July 11, 2024 - Republican youth in Northern Ireland’s city of Derry clashed with police, hurling Molotovs, fireworks, and stones at the security forces. Police accompanied by a phalanx of armored vehicles entered the Republican community of Creggan to conduct multiple raids following the discovery of a “suspicious device,” which the police declared to be an “elaborate hoax” designed to cause unrest. Residents of the Republican stronghold however dismissed the claim that an “elaborate hoax” was behind the police incursion given the frequency at which police raid the community.
