The sweet, the sweet irony of Sabrina believing she will never earn Marinette’s trust when she gave her the Dog back

Think about it for a minute: Sabrina first received the Dog in Penalteam, purely because the heroes would have been outnumbered against the villain of the week otherwise. Ladybug made a temporary decision based on nothing but immediate needs, and probably didn’t think she’d ever let Sabrina use its powers again.

But in the meantime, there was Strikeback:

The Dog was the reason Ladybug lost the Miraculous — which in turn was a huge factor in Monarch’s final “victory”. All because she entrusted its power to the wrong person, someone she thought she could trust… Hell, Flairmidable’s little trick is even the reason behind all the kids being able to keep their Miraculous moving forward (everybody say thank you Flairmidable)!

This time, when Ladybug chose Sabrina as the Dog’s permanent holder, she did it with full knowledge of the potential consequences and of how she ultimately reacts in the face of injustice. There’s no doubt about Miss Hound’s kindness in Mari’s eyes anymore, which is why she did not even suspect that Sabrina might be worried about it. Absolutely stellar choices here!

SO I AM NOT AT ALL GOING INSANE RIGHT NOW. NOPE.

It's not like Sabrina and Adrien were the only two characters who had yet to change there appearance this season. And it was only after Sabrina was able to understand her identity and her self-worth outside of Chloe that she was able to "unlock" a new look for herself.

IT'S NOT LIKE ADRIEN has been stuck in understanding himself only through those around him. Or that he's been trapped in his father's shadow since day one. Never worthy of being around. but always expected to hold up the expectations of being Gabriel Agreste's son.

IT'S NOT LIKE we have been TEASED and INFORMED through every. single. episode. of. this. season. That Adrien is lost, that he is struggling to understand himself and his identity. That we have yet to really see how Adrien, who hates change, is processing everything in his life changing.

IT'S NOT LIKE Adrien is gathering new people to fill his life and occupy the space his father's death created. Because he doesn't know how to grieve. he was never allowed to. And he doesn't know how to grieve his father when he's been grieving him his whole life.

IT'S. NOT. LIKE. Adrien puts on the same clothes his father picked out for him. Not willing to make the choice to iron them, but instead passively going through the motions of just putting them on. Simultaneously not really making a choice for himself but also somehow making the choice to remain his father's pet

Cinematic parallels

It's so baffling to me that people will blame marinette for literally anything. At the beginning of the episode we see her talking about Sabrina and how happy she is that she's changed and is now helping people. And then she shifts her focus to her planned date with Adrien for most of the episode.

But GOD FORBID, she asks ONE QUESTION, in a not sweet saccharine princess tone, because she is CONFUSED, and lacking CRITICAL INFORMATION, which is what the ENTIRE EPISODE BUILD TOWARDS, and she's suddenly "mean" and "a bully" and "ruined this season".

Like. Some people make it so blatantly obvious that they just look for reasons to shit on a fictional 14 year old girl due to her simply existing. C'mon.

There's something tragic about the fact that Chloé is still using bees as her personal brand, like using a bee avatar and dressing in honeycomb pattern clothes (also I think her necklace is a little bee too but it was too small for me to be sure).

That really was the only time that she was happy and she's trying so hard to cling to it despite everything.

Also, seriously Marinette?

Naturally I’ve latched onto whatever is going on with Adrien’s rings (wow Nina, I would have never guessed Nina, how unexpected and fresh of you Nina) but for the record Daddycop (despite the unfortunate title) was super cute. Everyone looks amazing in this new animation style (Kagami! Zoé! Kagami! Sabrina, especially with this shorter haircut! Kagami! Adrinette! Kagami! Even Chloé in that brief shot we got of her! KAGAMI!!!!!) and I’m absolutely loving this new range of movement and facial expressions. We got the best of both words with some classic Adrinette shenanigans and some lovely character development from both Sabrina and Zoé… 10/10, nothing to add except bravo! 💖

(Also, this is supposed to be episode 4, right? So Adrien potentially died right after they missed their magical star alignment kiss. Don’t mess with the stars, guys.)
