Justice Releases Futuristic “Generator” Music Video
The renowned French electronic pair, Justice, has unveiled a daring new video for "Generator," a track from their eagerly awaited album Hyperdrama, scheduled for release on April 26th through Ed Banger Records and Because Music. This video merges the concepts of human and machine, showcasing an intimate encounter between two robot-like beings, perfectly matching the song's fusion of disco and hardcore techno elements. As these robots peel away their layers to reveal their internal mechanics, Justice, alongside director Léa Ceheivi, delves into the exploration of sexuality in the digital era. "The idea was to echo a 2000s-era phenomenon like a sextape, but with a modern twist—capturing its raw aesthetic and unpredictability. So, in our narrative, AI robots too experience sex and the 'little death' of orgasm," shared Ceheivi. The official video can be viewed below: "Generator" was released alongside "One Night/All Night (starring Tame Impala)" last month, marking the announcement of "Hyperdrama," their first collection of new work in eight years. The release of "One Night/All Night" quickly demonstrated the strong demand for new Justice material, securing the top position on KCRW for two consecutive weeks and the #8 slot on Spotify’s Top Song Debut US chart. Furthermore, Justice is set to headline this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, introducing their new live performance setup for the first time. The festival is just one highlight in a year filled with scheduled performances, with more dates expected to be announced. Happy Birthday, Elliott: Editors (+ support Louis Arlette) at L’Autre Canal Nancy, FR, 25.04.2019
You know what is the downside to often going to free gigs? You might forget that there are actually ones you need a ticket for... And of course, I only realised I had forgotten them at home when we had already arrived in Nancy after a 1.5 hours drive. Panic! We managed to resolve the problem by having my eldest daugther take pictures of the tickets, send to us and then the barcode scanned from our smartphones at the entry, but until the last moment, we weren’t sure if that would work and I definitely could have done without all that stress!
Due to lack of time and constant rain, I only took very few pictures of the city (at Place Stanislas). Another item on my list of places to go (back) to.
When we parked the car close to the venue in the afternoon at around 4pm, there were already some people queueing. We had planned to be back an hour before entry, and didn’t even manage that 😳. Those who were there earlier had the advantage of standing under a roof, but luckily, we weren’t exposed to the rain for too long as entry started early and was surprisingly easy and fast, despite body checks. (It was the first time I saw women being controlled by male security – at the women’s choice, obviously, but in Germany / Luxembourg, that’s not even allowed? Or is it? Because I totally wouldn’t mind if it got me a front row spot 😜) We didn’t get to the front, but had a very decent (in the beginning, more on that later) spot in the 3rd/4th row on Russel’s side of the stage.
Editors were scheduled to play at the festival Musilac Mont-Blanc on Friday, 26th – day that got canceled due to a storm tearing down part of the equipment, so all the better for the band to have added two more dates in France and not traveled in vain. Support act for both gigs was Louis Arlette, a French singer-songwriter, sound engineer and producer. I had never heard of him before and I can’t tell how popular he is in his home country. While it was an unusually good light show for a support act, the music didn’t entirely convince me. I distinctly peferred the songs that resembled more the traditional chanson française, which is the style I think simply works best with the melody of the French language as such. I didn’t take any videos, but here’s Louis Arlette’s version of Jaquces Brel’s Je suis un soir d’été (I am a summer evening):
youtube
For once, I have reason to actually criticize Editors: they did not play Barricades 😭😭😭 No, two reasons, it was Elliott’s birthday and in spite of being told so by Tom, we weren’t allowed to sing Happy Birthday – the audience tried twice and was each time cut off by the band continuing with their set 😕
(my complete photo set can found here)
The beginning of the concert seemed a bit restrained from both sides, band and audience. But that changed soon enough and the usual high energy level was reached and kept till the very end. Taking decent photos was already difficult enough, so I decided to not even try videos. Luckily, my friend Susi aka RedLabel769 was more courageous:
youtube
As you can see, the crowd was really into it – alas, one guy close to us a bit too much. Having a good time at a concert is of course ok, but if you’re sort of the only one in a mosh pit, that might be a sign you’re exaggerating it. And while sweating is inevitable, leaving your shirt on DOES help reduce the smell... The security showed more patience than some people around him – at one point, a fist fight seemed to be imminent – and only removed him from the crowd shortly before the encore.
I had bought a ticket for Mel without asking her because I’m convinced that everyone who is into concerts must see Editors. It didn’t quite work the way I had hoped (maybe because the average Editors fan is „a few“ years older than her), but she was impressed by the length of the set and especially by the fact that Tom knew all the lyrics by heart 😂
Those French dates really came as a surprise a few months ago and I’m happy I had the chance to see a 4th gig of the Violence tour. A few more summer festivals, and then I guess it will be time to work on a new album? Hopefully, Barricades won’t be forgotten in the meantime and will become a part of future setlists.

