Wrote a little fic with Apollo and Will that's been playing on my mind since I wrote a post about a scene that I really just had to write out. In it, I've also used my headcanon that Will's real name is Fitzwilliam, something I got from MsMay in their fic Courting Death. A great fic btw

My dad finally acts like a real dad (ao3 link)

Summary: Will is sad about missing out on the regular teenager experience of parent teacher interviews, something normal compared to everything else he goes through, since his mum had to go do something for her work. But luckily for him, his mother is not the only parent he has.

Look.

Will understood.

No, really. He understood.

His mother was a famous singer. She did her absolute best to be there for him, to try and be a normal parent and do normal parent things. Especially as his other parent was a God, which was as far from normal you could get. She tried, but sometimes it just didn't work out and she had to go in. Something about a song lyric not working.

But sometimes, he just wished it could be different.

He buried himself under a blanket on his couch, and grabbed the remote. There's gotta be something on at this time, right. Something to take his mind off it all.

And really, why does he have to be so upset about this anyway, it's not like he doesn't know other kids wouldn't be wishing to be in his position right now. Who wouldn't love to miss parent teacher interviews and not have their parent or parents know about all their bad grades at school.

But. It's normal. It's a normal thing kids his age get to go through and is it so bad for him to wish he gets to experience at least one normal thing like them? Something so different compared to the wars he's gone through, the heavily injured bodies he's had to repair at way to young an age.

But. Like he said. He gets it.

He might not be happy about it but he gets it. And his mum promised him pizza and a movie when she gets home anyway. So at least there's that to look forward to.

Will turns on the TV and flicks through the channels, hoping to find a show to watch, maybe even something his siblings mentioned.

It's as Will finally finds a show that the front door bangs open and a familiar male voice shouts out, "Come on Will, we're going to be late!"

"Dad?" Will calls out in confusion, why would his father be here and what does he mean 'late'?

His father comes into the lounge room dressed in suit pants and a buttoned up shirt with a tie, he had a matching suit jacket over his arm and was aged the oldest Will had ever seen him. He actually looked old enough to be his father.

"Come on Fitzwilliam, up you get!"

Will cringed at the use of his full name, why did his mum have to be such a fan of Pride and Prejudice?

"Dad," Will said, looking at his father from the couch, "not that I'm not happy to see you, don't get me wrong, but why are you here? And what do you mean we'll be late?"

His father puts his free hand on his hip, "isn't it your parent teacher interview night?"

"Yeah," Will said, "but mum's not here, so I'm not going?"

His father rolled his golden eyes, "of course you're going," he said, "I'm here to take you. It's an important part of your schooling, to see where you're doing well and where you need to improve."

"You're taking me?" Will asked half up from the couch.

"Sure am Will, now go get ready, I don't want to be late."

"What about mum? Does she know?"

"You're mother knows," his father assures him, "now go put on a better shirt and pants. We can't go see your teachers looking like that."

Will doesn't even hide his beaming smile his mum tells him he gets from his father as he runs to his room to get ready. He's got parent teacher interviews to get to.

Later, when Will sits in a chair next to his father and listens to his English teacher as she talks about how his grades are low and how he doesn't seem to even try, he understands a bit better why the other kids in school hate these days.

But, turning to his father and seeing him get visibly angry. How his golden eyes, definitely hidden by the mist, burn with fury at his teacher. How his father goes to then defend him to the teacher, how he isn't lazy, that he is a very intelligent boy and absolutely always does his best.

He can't find himself to be that upset, afterall he gets to see his father act like a normal dad. And it's the best thing ever.

Ahhh this is is gonna be lengthy, lol. I have over 100 tddk fics bookmarked, but i’ll give you my top ten. They are in no particular order but all of them are the ones i find myself re-reading regularly because they are just so amazing and dear to my heart *touches chest*

1. The beauty of futility by wbtrashking (fan_nerd) • Tddk ft. baby Eri. I never seem to be able to shut up about this fic, and I’m usually always rec-ing it in twitter at any given chance just beacause it’s so good and relatable to me. Give me fics with protags being 30+ and still struggling to find their place in life, in need to be reminded that they are always worthy of happiness and love, and i’ll eat that without blinking!!

