This took a bit longer since I had to get new reference for season 6 designs, some of them aren’t good because we don’t have a lot of clear shots of them yet.

Lila’s new plan

In “Perfection”, as everyone gathers to try and help Marinette find the right opportunity to reciprocate Adrien’s affection and confess her feelings, it is in the midst of their yoga session with Miss Bustier that Lila begins to show hints of her next plan to ruin Marinette’s life.

Ever since the events of “Ladybug”, Lila had thus far decided to abide by Adrien’s demands to leave Marinette alone, however, knowing now that she could not directly hurt Marinette, Lila has instead decided to focus her attention on manipulating others to carry out her plans to ruin Marinette in her place.

Of all the people within Marinette's life, Lila has primarily decided to focus on people who have an obvious weakness towards Marinette, weaknesses which would be the easiest to take advantage of, through Lila’s eyes at least. Chloe being one of those people, whom Lila grew to learn held just as much anger towards Marinette and Ladybug as she did.

Although Chloe has become one of the few to see Lila’s true colors, she has no desire to expose her so long as Lila aims to help ruin Marinette’s life. Chloe had long considered Marinette as someone who was beneath her in every way, and although she is aware Marinette is growing confident enough to stand up for herself, Chloe had quickly viewed Marinette as someone who was interfering with the one thing she alone had deemed herself to be entitled to, Adrien’s love.

Chloe and Lila are both interested in Adrien, but their views over Adrien were vastly different from the reality as they latched to the image of perfection Adrien was more commonly seen as in magazines, when presented by his father. Rather than getting to know the real Adrien behind all the business images, Chloe and Lila had both favored their own idea of who Adrien was and should be. Chloe had long believed Adrien was someone who should and would prioritize his rich status, just as she has done, and be expected to find the idea of being with someone like Marinette to be ridiculous given she was just a baker girl. Through Chloe's eyes, she and Adrien were meant to be, given their history and status, all she would need to do is teach him how the world works when it comes to people like them, something she even explains to Marinette back in “Animaestro”.

  Lila on the other hand, believed no one but her was suited to be with Adrien, viewing him as an image of perfection that she alone had a right to be with as she viewed herself as someone who only deserved the best there was. Through her eyes alone, Adrien felt the same way about her and disregarded all others who actively tried to gain his affection.

 But to both Chloe and Lila's shock, Adrien had already fallen for Marinette long before their allegiance began.

(in “Risk”, Lila comes to the shocking realization that Adrien has genuine feelings for Marinette the moment he willingly holds her hand. Lila is angered over Marinette receiving Adrien’s affection given he has never reciprocated affection in the same way towards anyone else, including herself)

Lila does not bode well to having things denied or taken from her, and knowing now that Adrien is in love with Marinette, Lila is determined to carry out whatever plan necessary to not only make Marinette feel miserable, but to additionally ruin Marinette's reputation and separate her from Adrien, and it all starts with helping improve Chloe’s image. Chloe alone has a very ill reputation among the student body, but by Lila openly displaying attempts to stay with Chloe, Lila is effectively making steps in convincing the student body that she, the kind and devoted girl who has helped resolve countless seemingly impossible problems throughout the world, has now decided to befriend the girl who would ordinarily listen to no one, no one but her.

(In “Perfection”, Lila openly shows her attempts to restrain Chloe from her typical behavior by instructing her to allow Marinette to sit next to Adrien, allowing her to not only show everyone her attempts to be more involved and better Chloe’s behavior, but additionally make it seem like she alone is someone whom Chloe will listen to)

However, despite Lila and Chloe agreeing to work together to ruin Marinette, Chloe alone believes  Lila had intended to befriend her amidst their allegiance as she remarks by saying that Lila’s efforts have now earned her a spot as her new best friend, something which Sabrina is shown to be saddened and conflicted about as she had long believed herself to be Chloe’s one and only best friend. Although Sabrina is also gradually learning about Lila’s true nature,  given she will do anything for Chloe, Sabrina remains loyal to Chloe and her choice to have Lila within their little social circle, however, the longer Lila remains with them, the more Sabrina begins to realize that Chloe does not hold the same level of respect towards her as she does with Lila (more here).

