A feminine voice rang in Maine's ears as he found himself looking into a meeting room of sorts. The source of the voice drifted before shutting itself up quickly upon realizing there was something unfamiliar within the room.

"What is that?" She pointed towards the peering head and the fifty or so occupants of the room turned to look over at Maine. Each of which had varying degrees of surprise.

“…” Maine stared back at them, “…We’ve been trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty—”

Virginia swiftly dragged Maine back out of the hole, “What are you doing?”

“I panicked,” Maine admitted, “There’s a group of people on the other side, I wasn’t prepared for it.”

“A group of…?” Virginia peaked through the inter-dimensional void, “…Hm.”

“…Should I say ‘hi’?”

“Well—”

“I’m saying ‘hi,’” Maine poked his head back through the hole, “Hello! Good morning. Or afternoon. Or evening. Or night. Whatever time it is at your place.”

Virginia huffed behind him, crossing her arms, “Well, at least be polite and introduce yourself.”

“Ah. Right,” Maine gave Ginny a quick nod.

He turned his attention back to the alternate universe.

“My name’s Maine,” He added, “So, uh… Did you poke a hole through reality, or…? What is this whole ‘rip’ thing?”

AU ideas that are potentially crack or cursed:

Jason ends up in a dimension where most things are similar/the same except the Joker is just some minor villain with a gimmick and about the same threat level as condiment king. All the bats there are trying to support him as he deals with this trauma but also they’re all really confused that such a large part of his trauma stems from that guy.

Mumble mumble magic something and Batman is gone, except Bruce is still there. It just stripped him of his Batman-ness and everyone is left with Brucie Wayne. 24/7 Brucie Wayne. Who knows nothing about Batman and doesn’t see why he should bother “fixing” whatever this is. Also Brucie’s a great parent and so many people are having a crisis now.

Batman’s kids keep getting lantern rings and/or magical superpowers and he would like it to please stop.

Ra’s Al Ghul is now the magically-assigned guardian of the champion of magic. His continued existence rests on his ability to be a good parental figure to Billy Batson so he’s speed running his be-a-good-person redemption montage.

A member of the JL (not a bat) accidentally time travels and accidentally-on-purpose saves this little family in an alley that were about to get shot. Takes about ten minutes to realize they just saved Batman’s parents. But surely this will all be just fine.

Jason dies (again) and re-emerges from the pit, only to find that he’s in the body of Ra’s Al Ghul and Talia is like two, which means that Bruce is also just a kid.

Batman goes back in time to try and fix all his mistakes except he accidentally brought all his kids with him and none of them appreciate the sudden de-aging.

let me cook. picture me this.

we're about 12-14 months into hermitcraft season X and people's seasons are starting to wind down. finishing touches on megabuilds, games are being played and episodes are mostly spent with the hermits just screwing around for fun, (snails, gigacorp, cleos story for their base, etc. are all wrapping up)

however, one thing that has been prevalent throughout the entire season, so much more so than seasons' past, was the fact it seemed it was always raining. not just little in-game showers that lasted maybe 20 minutes no, i'm talking rain that would last hours, days even! and this has been very notable with multiple hermits addressing it in their videos and not being able to get around filming during the times when the sun was out, because it never lasted too long.

anyways, this doesn't matter that much, and many hermits learn to enjoy the rain! gem's trident shop ends up selling out quick as people realize riptide 3 tridents are much more efficient for elytra travel compared to rockets, and with the right shader packs many are able to make their videos more atmospheric and ✨aesthetic✨. so overall, the rain isn't a huge issue, just a minor inconvenience.

until the river starts flooding.

it's inconspicuous at first. very few hermits have builds that are right at sea-level so even fewer even notice any huge change. plus, the water only rose by one block so who cares. days pass by, then a couple weeks, no change, no worries. then it rises again. again, only by a block, but now the waves are starting to lap at the foundation of some houses, shorelines and property-lines becoming closer to being one and the same. now, while not too fussed, some hermits are starting to become slightly paranoid about the water.

the next water rise comes quickly, mere days after the last. still one block but now the hermits are taking quick notice. the race to high ground is swift, many building new bases on nearby mountains, other more dedicated hermits moving their entire bases up onto stilts to avoid their beautiful builds being drowned by the ever-expanding ocean deep. and the water keeps rising.

redstone farms are destroyed, the shopping district has become a capitalistic lost city of atlantis, grian and gem are unsurprisingly thriving in their new aquatic environment. the only safe dry areas are the nether and the end, because how would you flood the void.

we've reached the near end of the season, the sea expanding out for thousands of miles, as far as the eye can see, with the tops of mountains having become islands, sanctuaries from the deep unknown blue of the ocean. grian, gem, impulse, skizz, scar, joel and mumbo all sit on what used to be magic mountain, now just a few blocks above sea-level, looking out across the endless ocean skyline through the near eternal rainstorm.

"grian," mumbo begins. "yes?" grian sighs, tired and weather-beaten from the endless downpour.

"is the ocean big?"

The speaker paused for a moment as she took this information in. Her eyes widened for a moment as a sudden realization came to mind.

"Really?" An amused huff slipped past her lips as she stood straight and began to walk towards the portal. The closer she got, the more Maine could notice things about her outfit that weren't easily recognizable from afar. One of these things came in the form of a pin placed underneath a name tag. "Well...my name's Mae." Her steps came to a halt once she stood face-to-face with Maine. One of her hands reached up to point at the pin. The contents of which was revealed to be a state flag. "And I also happen to be a personification of the pine tree state." She smiled widely as she spoke.

Maine’s eyes widened, whispers from the other states swirling behind him.

“Wait,” He furrowed his brow, unable to wrap his mind around the idea, “…How—?”

Wisconsin gasped nearby, “Twinsies!”

Maine spared her a quick glance before looking back at the portal, “…Can we both be—?”

“Not really,” Nebraska frowned.

Ignoring Neb, Maine continued, “The personification of the same—?”

“She’s not as ugly as him,” New York agreed.

Maine glared back at him. New York feigned an innocent look. Wasn’t really convincing, especially since NY was flipping him off.

Taking a deep breath, Maine turned back to the portal. Fine. He’ll just rush out what he wants to say before the others could interject.

“How-can-we-both-be-the-personifcation-of-the-s—”

“You two should fight to the death,” Hawaii cut in.

“…” Maine mutely looked up to the ceiling; taking a moment before he glanced back to the islands.

“…This feels like a loaded question,” He started carefully, “But: …What?”

She shrugged nonchalantly, “There can only be one. My money’s on her.”

“Why—?”

“Quite frankly, I already like her better,” Hawaii joked.

Making a mental note to change nationalities one day to escape these people, Maine turned his attention back to Mae.

“How is that possible?” Maine asked, intrigued, “How can we both be the personifications of the same state?”
