Several genres have gone extinct in the AAA space. Point and click adventure games, plastic instrument rythme games, and others are on life support like RTSes. What other genres do you think are next of being unprofitable at AAA production values?

I think it's likely to be regularly released titles that are in danger of slipping under the radar already, especially franchises that are losing steam. For example, I think fighting games that aren't Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat have little chance of AAA success nowadays. I think annual sports titles that aren't FIFA, Madden, or NBA 2K are slipping down there (e.g. UFC/MMA, PGA golf, WWE wrestling, skateboarding, etc.). You are correct about RTS games falling off - genre-adjacent games like MOBAs and Tower Defense games have fallen off alongside them. I think that shoot-em-ups, brawlers, and platformers fell down there a long time ago. I think simulation games like flight simulators are on their way into the sunset. I think short-form narrative games (e.g. Uncharted) have also become unsustainable outside of special circumstances like being platform exclusives.

Basically, AAA budgets can't exist if enough people aren't actively interested in the type of game and willing to keep playing it for a long time. It's quite normal for genres to mature and a handful of established industry leaders to carve out a sustainable audience and everybody else to lose ground until they basically fall out completely.

I’m pretty sure Matt Walsh is one of those American conservatives who were a failed entertainer/musician turned to conservative media for a paycheck. These type of people I find to be lost souls without a higher purpose no matter how much they praise Christian beliefs. I don’t feel Christ is in their hearts as much as the love of money and power and influence. The things that Satan temped Jesus with in the desert.

Yeah, there's nothing more dangerous than people with failed dreams because they are so bitter and hateful against everyone. I think Ben Shapiro is a failed screenwriter and Candace Owen tried to create an app to signal hate crime when she was still a liberal 💀 oh and let's not forget Andrew Tate and his career as an MMA player (heard he was not bad at it but it was kinda nipped into the bud). Miles Cheong (an infamous Musk bootlicker) was a video game reviews and got splashed by the gamergate scandal. I remember when Musk started beefing against Rockstar game/GTA VI (probably tweaking on ketamine) on xitter, Miles went to his defense saying he never played a GTA game, and he got fact-checked with a community note explaining that since he was a game reviewer, he most likely already played that game 😭💀

And conservatives seething at Ariel being Black over the "she's looking like Ariel" really show they hypocrite selves because when Margot Robbie (who was a perfect barbie lookalike) got casted in Barbie, they still had a problem with that cast because she was too old (which is INSANE because barbie can literally be any age), or ugly (which is peak delusion), etc etc... They will always find excuses....

That being said, I don't think conservatives would have have much a problem with an Asian barbie bc Asians (at least easterners) are still pale, Asians don't have the same history as they do with black Americans so rightoids don't have the same deep seated guilt(?) that breeds that resentment & defensiveness whenever they see black people represented in media. And yeah, none of these conservatives are Christians. They are modern day pharisees or zealots. It's not coincidence that Jesus rebuked both of these sides. In the desert, satan tempted Jesus with 3 leverage : materialism/desire of the flesh (asking him to turn stone into bread), greediness (asking him to bow before him to have all the glory in the world), and prideful recklessness (asking him to self harm/throw himself over a cliff arguing nothing will happen to him anyway bc he's the son of God). I'm starting to get into martial arts (and by extent mma) soooo here's an MMA au idea!

Hanzo "Scorpion" Hasashi - the super welterweight champion in Japan whos manager/coach is Quan Chi of course.

Bi-Han "Sub-Zero" - the welterweight champion in China. Manager is Sektor's Father.

Kuai "Tundra" Liang - the Super Lightweight champion in China. Manager is also Sektor's father.

Tomas "Smoke" Vrbada - a fighter in the light weight division. He has yet to win a championship match and his manager is sektor's father.

Cole Young - the distant cousin of Hanzo, he's a struggling fighter in Chicago.

Sektor - hes the son of the manager of the Lin Kuei MMA Gym and is set to be next in line to be the manager.

Cyrax - a recent transfer from South Africa, hes a MMA fighter in training at the Lin Kuei Gym.

Liu Kang - A Shaolin who became a fighter from China. He's in the light weight division. Manager/coach is Raiden.

Kung Lao - another shaolin who became a fighter and is the Shi Xiong of Liu. He's in the super lightweight devision. Manager/coach is Raiden.

Out of curiosity do any of you lovely people also practice martial arts?

I just recently started kickboxing at a MMA gym and eventually I’m going to move into either Muay Thai or Taekwondo 🫡

A lot of my inspiration came from mortal kombat but also from watching so many fighting films as a kid. It’s been so nostalgic being back on the mat— even if I’m getting my ass kicked consistently.

This also gave me an idea about how the mk1 roster would react to their s/o trying out martial arts for the first time

Mortal Kombat: 2021 film AU story - 5/18/22 draft

Every generation, an ancient tournament called Mortal Kombat is held to decide the fate of realms. The emperor of Outworld has won nine victories against Earthrealm, and if they win one more, they will be able to conquer Earthrealm.

