tired of brain going off in random meaningless word association directions and that being what comes out of my mouth not the things i wanna say
#idk what fucking flavor of brainweird that is but its been getting worse lately and its bad bad bad#its a little less intense with symbols aac and when it happens its more looking at words than saying them but its still...annoying#happens about the same with typing as mouthwords but its easier to not hit send when typing than stop my mouth

Sibling fight in the background.@ask-the-spheros-brothers and @autumn2art
⚠Warning, verbal and physical violence content.⚠
(Before we start, I'll give a little context. Cedrick got into a fight with another kid who was bullying him and ended up hurt and punished. Therefore Stratos fights with his brother since it was Betrayus who incited his nephew.)
"Riiiiiiing!"
The phone in the round house rang. The butler answered.
Buttler "Hello?… Oh.." Buttler walked to Stratos' office and handed him the phone, buttler trembled a little but walked away so as not to see Mr. Stratos' reaction.
Stratos "OH, hello Madam Director. My son did what?" Stratos became distressed and at the same time upset. He couldn't believe what he heard.
Bodyguard "Should I get the car ready?" he asked worriedly.
Stratos turned his gaze shaking his head up and down outside. After a few hours they arrived at the round house. Cedrick had arrived with bruises and tears in his eyes. Stratos gave a long sigh and shouted.
"BETRAYUS GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!" He called out to him.
Betrayus "Now what?" He asked coming down the stairs from his room, wanting to know about the situation.
Stratos looked at him with disappointment and anger. "Why are you teaching my son about violence!?" He complained.
Betrayus "Now what happened!?" He said surprised without understanding much about the subject.
Stratos "A few hours ago they called me from his school, he got into a fight with another kid. And he was so badly injured that Cedrick was suspended for a week. Now the father of that other kid is very angry with me and I don't know how to explain it to him. I know you have something to do with it!" He explained angrily, while showing him Cedrick's report.
Betrayus "NOW IT'S MY FAULT!?"
Stratos "YES"
Betrayus "THE CHILD WAS JUST DEFENDING HIMSELF FROM THAT BULLY! IN ADDITION, THEY'VE BEEN BULLYING HIM AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO PAY ATTENTION TO HIM!" He answers raising his voice.
Stratos "I could have solved it peacefully!"
Betrayus "It wouldn't have been of any use!" He answers turning his back and crossing his arms.
Stratos "YOU WERE THE SAME WHEN YOU WERE 12 AND 14! YOU RECEIVED A LOT OF REPORTS FOR BAD CONDUCT, AND NOW YOU GIVE BAD ADVICE TO MY SON FOR YOUR IDIOTIC THINGS!" He scolds with a red face.
Betrayus "IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS DEFENDING MYSELF FROM THOSE FUCKING MORONS!" He answers with an angry voice.
Stratos "BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR MOUTHWORD! THE BOY IS NEARBY!" He points.
Betrayus "AT LEAST YOU KNOW WHAT THEY WERE CALLING POOR CEDRICK!" He turns around still upset.
Stratos "YES, HE TOLD ME THE WORD FREAK!" He answers raising his index finger.
Betaryus "DON'T EVER SAY THAT IN FRONT OF ME!" He yells at his brother.
Stratos "THIS IS DIFFERENT WITH YOU AND HIM!" He responds again furiously.
Betrayus "EVERY TIME THEY SAY THAT MY BLOOD BOILS!" With a half-broken voice. Quickly the bracelet did its job with betrayus and gave him a shock after detecting a sign of impulse of violence, he let out a moan. "Shit…" Wanting to endure the pain.
Stratos "Did you complain of pain?" he asked looking at the bracelet.
Betrayus "Just… just leave me alone…" He answers rubbing his wrist.
Stratos "Fine. But don't give Cedrick that advice again, I've already had a very stressful day." He calmed down but was still upset with his brother.
"Togepi?..." The pokemon petted his trainer because he was hurt. Cedrick didn't want to say anything, and forget everything that happened that day. All he did was pick up Togepi and go to his room but "Freak's" words still rang in his mind.

today we mostly used our talker with some gestures and very minimal mouthwords and everyone was so so good about it. professor got after us for using laptop but didn't mention talker. friends waited for us to type and asked to repeat when didn't understand instead of ignored. classmates we've never talked to before included us in groupwork and didn't say anything about talker!!!
#rambling#AAC tag#neighbour who has never seen us use AAC before didn't make any comments about us just gesturing and not speaking!!!!