2. teach me your language of love by ArgetCross • omg this fiC!!!!! if izuku was ever to reveal shouto everything about OFA, this is exactly how i’d like it to be!! ((this fic is canon in my heart)). I love how much they support and value each other and this fic is just a terrific portrayal of them baby-stepping into love *aggressively clenches chest*!!

3. saltwater room by reapers • fake/pretend relationship done RIGHT!!! The last chapter is worth all the drama. Not like everything else is bad!! but just to reiterate that you do end up feeling satisfied on an spiritual level after finishing reading.

4. begin again, begin again by aknightley • the scooby doo au you never knew you needed but you end up wishing there was more of!!! like srly!!!! I wish the author wrote a continuation or a series out of this au *tear*

5. Serendipity by theroyalsavage • stardust au!! what else can i say but STUNNING, BEAUTIFUL, PERFECT, BREATHTAKING!!! This fic is everything what dreams are made of!!!

6. Out of Time (Out of Place) by ladyhoneydarlinglove • halloween au, featuring vampire todoroki in denial until is too late- but not really. This fic is ethereal and angsty but with the happiest of endings and who doesn’t like that!! Also the writing here is just *chef kiss*

7. Spark by MsMay • Shouto struggling with feelings and ending up getting the happiness he deserves (honestly that’s everything i always want to find in tddk fics). THIS ONE IS SO GOOD!!! it ignites my soul!!!

8. It’s exactly what it looks like by CrzA • this fic was a ride in the best way possible. and it made me laugh so hard!! izuku and shouto are the best dorks in every way possible in this fic.

9. Conventional Taste by WowBoring • This fic is so cool!!!! shouto goes with izuku to a hero con and pining and other fanboy-related shenanigans ensues. The writing here is unreal!!! 45k words and you don’t even feel them pass by. What a fantastic fic.

10. Duet in E♭ by Shegry • Just by thinking in this fic makes me weak in the knees!!! everything falls together so well *sobs into hands*. it’s super cute and everything you’d like any musician au to be like.

I saw you read midnight doesnt last forever, which is one of my top favorite solangelo fics! But I recently read a fic called courting death by msmay which has become my #1 fave. It has everything I wish canon had, and is pretty will-centric but treats all the characters right. I'm curious to know if you've read it too?

Thank you so much for liking my blog, this makes me super happy! Okay, I’ve got two asks about this so I’ll make this one about tododeku and the next one about kiribaku (kiribaku is just so full of gems, I died) because otherwise, I think it’s gonna be too long of a post xD And I think they both deserve their own, I love them too much.

So tododeku… my precious babies… I think that’s the only ship where all of my favorite fics are in their canon environment (it’s probably bc we’re just thirsty for canon shit, we’re so poor I cry), so yeah, no AUs here.

1. count your blessings, not your flaws by PitViperOfDoom (I think I’ve mentioned this one a lot already haha; misunderstandings, angst with a happy ending, 110% will make you cry, because it just basically explains why they both need each other, it’s not only about how Todoroki feels safe about saying what he feels when he’s with Midoriya, but also mainly from the rare point of view of Izuki angst where he doesn’t really believe that somebody amazing could possibly love him, I seriously think this fic could swing many people to this ship, because if that “I’m just having trouble understanding…[spoiler]” didn’t make your heart flatter it must be wooden lolz).

2. Everything Except by Pouler (poulerslashes) (it’s classic: villain quirk made them horny and they couldn’t resist each other, how do you stay friends after that, what if both wanted to be more for a long time but afraid to say anything, and was the nature of the quirk really what they thought it was..? basically them being idiots in love who just wanted each other for too long; I mean, who doesn’t like such plot?! come fight me!).