The former monk Liu Kang receives an invitation to Mortal Kombat. Kang initially refuses, but recalls the death of his family at the hands of the sorcerer Shang Tsung (who is also the tournament’s host), and is further motivated to participate. The thunder god Raiden warns Kang that he can’t compete if his sole purpose is vengeance. Raiden then enlists Kang’s cousin Kung Lao to look after him.

Upon boarding a boat from Hong Kong to Tsung’s island, Kang and Lao are joined by Special Forces agent Sonya Blade and her major Jackson “Jax” Briggs as well as washed up MMA fighter Cole Young, and the Lin Kuei assassin Bi Han (codenamed Sub-Zero). Despite being chosen to partake in Mortal Kombat, they have different motivations for entering the tournament. Sonya and Jax are on the trail of the Black Dragon gang leader Kano, Cole is seeking to provide for his wife and daughter as well as to return to his glory days, and Bi Han is assigned to assassinate Tsung.

After a confrontation with Tsung, the undead specter Scorpion, and the half-mutant Mileena, Raiden takes his fighters to safety, and explains to them what they are up against, and that one of them must decide the outcome of the tournament. As soon as they arrive on the island, the fighters are greeted to a banquet and a brutal demonstration where Kano rips the heart out of a masked guard. Shortly after, the heroes are then trained by Raiden to unlock their full abilities and rise up to the challenge.

The following day, the tournament begins with Sonya, Kang, Cole, Lao, Jax and Sub-Zero scoring victories against Kano, his right-hand man Kabal, the reptilian Syzoth, the vampire Nitara, the Outworld general Reiko, and the demon Drahmin, respectively. Deciding that the Earthrealm fighters have won enough, Tsung summons Scorpion, Mileena and the Shokan champion Goro to dispatch them.

Things begin to look dour for Earthrealm as Goro puts Jax in a coma by ripping his arms off, Scorpion murders Sub-Zero, and Mileena wounds Lao. After some encouragement and words of advice from Raiden, things begin to look up for Kang, Sonya and Cole as they finally unlock their full abilities. Cole faces Scorpion, but spares him after learning of his connection to the specter. Sonya kills Mileena in a vicious battle, and Kang finally embraces his destiny by killing Goro, and becoming the new champion.

Knowing that the tournament is not over yet, Kang decides he must face Tsung, and after encouragement from Raiden, Sonya, Lao and Cole, he ventures into the sorcerer’s palace for the final kombat. Recalling everything he has learned, Kang defeats Tsung and wins Mortal Kombat, preserving Earthrealm’s safety for another generation.

Tsung retreats back to Outworld to inform the emperor of his failure, and the heroes return to their home to celebrate their victory. However, unbeknownst to them, the emperor is planning his revenge.

Mid-credits scene: The Lin Kuei inform Kuai Liang about Bi Han’s death, and so, he decides to take matters into his own hands by adopting his brother’s mantle of Sub-Zero.

Post-credits scene: Johnny Cage hears rumors about the tournament, and decides that this could be the blueprint for a blockbuster smash.

I wrote this story last year, so things might be subject to change with a newer draft, but who knows?

I feel like Cole Young as a protagonist could work better as being more of an opposite to 2021!Hanzo, just both having different origins could be a interest clash personality and ideals wise. Get a more in depth look at Cole being an orphan growing up on the streets in Chicago and prioritizing survival over literally anything else. Letting his short temper(something he and his daughter) out on opponents in MMA fights because it was a easy way to make money with the skill and strategy he had of all out aggression. He was selfish yes but that was the best way to get by with how he lived. However once he got married and had a kid that fire he had began to ware down as he found some kind of peace with himself and his tough childhood. He barely went to fights anymore and his temper got better, even starting to look for better jobs yet also went back to the ring because his daughter like to watch him fight.

Now of simply being selfish be prioritized his family above anything else. That aggression is still there but he focuses on strategy first, that’s until he gets roped into the Mortal Kombat stuff. Where protests to because he wants to protect his family first not Earthrealm, even when visions of scorpion start happening he denies this whole bloodline thing because he doesn’t want to got back to that familiar rage he had when he was younger. Just a more selfish Cole that doesn’t act like Hanzo was at all

Shouts to Uriah Hall. Didn’t get to it when he announced it but I hope he does well in retirement. Dude was brilliant at times. Often times, he was frustrating. Inside and out the cage. But he gave the sport a lot of amazing moments. And while I think he was his own worst enemy most of the time, I respect he had a vision of martial arts that was basically ‘I want to do the finish him moves from mortal kombat to win fights’. And it worked 50% of the time. Can’t hate on that.

MORTAL KOMBAT- 2021 ⭐️

Cole is a lame mma fighter who discovers his odd birthmark compells him to battle for earth in a deadly tournament against supernatural fighters....

Couldnt get into this at all. Cole is the main character and the least interesting guy in the whole thing. Kano was annoying. Acting lame and childish banter between basically everyone.

Some of the action was good admittedly. Popped for one or two of the over the top bloody kills but wasnt enough to keep me interested.