Aside from Chloe, Lila is additionally attempting to pursue and take advantage of Kagami, whos inexperience with friendships have made her vulnerable towards kindness, and whos lack of social skills and understanding towards how friendships work, have left her unaware of  when someone like Lila is taking advantage of her.

In an effort to gain Kagami’s loyalty and separate her from Marinette, lila had taken steps to make Kagami question whether or not she is actually good enough to be considered a friend to others, specifically Marinette, even more so if she qualified to be viewed by Marinette herself as a friend rather than just someone she pitied and is now gradually avoiding. 

(Lila provides Kagami a “Friendship test” to persuade her into believing that Marinette does not view her in the same regard as her other friends, restricting her from properly talking to Marinette to sort out any misunderstandings and instead inching her to believing that she has no reason being friends with someone(Marinette) whom Lila claims is not considerate of her)

Despite Kagami and Marinette sorting out their misunderstandings near the end of “Perfection”, Kagami’s realization that the love people have among friends is multiplied rather than divided, has prompted her to accept Lila’s friendship as well. If Marinette views her in just as much regard as Alya and her other friends, and if the others within Adrien and Marinette’s social circle are willing to be kind and considerate enough to help make a giant banner to symbolize their acceptance of her and attempts to befriend her, then to have Lila would mean to have one more friend who cares about her and to cherish in return, all things Lila has no intention to fulfill in return as her efforts remain solely to tarnish and end the bond Kagami has developed with Marinette, making Kagami that much easier to persuade into retaliating against Marinette in her place. 

Even though it has been revealed that Kagami and Chloe are targeted by Lila, they are far from the only ones Lila intends to take advantage of. In "Perfection, Lila is seen within a mysterious bed room vastly different from her room in “Catalyst”, observing various photos of Marinette surrounded by different people within her life. The photos she has spent time cutting Marinette out of, primarily focus on Marinette’s relationships with Luka, Zoe, Kagami, as well as her parents. 

Aside from Kagami, Lila has already made steps to get close to Sabine as she is seen actively attending her class back in “Quilin”. Had Lila continued to attend Sabine's class, Lila would have planned the simple approach of focusing her attention in forging a fake bond with Sabine, but how she plans to take advantage of her as well as the others is something we will need to wait and see.

The sweet, the sweet irony of Sabrina believing she will never earn Marinette’s trust when she gave her the Dog back

Think about it for a minute: Sabrina first received the Dog in Penalteam, purely because the heroes would have been outnumbered against the villain of the week otherwise. Ladybug made a temporary decision based on nothing but immediate needs, and probably didn’t think she’d ever let Sabrina use its powers again.

But in the meantime, there was Strikeback:

The Dog was the reason Ladybug lost the Miraculous — which in turn was a huge factor in Monarch’s final “victory”. All because she entrusted its power to the wrong person, someone she thought she could trust… Hell, Flairmidable’s little trick is even the reason behind all the kids being able to keep their Miraculous moving forward (everybody say thank you Flairmidable)!

This time, when Ladybug chose Sabrina as the Dog’s permanent holder, she did it with full knowledge of the potential consequences and of how she ultimately reacts in the face of injustice. There’s no doubt about Miss Hound’s kindness in Mari’s eyes anymore, which is why she did not even suspect that Sabrina might be worried about it. Absolutely stellar choices here!

Big day for annoying people (me)

The two new eps of ML were good? Like wow it’s been great so far except ep 3 was comparatively a flop imo. Werepapas was so, idk, enticing lore-wise but I don’t have much to say that other people haven’t except that they’re clearly NOT neglecting past plot points, making the tone too silly goofy all the time, nor retconning important stuff like some people worried they would. We have been FED. I’m sure Felix is involved in that ring bs somehow, but idk if his intentions are pure or not.

Warning for the only salty thing I’m gonna say on this post: I’m so tired of going into the fandom tag and seeing people whining about “bad writing” problems that literally never happened based entirely on their own incorrect predictions they made up to make themselves mad. Ugh anyway. This post is gonna be about small details I latched onto in Daddycop!