3. home is just a room full of my safest sounds by aloneintherain (sharing a bed trope, Todoroki can’t sleep in his room, because it reminds him of home, Midoriya refuses to sleep and works too hard to keep up with his power; trying to help each other they find comfort into just being close to each other on a tiny bed, but one sleepover leads to another, little space leads to “you’re my cuddle bear” and suddenly it becomes a routine; or “everybody thought they were dating except for them”… because they’re idiots, you know

4. Spark by MsMay (Todoroki has been in love with Midoriya for a long time and when Izuku asks Shouto to be partners with him helping All Might he easily agrees, after near death situation during their job and blurted feelings Midoriya suddenly kisses him, which leads to Todoroki loosing control of his quirk and accidentally burning Izuku’s neck; aka all the insecurities and self-loathing of Shouto are here and how Midoriya won’t let him run away).

5. Burn and Breathe by PitViperOfDoom (soulmates AU where they can feel each others pain; they both forgot what it’s like not to feel it, Endeviour’s training clashes with school abuse, one doesn’t want to have a soulmate, another wants to protect his at all cost; Midoriya’s “I’m sorry I’m not there. I’ll find you and it’ll be okay then, I promise.Maybe they wouldn’t hurt us if there were two of us together.” is just too much for me, I suggest bringing tons of tissues for this).

6. two sided feeling by sunflowerfaun (getting together fic, set after the festival; they both don’t understand that they’re in love and can’t place the ‘can’t get you out of my head’ feeling; that’s like everything u wanted about Midoriya touching and kissing Todoroki’s scar and making Shouto lose it, itty bitty angst bc they just don’t get it as always; also the wonderful moment where Midoriya made Todoroki combust at the end lol).

7. Whisper In My Ear by livinglittlelie (Midoriya discovers a kink for Todoroki touching his ears, after Shouto accidentally brushed it while picking up the leaf out of Izuku’s hair, it gets worse after him whispering to Midoriya during their mission, soon all he can think about is Todoroki’s lips on his earlobe; little did he know that Todoroki is happy to oblige hehe, trapped in a closet trope yay).

8. Adrenaline rush by NohaIjiachi (established relationships; Midoriya has side effects after using his power aka high sex drive, afraid of being too needy and not wanting to annoy his boyfriend he tries to handle it himself, but it doesn’t help, which leads to him breaking and asking Shouto for help. Embarrassed, he thinks it would push him away, but Todoroki takes care of his boy really good.. in fact he wants to take care of him all the time ;) p.s. do not read if you have problems with dirty talk :D)

Once again, I didn’t include pure PWP and fluffy shots, because it would be endless list then so that’s it for now. Hope, you’ll enjoy these!

Listen.  I KNOW i rave about this fic a lot. It’s my favorite fic ever in the world. But if you want some quality William backstory with amazing Solangelo development, check out Courting Death by MsMay. Read it. Fall in love with it. Review it and message me about it so we can rave about it together, it’s amazing I promise. The latest chapter made me (๑>ᴗ<๑) Anyways here’s some Will backstory with a hefty addition of OCs.

- William Fitzgerald Solace rolls into Camp Half-Blood at the tender age of say 11.

- After just finishing Harry Potter and being sEVERELY disappointed by the lack of Hogwarts letter (Hufflepuff for life) this is the coolest thing ever

- It’s….pretty obvs he’s a sunshine boy. He looks just like apollo, radiates actual sunshine when he smiles, etc.

- Still, it takes him a few days to be formally claimed. Apollo’s a self-proclaimed busy guy, kay? And the Hermes cabin isn’t that bad for those first few days. Even if he does have to keep a tight arm around his single backpack full of items, it’s alright, and it’s where he meets Cecil. 

- Cecil and him become fast friends after Cecil offers to, and actually does, steal a few warm pops and candy bars from the camp store for them to eat on the beach. 

- And yeah, a few hundred miles from his mother and the few friends he left behind, curled in an unfamiliar, temporary mattress, he really needed that friendship.  To this day, he and Cecil are great friends. 

- Anyways, after he’s claimed he heads over to the solid gold cabin, claims an empty bunk and meets his siblings.