THE STRAY CATS 40:
BRIAN SETZER, LEE ROCKER AND SLIM JIM PHANTOM
RETURN TO CELEBRATE THEIR 40TH ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR
WITH NEW ALBUM AND TOUR
ORIGINAL FOUNDING MEMBERS OF THE ACCLAIMED
AMERICAN ROCK AND ROLL TRIO SET OFF SPARKS ON '40,'
THEIR FIRST NEW ALBUM IN 26 YEARS
All revved up and red hot, The Stray Cats are back.
Brian Setzer (guitar, vocals), Lee Rocker (bass, vocals) and Slim Jim Phantom (drums, vocals)--original founding members of the iconic and acclaimed American rock and roll trio--are celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2019 with a new album and tour (*see tour dates below).
The STRAY CATS have titled the album 40. Marking their first new album in 26 years, it will be released May 24 via Surfdog Records and distributed by BMG (CD, vinyl, digital). The song titles alone--including "Cat Fight (Over A Dog Like Me)," "Rock It Off," "Mean Pickin' Mama" and "Devil Train"--instantly let listeners know they're in for a non-stop rocking time.
The first instant grat track, "Cat Fight (Over A Dog Like Me)," is available now with a pre-order of the album. The song is also streaming on Spotify. An exclusive indie-store edition of the album--colored vinyl, with a double-sided 24x12 poster--will arrive on May 24: http://smarturl.it/StrayCats
In addition, The STRAY CATS are releasing an exclusive 12" picture disc with three songs--"Cat Fight (Over A Dog Like Me), "When Nothing's Going Right" and "Rock It Off"--on April 13, Record Store Day.
The STRAY CATS begin their select U.S. dates on August 3 on the heels of June and July overseas shows. Tickets for the shows go on sale Friday, March 8 at 10:00 AM (local time).
The STRAY CATS recorded 40 at Blackbird Studios in Nashville in late 2018 following their first North American shows in 10 years, with four concerts including sold-out headlining shows in Las Vegas and the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa, CA before wildly enthusiastic audiences. Still buzzing from the thrill of playing together again and the crowd response, they went into the studio with producer Peter Collins (Rush, Bon Jovi, The Brian Setzer Orchestra) and engineer Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton, Arctic Monkeys). There are a dozen original songs that comprise the album.
Here's what the guys have to say:
Brian Setzer: "You have to understand how unique the Stray Cats are. It's me playing an old hollow body guitar, Slim Jim playing two or three drums, and Lee Rocker slapping a stand-up acoustic bass. I get to write new songs and then play them with my buddies. Somehow we created a new and exciting sound with this simple idea. And you know what? A lot of people agree!"
Lee Rocker: "This new album really feels like the first record we did, it's really natural and comfortable. For the recording, we went live--like doing a gig, we recorded in a real, organic way. We were all in one room standing next to each other recording live, with the amps turned up to 10, it captured the undefinable things that happen when a band is great, it captured the magic that takes place and an undefined spark."
Slim Jim Phantom: "We're very, very focused when we get into the studio, it didn't feel like a long time had passed since we had done this, it felt very natural and familiar. We were all in a row with everyone watching each other, so it felt like a gig in the set-up. We really embraced that a little bit for the album, it's like an old way of making records. The modern is meeting the vintage, which has always been our inspiration."

About The STRAY CATS:
The STRAY CATS, the band that put Rockabilly music back on the record charts in the early '80s, scored several big hits on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to a striking visual 1950's style brought "up to date" with exaggerated pompadours and colorful tattoos and as well as genuine musical chops that evoked the best players of rockabilly's original heyday. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Brian Setzer, upright bass player Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom in the Long Island town of Massapequa, NY, in 1979, the trio shared a love for Rockabilly music. After banging around New York for a few months, in the summer of 1980, and seeing a pompadoured kid on the cover of UK magazine NME, they hopped a plane to London where a rockabilly revival movement was just beginning to emerge. Their massive hits and videos include "Runaway Boys," "Rock This Town," "Stray Cat Strut" "(She's) Sexy + 17," and "I Won't Stand in Your Way."

HOMETOWN SMILE
Puis La France Avec D’abord Solidays,À Paris Fin Juin,
Suivi De Main Square À Arras 1er Sem De Juillet,
Puis Des Francofolies À La Rochelle 4 Jours 2nd Sem Juillet,