We got to see glimpses of Sabrina and Max’s rooms this ep! Max’s room looks like a Star Trek spaceship but the books on his bookshelf are kinda giving those reference books at the library of like, archived government documents or research papers iykwim whereas the books in Alya’s room look like manga. An interesting thing I noticed in Sabrina’s room is that she has a line of framed certificates on the wall, maybe academic awards or something similar

Did they ever say if Markov can see Kaalki or not? I’m sure they will eventually but idk which option I like better. It’d be cute if they were friends but it’d be pretty funny if he had to watch Max talk to the secret floating ghost who lives with them now and not question it

List of things Sabrina dumps in the trash: yellow nail polish, the brooch Chloe gifted to her/bribed her with in season 1, the cat ear headband from her Chat Noir cosplay when she and Chloe were roleplaying as him and Ladybug in season 3, a beret, maybe the one Chloe tried to bribe her with in s1, Chloe-style sunglasses, a Queen Bee doll, a photo of them together in the old animation, and a mug/tumbler? Maybe a gift from her as well idk maybe they’re selling Queen Bee-themed Stanley cups over there.

Between eps 2 and 4 I’m getting the sense that Sabrina uses Miss Hound as an escape kinda like CN where she feels like she can become instantly likeable, trustworthy, helpful, and useful through the inherent credibility of being a superhero. She has anonymity, can sort of start over on a blank slate, and is automatically implied to be a good person since Ladybug entrusted her. I’m guessing we’re gonna see more of that blank slate idea with other characters and what they’ll do with it, but it’s telling that Sabrina decides to transform to resolve people’s minor inconveniences, especially when she’s feeling bad about herself. It’s like she’s proving a point to herself but also giving herself something productive to do.

Noticing a clear absence of Alix. Ik the special implied she has to keep hiding in the burrow from Lila but she’s all normal-looking in the intro and they can’t shelve her forever. I feel like something is gonna change to make her be able to return.

^^^ ALSO she’s the only hero with zero design updates and my theory is that the purpose of that is so she can do contrived time nonsense like going back to earlier seasons and going forward without contradicting anything or revealing which time period she’s actually from

I gotta say the side character writing has progressively been better and better throughout the show. Atp they really feel like actual people with their own opinions and motivations. In the early days they felt more like lovable NPCs who talked occasionally but now they’re real characters? With free will? I feel like I just watched Pinocchio get turned into a real boy

The pro-healthy eating censorship/propaganda/whatever in this show is so funny omg. Juleka: I brought fruit tea Mylene: wow that’s so much better than the sugary soda we had last time LMAO. To balance out Rose holding a bag of popcorn they gave Zoe two burlap sacks full of oranges which tbf I’d rather snack on those during a movie than popcorn but still. I saw a vid recently about gravity falls adding random bowls of fruit next to characters eating junk food because they were getting flagged as promoting unhealthy habits. I keep thinking about that moment in Ikari Gozen when Mari asks Kagami out for “juice” when any normal teen would’ve said “coffee” like nope no caffeine in my good Christian miraculous

Ok last season they seem to have established that Sabrina became friends with Marc and Nathaniel who were both explicit Sabrina Supporters since their akuma episodes, so it feels sort of convenient that they were written out of the narrative for this ep. I do see the whole Girl Squad thing and how she feels excluded when all the girls in the group hang out together without her, doing traditional girl things like movie night sleepovers, so I do think it’s totally valid. Her having absolutely zero friends is hyperbolized though.

On that note I have to wonder if the school might have several lunch periods because none of the male characters expect Adrien and Nino were there. Or maybe they just stage the scene with whoever is convenient. They might have flexible lunch schedules and all the other characters are off somewhere else.

Rose mentioned a girl whose name I didn’t recognize and after rewinding i can’t tell what she said. Aglie? New character? Maybe she’s that black girl with pink hair who was sitting with Adrien, Nino, and Sublime at lunch

KAGAMI AND ONDINE ARE CANONICALLY FRIENDS this is like the Superbowl for me. I’m so excited for Sleeping/Princess Syren I need to see her.

I never thought I’d say these words, but I think a love triangle between Sabrina, Zoe, and Max would be fun. Imagine Zoe is into Sabrina, Sabrina isn’t exactly catching the hint and sees Zoe as a really nice friend, Sabrina kinda likes Max, and Max is like damn these bitches gay. Good for them.