- They’re all nice and extremely welcoming - Elenor’s the oldest and the counselor, Lee’s her second-in-command and head of the infirmary, Michael’s a bit too sarcastic and angsty for a pre-teen, Victoria smiles at him and shows him how to sacrifice half his breakfast to their father. There’s a few younger then him too - Hina, by a few months, and who won’t stop sizing him up (Elenor warns him with a grin that she’ll probably try luring him into a sparring match) Kayla, at ten, who immediately runs in for a hug the moment the claiming symbol fades from the sky.

- And then he discovers the infirmary. (more like dragged into but eh. Michael needed help and Will was on the only one of his siblings not yet put off by the busy, sterile room.)

- It’s busy and messy and slightly chaotic from the intercabin civil war the Ares cabin got in earlier that morning. Lee’s barely got a hold on his patients, nearly all the beds are full, and Will’s got moon-eyes the size of drachmas.

- That’s when he decides that one day he’s going to be head of the infirmary.

- (this one day comes a lot sooner than he ever wanted.)

Summary: Mar'i Grayson meets her father's side of her family for the first time. It's Bruce's annual memorial for his departed parents, so the whole bat clan is there to welcome the newest addition to their family. Mar'i experiences a lot of firsts. Bruce Wayne experiences a couple too.

Mar’i Grayson arrives in the Wayne manor for the first time in her life, and is dazzled by the lights. Her papa has a habit of keeping the lights off when Mama’s not home. Really, he doesn’t like the dark, he just forgets. Years have taught him how to see in the dark, and Mar’i is a baby so really, she can’t complain either way. But Wayne manor is bright! All the chandeliers above are bright and pretty and sparkle. Mar’i wants to play with them, but her father holds her tight.

“Oh no you don’t, you little munchkin,” her papa says. He blows a raspberry on her tummy, which throws her into a fit of giggles and distracts her for the moment.

“I see she takes after Starfire,” says an elegant boy, with bright blue eyes.

“I was really hoping her powers wouldn’t manifest until she hit puberty, but she’s been flying ever since she first learned to crawl,” Papa says. Mar’i marvels at this person, reaching out towards him. He startles at her grabby little fingers. “She wants you to hold her,” Papa says, trying to hold her back as she wriggles in his arms.

“Dick, I’m not sure-” he starts. He looks absolutely helpless when Papa puts her right into his arms.

“No, support her head Tim.” Papa maneuvers the elegant boy’s arms until Mar’i is comfortable, which is good. She’s a finicky baby, she was about five seconds away from crying up a storm. Instead she reaches up for his face, and feels along it’s elegant places. Mar’i likes his face. It’s not round and warm and dark like Mama’s, but the smooth whiteness of his skin is still pretty. His eyes are heavy though. She pokes at the purple bit underneath. Her Papa has those sometimes. “Aw look at that, she loves her Uncle Tim.”  

Uncle Tim does something funny with his mouth, a wobbly little spurt, like he doesn’t understand how this is even happening.

“I want to hold her!” says a bright young girl, exploding in a surprise right next to Mar’i’s head. Mar’i startles, and starts to tear up.

“Oh god, oh god, Dick she’s going to cry what do I do?” Uncle Tim asks. His face contorts, and that doesn’t help Mar’i. Then a pair of big hands scoop her up out of Tim’s arms, and she’s met with a new, rougher looking face. The set of his jaw is hard, but his eyes are bright with mirth.

“Aw, c’mon you little troglodyte, don’t go cryin’ on us now,” he says in that pleasant and soothing baby voice that is really more babble than words. Mar’i misses something, a look between the adults. It makes this new man hum, and the pleasant rumble of his voice soothes Mar’i a little. “Roy has Lian, remember?” he says after a bit. “Seems like everyone in the gang has a kid.”

“Jason-” her Papa starts.

“Everyone to the table, please,” says a grey man in a dapper black suit. His hair is grey, his mustache is grey, Mar’i is fairly certain his eyes are grey, but they twinkle with a myriad of light that makes Mar’i giggle. Uncle Jason hands Mar’i back to her father, and then runs off to bicker with the bright young girl over whose spot is whose.
