We're still close to Halloween, so I guess I can still post these, right? Right?? Please, they're 2 years old at this point (possibly even 3, I'm not sure anymore T_T), I need them out there!

I'm not gonna lie, I love that @calista-dolls made me put Alex' wig on Chelle, it suits her really well T//T ♥

This is one of my personal faceups on a Kana Doll Lucien Nr. 08 head originally in white skin, but matched to Soom'S cream white. I modded his human ears to curled elvish ones as he's a unicorn (his horn is magnetic and stays along the wig.

He's the thief that stole my Soom Heliot's hoofed body, but that's okay, he looks very sweet on it!

I added a ton of gold shimmer to his ears, eyes, and lips. The earrings are only glued on as I don't like piercing my own dolls' ears (despite having modded them already).

What a sweet unicorn boy, all decked out for traveling!

Some photos of my boy Anubis!

Anubis is a Dream Valley Glen head modded and painted by Chromacritters on Instagram with GalaxyNook eyes on a standard Dream Valley YoSD body!

He's also holding a dollhouse 1:12 scale "Book of the Dead" book by LaboratoriodiManu! Perfect prop size for a little God of the Dead!!

So here is a mini breakdown of how I created the BJD eye cups.

First off, you’re going to need some sort of backing to round out the eyeball. I split wooden beads apart and glued them to the backs. This is going to help the eyeball rotate.

Now you are going to need some half spheres. They need to be larger than your eyeball so the can move freely once padding is added. I made these with hot glue and two metal measuring spoons, one inside the other. This created the mold for the sphere. Have ice water handy because a quick cool down makes it easier to peel the glue out. They don’t have to be perfect, you can always trim if need be.

Fluff time. I gently tugged apart a cotton makeup wipe to create the pillow we need. How much you’re going to need will vary and you will need to experiment with how much is going to work for the eyeball. Lots of trial and error here. You want to set it in the half-spheres lightly, do not pack it in.

Position your eyeball. This is also trial and error. You want it center with enough room to move. You will have to put the cup on and experiment. Have a toothpick like object and a little bit of tac to do a trial run on the eyeballs movement. Add/remove fluff as needed. You want a semi-firm cushion but not so much to hinder movement. You may need to adjust position of the cup to either side as well for optimal movement.

I very much recommend Faber-Castell blue tac it. It doesn’t leave marks on the pupils as you move the eye around.

Did you find a prime position? Glue the cap in. I know magnets are usually used, but I’m being cheap here. A couple spots of hot glue holds the cup in and is easily pulled out for change and repositioning. Just trim off the excess glue and start again.

Some heads may be more difficult to place the cups side by side. You will have to use your best judgement to trim and move as necessary. For a couple I had to trim some of the side of the cup off because of the angle.

Got them both in? Great! Replace the head and admire your work.

Side note: I did notice some eyewells were deeper than others (looking at you Dante) I did have to do a little bit of pre padding carefully around the eyeball before placing the cap, just to help keep the eye in position. Be sure to check often to make sure there is no stray fluff peeking around the eye.

This was a quick and dirty explanation of how I did this. It isn’t pretty, but it works. Now the dolls have more expression than ever from sultry, to suspicious, to downright deviant.

Feel free to use or make improvements upon this concept. It’s meant to be a cheap and easy project.

Some modding has been done.

Marcia with modded eyes that I got as a gift with the project doll from my last post. Decided to undo the mod at least slightly. Not completely even, but I think I'm OK with it like this.

Modded Ruth, bought cheaply for the unfinished Eye- opening mod. Decided to get a wink face for my dear Eva.

Open to sleeping eyes mod on Chloe. Idk why it's so difficult to find a sleeping Chloe, so in the end I decided to do it myself.

I'll try to colour match all of these in the next days, wish me luck.

Lastly, i decided to give my Mossling a few mushrooms.

Had a more elaborate design at first, but it was very fragile and the thought that I'd have to put that on 4 extra faces kinda deterred me from doing so...

Now this Dollzone Chun commission took a while to complete as he was very intense task-wise! He got a faceup, body blushing, tattoos, fantasy parts blushing, manicure, and a modification.

The tattoo on the face is a nailart sticker provided by the client.

The antlers were originally strung on, so I modded them to magnetic instead. But then I ran into the issue of the wig being too thick and the antlers not holding, so I added a billion more magnets. It paid off though!

Just look at that hold! I could wiggle the head upside down and the horns stayed in place.

Shot and edited this photoshoot a total of three times, twice yesterday and once today with my camera settings fixed. Still too dark and didnt like most but much more reasonable. Also experimented with drawing in some stuff on procreate to give it a different vibe than my usual dioramas, despite using the same couch.

Also, very rare for my photoshoots- significant pose alterations! Tried to give the vibe that Eko is chatting and gesturing while Jameson is listening and getting up to futz with the skateboard.

Workspace Wednesday!

I’ve wanted the BJD eye backs for so long, but at $8 a pop and 20 dolls… not within reasonable reach atm. So I tossed my brain around and came up with an easy diy. It’s not as clean or pretty as the plastic magnetic ones, but no one is going to see them and they aren’t all that hard to fix/remake.

Night is showing off his suspicious look.
