It's an interesting change from the graphic novel because in that it's implied that the knights are orphans in the city. So in the movie, the classism keeps people like Ballister from the knights because they are elite: it tastes of eugenics with the idea that knightly qualities are in the blood or DNA. And then in the novel, the kids that no one wants are forced into defense/war so they can be "useful". This is far more reminiscent of the modern structure to police and military members coming from a lower class to protect higher classes wealth and interests. It doesn't matter of they die because there are more where they came from. But in the movie, the elite are overprotective of their city (to the point where no one has seen a monster is thousands of years) because things are limited. It's also why the Director is willing to kill civilians to protect the city because then the elites will still be safe, who cares that a few povos die in the battle.
i feel like we should talk about the classism also portrayed in Nimona
like the whole thing of ballister not being of noble blood, him being a street kid?
ofc there’s the homophobia/transphobia aspect but i haven’t really seen anyone talk about the classism in it
the director literally claims that the start of the “crack in the wall” is the queen giving ballister a chance to prove himself and become a knight
she is fully blaming the prospect of giving non-noble lower class people a chance to become knights as a catalyst for the opportunity for “monsters” to invade or whatever
the queen letting ballister train to be a knight, and her wanting to allow anyone (aka ‘commoners’) to do the same? giving underprivileged people the same opportunities as those that are privileged? and the director finding that so “wrong” or offensive that she literally kills her??

What would you guys consider the worst movie you've ever seen? Not something that's fun to make fun of, nothing you ironically enjoyed, I mean just an absolutely miserable moviegoing experience that you paid for, hated every second, and wish you had walked out of and asked for a refund.
For me, no joke, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. It did not even feel like a real movie to me. It made me see red! I was SEETHING with anger and annoyance throughout the entire thing, and I cannot for the life of me articulate why. I saw it once in 2012 when I was 15, I remember almost nothing about it now, but it struck a nerve with me like no other movie ever has before or since.
Tell me in the tags, which movie makes you disproportionately angry just thinking about it?
