Witches of the Wind

After recently rewatching Wicked this week, I thought I might as well contribute to the series while we wait for Wicked: For Good this November.

So here's my attempt at an AU idea where Elphaba arrives at Munchkinland before Glinda does and takes Dorothy under her wing as her magical apprentice.

(I also based Dorothy's design here after John R. Neill's illustrations of the character, to help differentiate from the designs of other versions.)

In honor of our very first sneak peek of the movie Wicked, my nostalgia kicked into high gear and I'm honoring one of my earliest fandom crazes with a silly little comic I'm calling "Fiyero Doesn't Get Enough Recognition For All The Shit He's Been Through."

That’s the way it happened, your honor

Male! Glinda x Dorothy's mother! Reader

"Glind?" You ask in confusion, as you look at the good wizard of the south, while your hands are placed on Dorothy, your daughter's shoulders.

"When Dorothy spoke about you, I never imagined that you would be her mother."

"You both know each other?" Dorothy asks in shock.

Glind gives a small, nervous laugh, twirling his wand in his hand, his usual composure slightly faltering.

Her eyes flicker between you and Dorothy.

"Oh, we... we knew each other, long ago, your mother and I went to university together, though I dare say we were more than friends."

Your eyebrows arch, uneasiness creeping into your expression.

"That's one way to put it," you mutter, your grip on Dorothy's shoulders tightening as the memories flood back.

Glind had been the golden star, dazzling everyone at Shiz University, while you had been more reserved, preferring quiet corners and a life outside the spotlight.

You were originally from Kansas but found yourself transported to the land of Oz after an accident.

The Wizard Oz took you in and offered to help you after you told him your situation, he enrolled you into the university of Shiz.

And that's where you met Glind and also Elphabe who had a unique skin colour along with strong powers.

The wicked wizard of the West used to be your friend.

But Glind told Elphabe that you don't want to be his friend anymore after you two got engaged and soon to be wed.

And thanks to Glind's possessive narcissistic attitude, he ruined this friendship.

So, you asked Oz to return back to your homeland just to escape marrying Glind, and he granted you that.

Now that you are back here, you just want to take your daughter and leave.

"Thank you for helping my daughter, but I think we should leave now."

"Wait a second."

Glind speaks, his wand tapping against his palm.

"We have some catching up to do," he says brightly, though his voice carries a hint of coldness

"Dorothy, darling, why don’t you go check on Toto? I’m sure he’s getting into trouble somewhere. Your mother and I, need to have a little... chat."

Your daughter's eyes widened before rushing to search for Toto, leaving you alone with the light-haired Wizard.

Glind moves towards you before grabbing your arms tightly.

"Is Dorothy my daughter?"

I still think it's super cool that Dorothy was "defeated" by using the most perfect possible match up against her: A Reasonable And Sensible Person That Knows How To Converse, Olivia Silence.

Because, look, Dorothy is kinda extremely fucked up powerful. She's the equivalent of an Archmage on steroids in any fantasy setting. With just the ambient dust she had in her lab and her vibration Arts, she slowed down a crossbow bolt fired at her to a standstill midair, then gently touched its metal tip with a finger, and shredded the metal altogether into nothingness. If she's doing that to Terran metal, imagine what she can do to your flesh, let alone to your flesh if she actually means to harm you instead of merely, gently and politely defending herself.

Luckily for everyone involved, 1) Dorothy explicitly does NOT want to harm anyone, even in self defense, and 2) Silence explicitly does NOT want to fight Dorothy if she can help it, not because Dorothy is Jerboa Broly, but because Silence does believe in having a talk with people first and foremost, which wouldn't have worked on basically any other event antagonist so far, EXCEPT Dorothy, who is not really susceptible to having her ass kicked but IS very open to the idea that she might be wrong about certain things, such as creating a mind-world assimilation extracorporal singularity that can absorb human consciousness and put them in a well meaning but ultimately misguided virtual paradise for the rest of forever, on a world scale.

I guess what I am really trying to say is that we should never have Dorothy and Arturia in the same room. That could actually no joke be an apocalypse situation, which is funny to think of because Dorothy is the most pleasant person ever and a very sincerely loving and kind person, she just happens to have world-ending potential.

I want a version of Wicked which is also the Wizard of Oz,like Dorothy and the rest of the gang still go on their adventure but the whole time Scarecrow/Fiyero is like "I wish my ex and my other ex didn't start this whole conflict Dorothy" and Dorothy is like 11 years old, dealing with the soap opera drama of this polycule and Tin man/Boq isn't making this any better by being an incel.

But yeah :)c Fiyero has some complicated feelings about how Dorothy left Shiz - aka he hates that he wasn't able to protect her like he promised, and shortly after all of that, Elphaba was labeled as public enemy number one after the two of them had a rather nasty confrontation.

Yeah Act 2 in this AU gets very chaotic. Very fast :> Hopefully the "brainless" man can keep up

Hey ever notice how . . . deliberate the melting scene is in the 1939 movie?

I mean, think about it. Who was the one leading the charge the entire time? The Scarecrow. Who seemed to know exactly where to go? The Scarecrow. And who led them into a corner where there just happened to be a convenient bucket of water, the one thing that supposedly can kill the Wicked Witch?

The Scarecrow.

And who oh-so-conveniently put out their arm for Elphaba to light on fire and then position himself just right so that when Dorothy put out the fire, she would also splash the Witch?

The Scarecrow.

You cannot convince me this whole thing wasn't planned from start to finish. It makes too much sense! Albeit I'm sure Fiyero had severe reservations about this whole damn thing.

But hey, it worked pretty perfectly.
