They are filled with witches who determine fate and such, and their familiars and other beings and also a dragon, cause of course theres a dragon theres bound to be one. and you notice how glinda literally doesn't touch her before ozdust. like everyone moves away from elphaba as though she has this aura around her that physically pushes people away, and glinda is no exception. glinda never once puts her hands on elphaba until ozdust, and we can be so sure she is one of the only people ever to do so, to reach out and dare to caress her.

you noticed how Glinda doesn't really let go of Elphaba basically from the Ozdust scene on and she's basically always holding Elphaba's hand or hanging onto her arm, even when its physically awkward to be doing so. and even during Defying Gravity after its clear that Glinda isn't going with Elphaba, they're still holding hands right up until the point where Glinda is grabbed by a guard and forcible pulled away from Elphaba

the ozdust ballroom scene makes me crazy because it is, debatably of course, the only time in the whole story that glinda acts entirely selflessly. it is the only time her kindness isn't self-serving, attention-seeking, or to get ahead. in fact, she chooses kindness at a detriment to herself--making herself look foolish and laughable in front of every single person she wants to continue being worshipped by. she risks her own social standing to dance with the freak girl in the ugly hat who she hates. she does this for no reason other than it is the right thing to do.

you could argue that her charisma is enough, that she knows her charisma is enough, that she can make anything look stylish, likable, trendy. that she can do the exact same things as elphaba and that she will always be praised for her uniqueness while elphaba will be shunned. but that is its own, separate conversation that makes me insane for its own reasons. there is no reading of that scene that doesn't kill me fully dead.
