it's not like they live on a mountain with other monkey citizens running around
Or also known as Oz trying to flirt (??) but it backfires on her.
set after BMW when Oz is living on Mount Huaguo, hence the hanfu and the neater hairdo
I think I'm also slowly getting the hang of drawing Sun Wukong without having to look at 81 reference images

Been thinking a lot about Oda choosing Queen of Night as Law's image flower.
Like. Isn't that really important? In a story heavily featuring sun symbolism, MC with an image flower called Sun-facer, being assigned with "Beauty under Moonlight" is a dead giveaway that the author considers his role to be complimentary to the protagonist, an alternate source of light that takes its light from the sun.
A lot of Japanese fans think the last bit of vegapunk's message, "Those of you who are toyed by that fate, I hope this message reaches you" - was directed at Law's plot. There's no other D who is currently alive and interested in their "checkered fate" other than Law. Dawn and Dusk shared an interesting observation about Law's family being the only family of D's confirmed to originate from the opposite side of the red line (x). Then there's the hidden family name, and a five billion berry devil fruit ability. The groundwork has been laid out and none of these have been properly explained yet, there's no way Law wouldn't be important to the endgame plot.

idle re-imagining of the trash mob goblin we often see:
this goblin variant would be a runaway experiment of someone that wanted self-sufficient worker drones and thus are plant/bug hybrids
the green skin is a side-effect of letting their entire skin be able to photosynthesize to reduce food costs. they have seemingly solid yellow eyes, but these are just lenses that cover up the compound eyes underneath. the noses are closer to horns filled with sensory organs for better detection and tracking of pheromones. the mouth is filled with razor-sharp teeth to help with cutting up meat, though their diet is mostly fruits and berries
behavior-wise, if left alone they form up communities akin to bees and their hives, with a singular "queen" taking up reproductive duties while the workers forage around the vicinity of the nest. they reproduce by growing seedpods inside them which are then implanted via an ovipositor either inside the "queen" or anywhere moist enough such as watered soil
when provoked, they attack with their teeth and claws, often leaping several times their height at great speeds. alone, they're not a threat, but they forage in groups of up to 6. tool or weapon use is rarely observed unless facing a nest that has been active for months, and oftentimes they are observed to only use clubs, rudimentary spears, or slings
there are no known goblin nests that are active for more than 2 years due to extermination quests being enacted on any known long-term nest, but there are persistent rumors of a "goblin queendom" where the original goblins thrive

There's this game that lets you play through like. Human evolution from the perspective of early hominids and we've had it for a couple years now. It's a very hard game with next to no pointers or tutorials, you just gotta know how to turn these monkeys into humans through tool use and defensive strategy and migration and communication and needless to say I am hopelessly addicted to the monkeys

I'm pretty sure horses and ponies are different things??? Like, in the show, they refer to horses as if they are a separate thing from our pony protagonists
"we have hearts as strong as horses" "don't look a gift horse in the mouth", etc. are expressions that are used in the show
And, in real life, horses and ponies are different things (the biggest difference being horses are a lot bigger)
So like, Idk what a "horse" is in that universe but it's not Fluttershy
stoppppp posting pictures of food bro i’m so hungry i could eat a. fluttershy cover your ears. i’m so hungry i could eat a horse man.

I've seen posts going around claiming that petting animals is basically tricking them into thinking they're being groomed, and it's bugging me because, like, there's no trickery afoot. Petting and scritching are grooming activities. They help to dislodge loose fur and foreign objects and more evenly distribute protective oils, among other things. Primates are social groomers, and the human impulse to scritch is the legacy of our primate ancestors. We see an animal we like, even a dangerous one, and the monkey brain says "groom that thing".