I am not going to publish an ask that included a word that is ableist. However, it asked what I recommend for AAC app or device.
I will say: try low-tech, or a simple text-to-speech if you can type. Can always much expand system later! AAC system is combination of all ways you communicate not with mouthwords.
Can have notebook with pictures cut and glued on. Can have communication cards. Can have pictures saved on phone or other device.
Use Coughdrop myself. Coughdrop works for me. It has free trial, and I think basic functions don't go away after trial? Very fortunate have Coughdrop thanks to assistive funding.
Also used text to speech in past. Still use paper book with pictures, because computer voice reading no good for Deaf friends, and visual text no good for people who not understand or read them. Good to have pictures also.
Own AAC system includes gestures, including little bits of local sign language. Not everyone understands these, but still part of my AAC.
Most often used AAC form in my AAC system just typing. Typing to write this - could not say with mouthwords, and take very long time to say with app. I type, and that works for me.
Typing easiest/most reliable form of communication for me, probably. Love love love using Coughdrop, but takes longer and not as many words, punctuation, etc as typing. Can't always type, but is vital part of my AAC.

I know I talk a lot about being an AAC user on here, but honestly I mask and force speech most of the time, and when I fully lose speech I let my parents talk for me. I wish I could use my device more but I’m so anxious about my parents judging me or saying I don’t need it. I mostly use it in low stakes situations like with friends that know I’m an AAC user and store clerks who I’ll never see again. I wish people in my life would prompt me to use my device so that I could communicate better. I feel like a fraud. I wish I could just be a full time mouthwords user. Who doesn’t have communication and speech issues.

Note
AAC culture is people praising when use mouthwords instead of AAC. don't really like it . (Mostly speaking, use aac sometimes)
^^^
Especially when aac easier than mouthwords

i just love the phrasing 'mouthwords' so much. its so specific and perfect. like yes they are words you make with your mouth. unlike words that you dont make with your mouth like writing or aac . it also just sounds so fun . mouthwords

Do any other autistics feel a strange sense of discomfort, or feel like they are slightly dissociating when they speak with mouthwords?
For some reason, very frequently lately, if I speak outloud it's like I don't recognize my voice or something and it makes me like feel weird like thinking things like "is that my voice" "am I awake or asleep" "I'm a real person?" Etc.
Idk if I'm just experiencing a burnout of sorts or what but it's been a lot more difficult to use mouth words and form verbal sentences and remember words etc.

to the hilt
give him a sword,
tell him to use it.
But did you ask him
if he wanted to fight
or serve like this?
give him a sword,
show him how to swing it.
Let him grip the blade
and watch the ribbons
of vermilion streak steel.
give him a sword,
teach him to clean it.
Watch him polish it,
the rust flaking from edges
and scattering in ash,
carried by your heaving breaths
across the field.
give him a sword,
make him fear it.
Sharpen him, starch him, strangle him,
send him to war.
watch him dance for you,
while you sit, entombed,
the tang never touching,
always moving,
ready to murder, to maim.
give him a sword,
watch him bury it.
The dust settles,
the wind howls,
the glass shatters,
the blood splatters
across his face.
you roar for more
but it is too late.
you gave him the sword.
did you ever think to ask
if it was his war,
or his revenge?

im counted as semiverbal, when young wasnt expected to speak much in life apart from repeating phrases from stuff that like and have severe speech impairemnt and also speech delay. speaking is very hard, every day i usually dont speak mouthwords i barely speak dont do full sentences more just words broken up about intrests, i have stuttering and speech impairemnt still cant do certain sounds and everything. speech can be counted as unreliable its difficult sometimes will multiple times in row say word opposite of what i mean.
not sure what level of communication mean exactly :(
currently no therapies really cause neglect. not sure what want either but i really really like the progressive aba practice i seen get implemented in a few places now like the heavy occupational therapy-like approach i think stuff like that could benefit me and also physical therapy maybe and mental health but dont know if would work best as have low iq which complicate stuff. been through lot therapies as child though.
missed most education in life because of how autism severely impact and ID and lots healh issue as child. been in special education lots with therapies in the special education place too (mostly was speech therapy at there) and kind of mainstream in special program. but ma unable of academical stuff generally and can't progress much higher than about 3rd ish grader stuff for math for example or lower in some areas.
this pineapple almond cream cheese, crispy mnms, sweet and sour chinese chicken, caramelised chinese chicken, soba noodles, sour cream & onion peanuts, sweetcorn
yes lots
i have complex high support needs, generally severely disabled heavily most by autism and intelectual disability, but some of my stuff alone considered more moderate or moderate to high severity.
support needs growing up were also high support needs for autism, not as bad with physical disabilities alone before age of 9 but autism makes me struggle physically too so bit complex. but always high needs been.
original diagnosis as child not remember too well, was young + amnesia but was recognised as quote "severely autistic with significant low iq ability and developmentally behind across the board in all areas" was also reffered to as globally development delayed.
yes technically have carer but she not really good one
would hope one day to actually get proper supports generally in all area and wheelchair as well as maybe have go at the progressive aba approach therapy the recent modern ones
no unable of work completely
unsure but label visible autism not mean sometimes stimming or sometime people say you seemed autistic to them because of "vibe get" ect. also puzzle piece not inherently bad and harm just because once bad connotation happened.
would want to be boba tea shop assistant maybe sometimes
yes had lots delay
Autism ask game!!
