Kalau mau yang bener2 bersih, idealis, mah, susah. Wong voters nya aja, yang begitu berharga suaranya, dikasih serangan aja diterima. Ya, kita artinya masih dalam kendali sistem kotor para penguasa berduit. Yang eksekutif dengan kekuasaan dan kebijakan, yang legislatif dengan bagi2 duit, sembako, bantuan sosial lainnya. Kebiasaanya sih begitu. Sudah rahasia umum, bukan?

Jadi jangan terlalu berekspektasi tinggi, sampai bela mati, tutup mata. Mau itu tentang pribadinya, partainya, mau eksekutif ataupun legislatif. Susah mah politik siapa yang mau dipercaya.

Sekarang kita yang millenial ini yang harus siapin generasi alpa dengan sebaik mungkin dan memutus pola2 curang, kotor tak beradab, tak sesuai norma. Susah sih. Butuh banyak orang. Tinggal mau berubah atau nggak. Dari diri sendiri, ke lingkungan terkecil keluarga, saudara, tetangga, RT, desa, dst. Yang paling berat ya dimulai dari diri sendiri.

Politik itu kan seni. Seni merayu dan mememengaruhi orang lain untuk mendapatkan legitimasi. Bisa memengaruhi keluarga aja, kita sudah berpolitik. Nah dimulai dengan politik yang bersih dan baik.

Belajar mulai dari diri sendiri untuk tidak menormalisasikan hal-hal yang memang ngga normal. Jangan hanya sekadar dilakukan banyak orang jadi dinormalkan, padahal tidak sesuai dengan hukum dan norma. Berani berbeda untuk hal yang benar memang challenging.

Semangat diri menormalisasikan yg benar. Bukan menormalisasikan yang banyak dilakukan mayoritas orang.

I feel like it's important to point out that in the last few days alone, in the middle of the ongoing flap about How Old He Is, Biden has announced two MAJOR pieces of progressive legislation/priorities for his second term: a) major SCOTUS reform, term limits for SCOTUS justices, a constitutional amendment nullifying the "president god-king" ruling, and b) legislation to cap/stabilize rent costs nationwide and financially punish landlords who raise their tenant's rent by more than a certain percentage (the news I saw had it as no more than 5%) in a year.

It is important to note that aside from these both being necessary and needed (the SCOTUS reform alone, holy shit) Biden's response to challenges to his candidacy is to go MORE left, not LESS. The conventional wisdom for 800 years has always been that Democrats Need To Go More Centrist, a mainstream and longterm Democrat like Biden has absolutely heard it over and over, and we have heard so much about how we need to court Republicans who are tired of Trump by being more conservative. Biden is not doing that. He is making the electoral gamble that the way to win is by going even more left, which would also have implications for his policy agenda in a second term, especially when he was freed of re-election concerns and could just go "fuck it."

Now we, and I cannot emphasize this enough, need to reward him for the move leftward and incentivize him to do it more. When you shout endlessly at politicians to be more left and then just bitch at them for not being even more left even when they move in that direction, you discourage them from doing so and make the hoary old Move To The Center narrative come back yet again. The claim originates from an ACLU questionnaire she filled out for her 2020 presidential candidacy, specifically this section:

She wasn't given a new questionnaire for 2024, and has stated that while her policy on some things may have changed, her values had not. (This most likely means she moved more to the center to appease larger demographics and cut corners to reach compromises. The basic politician stuff.)

It boils down to this: If you're in prison, whether for "illegal" immigration or other crimes, you rely on the state to provide you with necessary amenities, like food and health care. Her argument isn't "hell yeah everyone in prison should get sex changes for free". It's "gender affirming surgery is a necessary medical procedure. If you are in the states care while this becomes necessary, the state should provide it." If you're outraged by your tax money being used on this, consider the massive amount of people being incarcerated in for-profit prisons, on your dime. Then ask yourself if maybe a prison reform might be in order.

Worth noting: In 2015, while Attorney General, Kamala Harris actually argued against providing gender-affirming surgery to an incarcerated trans woman, claiming that HRT and psychotherapy were sufficiently covering her medical needs. She has since obviously changed her stance and assumed responsibility. (I would like to take this moment to remind my fellow left extremist commie faggots that "willingness to learn and rethink your views" is infinitely more valuable than "perfect from the start and unwilling to listen to anyone")