Phew. This one took, uh… a bit longer than expected due to other projects both irl and art-wise, but it’s finally here. The long-awaited domestic animal infographic! Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough space to cover every single domestic animal (I’m so sorry, reindeer and koi, my beloveds) but I tried to include as many of the “major ones” as possible.
I made this chart in response to a lot of the misunderstandings I hear concerning domestic animals, so I hope it’s helpful!
Further information I didn’t have any room to add or expand on:
🐈 “Breed” and “species” are not synonyms! Breeds are specific to domesticated animals. A Bengal Tiger is a species of tiger. A Siamese is a breed of domestic cat.
🐀 Different colors are also not what makes a breed. A breed is determined by having genetics that are unique to that breed. So a “bluenose pitbull” is not a different breed from a “rednose pitbull”, but an American Pitbull Terrier is a different breed from an American Bully! Animals that have been domesticated for longer tend to have more seperate breeds as these differing genetics have had time to develop.
🐕 It takes hundreds of generations for an animal to become domesticated. While the “domesticated fox experiment” had interesting results, there were not enough generations involved for the foxes to become truly domesticated and their differences from wild foxes were more due to epigenetics (heritable traits that do not change the DNA sequence but rather activate or deactivate parts of it; owed to the specific circumstances of its parents’ behavior and environment.)
🐎 Wild animals that are raised in human care are not domesticated, but they can be considered “tamed.” This means that they still have all their wild instincts, but are less inclined to attack or be frightened of humans. A wild animal that lives in the wild but near human settlements and is less afraid of humans is considered “habituated.” Tamed and habituated animals are not any less dangerous than wild animals, and should still be treated with the same respect. Foxes, otters, raccoons, servals, caracals, bush babies, opossums, owls, monkeys, alligators, and other wild animals can be tamed or habituated, but they have not undergone hundreds of generations of domestication, so they are not domesticated animals.
🐄 Also, as seen above, these animals have all been domesticated for a reason, be it food, transport, pest control, or otherwise, at a time when less practical options existed. There is no benefit to domesticating other species in the modern day, so if you’ve got a hankering for keeping a wild animal as a pet, instead try to find the domestic equivalent of that wild animal! There are several dog breeds that look and behave like wolves or foxes, pigeons and chickens can make great pet birds and have hundreds of colorful fancy breeds, rats can be just as intelligent and social as a small monkey (and less expensive and dangerous to boot,) and ferrets are pretty darn close to minks and otters! There’s no need to keep a wolf in a house when our ancestors have already spent 20,000+ years to make them house-compatible.
🐖 This was stated in the infographic, but I feel like I must again reiterate that domestic animals do not belong in the wild, and often become invasive when feral. Their genetics have been specifically altered in such a way that they depend on humans for optimal health. We are their habitat. This is why you only really see feral pigeons in cities, and feral cats around settlements. They are specifically adapted to live with humans, so they stay even when unwanted. However, this does not mean they should live in a way that doesn’t put their health and comfort as a top priority! If we are their world, it is our duty to make it as good as possible. Please research any pet you get before bringing them home!

To all of my sisters, brothers and siblings of the lgbtq+ family, to all the people who fear for their rights, their bodies, their lives:
I am sorry.
I am sorry that you will have to go through this.
I am sorry that your family and friends couldn’t help and protect you from this madman and his stupid, insane flying monkeys.
I am sorry that the fight will be so much harder now.
But know this: you are loved, you and your life are valued, and special, and unique.
We may be internet strangers, but we feel with you, we cry with you, we scream with you.
We mourn your deaths, murdered by politicians that use their power to suppress everyone around them, and we will do everything we can to help you.
But to be able to do that, you have to keep fighting, keep living. Show that fucker that he may be able to buy, lie and cheat his way to the top, but he won’t be able to silence you. Our ancestors fought for us, and we will continue this fight. For us, and all the children terrified of being themselves.
I beg you, don’t give up, no matter what they throw at you.
It will be hard, but together we can survive and live.
Always remember:
You are loved.

Bunjy, how close to a human liver do you need to have to eat chocolate? Can great apes eat chocolate? Can any other primate?
no, other great apes can't have chocolate, and other primates can't either! you need an actual hominin-line liver to pull this trick off, so humans and human ancestors only as far as primates go.
other primates can and do eat the flesh of the cacao fruit, which chocolate is made from, but chocolate is made from the seeds, aaaand those are where the cacao plant is hiding all of its secret and most potent poisons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(theobromine. it's theobromine)
were a chimpanzee or smaller monkey to pig out on chocolate or cacao seeds, they could expect to experience hyperactivity, tremors, increased heartrate, seizures, and heart failure. in roughly that order.
Tumblr media
"oh god! I should have stopped thirty seeds ago!! why did I do that!!!"
so you know what? sometimes it's good to be a human, actually.
Tumblr media
"oh, boy! poison!! my favorite!!!"
humans stand head and shoulders above every other primate on earth when it comes to the enormous variety of foods they are able to eat without getting sick or dying about it!
but also just literally. humans are very tall.
Tumblr media
okay that's all, good night love you