Like he tells people he’s into sports but then you find out the sport is just horse riding. Immediately invested. Who is this diva. I want him to get hit by a bus.

Ooooo Zoe was up to some Delinquent Shit in America this is so juicy. I looove when suspiciously perfect characters get revealed to be secretly fucked up that’s the best. I’ve always loved those types of headcanons, that she was expelled from her last school and moved to a different country all of a sudden for her mom’s PR. If you think about it, that’s exactly what happened to Chloe damn. Daughter commits PR disaster, do zero parenting about it, relocate daughter far away to start over with little consequence! I wanna see some parallels. I feel like she made it sound like she moved because she was getting bullied at her old school, but what if that was a lie, or at least a partial lie? You know shit’s serious when the exposition is in the post-post-endcard scene

The pacing of these episodes has been satisfying compared to previous seasons, especially 5. They aren’t trying to shove too much in, but there’s still a lot happening and fiiiinally a nice mix of plot and fighting. I was getting irritated by how rushed a lot of the fights were last season like might as well just not have them at all

Late edit: back to the pajamas because I forgot to analyze them, I have noticed that Juleka’s pants have bats on them :) frickin bats. They also have like… a crescent moon with something sitting on it? idk what that is. It’s like a pattern of cute spooky Halloween imagery. But the pants and her black lace tank top versus Rose’s sparkly pink unicorn onesie is adorb.

Zoe has a yellow tank and seems to be wearing her usual leggings under running shorts um? Outside clothes in bed? And her pink slides give the whole thing a sans undertale vibe. Oh what the fuck why do the feet of her tights have individual toes lmao. The horror. I hate it.

I can’t tell what Mylene is wearing except a black t-shirt that might have something white on it. OMG EDIT 2 ITS IVAN’S T-SHIRT FROM HIS OLD DESIGN YOU GUYS SHES WEARING HER BF’S OLD BAND TEE AS PAJAMAS. This is headline news myvan nation. She has maybe pink shorts and her slippers look like Uggs.

Kagami’s silk pjs look luxurious. I love how her clothes this season went from just preppy to being very obviously EXPENSIVE like she’s blending in with the gang but she’s still clearly rich af.

Sabrina’s pjs are a classic set with her usual argyle pattern on them. 10/10 would give her a warm glass of milk and read her a bedtime story. I wonder what she needs eye drops for because she told Roger she needs to pack them.

Excited to see more yay! I love the little details. It’s kinda a bummer that Sabrina spent most of her hero focus ep sobbing but we ball (see what I did there) and the end was so cutesy. So excited to probably watch episode 11 before episode 6

An exchange between Cat Noir and a surprisingly precocious Miss Hound that hits a little close to home.

Cat Noir blinked and swallowed, "You're... different than most people-"

Miss Hound rocked back and forth on her feet upon the rooftop, "I know! I'm even more different from me!"

He tilted his head, "...What?"

She did a slow ungainly pirouette on one foot, stopping halfway to look back over her shoulder at him while making sideways V's with her fingers over her eyes. "It's the mask! When you're wearing it you can be whoever you want. You can even be different people! You don't have to worry about being you. Vee know what I mean?"

The hitch confused him a moment, "Vee?"

She bit the tip of her tongue, "I already said 'you' too much."

The joke landed and he chuckled, but also her words sunk in, hitting the very real experience inside of him. "Yeah. I do know about that. How do you know if it's the right you though?"

She turned the rest of the way, still attempting to hold the pirouette form. She wobbled. "You just do what feels comfortable. If it doesn't feel right, you stop doing it. You try stuff out."

There was a tug inside of him. Something was resonating. He was too antsy to sit still so he joined her. He stepped in and raised one hand under her arm, the other her leg, supporting her into a basic arabesque. "But... what if people don't like what feels comfortable?"

She held the pose for several seconds with his help, then collapsed down onto both feet and the grace turned to awkward knees and elbows again, "It's not about them, is it? Doing what other people want isn't being you. You gotta find out what you wanna be before you can see how that fits together with anyone else, right? You can't just be what they want, because then there's no you."

Cat Noir felt breathless the way no kiss, no poem, no smile from Ladybug ever managed. It was exhilarating, and also terrifying. Could… could she be right? But.. what was he? Who was he? How did he even figure that out?
