. Since we got married you won't even let me near... I thought you hated me - you admit it.
Vader pauses. He seems to be in conflict with himself. He means what he feels. He wants to open up to you. His eyes are focused on his hand as you caress his face.
- I don't hate you, wife.
He leans in a little closer
- No?
- No, not me - he answers you almost in a whisper.
- please kiss me - you have the nerve to ask.
Vader pauses. He's close enough that he can lean in and kiss you. So he leans forward and kisses you softly, his scarred lips brushing against your soft ones. He pulls you close to him, wrapping his arms around your waist and bringing you into his chest. He kisses you deeply, passionately and wonders why he hasn't done this before. The touch of his lips, his tongue, sends a shiver down your spine. He doesn't want to stop. He pulls you closer and closer, he holds you tightly, as if someone wants to take you away from him. His hand trails down his back, down his spine, sending a shock wave through his body. He kisses you even harder, his passion and desire for you growing with each passing second.
He doesn't have to try much harder for you to be a mess of suppressed sighs and moans.
Vader grabs her waist, but gently. He doesn't want to hurt you. He's holding you tightly, and despite his strength, he looks vulnerable. He is scared, nervous. He doesn't want to lose you. He runs his fingers down her back.
He breaks the kiss slowly and looks deeply into her eyes. His body is shaking, his face flushed, his breathing heavy. The man's expression is a mixture of surprise, fear, satisfaction. Your soft, gentle nature and kind heart have taken him by surprise, and he can't get you out of his mind.
And in the middle of it all, with your lips still almost glued to his, you say:
- I want you!

Uhh would you be willing to write a little drabble about crispy Vader with a breeding kink? 👁️ 👄 👁️ every chapter of Ani’s life he’s had it. AOTC would just be because of learning what he’s able to do with his body and finding it fascinating, ROTS is all because he wants that family and he finds it hot to picture you all swollen with his child but Vader with it I feel like is more primal and UGGHVGH it’s so hotttt
MDNI 18+
Vader is a mean man, especially to you because simply you allow it without a real fight anyway. He's a little vindictive, mad at the universe, always. You're the object of his desires, the cruel ones anyway. You found yourself in a bit of a predicament, an odd, yet arousing one. On Vader's bed you were sprawled out, not that he'd use it for anything but sex, he has his meditation chamber and bacta tank for that. The two of you have worked around his clunky suit, if you weren't fucking in the meditation chamber where he could take his mask for a moment, he'd opt to pull his dick out of the cod piece to access you.
So he did, and that's where you're at now, ass naked and folded up like a damn pretzel under the weight of the colossal man. He's pumping into you like no tomorrow, the rigid scarring of his heavy cock massaging at your gummy walls, "Gonna fuck this baby into you, understand, girl?" Vader spat, voice distorted by his mask, yet you could tell he was he was really putting the work in due to the increase of loud breathing through his module. You'd shake your head no in protest, but did you really mean that? Vader knew you all too well, after all he could read your emotions like an open book. You'd love to be given his child, but was it the right moment? "G'nna give you my baby.." he'd murmur, a moment of softness from the man, maybe a glimmer of his former self breaking through? But that would change when his hips slammed into you, earning a loud yelp from your lips when he hit your cervix with brutal force, "Please... I can't take it anymore. I-it's too much!" You'd whine and protest, yet you made no move to actually stop him. Your arousal was white at this point, bubbly from the amount of effort he's putting into fucking you into oblivion. It began to smear on the fabric of his pant garment, but he'd worry about making you clean that later. Vader basked in the sound of your pussy squelching, meant he was doing a good job keeping you aroused despite your constant need to protest him. The sounds of his respirator began to pick up, signs that he is close to his inevitable orgasm approaching quicker than anticipated. But that's what happens when you go days, even weeks without feeling your tight cunt wrapped around him.
It was time, time to do what he planned on all along. Vader wanted to see you swollen, plump with the product of his creation. This, this was a gift. At least that's how see saw it. He thought you should be greatful for what he is giving you, his child. Greedy bastard. Vader sped up his bucking hips, damn suit made it impossible to look graceful while fucking. His breath only slightly hitched as a warning. He blew his load, coating your walls in his cum. He promptly pulled away once he made sure you were full to the brim, holding your ankles, which were pinned painfully by your head as to not spill his seed he so graciously dumped into you. You'd whine, squirming slightly, "But I didn't-" and with that you were cut off, "You will have your time to finish, wife." And that was all. after he tucked himself back into his suffocating suit and wiped off what little he could of your combined fluids from his flaccid cock and trousers. Vader left you there, in your mess, that you'd have to clean. Though it was all a kink really, just a fantasy. He couldn't actually get you pregnant, completely sterile after being burnt here on Mustafar.
Oh how I love you Rain, this was waaaay longer than I anticipated on writing, so I do apologize for that. also I already have a burnt Vader fic in my master list if you want to check that out 🤭
